Binghamton Circle K Meeting Minutes 8_27_18 Called to order: 8:08 Opening Remarks: • Executive Board introductions o Emily, Lauren, Colleen, Emily, Prachi, Claire • Committee Chairs o Calling all previous key club members! o We have two open positions for old and new members! ▪ K family ▪ District project •
What is Circle K? o International Service Organization o There are “families” at all levels—Key Club, Circle K, and Kiwanis (for when you are in the real world)

Why Circle K? o Meeting new people, networking, and resume building! We are some of the friendliest people on campus! o Circle K is unique, because we help with a multitude of causes!

Upcoming district events! o DLSSP ▪ September 28th-30th ▪ Taberg, NY-- Kamp Kiwanis (An hour and forty-five minutes away) ▪ We will begin signing up soon—make sure to come to the meeting the week of September 10th ▪ Only $20 ▪ Fellowship across the district! Meeting with members from other schools around the Southern Tier! o NYS ▪ November 2nd-4th ▪ Lake George, NY
o DCON ▪ March! ▪ Albany, NY •
Dues are $12 are very important to become an official international member and to be able to run for eboard in the future! o A FREE t-shirt, insurance at events, and official certificate as well as an membership ID card from Kiwanis are ALL INCLUDED

Future Activities: o Service gathering o Weekly meeting—There will be a service activity this upcoming Monday at 3pm! If you chose not to go home for Labor Day, make sure to come thru! o Day of Caring ▪ Come help the United Way in Binghamton by tending to Vines, the community garden! ▪ Binghamton as many of you know is a food desert, making it difficult for families to access healthy AND affordable food stuffs. ▪ The first 11 people to sign up with get a FREE shirt! o Backpack repack o Apple Festival ▪ The local Kiwanis club of Broome county is hosting a booth! ▪ They love to share their stories and to get to know YOU! ▪ This does overlap with the Day of Caring so be mindful when signing up ☺ o CHOW walk ▪ This 6th annual event is on September 16th 12pm-3pm ON CAMPUS ▪ Members can help by signing people in and directing traffic ▪ You can also chose to walk at this event or donate to the cause! o Out of the darkness o Food Co-op o Thirst Project o Any orgs near and dear to your heart! Let us know! o Last year, the proceeds from our bake sale were donated to hurricane relief
