When I started Buchanan Construction in 2005, I wanted to create a company where each project was carried out with quality, integrity, and professionalism. Though much has changed in the years since our establishment, those values have not. In fact, they remain at the center of all that we do, and every decision we make. Most of our clients – whether building a home, or a commercial project - have dreamed about, saved for, and prepared to invest in their construction project for years. For many of them, this is the largest investment they will ever make, and for many others, it’s the project that will alter their future.

Our on-staff Interior Designers work with each of our clients, no matter the project size or scope, to achieve exceptional spaces with the principles of artistry, functionality, and livability. Guiding clients through design milestones while ensuring the project stays both on-time and on-budget, our designers work with clients to achieve beautiful spaces of aesthetic integrity alongside peace of mind.

There are two short forms to complete if you would like to refer a client, one for you, and one for your client.

This form allows us to learn more about the client’s goals and plans for their project. Under “where did you hear about us,” your client can enter “referral” and your name. Your client will hear back from our team the same day (or the next immediate business day) to schedule an initial call or meeting to discuss their project.

What type of construction projects do you build?
Our services include custom and semi-custom homes, partial and whole home renovations, and commercial projects. We also work with developers to create planned developments. What type of clients should I refer to you?
Our collective process – from the design + build experience, to our in-house specialists (like interior designers, quality control manager, and warranty manager) was specially crafted to offer clients the exceptional construction experience we believe to be worthy of their investment. Because of this process, we are best equipped to work with clients seeking upscale or luxury construction. For custom homes, we recommend a budget of at least $850,000, for partial renovations: at least $150,000, and whole home renovations $250,000 or more.

What is the Design+ Build process? Why is it beneficial to my client?
Building a home used to entail hiring an architect, a contractor, an interior designer, landscaping architect, and other professionals individually. Each of these professionals served the client separately, collaborating very little, and leading to miscommunication, over-spending, and sometimes even failure to meet the client’s goals and vision. The design + build process brings every professional contributing to the project into one conversation throughout the collective project, working collaboratively to achieve the client’s goal. The design + build process offers clients a multitude of benefits, like investment management, a single source of accountability, improved quality control, design savings, enhanced communication with their team, and faster completion. What type of commercial construction projects do you build?
We are experienced in and offer a variety of commercial construction services, including; multi-family projects (such as townhomes, condos, and apartments), institutional projects, restaurant/office/medical office up-fits & new construction, planned developments (including civil & vertical construction), and mixed use/town center projects. What process should I use to put my clients in contact with you?
Please refer to page 4 for more information on how to refer a client. We ask all potential clients to complete the “Build With Us” form, as this allows us to learn about their project and be prepared for a productive initial discovery call or meeting.

How soon can my clients expect to hear from you?
Your clients will hear from us the same day they complete the contact form (or the next business day) with an invitation to schedule an initial discovery call or meeting.

My client is considering purchasing a lot, will you assess their property?
If your client is seriously considering purchasing a lot, and/or has narrowed down their lot selections to 1-2, we will be happy to assess the property. The same applies to clients considering purchasing an existing property to renovate.

Can I attend any meetings or calls my client has with you?
Of course! We welcome you to attend any meetings or calls with the client, and appreciate your input and role in the project!

What is your quote/bid process?
From the outset of our journey with our clients, we factor their desired investment into our decisions and vision planning to ensure our concepts reflect their investment goals. During this stage in our process, our interior designers work with the client to select high-level finishes, like types of appliances, cabinetry, and level of trim carpentry, so we can present the client with a detailed investment proposal. We’ll review this investment proposal in detail with the client, answer any questions, and make any adjustments necessary, so they can move to the next step in the process with confidence.
In the case of commercial clients where specifications are fully determined, we provide estimates as quickly as possible, and work closely with the client to consider value engineering where necessary.

Do you offer a referral fee? When is it paid?
Yes! Our referral fee is 1% of the contract cost for the referred project. The fee will be paid in two installments. The first payment will be issued within 14 days of the start of clearing/grading. The second payment will be issued at the C.O. (Certificate of Occupancy). For commercial projects, this payment is issued at the C.O. date of the final unit.

I’m not a realtor, can I join your network?
We currently invite realtors, architects, landscape architects/planners, civil engineers, and surveyors to participate in the referral program. Trade contractors are considered on a case-by-case basis. If one of these categories does not describe you and you would like to refer a client to us, please reach out to us at info@buchananconstruction.com.
