The Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center features monthly exhibits showcasing a variety of artists. Artists’ receptions provide an opportunity to meet the artists. Each exhibit is approximately three weeks. Come and enjoy the fabulous shows the gallery has to offer.
GALLERY SHOWS March 2 - 22, 2018 Fine Arts Federation I Opening Reception: March 2, 7– 9pm The Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Gallery will host the annual Fine Arts Federation Membership Exhibit 2018. The juried mixed media exhibit representing more than 60 artists will include painting, sculpture, pottery, collage and photography. The Fine Arts Federation, founded in 1976, is an avid supporter of the Creative Arts Center. Opening Reception and Presentation of Awards is on Friday, March 2, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Join us a little earlier at 6:45pm for the dedication ceremony of the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center.
April 5 - 26, 2018 Youth Art Expo 2018 I Opening Reception: April 5, 7– 9pm The Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Gallery and the Fine Arts Federation will host the annual Youth Art Expo. This annual exhibit represents student artwork (K – 12) from Burbank public and private schools. Opening reception and awards ceremony for Middle School and High School is on Thursday, April 5, 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Opening reception and awards ceremony for Elementary School is on Friday, April 6, 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Awards presentations for both events will be at 6:15pm. CULTURAL ARTS FINE ARTS FEDERATION Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center I 818.238.5397 I CACMail@burbankca.gov The Fine Arts Federation (FAF) is a non-profit organization who support arts within the community and is a valued supporter of the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center. The FAF helps support the Annual Youth Art Expo, Art Experiences Camp, and art classes and workshops held at the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center. Membership includes announcements for monthly gallery shows, opportunity to participate in the annual membership show held in March, and the opportunity to participate in the annual holiday boutique. Membership dues are $25 for individuals, $20 for seniors, and are valid for one calendar year.

The Level 2 program is constructed to give students success with fundamental swimming skills. Students will learn to swim on their front, back, and side using alternating and simultaneous arm and leg action with independent forward progression at least 15 feet from the wall. This course will prepare students for swimming 25 yards across the width of the pool, with the instructor providing aid until the student builds endurance for completing the skill independently.
Proof of passing Level 1 or swim evaluation for Level 2 required
The Level 1 program is constructed to build introductory swim and water safety skills for participants while promoting comfort and enjoyment in the water. This class is designed to get young children introduced to an aquatic environment by emphasizing a fun experience in the water. In addition to introductory skills to improve comfort in the water and swimming readiness, safety skills and cues will also be covered. YOUTH WATER POLO
The Water Polo team is a recreational team where participants are eligible to play in games against other recreational teams throughout the winter season. Daily practices include dry-land work outs, swim sets, and water polo fundamentals training including positioning, passing, and shooting. Students must be able to demonstrate 50 continuous yards in both the freestyle and backstroke and the ability to tread in deep water for 1 minute. The youth swim team focus on improving skills in the freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, and butterfly. BRAILLE LOW VISION REHABILITATION VAN This monthly van features a wheelchair lift, LCD televisions for instructional videos, and demonstration areas for the latest low vision devices. Visitors can receive free lowvision rehabilitation consultations, learn more about Braille Institutes’s Library Services, and qualified patrons can sign up to receive talking books. Please bring a referral from your eye doctor. HEARING SCREENING / TELEPHONE PROGRAM When: 3rd Wednesday of each month I 9:00-11:00am An Audiologist will examine your ears, check your hearing, and if you have hearing loss, issue a form for a free amplified telephone from the California Telephone Access Program. LEGAL ADVOCATE SERVICES When: 2nd Thursday of each month I 9:00am-12:30pm A legal representative from Bet Tzedek (House of Justice) Legal Services is available to assist low income individuals, 55 years or older. The DeBell Golf Club is an 18-hole facility which features 5,608 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 68.9 and it has a slope rating of 122 on Kikuyu grass. Designed by William F. Bell, William H. Johnson and Richard Bigler; the DeBell Golf Club opened in 1959 as a bright, new addition to LA Golf. DeBell Golf Club also offers four clubs to be a part of: The Burbank Men’s Golf Club, The Burbank Senior Men’s Club, The Burbank Women’s Club and The Lady Duffers. For more information on these clubs please contact the Pro Shop for details. This club offers a regulation 18-hole course and a Par-3 course. The regulation course is very tight and hilly making it challenging for the more seasoned golfer yet still enjoyable for the beginners. The Youth Sports Program provides various instructional camps, sports leagues, and special programs throughout the year. Recreational competition is provided for both boys and girls. Teams are coached by volunteers who share their time and talent The City of Burbank is a member of the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) which advocates positive and safe sports and activities for children.
YOUTH TEAM REGISTRATION Youth sports league registration is accepted on a “team basis.” Individual players’ names will be added to a Free Agent List. Players’ names are distributed to existing teams expressing an interest in adding new players or to new teams that are forming. For those players not contacted and placed on a team, their parents are required to attend a parent’s meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to recruit new coaches. Staff will make every attempt to recruit coaches for these players, however there is no guarantee of placement on a team. VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED All teams are coached by volunteers looking to make a difference in the lives of children. Volunteers do not have to have a child enrolled in the program. Training and certification is provided.
SCOREKEEPER TRAINING Earn $10 and up per game! The Youth Scorekeeper program is available to youth in 7th grade and above. Scorekeepers are needed for youth baseball (February), softball (February), and basketball (September/October).

ADULT SPORTS ADULT SPORTS The Adult Sports Program offers men and women an opportunity to participate in organized leagues in a recreational setting. Registration is accepted on a “team basis” only. Individuals may put themselves on a player referral list but there is no guarantee of team placement. Divisional classifications range from top-flight play to low-level recreational leagues in a variety of sports. The adult program offers play in basketball, roller hockey, slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball, and volleyball.
REGISTRATION League registration takes place for a two-week period online and at the Sports Office during the regular business hours. Teams may pay to secure their spot with payment online or in the Sports Office, and submit all required paperwork by the end of the registration period. Players may only play for one team per league and may play in multiple leagues. The $25 resident discount applies to teams in which 75% of the team lives or works in Burbank with proof required by registration deadline. Teams registering in the Corporate Coed Slow Pitch league must maintain 66% of players working for one company. Non-resident fee applies to all others. Officials fees are paid in cash by each team at the beginning of each game. Softballs provided. Registration is on a first come first serve basis, and space is limited in each league.

Students will be captivated by a variety of one hour visual and performing arts workshops designed to intrigue, enrich, and inspire! Activities will be integrated by a thematic approach which adds special focus to these dynamic experiences. CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION GENERAL INFORMATION • • • • • •
All class registration will only be accepted through the second class meeting and all original class fees will apply. Non-Resident fees apply to those living outside of the City of Burbank. Non-Residents must include an additional $10 per person, per class. Enrollment is subject to availability. Programs are filled on a first come, first served basis. All programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. Class schedules are correct up to the date of publication, however may be subject to change without notice. Guests of Enrolled Participants: Permitting classroom visits are at the discretion of the Instructor who has the responsibility to protect the learning environment and develop rules and procedures to maintain a safe classroom setting. Classroom visits are arranged directly with the Instructor under any rules that the Instructor may establish.
REFUND / TRANSFER POLICY The City of Burbank strives to provide quality recreation classes and programs. If you are unable to attend or are not satisfied with a class, we will be happy to arrange a transfer to another class (if space is available) or process a refund if the following guidelines are met: • A $10 processing fee will be deducted from all participant initiated refund requests. • Class lasting 3 or more weeks - A request for refund/ transfer must be given to registration staff a minimum of one business day prior to the second class meeting. No refund/transfer will be issued after the second class meeting. • Class or workshop lasting 2 or fewer weeks - A request for refund/transfer must be given to registration staff a minimum of five business days prior to the scheduled start date of the class or workshop. No refund/transfer will be issued after this date. • Material/Supply fees are non-refundable. • Refunds issued by check will take between 3-6 weeks to receive in the mail.
