On June 18 and 19, the Winton Lumber Sales Co. of California held its regular quarterly sales rne,eting at the Sacramento offit:e. Winton's representatives: Joe Petrash, Los Angeles; Ewing Stewart, San Joaquin Valley; Jirn Fraser and Hal Roberts, Bay area, and Ted Wassard, Sacramento Valley, were present for the conferences.
All personnel visited tl-re Placerville Lumber Cornpany facilities and that firm's production for the coming season was discussed. The Winton Lumber sales staff is to market this year's output of the Placerville Lumber Co. in addition to the volume from established mill connections.
The Placerville Lumber Co. was established in March, 1937, and is owned by Harvey E. West. Facilities consist of a sawmill at Freshpond and a combination drying yartl and remanufacturing plant at Placerville. The firrn specializes in sugar pine, ponderosa pine and white fir, and both the sawmill and planing mill have a capacity of 100,000 feet BM per eight-hour shift. The timber manufacturecl by this plant is old growth stock logged from 3,500 f,eet an<l higher.

Washington, D.C.-Gerald F. Prange, 31, has been appointed assistant to Richard G. Kimbell, vice president of technical services for the National Lumber Manufacturers Association. The appointment, according to NLMA Executive Vice President lro V. Bodine, will make possible expanded activities in the Technical and Standards department.
