Creative Arts Center GALLERY HOURS Monday - Thursday...............................................9:00am - 9:00pm Friday...................................................................9:00am - 7:00pm Saturday...............................................................9:00am - 1:00pm Sunday.................................................................................Closed The Creative Arts Center features monthly exhibits showcasing a variety of artists. Artists’ receptions provide an opportunity to meet the artists. Each exhibit is approximately three weeks. Come and enjoy the fabulous shows the gallery has to offer. 1100 West Clark Avenue Burbank, CA 91506 I 818.238.5397
Gallery Shows August 4-24, 2017 Ani Gevorgian, Alisa Baregyan, Eerren Tsaturyan, & Lili Davoodian These artists found a common desire to show us their world through the eyes of feminine beauty, passion, vulnerability, justice and women’s rights. “Our lens for art making and exploration is that of an Armenian American female. We believe that it is important to include our positions as, both, insiders and outsiders, not just artists and academicians, but as Easterners and Westerners, traditionalists and modernists, and foreigners and locals, which gives us a broader sphere to a more critical and reflexive approach. Our art is a study to the extent of our “self” and a descriptive feature of our cultural experience.” Opening Reception is Friday, August 4, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
September 8-28, 2017 Jennifer Bentson: California Oaks As Art “California Oaks as Art”, is an artistic expression of the beauty of the oaks, and a historical, environmental catalog of their stories. Yet on a deeper level the oak tree of California, although one of the most common trees, it is also one that is very unique to its climate. This project teaches you about these California natives with interpretive plaques as well as art. We study Indians and early people of California, but not much is known about its early oaks and current oaks. Understanding the role oaks have played in history, in ecology, and their uniqueness is one of the goals of Jennifer Bentson’s art project. Opening Reception is Friday, September 8, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
October 6-26, 2017 Material Matters: A Ceramic Art Group Exhibition Come see an impressive lineup of Southern California artists exhibiting works highlighting an expansive range of visual possibilities for ceramic material. Melody Cooper creates highly-textured containers which incorporate doors and drawers with mixedmedia trinkets. Ceramic artist Stephen Horn creates figurative sculpture and playful vessels featuring printed images on clay, and vessels with folding layers of clay. Stanton Hunter is a multi-faceted artist who produces varied styles of ceramic work including vessels, and sculptural forms. Biliana Popova creates elegantly abstracted sculptures of feminine figures with curving shapes, soft lines and textures. Ray Yocum will be showing all new work of skillfully deconstructed vessels transformed into improvisationally reconstructed sculptural vessels. Opening Reception is Friday, October 6, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.
November 3-16, 2017 Burbank Art Association The Burbank Art Association is a nonprofit volunteer organization serving artists and the community since 1950. Members consist of artists at all stages from beginner to professional level. Although the majority of the members are painters of all types, a variety of visual art mediums and styles are represented.
