VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING

Keeping Our Community Engaged and Connected

Over the last year, we have all faced many challenges and have had to make large adjustments to our daily life. Through it all, Burbank Parks and Recreation has continued to offer the community ways to stay engaged, active, and connected. At first, we took quick and decisive action to increase the safety of our patrons such as suspending or modifying in-person classes and events to meet health guidelines. Soon after, we kept our community connected with the addition of Virtual classes and activities for all age groups. Youth sports changed from our normally programmed leagues to socially distant programs that focused on skills and practice drills. Our 55+ Bingo was successfully converted into a Virtual event that allowed our older adult population a way to take part in fun and themed programming with the Joslyn staff. In our aquatic section, we were able to keep our pools open with a reduced lap swim schedule and continue our swim classes at a reduced capacity. Looking ahead in the coming season, the City of Burbank Department of Parks & Recreation continues to offer a wide range of classes and activities for your recreation needs. We continue to adapt and provide programming that will be safe and enjoyable for all of our patrons and we invite you to stay connected.

VIRTUAL RECREATION CLASSES In addition to our many in-person classes, we have added 50 new virtual recreation classes to our catalog. Browse various classes from martial arts to chess, all from the comfort of your own home! Look for the Virtual tag in the class description to find out which classes are offered online.

GET OUT AND BE ACTIVE Participate in great socially distant and outdoor activities such as “Hike Burbank” and “Pitch, Hit, Run”. Challenge yourself and have fun! See Page 66 for more details. Join us for an egg-citing time at this year’s Egg-stravaganza! See Page 72 for more details.

VIRTUAL WAYS TO PLAY MORE! We are all doing our part to slow the spread of COVID-19, however that doesn’t mean we can’t still maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Burbank Parks and Recreation has compiled a resource list of fun and safe ways to stay active, connected, and enriched during this time. Find fitness and wellness tutorials for all ages, at-home learning activities, and virtual tours to various destinations and cultural attractions. Try something new and let us know if you have any resources you would like to share! Visit: www.burbankca.gov/virtualrec.
