Three – Week Summer Programme Sunday 12 June - Saturday 2 July 2011
K
ingham Hill offers an alternative to a traditional summer school. It is an experience that incorporates some of the better features of a summer school but in addition offers the opportunity to be part of a British boarding school during term time when the school is full of pupils and teachers. It offers pupils who may be seriously considering joining a British boarding school the chance to gain a clear understanding of what school life is really like. There are also obvious benefits for learning English, as the pupils will be studying, living and relaxing in a school where 85% of the pupils have English as their first language. Pupils are expected to have at least a basic level of English. The programme is led by Janet Critchley, Head of Kingham Hill’s ESOL Department. She and her team will host an action-packed three-week programme that will include the following: • Tailored intensive English lessons • Involvement in various other classes, depending upon interest • A programme of extra study (to coincide with scheduled preps) • Full involvement in school activities, including two Saturday activity trips • One additional cultural trip per week • Assessment entry tests and interview can be taken for those hoping to join the school at some future point • Concludes with Speech Day to which parents are very welcome Each pupil will be assigned a ‘buddy’ for their stay. Cost: £795 per week. The fee includes accommodation, food, basic uniform and all activities. The fee does not include airport transfers, although the school can arrange a taxi. In line with the school’s guardianship policy, Kingham Hill reserves the right to call upon the services of a guardianship agency if due to infectious illness the pupil needs to leave the school community.
