There are people who didn’t learn to love each other; people who maybe don’t know they can be adorable and need others remind it for them; people who can’t forgive themselves; people who never live up to their male or female models and live under the weight of imaginary giants with feet of clay; giants whom they either love or hate in an incessant and recurring love-hate cycle. Disproportionate figures, herculean characters, titans of the achievement, but always of bulgy cruelty and postures as haughty as coarse are their objectives. Dominating the meanest means, they recreate themselves in evil. In that territory where the hero is confused with the "Mafioso" and the leader with the tyrant, they wrap themselves in the halo of tragic mystery and in the sickly idealization of sacrifice ... Here goes my finger! When Antonio Albanese contacted me about the homage and memory of GM Giampietro, I had been remembering him for several days. So, present in my memory, I asked him to send me some of the letters and messages of those who had loved him and respected him in life, so that they could be published with some unpublished photos I made back in the day. Master Savegnago mastered an elegant, beautiful and strong Aikido, which conquered many people, however perhaps it was his exceptional character and personality which made him unforgettable. The "Condottiero", as I used to call him, distilled a spirit of other times; his gaze, fierce and loving at the same time, transmitted an inner strength that he proved in life and in his farewell from this world. He left us his teachings and a trace of affection. May this article be a small tribute to the Master from our heart. BANZAI! Alfredo Tucci

Great Masters To the master Savegnago My cousin Moreno called me on the phone, his voice was shaking, but he was calm, like those who know how to help an injured man: “Toni, Sensei Piero has had an accident, he’s got a bad leg, an ambulance is coming to take him to Verona; he asked me to call you.” Sensei Piero rode his motorbike to go to work ever y day, he had r ecently bought a Suzuki Haiabusa. Sensei Piero did not run, he flew low, for him everything was calculated speed, but that day in Cereda he stopped for a reversal, and although he took care of the car that was behind, he did not see the one that came in over taking; it grabbed him fully. Three fingers below the left knee downward, the blow had crushed his leg; he fell not far away, his arteries were cut and blood was gushing out copiously. He took off his belt and clenched it around his thigh with his teeth.

Great Masters y cousin Moreno was returning home from the hospital where he works and he was the first person to give him first aid. Trying to stop the bleeding with clothes, they took Sensei Piero to Verona Hospital, where he arrived almost bled to death; they saved his life with a transfusion, but they had to amputate his leg. His world in Aikido seemed to have ended like that, we were all shocked. However, only six months later, I found myself accompanying Sensei Piero, still with his wounds open, to a seminar in Cegled, Hungary. He still was pretty much affected by the subsequent effects of the various surgical operations, but, in spite of that, I helped him

Aikido prepare, and without prostheses and walking on crutches, he entered the tatami. At the beginning of the seminar he worked from the Seiza position, then they brought him a chair where he rested the stump, and he carried out some beautiful techniques; everyone understood then that he was not just anybody, and that Master Savegnago's Aikido began like that. It was a succession of events that led Sensei Piero to win the hearts and minds of many students. In a very short time he perfected and adapted a prosthesis that would restore his motor capacity, and many were aware of his disability only when he removed his prostheticÂ implant at the end of each lesson. He used to talk about Aikido and the connection among people, the perception we have of reality and that everyone feels their own. He infused us with courage and joked about the condition that, ironically, had improved his life. In 2003 he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor, he called me and asked me to organize a final

Great Masters event because the doctors had predicted that he only had six months of life. I couldn't believe such bad luck but he reassured me, put his Samurai spirit in front of me and then I saw what fighting really meant. He lived for another ten years and he left us in indescribable suffering. Until the end he kept giving, transmitting, his smile satisfying the soul... The words to describe Master Savegnago were read during the ceremony for the transferring of his remains to the Cappella dei Benemeriti (Chapel of the Meritorious Citizens) in the cemetery of the municipality of Cornedo Vicenza.

Aikido Japan: Nara A Piero, You will sleep forever in the tomb of Cornedoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s honored citizens. I am aware that what you have built will live forever in everyone's heart. Since we were young we have sweated together during Aikido training following Master Kobayashi. I remember when you lost your leg in an accident, I was afraid that you couldn't continue to do Aikido. But you recovered with a strenuous rehabilitation and, with an artificial leg, you continued to give wonderful instruction in my dojo. His voice sounded beautiful with that melody. He learned a lot about Aikido and about Japan. He always smiled at us. I will never forget his voice and his smile. Tomomi Kobayashi

Germany I met Piero in 1978, in a training course of Master Nocquet in France. At that time, he was already a young and extraordinary aikidoka with an excellent technique. Even then he thought and acted with an international spirit. After the death of Master Kobayashi, Piero from Italy, Adrien from France, Jurgen and I from Germany, we moved to Japan to the Aikido-Osaka. We were a harmonious unity, even if we were from different countries. The principles and ideas of Aikido united us with the Japanese and we became excellent friends; it was a very pleasant time with unique experiences in Japan. We visited Master Kobayashi's widow and collected material to create a biographical book about her late husband. We sold the book in Europe and transferred the earnings to Ms. Kobayashi. Piero was the driving force behind this project that gave us so many satisfactions. Piero always opted for an international Aikido. For him, it did not matter nationality or skin color, or if the person was large or small, whether male or female. That's how Piero Sensei lived Aikido. Dear BUDO lovers, this third world-wide BUDO MASTERS event to be held in the Eternal City of Rome is a unique opportunity which we celebrate every two years, to gather and meet in person Masters, professors and instructors of the most different styles, in addition to sharing and enriching the culture and fraternity of Martial Arts. And although it offers some other significances, I think the chosen ones fit well with the reflection that I want to launch today for those who follow this monthly column of the magazine. The truth is that if we look with some depth, in Martial Arts, practitioners and followers are basically divided into two groups (how could it be otherwise): Lovers of the "old" and enemies of the "old" (or, put differently, defenders of the new and / or modern).

Wing Tsun on't believe that this simplification is somewhat exaggerated. In essence, everything in this world, whether or not related to human beings, can be reduced to this duality that Taoism already explained thousands of years ago. This introduction helps us to reflect on the importance and love for the old. Many of us are attracted to the old, the used, the seemingly dull or damaged by use. Personally I find beauty in that sort of things. It goes without saying that I fully understand all those who don't, nor do I want to convince them otherwise. But you will agree with me that what is worn and scarred by time has its own beauty just as well. On the other hand, the new seeks "practicality." A clean and pristine look, without the marks of time. But, what would you say about the old if, after a few tweaks, we could manage to fix its appearance? Perhaps, we could even repair the damage caused by the use and make a tune-up that would get it that aspect now called 'vintageâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; by modern people. I firmly believe in the balance between the new and the old. I believe that both parties offer highly valuable things if we understand that, from the old, we can obtain information, experience and essence, so that with the vision of the new we can get closer to effectiveness and efficiency. In Chinese Martial Arts, and especially in the world of Wing Chun Kung Fu, both positions have been at odds for years. In

I personally find the old beautiful. It makes me feel great to see, sense and be part of what has been handed down to us from generation to generation for hundreds of years. Sometimes there is no reasonable explanation for it, I just like it! On the other hand, it would be stupid not pay attention to the incredible improvements brought about by the modern training methods, the way of approaching the physical and mental workout, the way to practice in a friendly environment (without killing each other), etc. The question is, why canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t both aspects cohabit?

Wing Tsun That's always been my main motivation and I recognize having reached that point that allows me to really enjoy what I do. I travel to China every year. I've met more than a hundred Wing Chun teachers in recent years. Some of them have been personally interviewed by me on my trips and those interviews are available in this same publication. My question was essentially the same to every one: I asked them to show me what they were doing and to explain to me why they did it in that particular way and not otherwise. The curious thing is that I discovered that asking the same questions I obtained answers so varied and rare that it made me reflect. Where is the pattern, the point in common among all of them ...? I finally realized that the pattern that binds all of them together is precisely that there IS NO PATTERN. Having documented at least twenty versions of the form Siu Nin Tao and Chum Kiu Tao, the

Wing Tsun conclusion I draw is that there are not TWO lineages that do it the same way. Each and every one of them has its personal form, and even, some are utterly different from others. Do not believe that I speak of simple fans of Wing Chun. When I refer to the versions of the form, I speak of worldwide recognized representatives of the style. They all make a different Wing Chun. If we reach the most advanced forms of the style: Long Pole or Bart Cham Dao, the differences become so big that we could even say that we're speaking of completely different styles. Why then are there so many fanatical defenders of the 'Authentic', the 'True', the 'Original' Wing Chun Wing, and all those claims from people who simply know a point of view? (theirs) In practice, the vast majority of them have no criteria for a simple reason: They do NOT know the Wing Chun Kung Fu in its origin, in its essence. They haven't been able to verify that there are many families that practice authentic Wing Chun Kung Fu, and that the common link among them is simply that: they are different. On my last trip to Foshan, as I explained in my last article, "I went for copper and found gold." This famous phrase defines quite well my experience, by visiting a number of Kung Fu schools in Foshan accompanied by Sifu Tam Kit Hung (Chinese Government Official Researcher for Kung Fu History in Foshan). I, who lived quite obsessed studying and looking for origins and different branches of the Wing Chun style, was invited to exit the “ecosystem”, and meet other Kung Fu system masters in southern China to take some perspective on combat styles in Foshan. Without a doubt, it's been the best thing I've done in a long time. Foshan is the cradle of South China combat styles, that gave rise to the three fundamental pillars of “southern” Kung Fu: Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar and Wing Chun.

Wing Tsun The question is if it's possible understanding the evolution of Wing Chun in isolation from its "rival" styles. And, of course, the answer is no. Fighting styles evolve out of necessity. Faced with the superiority of an adversary, the style seeks to squeeze all possibilities to match and overcome the enemy. In short, rival styles are needed to progress. A certain style will be as good as the rival style facing it. Therefore, understanding the idiosyncrasies of southern styles will make us understand many things in our beloved system. I really enjoyed seeing the number of connections among southern styles. In short, I now see it as different strategies to achieve the same goal. Different paths to an end: Defeat an enemy. We cannot claim that one is better than another. Now a new phase begins in my in-depth study of the style, that will focus on the development of the already learned tools. In every phase of the study of an art, the first part is devoted to learning, the second one focus on understanding and the third part consecrates to development and experimentation. How could it be done in another way in Kung Fu? If you ask me, what did I learn while traveling to Foshan?

Wing Tsun I acknowledge, a lot! Especially what I like to call the "intangibles." It has been a very enriching experience. But in terms of technique and strategy (which is certainly what our students and followers value most) is that the style we practice is much richer than what our European teachers had shown us a few years ago. Wing Chun is not a simple hitting style. Wing Chun is a strategy based on the frontal position, protection of the central line and a rich and effective technical arsenal of dislocations, take downs, sweeps and kicks, and strikes of all kinds. Such versatility is the great wealth of Wing Chun Kung Fu. All those who want or feel like going on replicating what was done by the previous generation ... Well, let them do it! But believe me ... They are missing out the 80% of what lies in the deep layers of the style. As for me ... I will continue trying to create that "vintage" I was telling you about at the beginning of the article.

Some of them repeat without a thought the modern society’s patterns in which we live, namely that they compete to get what they want. We witness completely caricatural situations, where the student threatens the teacher to quit if he does not graduate in 1 week-end, a week or even 1 year. Since many marketing and non-martial trained teachers offer this type of quick formation, the student knows he will graduate from another one without any problem. Of course, any serious teacher can’t warrant the ability to become a teacher in a very short time. It is impossible to be able to teach one or more arts after only a weekend, a week or even a year or two. We all know the formation will take our lifespan and as we train, we will improve our weaknesses and refine our pedagogy. One of the main arguments of professors who graduate quickly, is the development of their discipline across a country or in the world. However, I have tested this a few years ago, to help spreading Jun Fan Gung Fu, Filipino martial arts and others. I have certified people to open a structure (because without a diploma you can not open a club) pointing out that they should train very hard in order to become valid teachers and to their students expecta tion.

Thus, by hearing persistently their students to congratulate and to describe them as the best in the world, teachers no longer tolerate any comments from their teacher and even claim that their teacher is jealous of their success. This greatly affects the teacher who trained them and gave them a chance to teach. However, no trained student pays attention to this pain and suffering until they themselves are used in the same way. They then realize what it means to suffer and feel betrayed. Some excellent teachers are able to protect themselves, remaining very professional but always keeping a distance with their students. This method is excellent; it allows these teachers to never suffer and to give their attention and trust to the people who deserve it. Nevertheless, if we work with our heart, we give our total confidence to the students to create a link and a complicity, which will achieve the goals of each student. For me, without this bond and this complicity, it is impossible for the student to confide and progress really. Indeed, since always, the disciple, as he was formerly known, was very close to the "master" and their complicity was total. Thus, the student could progress effectively and worthily represented the "master" and the discipline taught by him. We always forget, especially today, that one or more disciplines teaching requires a lot of seriousness and commitment to pay tribute to what we have bequeathed and allowed to transmit to others.

Nothing is obtained by threat, blackmail, or eagerness. Patience and humility are put into any martial training. Instead of accepting the rules, students do business by surfing the trendy currents on the internet, betraying and dirtying their former teacher who did everything for them. They go to the biddest and make fun of their true level but just want to teach knowing the poor quality they will offer their future students because they are unable to transmit anything. If one does not master something, by dint of hard work over years, how can one claim to give quality. I will conclude, "To all of you, dear practitioners, do you honestly ask this question: have I always been honest and given sufficient gratitude to my teacher? " Even if nobody is perfect and me first, how can we look in the mirror each morning if we betrayed and messed up the one who allowed us to reach our goals and realize our dreams? Finally, think of the pain that can be felt by a teacher who, all his life, has invested himself and who has given all his love to his pupils, when they deny him, betray him, dirty him and in the worst case they erase it no more and no less from their memory and their CV. BUJUTSU - The Rise of the Military Class - Part 1 The military class (BUKE) began to play a decisive role in the history of Japan during the 10th and 11th centuries (end of the Heian period), as the power of the emperor (Yamato clan) began to slowly and irresistibly disintegrate. During this period, the aristocratic clans (KUGE) fought each other and didn't face the powerful organization of priests and military monks near Nara. This phenomenon can also be observed in the middle of the sixth century, when comparatively, a new clan named SOGA challenged the power of five original clans: Otomo, Kume (Kumebe), Imibe, Mononobe, Nakatomi. The members of the dynamic and extremely capable SOGA family, in fact, eventually managed to suggest that they would be descendants of the imperial line, using each concept to fulfill their purposes.

At that time, the country was also in a spiritual division between Buddhist monotheists and the animist pantheists of the indigenous (Shinto) religion The extension of the formal doctrine and the mystical polarization of the images soon emphasized the supreme authority of the emperor, thus making him a more particular goal of those powerful and ambitious nobles who were determined to take the power for themselves. At that time, his clan became supreme among all other descendants of the former Kuge. With the result of the tithes that characterized Heian and its outer splendor, a powerful void was created in the nation political center. A new class of men was being formed by the irresistible force of history. These men formed the military aristocracy, which at first seemed to have been excluded from the political decision process.

The function of this class was primarily that of protecting the borders of the nation. Afterwards, its members received the ancient martial tradition that once had been the prerogative of the former and expansive aristocratic clan, before being centralized - first in Nara and then in the permanent capital of Kyoto. Slowly, but certainly, that centralization was separated by the Kuge from the real power base of that time: the land ownership. The almost complete concentration of the old clans in the main cities and their continued abstinence from the nearest states, considerably weakened their ability to develop their lands, supervise the management of their properties and collect their taxes. Without the borders of states and provinces, far from the capital, a new and vigorous clan began to grow. The provincial territories used to be added by the imperial decree to the large landowners representing the emperor. In addition, other territories claimed by rebels or possessed by enemies were transformed into productive provinces, whose occupants were eventually confirmed in their positions as landowners by imperial decree. These owners were called DAIMYO ("great names"), and established faithful subjects called vassals (Kerai).

SPECIALIZATIONS AND MAIN CLANS In every Japanese Martial Art doctrine, we can find a long list of specializations. In general, they are systematically divided according to the authors who discuss them. Some authors make a clear distinction between the specializations practiced by Japanese warriors and those practiced by other lower classes, since samurai warriors were considered noble, and occupied higher positions in the pyramid of the stratified Japanese hierarchy. Some authors separate them according to the use or not of weapons, and the predominance of mechanical or anatomical weapons as primary combat weapons. Particularly, I think a better way to classify the arts belonging to the Jutsu is best understood when they are classified as using or not using combat weapons. However, it's reasonable to consider that there are no disadvantages to classifying them in other ways, adjusting to what you think is more easily understood. The truth is that Bujutsu is constituted by two ideograms or Kanji, phonetically originated in China: "Bu": used from the oldest records of the Japanese nation to denote the military dimension of its culture. This differentiates it, for example, from the public ("ko") or civil

("bun") dimensions, both of which relate mainly to the functions of the imperial court. "Bu" later appeared in word compositions, such as "buke bumon", which identified "military families", unlike "kuge" or "kugyo", where the "ku" particle is a variation of the "ko" particle, referring to public nobles. So "bu" is linked to war, and when it comes to "bushi", we are reading "warrior" or "war person", since that's one of the meanings of the "shi" ideogram. If we consider the other meaning of shi, "gentleman", we have the political reading of "military nobles". In any case, by joining the ideograms "bu" and "jutsu", we will literally have the translation of "military technique or method", or, in plural, "military arts" or "military methods". As the aspects of combat or military aspects were almost completely dominated by the figure of the feudal warrior - an ideal prototype of the man prepared to fight, known as samurai or bushi - the term "Bujutsu" was applied to denote the extent of practices and arts related to Japanese Martial Arts. Naturally, there are other terms that are used to refer to the doctrine of these arts that intend to make as clear as possible the proposals and the nature of these disciplines, and "Bugei" is one of them. "Bu", as explained above, is related to militarism, to martial spirit. "Gei", in turn, means "art" or "presentation". Thus, "Bugei" is the union of two kanji or ideograms, the interpretation of

which is "war art or performance" denoting a more generic aspect, which includes and encompasses the various specializations, not only of "Bujutsu", but also of the sub specializations thereof, while "Bujutsu" denotes the strategy or functionality of these war arts, the way in which these practices achieve their objectives. In short, we could say that the Bujutsu has emphasized in its ideograms the sense of doctrine that encompasses and represents the combat arts practiced by Japanese warriors or war professionals in feudal Japan, as well as the fighting practices of other classes that possessed any of the individual combat arts. Thus, when we talk about Bujutsu, we emphatically refer to the real form of war, strategies and technical methods of those combat arts. Specializations and their classifications, in turn, due to the huge amount and their degrees of influence, assumed positions according to their role as protagonist in the history of Japan, of the bushi or samurai warriors, and of their practices for the basic training of fighting and combat. In a classification, we first would have what Oscar Ratti and Adele Westbrook, in the book "Secrets of the Samurai" - Tuttle Publishing, call "Major Martial Arts". The following would be the so called "Minor Martial Arts", although they do not reduce their popularity in other classes and their efficiency, considered of great traditionalism and strategic importance. Other arts that do not fit into those first two categories, finally make up the last group, called for years by some authors "Collateral Arts of Combat". Arts such as "Hojojutsu" (immobilization with ropes), "Chikujojutsu" (fortification), are excluded from this category because they are more specifically related to the art of war itself, but in the collective, rather than in the individual combat field.

What is Kyusho? The scope of this Kyusho-Jitsu Article is as a general discussion about basic Kyusho application, theory, and as an introduction to this Art, (which is not new, but rather rediscovered and prospering worldwide). Evan Pantazi has traveled internationally teaching this Art and removing the mysterious cloud that surrounds it. The term "Pressure Points" is an ever-increasing catch phrase not only in Martial Arts, but also all the way through hundreds of advertisements including even mattress sales. The same thing goes for the vast numbers of unskilled and self-proclaimed instructors promoting that they too know the pressure points. In many magazines you read that this and that instructor can do pressure points and many may, just not Kyusho Jitsu. Kyusho is far from pushing a point here or there, but rather a way to systematically weakening the opponent through the weaker anatomical structures of the body. This has always been and will be a topic of heated debate, but more and more Martial Artists are realizing its truth, worth and potential! Let's answer a few of the most popular questions I hear at seminars and from interested people and new students of the Art: Kyusho literally translates as "First Second",

meaning that within the first second of the conflict, the control is in the hands of the practitioner. This is accomplished by using the weaker anatomical structures to dysfunction ("deteriorate") the human body. It is not, and has never been knocking the opponent unconscious, but rather, incapacitating the attacker without physical damage.

Is it Dangerous? It can and was originally intended to be, however it can also be tailored to fit the need of today’s legal parameters and much safer than conventional methods. What is dangerous in today’s Litigious Society, is teaching how to damage the physical body, as opposed to disrupting its function to incapacitate the opposition. For example, if you attack someone’s eye, permanent and observable physical disfiguration will occur. Not only is this unethical, but in a Court of Law you are now in double jeopardy and liable for your actions and damages. Using Kyusho properly no outward physical damage can be observed, therefore the burden of proof lay within conjecture and speculation, as no precedence has been set. This in the legal system, will be very hard to prove and a much more arguable defense.

Will it work in a real situation? Yes, it can and has been used for centuries; this is not a new art but one that has resurfaced after much secrecy and misleading dissemination of watered down intent. Whereas most self-defense methods rely on speed and power (diminishing qualities as we age), Kyusho relies on a change of focus and timing (qualities that improve with age). We are not teaching a Martial Art per say, but rather a series of weaker anatomical areas that anyone, regardless of style (or even if they do not study Martial Arts), can use quickly and efficiently. Kyusho will give you a method to become more efficient, effective and confident!

How does it work? If you are new or struggling along in your Kyusho studies, look deeper into the following 3 areas. Focus on one point and make sure you stick with it until you have all 3 components in your practice...then move on to another point, one at a time, making sure you follow the following formula.

Kyusho There are three main components that make the Kyusho work, and this is what most studies do not focus on before they decide if it works or not: Relaxation: The amount of force used needs to be that of a 7-year-old when you strike. So those stiff strikes that the beginner delivers will not be efficiently deliver with the right energetics. Angle and direction; So many beginners have difficulty understanding the correct angle to inject energetics into the system. Broad siding or skimming targets seem to be the most common mistakes of the novice. Intent: This is the beginning of all advanced studies in Kyusho. New levels of skill can be obtained by understanding this key concept. How many beginners strike with the idea thinking that this will not work or I hope this works, instead of seeing or feeling the opponent drop.

Revival and energetic restoration The starting point in the study of Kyusho is centered on a fundamental aspect: revival and energetic restoration. Healing is the greatest aspect of Kyusho Study. Quite often we as Martial Artists rely too heavily on the Yang or the Hurting aspects rather than developing the whole set of concepts that embody Budo.

We very rarely find ourselves into life threatening situations, but we always fight with Nature as the aging process, being constantly attacked by disease and dysfunction that are our true opponents. Stress in this modern time is the main culprit, but there is so much more at hand. Learning to sooth and remedy the Family, Friends and Students are important endeavors and within the true spirit of Budo. Most interestingly however is that the study of these healing processes brings with it a true understanding of the anatomy, energetics and weaknesses to use in the Self-Protection aspects of the Art as well. On one hand the Kyusho Points stimulated can be used to heal and enhance energy flow or and the other to stop or reverse it causing anatomical dysfunction. The study always starts with the revivals and energetic restoration. There are 3 of them that are necessary to begin the journey into a more advanced and serious application, (these should be fully understood and assimilated by the practitioner before any other study). 3 Revivals: Lung Revival: This will teach restoration of energy to a single point...(actually the basis of all Kyusho studies will be the stopping, starting, rushing or reversing the flow direction of the bodies energetic system). It will also teach how to correctly transfer energy via a closed fist, with proper angle and direction as well as force dynamics. It stimulates the diaphragm to restore energy taken away via a strike or it can also draw excess

energy away to calm gasping actions. This is in conjunction with a glimpse of the peripheral energetic system as it relates to the study of Advanced Kyusho. Head Revival: This will be a more in depth look at energy flow within the entire body. Transfer of energetics via an open hand, principles of Yin and Yang. It reveals proper energy transfer via an open hand as well as addressing how to attack the Central Nervous System. Heart Revival: It has been used successfully to revive heart attack victims in several situations. And this will reveal the use of torque for energetic transfer to begin unlocking the methods of energetically affecting or attacking the internal organs.

Attacking Methods: The Pressure points of the body are the easiest place to manipulate the bodies energetic system. The 3 main ways to attack them are: Striking, which should be done in a manner that penetrates, rather than staying on the surface. It should also penetrate at a correct angle and direction that will travel along the energetic path way rather than on an angle that intersects it, (unless stopping the energy flow is your goal), as then you must strike to cause an interruption in the flow. Grabbing must always be done on points to increase the efficiency, pain and compliance factor. As the points

Kyusho always lay in between Muscles, Bones, Ligaments and Tendons, this will also allow a more secure grip. For example grasping someone's forearm is much more secure when digging the fingers in between the abovementioned structures, limiting the slip factor. Kicking must follow the above parameters already detailed in the strikes but with an understanding of the anatomical structures of the opponentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s legs. In all of the above-mentioned methods you must feel energy surge into your opponent from your weapons via the core of you (Dan Tien, Hara), from the ground, from the atmosphere or combinations of these 3 energy fields.

And furthermore! To be complete we must not overlook an aspect that is not considered within Martial Arts per say, but when making a complete study of the Human Condition it is very important. That is the study of these Pressure Points during sexual encounters. To stimulate these responses to a much higher levels, pressure points can be used before, during and after such encounters and all in accordance with the energetic cycles in the human body.

Conclusion Many Law Enforcement agencies and Medical Professionals are deeply involved in the study and use of Kyusho, and have even saved several lives on the street. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s effectiveness, control and nondamaging nature fall in with the necessary scope of these professions. The Military organizations are also looking at it, but on a more severe (as originally intended) method for hand to hand situations and training. We have been involved with many medical studies at all levels to determine what is at hand though some p ro g re s s h a v e b e e n m a d e a n d t h e re s e a rc h c o n t i n u e s , t h e We s t e r n m e d i c a l a p p ro a c h o f understanding is not yet complete. The study of Kyusho will enhance any Martial Art you study, and many facets of everyday life, as it brings you to a deeper level of understanding of the human anatomy. By integrating it into what you already do, you can vastly increase your own potential in Healing, Hurting and Hoopa! It isn't easy, but it is worth the effort!

In this new work, Olivier Pierfederici shows the difference between real Close-Combat and Self-Defense, something that is not always too clear. Grandmaster Rickson Gracie He has not fought for many years (since 2000). The unquestionable thing is that at the time he fought with a mastery without equal, he won with all the honors and earned, with more than enough merits and the respect, consecrating himself as a true legend. In Japan Rickson is, was and will be considered a myth, a force of nature. In Europe and the rest of the world a champion without equal, by many called the greatest. That is why we do not hesitate to affirm that Rickson is the guardian of invincibility that the Gracie family represented, the only man who would be more news for having lost, than for knowing that he has won again. There is much that is speculated and comments on this great among the greats, the truth is that Rickson has been linked to the world of martial arts and specifically Jiu-Jitsu since he was practically born. There is no doubt that many current masters and fighters, openly declare that their way of fighting, their ability and the good work of Rickson Gracie, represent the ultimate expression of the art of struggle even today, thus becoming a true virtuoso of our times.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu As a gentleman coexists outside and inside the Ring and the tatamis, he says he is a good person, because if in a confrontation he sees the possibility of winning without having to hit his rival, he will do so without hesitation. He will look for that definitive, stealthy and finalizing technique that has characterized him so much. His career in the world of competition begins at a very young age, at six years old, he begins to fight in competitions related to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, art from which a more expanded trend emerges with respect to the current Vale Tudo or MMA. At fifteen he already teaches the art that his father and his family in general had transmitted to him. At eighteen he gets his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and he says that since that time no one has managed to beat him by completion or K.O in any competition. He currently holds the black belt, ninth grade of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, an art he teaches in Los Angeles (California). In his youth, Rickson has a lot of contact with his older brothers Rolls and Rorion, both of whom already taught the art of HĂŠlio Gracie when Rickson begins his adventures in martial arts. He is very young and begins his training always under the supervision of his father and one of the instructors of the main academy. Later, when he is 14 or 15 years old, it is when he goes to Rolls, who, according to our champion's own words, was one of his main pillars and impulses in the daily work of the hard training he was subjected to. Rolls transmitted the warrior spirit, since he was a fighter by nature, much more than Rorion (says Rickson himself). Rolls represents for young Rickson everything he wanted to be when he grew up, he was the perfect coach and something that always fascinated our young Gracie is that Rolls, when he was fighting, he was looking for completion, he never wanted to finish on points or hitting, leaving a clear influence in his most advanced ward.

Despite all this, the training sessions and the demands of the competition, Rickson himself comments, that he has a very happy youth, in which he remembers how his father never hit them, neither he nor his brothers and He never harshly punished them, nor did he forbid them, another of the great passions that this fierce fighter has: Surfing, where, on the other hand, he is not doing as well sportingly speaking, as in the world of MMA. He says that the same pattern of behavior that his father instilled in them is the one he currently uses with his offspring. One of the fights that consecrated Rickson as perhaps his father's successor, was a fight against a fighter, much bigger and heavier than him called Zulu who had a record of 140-0-0. When he won this fight, Rickson created a great hall of fame in Brazil, which catapulted him to the top of the world of fighters, as

one of the best nationwide, thus reliving the flame of reputation, as true warriors of the Gracie family. Five years later the rematch was made before this fighter, this time before an audience of 20 thousand spectators, he won again, making clear the good fighter caste and thus reaffirming the reason for his fame. Rickson has insatiably competed in a multitude of events, boasts a record of more than 486 fights between JiuJitsu, Wrestling, Sambo, MMA and fights tournaments, to name them in some way, more street. Of which in 484 he is the undisputed winner by KO or submission, a draw against Marco Ruas and a lost fight, for a Take-down in the US nationals of Sambo by Ron Tripp in 1993. He is

t w i c e Brazilian champion of Free Style Wrestling , winner of a gold medal in the Sambo World Championships and for sixteen years he has obtained the light heavyweight title and the weightless division of the BJJ World Championship, champion of the Open Vale Tudo of Brazil in its 1994 and 1995 editions. Rickson also winner of Pride 1 and 4 events in 1997 and 1998 respectively and more recently and last fight in Coliseum 2000. Maestro Franco Vacirca Master Franco Vacirca begins practicing Martial Arts in 1977 doing Judo in his hometown, Kloten. Even when he is very young, an American Martial Arts magazine arrives that encourages him to go out into the world, travel to explore and learn other Martial Arts. He began attending seminars and studying other styles, despite his youth he met martial artists from around the world, Stephen K. Hayes (Ninjutsu), Dan Inosanto (Jeet-Kune-Do / Filipino Kali) or Surachai Sirisute (Thaiboxing). As a result of this knowledge that he and his brother Demetrio Vacirca acquired, they founded their first training group in Zurich in 1988. Only a year later the Vacirca Academy of Martial Arts (VAMA) was born, there the students could train in Jeet-Kune-Do Concepts, Filipino Kali, Thaiboxing and JKD Grappling. The Grand Master of Muay Thai Surachai ÂŤChaiÂť Sirisute was invited to the inauguration of the academy. With the academy running he decides to travel to the US, he first lands in New York, but after a few days there he decides to change the New York cold for the heat of California.

During this multi-month training trip, Master Franco went to the Inosanto Academy, there he trains with Guru Dan Inosanto, Burt Richardson and especially with Paul Vunak, the founder of "Progressive Fighting Systems". Through Vunak in the fall of 1989, he meets Rickson Gracie, who was then known as one of the most important fighters of all time. In the Gracie Garage, he trained with him and his brothers Rorion and Royce. Between 1991 and 1995, the Vacirca brothers, decide to deepen only in two fighting styles influenced by the UFC and the clear dominance of Royce Gracie, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Thai Boxing, the Vacirca brothers were clear about the future of VAMA. On July 16, 1995, Master Franco travels back to the US to train with the Machado brothers (cousins of the Gracie’s). After that trip they open an Academy in Zurich Oerlikon, the BJJ being the first activity offered and the Thaiboxing as the second activity. After the successful participation of Team Vacirca (representing Switzerland) in the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Cup in 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, with a successful team of four men and two medals (one gold, one silver, all in the black belt category), the Vacirca brothers are recognized as BJJ black belts by the CBJJ, as well as Swiss representative and co-founder of the BJJ International Federation (IBJJF). Just one year later, Grand Master Sylvio Behring travels to the Zurich Academy to teach his first seminar. In the same year, Master Franco also had the first contact with who would later be his Master, Pedro Hemetério in Sao Paulo. Currently, Maestro Franco Vacirca continues to lead the Gracie Zuerich Academy and the prestigious Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network Europe, a distinguished member of the Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation team chaired by Grandmaster Rickson Gracie. With countless affiliated academies in Europe and many instructors trained in this organization now intends to bring the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network Europe also to Spain.

The founders of WTU Wing Tsun Universe, GM Sifu Alfred Neudorfer and Si-Mo Rosa Ferrante Bannera, present a new work, focused this time on Chum Kiu, the second of the "solo" movements or classic forms of Wing Tsun, from the WTU perspective. The WTU Chum Kiu, or "4 waves", is especially characterized by the use of the falling step, the 3 basic kicks (a Wing Tsun slogan for kicks says that "each step is a kick, and each kick is a step"), and the arm bridges, long and short bridges, which determine the way we come into contact with the attacker. The DVD includes the execution of the complete Chum Kiu movement, the 4 Chum Kiu sections with 3 applications for each one of them, with the use of the 3 basic kicks and the arm bridges.
