Staff will continue to work closely with State and local officials and follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to slow the spread of COVID-19. The re-opening of parks and facilities will occur in phases and requires physical distancing and infection control practices. The City has adopted a framework of thoughtful best practices and policies to safely resume full operations in a phased approach that best serves the community. NEW FACILITY OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES: Protecting and supporting staff and customer health Staff has been trained on enhanced precautions and safety measures. Protective equipment will be utilized by staff and throughout the facility to minimize risk. Handwashing and regular disinfecting Enhanced healthy hygeine, cleaning and sanitation standards are adopted to ensure proper infection control. Physical Distancing Occupancy is limited in accordance to health/safety guidance. Distancing markers are placed to guide in physical distancing requirements. Posted Signage Signage is posted to communicate protocols; please adhere to all posted signage. Ensuring Equitable Access to Services Access to critical services is prioritized.
Remember, we’re in this together! Class offerings, times, lap swim hours, and other programming will operate in a reduced or limited capacity to allow for proper physical distancing. As the situation has been ever evolving, the Aquatics Section will do its best to communicate changes in a timely and effective manner. RULES & REGULATIONS VERDUGO WATERSLIDE RULES AND REGULATIONS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED Compliance is mandatory. Noncompliance of these rules will result in the rider being directed to leave the premises.
1. Minimum height for riders is 47” inches. 2. Maximum weight for riders is 265 lbs. 3. Slide feet first in a sitting position or on your back only. 4. Only one rider at a time in each flume. 5. Dispatch only when directed by attendant. 6. Do not attempt to stop on the slide. 7. Keep hands inside the flume while using the slide. 8. Each rider must immediately leave the waterslide pool plunge area. 9. No person is to cause, suffer, or permit rough behavior or harassment of other persons in the waterslide pool, on the flume, walkways or platforms. 10. Glass bottles and other articles containing glass and sharp objects are not to be carried or used within the flume, waterslide pool and its surrounds or the walkways. 11. Waterslide riders are not to wear any personal effects such as jewelry, grommets on swimsuit, watches, or eye glasses which are likely to result in personal injury to the rider, other riders, or cause damage to the waterslide. 12. No running or horseplay. 13. Persons are not to use the waterslide in a manner which will cause bodily injury to other slide riders. 14. Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted to use the waterslide. 15. Do not ride this waterslide unless your physical health is sound. 16. Health authorities warn that it is considered unsafe to use a waterslide:
If you are pregnant
For persons with limb or back weakness/disability
For persons with heart ailments
For persons with any condition which could predispose them to further aggravation of their
pre-existing condition or injury.
17. Management reserves the right to refuse entry to any person at all times, ie., where the person is under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or for any other reason considered to create a potential hazard for that rider or other persons. The City of Burbank’s certificate of compliance can be found in the aquatics office at the Verdugo Aquatic Facility.

RULES & REGULATIONS VERDUGO & MCCAMBRIDGE POOL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Permission to use the pool will be granted upon the condition that all swimming pool rules and regulations will be followed. 2. Final interpretation of these rules will be determined by Aquatics Staff. All decisions made by Aquatics Staff are final. Violations will be addressed according to the Consequences section outlined in the Facility Rules of Conduct. All formal appeals will also be governed by the rules contained within the Facility Rules of Conduct. 3. No one is permitted in the water unless a lifeguard is on duty. This refers to having a lifeguard on deck or in the lifeguard tower assigned the specific duty of observing the pool and its users. 4. All patrons must shower and use the restroom facilities before entering the pool. 5. Patrons entering the pool must be properly dressed in attire that is specifically designed for swimming. Lined swim suits only. No cut-offs, basketball shorts, T-shirts, or undergarments (Rash guard shirts are acceptable). 6. Changing or disrobing of any kind is not allowed on deck including the unfastening or untying of straps for sunbathing. 7. Any person having an infectious or communicable disease or open wound is prohibited from using a public pool. This includes but is not limited to: diarrhea, cold, cough, sores, wearing bandages, etc. 8. Running, hazardous activities, boisterous or rough play, or excessive noise in the pool area, showers, or dressing rooms is forbidden. 9. Alcoholic beverages or illegal substances are prohibited. 10. Smoking is prohibited, including vape pens and e-cigarettes. 11. Spectators and sunbathers are permitted only in specifically designated areas. Areas surrounding safety equipment, emergency gates, and in front of all doorways, are to be kept clear at all times. 12. Diving in shallow water is not permitted. Jumping into the pool from the side must be feet first and only from designated areas. 13. Animals are not allowed in the Facility, with the exception of service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The owner must have full control of the service animal at all times. The City of Burbank Parks and Recreation Department is not responsible for lost or stolen property. All swimmers should be fully aware of the risks and hazards inherent in participating in aquatic activities including swimming, utilization of diving boards, and use of the activity pool and waterslides. Serious accidents may occur during participation in aquatic activities and participants can suffer serious injury or death. NO MEDICAL INSURANCE IS PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF BURBANK FOR ANY INJURIES THAT MAY OCCUR TO PARTICIPANTS DURING PARTICIPATION IN AQUATIC ACTIVITIES. ALL PARTICIPANTS PARTICIPATE IN AQUATIC ACTIVITIES AT THEIR OWN RISK.

RULES & REGULATIONS OPERATIONAL AND POLICY CHANGES NEW! 1. All persons on deck are to wear face coverings while at the facility. 2. All persons are required to maintain 6 feet of distance in and out of the water at all times. 3. Physical distancing markers will be present on deck to demonstrate appropriate distance for guests and staff. Congregating is strictly prohibited on deck at all times. 4. For payment, all guests are to enter through the Lobby. Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard) payments are highly preferred; Cash payment is still accepted. 5. All swim lessons and teams shall ENTER through the black double gates by California Street. This is a oneway entrance. 6. All programs shall EXIT through the blue double doors in the Activity Pool by Rosemary Lane. This is a oneway exit. 7. Chairs will be limited to certain programs. 8. Guests must leave the facility immediately after conclusion of their program or business. There shall be no congregating in or outside of the facility. 9. Drinking fountains will remain available only to refill water bottles. 10. Lap Swimmers will be allowed to choose their lane under the following guidelines: • 2 Swimmers per lane • 1 @ each end of the lane • Lane splitting only. No Circle Swimming at this time. 11. Sharing of equipment between members of different households is highly discouraged. Lap Swimmers are encouraged to bring their own swim equipment. 12. Kickboards & Pull Buoys will be available for Parks & Recreation instructional programming only. 13. Guests are encouraged to come prepared to swim. Locker Room access may be limited. 14. Locker Rooms will be unavailable for congregating, grooming, and post-program showering. • Hand washing and use of the toilets and urinals will be available. • Breaks between Swim Lessons, Lap Swimming, and Group Time have been implemented in order to clean and disinfect areas in the facility. 15. Signage will be posted on deck to denote specific spaces, rules, and policies.
LAP SWIM RULES AND REGULATIONS UPDATED! Lap lanes are designated for swimming and should not be used for lounging or playing. Recreation swim is not allowed. Participants not actively swimming will be asked to exit the lap lane(s). 1. Participants must be thirteen (13) years or older (with the exception of children who are members of a sanctioned swim team). 2. No standing in the middle of the lane(s). Rest must be taken on the walls, in either corner, not on the center tee. 3. Starting blocks are for competition and sanctioned practices only and are closed to the general public. 4. Professional or private coaching is not allowed during lap swim hours. 5. Swimmers shall not stop on the same side of the pool. 6. During high traffic times, lap swimmers shall be limited to a 45-minute swim.

RULES & REGULATIONS RECREATION SWIM RULES AND REGULATIONS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED Recreation swim is supended until the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health eases restrictions to allow for a safe and equitable reopening of the recreational swim program.
1. Permission to use the pool will be granted upon the condition that all swimming pool rules and regulations will be followed. 2. Final interpretation of these rules will be determined by Aquatics Staff. All decisions made by Aquatics Staff are final. All violations and formal appeals will be governed by rules contained within the Facility Rules of Conduct. 3. No one is permitted in the water unless a lifeguard is on duty. This refers to having a lifeguard on deck or in the lifeguard tower assigned the specific duty of observing the pool and its users. 4. Children under the age of seven (7) must be actively supervised in the water by an adult (18 years of age or older), at all times. Limit two (2) children per one (1) adult. Accompanied means holding onto or being within ten (10) feet of the child; parents may not abandon a child in the shallow end of the pool in order to swim in the deep end, dive, or sun bathe on deck. Children under 47 inches tall must be within arm’s reach of a supervising adult at all times. 5. Swim diapers must be worn by infants and children who are under three (3) years old or who are not toilet trained. 6. No foreign objects are allowed in the pool, such as toys, fins, inner tubes, inflatables (including water wings), rocks, weapons, and kick boards. 7. Outside food and drink are prohibited. Ice chests and coolers are prohibited. Individuals bringing in outside food will be asked to either place it in their vehicle, consume items in the park, or dispose of it. 8. Food purchased on site must be consumed in the snack shack area. 9. Personal flotation devices (PFD) in the swimming pool are prohibited unless U.S. Coast Guard approved. This PFD must be clearly labeled as U.S. Coast Guard approved for the weight of the specific user. 10. Deep Water Swim Test: Individuals under the age of eighteen (18) wishing to swim in deep water must submit to and pass a deep-water swim test. This test will be initiated by Aquatics staff. This test must be passed on a per visit basis. The Deep Water Swim Test consists of twenty-five (25) yards of front crawl. Swimmers must display proper form during the entire length of the test. This includes swimming face down, with rotary breathing, and appropriate arm and leg movements. Doggy paddling, sculling, underwater swimming, breaststroke, backstroke, or any other form of swimming are prohibited and are grounds for disqualification.
DIVING BOARD RULES AND REGULATIONS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED
1. For individuals under the age of eighteen (18), a deep water swim test must be passed prior to going off the diving board(s). This test will be initiated by Aquatics Staff. This test must be passed on a per visit basis. The Deep Water Swim Test consists of twenty-five (25) yards of front crawl. Swimmers must display proper form during the entire length of the test. This includes swimming face down, with rotary breathing, and appropriate arm and leg movements. Doggy paddling, sculling, underwater swimming, breaststroke, backstroke, or any other form of swimming are prohibited and are grounds for disqualification. 2. Only one (1) person is allowed on the diving board platform at a time. 3. Divers are only cleared to jump off the diving board and enter the water when the diving well is clear and a lifeguard has signaled them to do so. 4. Divers may not climb up to the board(s) until the water has been vacated by the previous diver(s). 5. Diver(s) must exit immediately by using the ladder closest to them. 6. Only one bounce is allowed before entering the water. 7. No backflips are permitted on either board. 8. No running is allowed on either board. 9. The following is not allowed when using the 3 meter board (High Dive): head first entries, flips, or twists.
10. Diver(s) are required to promptly follow all directions from lifeguard staff.

LAP SWIM REFUNDS • Refunds will only be issued in the event the facility is closed within the first 30 minutes of admission. A lap swim pass will be issued in lieu of a refund in the event that more than 30 minutes have elapsed since entry into the facility. • Lap Swim passes and fees are valid at both McCambridge Pool and Verdugo Aquatic Facility. • There are no in/out privileges on single admission or per visit passes. Each entrance is considered a single visit. Lap swim pass refund policy: • $10 refund processing fee will be assessed for each transaction. • Passes are not transferrable. • Refunds on passes are prorated based on the time/amount remaining on the unused portion of the pass.

Our friendly and experienced instructors provide group swim lessons for ages 3 to 13 years old, from the beginner to the advanced swimmer. Classes are divided by age group. Preschool levels 1- 3 are for children aged 3 to 6 years old. Youth Levels 1 – 5 are for children aged 7 – 13 years old. Please enroll in classes based on the appropriate swim level description and prerequisites. If your child does not meet the minimum requirements of the class every effort will be made to transfer them to the appropriate level. If there are no transfer options available, a refund will be processed and your child will be dropped from the class. All applicable refund fees will apply. After the class meets maximum enrollment, additional students will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified if/when a space becomes available. Students transferring from the waitlist will be charged a prorated fee based on the amount of remaining classes in the session. Please note that class space is limited. Class times are subject to change. In the event of unsafe weather conditions, classes may be cancelled. Please note that flotation devices (lifejackets, water wings, etc.) are not permitted.

LEARN TO SWIM REGISTRATION PARENTS! SUMMER 2020 CHANGES COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS One parent will be required in water for each lesson of all Preschool Level classes, Youth Levels 1-2, and depending on the ability of the student, some Private swim lessons. Instructors will be present on deck instructing students and parents in skills, while parents will be facilitating the skills 1-on-1 with their child. Parents and children will have approximately 6 - 8 feet in between other participants. Levels 1 - 5 will be held in the Main Pool. Participants must come to facility in swim attire, prepared to swim. Changing will not be permitted before or after the lessons anywhere in the facility. Incoming lessons will wait in a staging area delineated by cones and signage.
SWIM EVALUATIONS If you are unsure what class level to enroll your child in, you may bring your child in for a brief evaluation by Lifeguard Instructors. Please note that individuals may have to wait for a Lifeguard Instructor to become available during these times and wait times may be present. Please call the Verdugo Aquatic Facility at 818-238-5391 for available times to conduct an evaluation.
LEARN TO SWIM REFUNDS UPDATED! • $10 refund processing fee will be assessed for each transaction. • Notification of withdrawal must be given to the Aquatics Registration Staff a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the scheduled session start date. • Notification given less than five (5) business days prior to the session start date will result in a 50% refund for each class session. • NO refunds will be given after the first date of the session. • All refunds must be requested in person at the Aquatics Registration desk. Refund transactions will not be processed over the phone or by email. • All refunds must be requested by the responsible party listed on the account. • A valid receipt must be shown in order to be eligible for a refund. • In the event that a session is cancelled by the Parks & Recreation Department, a full refund will be issued. • Make-up classes will not be offered unless cancelled by the department. • Medical exemption: In the event that a medical emergency results in a withdrawal, a full refund will be given with valid documentation from an attending physician. Refunds for medical exemptions will be prorated based on the amount of classes attended. Refunds for medical exemptions must be requested within two (2) weeks of the last day of the session.

Objective: Water Adjustment The Parent & Child Level A class is designed to get young children introduced to an aquatic environment by emphasizing a fun experience in the water. In addition to introductory skills to improve comfort in the water and swimming readiness, safety skills and cues will also be covered. All children must have one-on-one adult supervision at all times. Swim diapers must be worn by children. Note: classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances will be made up on a Friday. Parent & Child Level B Prerequisite: None Maximum Class Size: 4 students Objective: Water Adjustment With adult supervision and aid, this class will teach children introductory swim and water safety skills similar to our Level 1 course. For children who have had limited exposure to aquatic environments, this class will work on improving skills and comfort in the water. The class is also designed for children who are not quite tall enough for Level 1 but have the ability to learn the same skills. The goal of the class is for the child to learn basic independent swim skills, such as floating, gliding, and combined arm and leg movement with forward progression with support. This class requires oneon-one adult supervision at all times. Swim diapers must be worn by children who are not toilet trained. Note: classes cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances will be made up on a Friday. PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Instructor: Breakthrough Sports Prerequisite: None Objective: Progress is based on individual needs and abilities. Private lessons are geared for those that need one-to-one interaction with the instructor or those who are looking to work on specific skills outside of a group setting. The objective of this class is to help students feel comfortable in the water, enjoy the water safely, and work towards swimming mastery. Instructors will cater the class material to each individual. 1:1 (Private) Lessons are available. Each lesson is 30 minutes long and occurs twice per week for 2 weeks (1 Session). Total of 4 classes per session. All lessons are tailored to the individuals. YOUTH AQUATICS SPORTS PROGRAMS Youth Swim Team (Max 40) (formerly Conditioning)
Prerequisite: The ability to swim 100 yards continuous freestyle using appropriate turns, 100 yards continuous backstroke using appropriate turns, 25 yards breaststroke, and 25 yards butterfly. Proof of a swim evaluation required prior to the start of the class. The Youth Swim Team is for young athletes who are interested in competing at the recreational level or who are looking for a more advanced workout. Practices are geared towards race preparation, and advanced strength & conditioning. Swimmers may have option to participate in competitions based on availability. Participants may not hold a USA Swimming card within the past 12 months. The first day of practice will be reserved for a formal evaluation and parent meeting.
