GALLERY HOURS Monday - Thursday...............................................9:00am - 9:00pm Friday...................................................................9:00am - 7:00pm Saturday...............................................................9:00am - 1:00pm Sunday.................................................................................Closed

Glendale Art Association

UPCOMING GALLERY SHOWS The Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center features monthly exhibits showcasing a variety of artists. Artists’ receptions provide an opportunity to meet the artists. Each exhibit is approximately three weeks. Come and enjoy the fabulous shows the gallery has to offer.

May 4 - 24, 2018 Glendale Art Association I Opening Reception: May 4, 7– 9pm

Women Painters West

The Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center welcomes The Glendale Art Association, since its inception in 1922, its many dedicated members have striven year-after-year to provide opportunities for fellowship among those who are creators and appreciators of art and to encourage and advance self-expression through visual arts for the benefit of its members and the community.

June 8 - 28, 2018 Women Painters West I Opening Reception: June 8, 7– 9pm The exhibit will showcase the diversity of the Women Painters West organization with paintings, drawings and collages from work based on the subject of “Hot & Cold”. Whether the subject is a person, place, or thing, it is reflected in genres ranging from portraiture and landscape, to still life, and in styles ranging from representational to abstract.

July 6 - 26, 2018 Lynda Reyes I Opening Reception: July 6, 7– 9pm

Lynda Reyes

Artists pour their heart, soul and life into their artworks. For Filipino-American painter Lynda A. Reyes, art became one of the biggest things to fuel her life. Portraying life in a swathe of colors and harmonies of hues, Lynda’s artworks (aside from her husband Albert, and sons Roy and Allen) give her a strong reason to live. For someone who has battled cancer, her “addiction” to the arts turned into a blessing. “I want to create 2-dimensional works that will trigger a lasting smile, a lasting longing to look, and a lasting visual imagery that will encourage some positive view of our wonderful world and of the people living in it. I do not aspire to be the solitary eccentric, genius artist removed from the community. I want to actively interact with the community and for my paintings to relate to the society I am in.

YOUTH SPORTS YOUTH SPORTS

The Youth Sports Program provides various instructional camps, sports leagues, and special programs throughout the year. Recreational competition is provided for both boys and girls. Teams are coached by volunteers who share their time and talent. The City of Burbank is a member of the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) which advocates positive safe sports and activities for children.

YOUTH TEAM REGISTRATION Youth sports league registration is accepted on a “team basis.” Individual players’ names will be added to a Free Agent List. Players’ names are distributed to existing teams expressing an interest in adding new players or to new teams that are forming. For those players not contacted and placed on a team, their parents are required to attend a parent’s meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to recruit new coaches. Staff will make every attempt to recruit coaches for these players, however there is no guarantee of placement on a team. Individual players interested in playing these sports should contact the Sports Office. League

ZERO WASTE GROOVE!

The Starlight Bowl and the Burbank Recycle Center’s award winning Zero Waste Program is back! Separate bins for recycling, composting, and trash surround the venue. Zero Waste Ambassadors are ready to answer your questions so you can perfectly sort your discards. Concessionaire, The Canyon Grille at DeBell, supports our waste reduction efforts too, by using compostable serving ware and condiment pump stations. These efforts are certainly paying off! The Starlight Bowl’s recycling rate has climbed from 20% in 2011 to 70% in 2017. Instead of going to the landfill, 70% of concert discards are being composted or recycled! Let’s all get in the zero waste groove and make 2018 the best year ever for recycling at the Bowl!

Here’s how you can help! Reduce Take only what you need. Refuse condiment packets, disposable cutlery, straws, etc. (These small plastics are hard to separate out of recycling and composting piles.) Reuse Pack your picnic with reusables and take home leftovers. Recycle Bottles & Cans They are the most common recyclables! Keep beverage containers out of plastic bags and put them in the right bin so they don’t go to the landfill. Compost Food scraps and soiled, uncoated paper items are not trash. They are compostable!

When you head to a zero waste station at the Starlight Bowl, keep all of your mixed recyclables, compostables, and trash LOOSE from each other. Don’t Wad - Don’t Bag - Don’t Tie Remember, Recycling and Trash Don’t Mix

Keep ‘Em Loose!
