Straight to the Riverbank The riverbank cleanup was such a great way to give back to the Binghamton community. Because most of the trash downtown is from we Binghamton students, cleaning it up for the rest of the city residents just felt like the right thing to do. It was also a lot of fun to go down to the river and under the bridge with a bunch of friends, old and new. Overall, the riverbank cleanup was a great experience and I would love to do it again next year!

I truly loved being apart of the riverbank clean up this year. A bunch of volunteers and I went down to the local river and picked up the garbage surrounding the river. It was such an amazing experience because it was my first being apart of this event and I was so happy with the turnout. Everyone who volunteered was extremely helpful. I cannot wait to do it again next year.

There’s No Place like Homecoming
By: Wu a l e g n A
The Homecoming Tailgate was a great experience! We set up an arts and craft station where we helped kids make cute and creative aquariums out of construction paper, popsicle sticks, stickers, and glitter. It was fun interacting with the adorable children and the event gave us a chance to talk to their parents (the alumni graduates of Binghamton University). Many of us enjoyed this event because it reminded us of the good old days of building our own crafts during our childhoods. Also, we were able to keep the children entertained and preoccupied. We hope they enjoyed Homecoming at Binghamton as much as their parents did.

Service Projects Feel Sew Good After your mind-numbing Calculus midterm, what do you feel like doing? Do you want to sleep off the intellectual pain? Do you feel like eating away your feelings? Of course not! You want to make some cute kitties happy through the Humane Society! This month’s adorable service project is no stranger to the bearcats of Circle K. Our beautiful members put their sewing skills to the test and made a bunch of toy mice to donate to the Humane Society! We can all thank our amazing Service Project Committee Chair, James Cownie, for providing us with this opportunity to give back. As a witness to this event, I can say that every member truly enjoyed participating in this event. If I had a dollar for every time a member smiled or laughed, I would not be writing this because I would be in Europe vacationing.
To be fair, they did look like empanadas before we drew whiskers and a face on the mice. I will say that our Icebreaker Committee Chair, Aaron Chernin, did not even bother to abide by the rules. He decided that our purring friends preferred to play with a giant hamburger. I am not too sure on his thought process there, but I do enjoy imagining that cat’s reaction to seeing that play toy. All jokes aside, something as simple as sewing can make a difference. It is important for us to remember that people are not the only ones we can help. The furry tenants at the Humane Society need our help and we are more than glad to do so! Make sure to keep an eye out for our next service project. I can assure you that it will be just as fun and important as this one!

Glowing in the Spotlight Stacy Villalva has taken on a huge responsibility for our club and stepped up as Vice President. For those of you who don’t know, Stacy used to be our Webmaster. That’s right, she is the brains behind our lovely website! If she did all of that as Webmaster, imagine what she could do as Vice President. We could not have a more dedicated member for this position and it is obvious that she will do an amazing job this year! Congrats on your new position, Stacy!
Jerry Cimo has made such a huge impact on Circle K and this boy has only been a member for a few months! Whenever an event comes up, Jerry is the first to sign up. This new member has also stepped up as Webmaster for the club! Jerry is definitely one to look out for I think it is about time he is acknowledged for his hard work and effort! We appreciate you so much, Jerry, and the E-Board is so happy to add you to our family!
"I am very thankful to be given the opportunity to serve as club Webmaster and I look forward to maintaining the website along with working with other e-board members for the remainder of this service year. My goal is for all members to become familiar with the club website and utilize it to increase and provide new member involvement within the club."

This Halloween, Circle K put the “boo” in boom with their explosive bake sale. Yes, I really did just type that. The fabulous Bake Sale Committee Chair, Angela Wu, showed us her skills that kill when she put together this awesome bake sale! Our beautiful members not only raised money for the Breast Cancer Walk with baked goods, but they also sold bracelets and bears for the cause. Our fantastic Secretary, Dana Shanon, came up with the idea to collaborate and sell the cute stuffed animals and jewelry and all it did was make this fundraiser more of a success! Thanks to 7 all of you, we helped raise money and spread awareness for a deserving cause!
