IN THE SPOTLIGHT Lead The Way Internship Graduation

BURBANK VOLUNTEER

the

On November 9th, 2016 four driven and inspiring individuals graduated from the Lead the Way volunteer internship program. The pilot program began July of 2016 and was overseen by the Burbank Volunteer Program staff. It is designed to provide training to individuals grades 11 through college on professional development skills including: communication, phone etiquette and customer service while building confidence, experience, and knowledge in a team environment. After a competitive application and interview process, the interns dedicated themselves to attending facilitated training sessions twice a week for 5 weeks throughout the summer. Once they completed the training portion, the interns were placed at various recreation sites within the City of Burbank’s Parks and Recreation Department. This program gave students the opportunity to learn and grow as individuals in the work place while also providing quality assistance and enhancing the programs and services run by the Burbank Parks and Recreation Department. While balancing school, work, and this internship, the dedication of the interns is a true testament to their work ethic and drive to succeed. Congratulations Lead the Way Graduates of 2016!
