Dee Essley flew in from the recent Rotary International convention at Seattle to attend the Hoo-Hoo golf tourney and meeting June 18 at Lakewood (Calif.) Country Club. He had spent 10 days in Washington state at the Rotary meeting and rvith the Vancouver Plywood Company on business. Mrs. Essley accompanied her husband, head man of D. C. Essley and Son, Los Angeles lumber and plywood distributor, on the trip.

George Turner, rvho was formerly with E. J. Stanton & Son, Inc., Los Angeles, is nou' handling sales in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties for Rajah Lumber Company, Los Angeles, Phil Kelty announced last month. Turner lives in Redlands ancl is rvell kno.n'n throughout the "Kite" area.

Bill Howe, sales manager of Tropical and Western Lumber Company, Los Angeles, is the proud papa of a son born June 22. William, Jr., and his n.rother are doing okay and Bill has been passing out cigars by the hundreds to friends and customers.

Ed Halligan, head man for Roddis California, Inc., Los Angeles, returned from Chicago in time to attend the Hardwood Association convention last month rvith his wife. They spent a rveek at Ojai Valley Inn.

C. R. (Bob) Taenzer, president of the American Hardwood Co., Los Angeles, is spending the summer at his beautiful lodge on the shore of Lake Arrorvhead. He commutes between Los Angeles and the lake when business requires his attention in the citv.

Power tools and construction hardu'are valued at $1636 were stolen during the night recently from the yard of the Baldwin Park (Calif.) Lumber Co., owned by Viney-Milliken Lumber Company, Covina. The thieves broke the lock on a gate, backed in a truck and left u.ith the loot.

Ralph Lamon of the Lamon Lumlter Co. returned to San Francisco after a $'eek's trip to southern Oregon, where he visited mill connections.

Matt Ryan and Marion Snead of Hedlund Lumber Sales, Inc., Sacramento and lModesto, respectively, spent several days the latter part of June visiting mill connections in Northern California.

Willis R. Hanes, r.vell-known Southern California lumber salesman, has been appointed southwestern representative for the Menasha Sales Corporation of North Bend, Oregon. He u'ill make his headquaqrters in Los Angeles.

Pat McKeehan of the Hammond Lumber Company, mill representative for the Southern division rvho has been witl,. the company eight years, leaves the rveek of July 19 on a trip to the mills at Samoa and Eureka, Calif. He rvill spend a week at the mills and follow it rvith his annual vacation.

Mack Giles of the Drakes Bay Lumber Rafael, Calif., visited mill connections in fornia for a week recently.
