Bunnik Tours to take Australia by storm in 2022/2023 Like you, we can't wait to get back
out in the world. We've missed the sights, the experiences and our wonderful tour guides, but most of all we've missed you, our curious, good humoured and open-hearted explorers! We are driven by two guiding principles when we design our small group tours. First, everything we do is about your experience, which is why we only run tours with a maximum of 20 people - that's less time waiting, more time exploring. Second, when done properly, tourism can be an incredible force for good that generates economic and social benefits in the places we visit.
Our small group tours connect people, places and cultures, which is important to help break down barriers, create lifelong memories and, best of all, share the benefits of tourism with all. We have limited our group size to a maximum of 20 travellers since 2011. We knew this was the best way for you to really get to the heart of what our destinations offer. That small group size brings many other benefits too, including a balance of organised sightseeing, special local experiences and time for you to independently explore your surrounds. Some of the best experiences are when you wander away from the group and make your own discoveries.
As a family business we have always been committed to providing you with an exceptional and safe touring experience. Be welcomed aboard our spacious coaches where there are always plenty of free seats. With room to spread out and take in the incredible views, it also provides appropriate space for social distancing throughout the vehicle. There is so much to discover of our incredible country, from the Top End to Tassie, across the Nullarbor to WA and down to Kangaroo Island. You can expect to see more, experience more and enjoy more on a Bunnik tour - with no hidden extras. Dennis, Marion & Sacha Bunnik

The Bunnik Way T
ravelling the Bunnik Way means touring in a small group made up of like-minded people. People who want to connect with the places and cultures they visit. People who share a love and passion for this incredible planet and its inhabitants. With you in mind, our itineraries include a balance between: all the famous landmarks that you rightly expect to see on tour unique local experiences that only small groups can access plenty of time for independent exploration and discovery. We believe there is no better way to create lifelong memories and really get to the heart of all that a destination has to offer!
Being a responsible tourist Bunnik Tours firmly believes that
tourism can create understanding between cultures and generate economic and social benefits in the places we visit. Our small tour groups are lowimpact and don’t ruin the very places we go to see. We build in free time to help spread economic benefits and design itineraries to avoid over-tourism where possible. 8
Environmental Responsibility We are focussed on reducing our environmental footprint with initiatives in place within some of our most popular destinations in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. The Bunnik Travel Group Charity Program The Bunnik Travel Group is committed to giving back to the communities we visit. For each booking received we make
a donation to the following organisations which do a tremendous job helping the less fortunate. Over the years we have raised and donated more than $100,000 through this program. The charities supported include the Sri Lanka Community Projects, Tanzeed, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Walk to Cure Diabetes program, Bali Kids / Carry for Kids and the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Our small group tours We create small group tours to the world’s finest destinations. Explore all the key sites. Delve into destinations with experiences that we’ve specifically designed to connect you to a place and its people. Sample local delicacies. And make lasting friendships along the way. All in a group that never exceeds 12 to 20 travellers. That small group size makes a big difference to your touring experience. It really is the best way to connect with the world’s cultures, history and people.
Small group touring, is it for you? So, you’ve heard of the term
small group touring but what are the benefits and why should you choose to travel in a small group? From sharing dinner with local families, visiting destinations off the tourist track, to creating lifelong friendships, we uncover why small group touring is for every traveller. You don’t just see your destination, you really connect with it Travelling in a small group size gives much more freedom when it comes to exploring a destination. Put simply, you don’t just stop by all the main sights of a destination and then pile back onto a crowded bus. Whilst you still tick off all the bucket list items a destination has to offer, you also have the luxury of experiencing things that are off the tourist track. It’s these moments that allow you to connect with the people and culture of a destination, all while still exploring the key sites.
You create lasting friendships with fellow travellers A small group size of 12 – 20 travellers means you really get to know the people you’re travelling with. Before you arrive on the first day of your small group tour, you already have something in common with your fellow travellers – your love of travel and eagerness to explore and connect with your chosen destination. Enjoy the company of like-minded travellers throughout your tour, creating connections along the way - memories and friendships that last a lifetime.

You get better views with spare seats on all our vehicles Many group tours will continue selling until the bus is full. This can mean all 49 seats are taken which leaves fewer chances to access window seats. We keep spare seats on our vehicles so that even if our tour is full with 20 people there are still plenty of seats to choose from and greater access to the views no matter what side of the bus you happen to be on.

Small groups, unforgettable experiences. Logistics handled, more time to enjoy your holiday What's the difference between a regular coach tour and a Bunnik small group tour? There are definitely common benefits to both formats. With all the logistics taken care of, you're able to sit back and enjoy every moment of your holiday. You see more for your money and make great friends along the way. The real difference comes down to practicalities. On a traditional coach tour the group size is usually large, sometimes up to 45 people on a coach. There’s a lot of waiting for everybody to catch up or just to get on or off the bus, the extra time taken to allocate hotel rooms, check-in or order at a restaurant. Then there's being told where to sit on the bus and not getting the chance to have your questions answered because the guide is busy with everybody else. These issues exist on all large group tours, whether they are 3 or 5 star. It is for this reason that Bunnik Tours pioneered the concept of small group touring. Small group touring, where our maximum group size will never exceed 20 passengers, where we don’t hide behind 'average' group sizes or stretch the definition of a small group to extend to 40 people. In a small group you still have all the benefits of a group tour, but none of the irritations of travelling with a large group. Because we know that a smaller group makes for some unforgettable experiences.
14
Special experiences, local insight into customs and culture They allow us to get in touch with the world's people. After all, that's what a Bunnik small group tour is about - embracing people, culture and the world, through the fun, authentic experiences that connect us. We strive to make the special experiences intimate and profound. They're the type of thing you can't do on your own or on large group tours, and are what set our small group tours apart. The experiences are expansive, fun and memorable.

Small Groups Unforgettable Experiences
Port Arthur
Day 1. Arrive Hobart - Mt Field National D Park Excursion Welcome to Tasmania, Australia’s island state and home to jaw-dropping natural beauty. Arriving in Hobart, you’ll immediately be struck by the vibrant culture, trendy food scene and the towering Mt Wellington perched high above the city. After meeting the tour group at 12.00pm, we’ll venture out to Tasmania’s first national park, Mt Field, to see one of the state's favourite waterfalls Russell Falls. From the Visitor Centre, it’s just a short walk through the vibrant forest to this spectacular sight. This evening we’ll get to know each other over a welcome dinner. Day 2. Port Arthur Excursion B This morning we visit Salamanca Market. One of Australia’s most loved markets, you’ll be wowed by colourful stalls, music, local arts and crafts, tasty food and top-notch coffee. After some free time here, we'll travel to Port Arthur, taking in the stunning scenery of the Tasman Peninsula along the way. The convict settlement at Port Arthur tells the tale of Australia’s confronting colonial history, where you’ll see impressive ruins and learn about its checkered past, all while taking in the beautiful backdrop of dense forest and a picturesque harbour. We’ll feel the isolation experienced by the convicts and discover the history of the early Australian Penal system on a walking tour and harbour cruise. Day 3. Huon Valley Excursion B The scenic Huon Valley is our destination today. We’ll begin at the Tahune AirWalk for amazing aerial views of the surrounding forest canopy and Huon River below. We continue to the small township of Franklin, located on the banks of the Huon River. Here, we’ll visit a wooden boat workshop, learning about the handcrafted vessels they produce and the maritime history of the area. On the way back to Hobart, we'll venture to the top of Mt Wellington for exhilarating views of the beautiful city and harbour below. Day 4. Hobart - Mona - Bicheno BD This morning we’ll visit Tasmania’s renowned Museum of Old and New Art. Here, everchanging exhibits are on display inside a quirky, visually-stunning architectural masterpiece. Making our way to Bicheno, we visit the historical village of Richmond, famous for its bridge built by convicts in the 1820s. Located on Tasmania’s east coast, Bicheno is a much loved holiday destination for Tasmanians and visitors alike. Known for its beaches, coastal scenry, fishing and local wildlife, there is plenty to do in this resort town. Day 5. Freycinet National Park BLD Excursion Spend the day taking in the beautiful sights of Freycinet National Park and the surrounding area on a cruise. Freycinet National Park is a stunning region on Tasmania’s east coast, home to white sandy beaches and secluded bays, dramatic granite peaks and abundant wildlife. Boarding a boat, we’ll spend the next few hours cruising the sparkling coastline of the National Park. We’ll take in remarkably white beaches, the towering pink granite peaks of the Hazards range, wildlife on the banks of the remote Schouten Island and many hidden caves, blowholes and waterfalls, all while learning more about the rich indigenous and colonial history of the area. Back on dry land, those that are keen will have the opportunity to walk
the upper Wineglass Bay Lookout Trail, where we'll be rewarded with stunning elevated views of Wineglass Bay’s perfectly curved beach. Those looking for a less strenuous walk can venture to the Cape Torvar Lighthouse lookout, with its breathtaking views of the bay. Day 6. Freycinet National Park B Excursion As we make our way to Launceston today we travel via the Bay of Fires region, known for its white sand, sparkling blue water and large granite rocks that are splashed with vibrant orange lichen. Next we'll visit the Pyengana Dairy Farm, sampling delicious handcrafted cheese, including their signature Pyengana Cheddar. Our last stop along the way is the country town of Legerwood. Here, we’ll see the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees, commemorating fallen World War One soldiers. Upon arrival in Launceston we’ll have time to explore the city at our own leisure. Day 7. Launceston B A natural formation on the South Esk River, Launceston's Cataract Gorge is a tourist hub. Embarking on a cruise, we have a chance to explore more of the gorge, as well as the old and new facets of Launceston’s port precinct. We’ll cruise to Kings Wharf where we can view historic vessels and heritage properties, but the highlight is of course cruising past the sheer cliffs and cascades in the gorge, while hearing from the skipper about the fascinating history of the area. Afterwards we have the opportunity to see Cataract Gorge from the comfort of a chairlift, giving us a delightful birds eye view of the scenery below. In the afternoon we’ll travel to nearby Tamar Valley where we’ll get to visit one of the many wineries and enjoy a tasting of their products. Day 8. Launceston - Smithton BD Bring your appetite with you as we enjoy an exciting day of local produce! First, we pay a visit to a salmon and ginseng farm to learn about their sustainable practices, before continuing to a honey farm. Our journey then takes us through Sheffield, affectionately known as the ‘Town of Murals’, thanks to the more than 100 paintings throughout the town. We continue to the town of Smithton, seen as the gateway to the many attractions of the North West Coast. Day 9. Tarkine & Stanley Excursion BD See the highlights of Tasmania’s northwest coast, travelling through the Tarkine region and enjoy views of The Nut in Stanley. The Tarkine is the largest temperate rainforest in Australia and the second largest in the world. Our tour will take us through the forest, all the way to the ‘Edge of the World’! Gardiner’s Point has been given this title as it lies at the edge of the longest uninterrupted expanse of ocean on the globe. Here we’ll visit the lookout before heading to the township of Stanley to take a closer look at The Nut, a sheer sided bluff. Day 10. Smithton - Cradle Mountain B At 1,545 metres above sea level, Cradle Mountain isn’t Tasmania’s highest mountain, but it’s arguably it’s most iconic. Our travels today take us through the forest, stopping at Dip Falls for a photo opportunity of the dramatic falls. In the afternoon, we’ll stop to meet the resident Tasmanian devils and quolls at the world class Devils @ Cradle Wildlife Sanctuary facility. Day 11. Cradle Mountain - Strahan Remarkable Dove Lake sits at the bottom
of Cradle Mountain. Surrounded by a 6 kilometre board walk, we’ll have some time to stroll along and stop for fabulous photo opportunities on the way. Making our way to Strahan, we’ll pass by spectacular lakes, mountains and towns, and stop to visit the West Coast Heritage Centre. Day 12. Gordon River Excursion BL Enjoy a relaxing day as we cruise along the famous Gordon River. We travel to Hells Gate, the notoriously shallow and dangerous channel between the Macquarie Harbour and the Great Southern Ocean. We’ll also see Sarah Island, which was established as a penal settlement in the Macquarie Harbour in 1821. We savour a delicious lunch onboard and have the opportunity to experience two walking tours to deepen our understanding of these remote, pristine areas. Day 13. Strahan - Queenstown BLD - Hobart Experience the Rack and Gorge railway, a famous steam train journey through the rainforest of Tasmania’s west coast, through to the incredible King River Gorge. From the quaint township of Queenstown, we’ll get to experience climbing one of the Southern Hemisphere’s steepest rail tracks, using the unique power of the rack and pinion system. Along the way, we’ll stop at historic stations and our guide will tell us stories of the pioneers who lived and worked in these remote landscapes. We return to Hobart in the evening and enjoy a group farewell dinner. Day 14. Depart Hobart Today marks the end of our adventure exploring beautiful Tasmania.

Our destination is the charming German heritage-listed town of Hahndorf. Here, we’ll explore the enchanting main street that is lined with traditional German buildings housing boutiques, pubs, bakeries, and cafes. Day 5. Kangaroo Island BL Kangaroo Island was hard hit by the summer 2020 bushfires. Today, we spend the day on and off the tourist trail as we see how the
Island is recovering. Beginning at Seal Bay, we’ll have the opportunity to walk on the beach alongside a colony of endangered Australian sea lions, before seeing all sorts of native species at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. We’ll then visit Flinders Chase National Park at the far end of the Island, home to the Remarkable Rocks, a beautiful arrangement of granite boulders sculpted naturally by wind, sea spray and rain over the course of 500 million years. Just a short drive away from the Rocks, we’ll also visit Admiral’s Arch, where playful fur-seals can often be spotted from the boardwalk, swimming in the rock pools below. Day 6. We’ll admire Quorn’s beautiful heritage buildings and learn about the town’s past as a vibrant railway hub for the area. Step back in time, into another world as we travel into the Flinders Ranges. Dusty red rocks jut out of the dry and arid landscape, as long roads lead to the epicentre of the region – mighty Wilpena Pound. With a laidback and welcoming country hospitality and stunning scenery made world famous by the watercolour paintings of Sir Hans Heysen, it can be hard to forget that the region is just a five-hour drive from the heart of Adelaide. Day 9. Flinders Ranges BD Arguably the Flinders Ranges’ most iconic landmark, Wilpena Pound is a natural amphitheatre, home to impressive gorges and an abundance of wildlife. Optional Excursion - Enjoy extraordinary aerial views of Wilpena Pound on an incredible scenic flight. To avoid disappointment, it is strongly recommended to pre-book this optional prior to travel, as far in advance as possible.
