Hopefully, you’ve all had an adventurous, kanyetastic, and service-filled summer! Last year was a big year for our club with winning so many awards at NYCKI’s District Convention and growing as an inspiring organization, but this year is going to be bigger, right? I believe in you lovely people and the E-Board can’t wait to start volunteering with everyone again! Much love, Alyssa (Your Editor)

DCON Summary
Wait, you weren’t able to go to DCON this year? Okay, stop crying because here’s a bangin’ recap of us taking over. We represented in Albany by being obnoxiously loud & winning multiple awards. Not to mention, our very own Walaa Ahmed was elected as District Treasurer (that’s a pretty big deal – she’s famous now). Binghamton also won the Club Newsletter Award (you’re welcome), Outstanding 1st Year Member (damn, Jerry Cimo), Honorable Mention for Outstanding Club President (woo, Walaa), Outstanding Club Treasurer (aw yeah, Kristy Wolfson), Outstanding Club Secretary (I see you, Dana Shanon), Outstanding Committee Chair (bow down to Krishna Tejani), and Outstanding Club Editor (yeah, that’s me)!
As you can see, we were recognized for all of the work we’ve put in this past year. Just remember that every single time you come to a meeting, you’re in the presence of NYCKI royalty. Besides the awards, it was such a great learning experience because of all of the workshops and we made so many new friends. It didn’t hurt that we were able to participate in a bunch of different service projects! If you couldn’t go to this one, don’t you fret because the next DCON is on March 27th – 29th and rumor has it that it’s going to be the most amazing one yet. See you there!
Jealous yet?
Turn Up for DLSSP
What are you doing September 12th until September 14th? That’s right, you’re heading out to the District Large Scale Service Project or as the cool kids say, “DLSSP.” “But, Alyssa, what is DLSSP?” Well, honey, it’s a weekend of service where NYCKI clubs join together and partake in multiple huge service projects. This is your time to meet, network, and make new Circle K friends!
This year, DLSSP is going to be at Kamp Kiwanis, which is only a 2-hour drive from Binghamton! For those of you who don’t know much about Kamp Kiwanis, it’s a summer camp for children that provides a fun and physical outdoor experience. It develops their leadership and fair play skills. The camp does a lot of good and we are gracious that they are willing to host DLSSP this year!
Registration is $25 and girl, that includes a room to sleep in and all of your meals #WorthIt. Early registration ends on September 5th and that includes a reward. Regular registration will end on September 11th at 11:59 PM. You can find out more about DLSSP and the registration link on www.nycirclek.org!
Did you guys know that 5 members of our club are on the New York Circle K District Board? The lovely Walaa Ahmed is our District Treasurer, the fashionable Jerry Cimo is our Technology Chair, the adorable Tina Lee is our Marketing and Resources Chair, the awesome Amy Boglarski is our Sunshine & Spirit Sub-Committee Chair, and yours truly is the District Convention Chair! #Represent
Did you lovebugs know that our club is thinking about being the host club for the upcoming District Convention (DCON)? Since I’m in charge of it this year, it would only make sense for us to host it. What does that mean? Well, our club would play a huge role in planning, decorating, and marketing the notoriously famous convention. It’s a huge honor if we do decide to do it, so fingers crossed!
