Circle K Meeting Minutes 9_17_18 Called to Order: 8:06 Opening Remarks: Happy Monday! o Have you been receiving our emails? ▪ Make sure to include it on the sign in sheet, so we can get you on the listserv! o Add us on Social Media! o Like our Facebook page and join the Circle K group for more reminders! o Same goes for Instagram! o Build your activities transcript and add us to B-engaged! Past Events: Thank you to all who participated this weekend! Many hands make light work! o About 100 service hours were recorded for just this weekend alone! o Day of Caring with Vines o Apple Fest o CHOW Hunger Walk-36th annual hunger walk! Upcoming Events: • VINES Community Garden o This past weekend was a great success, but there is still more work that has to be done! o Stop by on Saturday, September 22nd at out from 8:45am-Noon in Endwell, NY (15-minute drive from campus) o Help construct a fence to protect the community garden from our local critters like deers and gophers! •

VINES-EVERY WEDNESDAY & THURSDAYS o Volunteer to help with the Urban farm! o Hours are Wednesday’s 1-3pm and Thursdays 9-12pm. o This is a very flexible volunteer commitment! o Thursdays is a harvest day so that Friday people can buy food at discounted prices→ this will help with the food desert that exists

September 23rd o Southern Tier Divisional


o 12pm-2pm in UU 215 (the room that we usually have our meetings in!) o Focus will be on the Mind your Mind (our district project) o Mental health awareness and identifying resources available on campus will the main topic of discussion. o This is a great way to meet people from other schools! o Many of the people at this event will also be DLSSP! •

September 29th o River Bank Cleanup NYPIRG- a really great organization to help voter registration, food drives, and helping the environment. o Help from 8:30am-12:30pm by cleaning up trash and removing brush.

October 4th o Community Opportunities Fair o Noon-4pm in the Mandela Room and Old Union Hall o Learn more and network with those who are involved with the CCE or the Center of Civic Engagement. o This great way to connect with those interested in service on and off campus! o Come help us table at this event and learn more about other great orgs!

In the Works: • October 13th o Out of the Darkness Walk •

November 9th o Thirst Project Speaker- There is a very good chance that there is going to be free pizza

Do you want to learn how to market your community outreach skills? o We are hoping to have Lexi Avery from the Fleishman Center present on resume writing!

Events at the Zoo! o Who doesn’t love animals? o Volunteer dates for Boo at the Zoo and Holoween at the Zoo will be released in the newsletter next week! • •

Dues are $12, are not mandatory, but highly recommended! This is a requirement to become an official international member and to be able to run for eboard in the future! A free t-shirt, insurance at events, and official certificate as well as a membership ID from Kiwanis are ALL INCLUDED
