This July, tell us about your Parks and Recreation story! Parks and Recreation is at the center of our collective experiences and memories — often as our first experiences to nature, an introduction to sports, arts & culture, and healthy lifestyles, ways of connecting with community, opportunities to build lifelong skills, and where we continue to make everlasting memories across generations. Our beautiful parks provide safe and welcoming spaces to gather with friends and family, sites to celebrate life’s special moments, spots of respite and healing, places that connect us with diverse recreational opportunities and essential services, and community hubs for people of all ages and backgrounds. Since 1925, Burbank Parks and Recreation has held true to its mission as the heart of the community by providing enriching opportunities through dedicated people, beautiful parks, and inspiring programs. Over the years, we have heard countless stories about your favorite moments at the park, out in nature, on the court or on the ball field, in the pool, out experiencing art, and in your community. Our shared experiences make up a strong, vibrant, and resilient Burbank. Let’s celebrate our shared stories!

Claude is a native of South Dakota and graduated from California State University Northridge with a degree in Fine Arts. He taught almost every art form at the Besty Lueke Creative Arts Center for over 45 years. While he retired in 2000, he continued to teach advanced level ceramics as a contract instructor for another eighteen years.

Martin’s favorite firing technique is raku. He uses this method to create intense metallic lusters and utilizes the movement of the liquified glaze to create and accentuate patterns and textures. These pieces are mainly decorative and have limited functional uses.

The Burbank Art Association is a non‑profit volunteer organization serving artists and the community since 1950. Members consist of artists at all stages from beginner to professional level.
