it's all about
the journey. B&R trips are like works of art. They tell a story. They have a carefully crafted beginning, middle and end—a narrative arc. Our mandate isn’t to merely “take you around” (ugh) but to move you...whether it’s through a glass of wine pulled straight from the barrel by the legendary vintner himself, light falling just so on a lavender field, or lodgings that feel less like “hotels” than eccentric, exquisite features of the land. After all, it’s not a real journey unless you’ve really journeyed. Don’t come back feeling satisfied. Come back feeling changed. Join us?
Hundreds of trips—one destination. After a lifetime spent globetrotting, we’ve learned firsthand that slowing down to see the world is more than a philosophy—it’s a feeling. It's the thrill of setting foot on new (and blissfully untrodden) ground; the warmth of the welcome offered by our local friends; and the feeling that you're not just seeing the world, you're savouring the very best of it. It doesn't matter how you go (by bike or foot, on a yacht or on a safari) or even how far (this year our trip collection boasts more than 56 countries), you'll know you've arrived when that feeling seeps into your soul. We've been revelling in this feeling for more than 50 years—and we'd love to show you where to find it. —George Butterfield and Norman Howe

In our world...
We don’t just taste a place—we savour it.
6 CULINARY IMMERSION | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
Culinary Immersion We find there's no better way to experience a culture than through its cuisine
—and we'll go to any length to find food prepared with passion. We went to Peru to find the best Nikkei (Japanese fusion). We scoured Siem Reap to discover delicious Cambodian curry. And we've uncovered what is undoubtedly Italy's best pasta— it's in the backyard of our friends the Lungarellas. Want a taste?

Hotels aren’t prosaic— they’re pure poetry.
8 ONE-OF-A-KIND HOTELS | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
One-of-a-kind Hotels Tired: staying in big hotels. Wired: staying in artful anti-hotels. Castles, riads,
monasteries: we source lodgings that aren’t just places to crash, but one-of-a-kind spots as intimate, authentic and sublime as the rest of your journey— replete with personal touches from our hotelier friends. Just don’t get weird when you have to bid your sanctuary goodbye…

Routes aren’t routine— they’re revelatory.
10 UNPARALLELED ROUTES | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
Unparalleled Routes We don't take the beaten path: we find the ones that aren’t yet beaten, then show
up a week before your trip, just to break them in. Our researchers love finding the most revealing routes —which explains why they work so incredibly hard. And just in case you're not a cartographic connoisseur, our European routes come with fully loaded tablets that make navigating a breeze.

Culture isn’t a nice thing—it’s everything.
12 CULTURAL IMMERSION | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
Cultural Immersion We believe true travel isn’t following straight lines from sight to sight. And it’s
especially not a bus trip disguised as a journey. On the contrary: our trips leverage our local friends, out-of-the-way locales, and incredibly dorky love of the region to reveal how it feels, not just what it has…with as much wind in your hair and wonder in your eyes as possible.

Guides don’t just show you the way— they show you the life.
14 SIGNATURE GUIDES | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
Signature Guides Travel guides come from a book store and tell you what to see. B&R guides
come from all walks of life— think botanists, architects and sommeliers—and inject every experience with wit, wisdom, and spontaneity. (They also bring along: bike mech credentials, mindreading abilities, language fluency, great taste in bike shorts, and enough general giftedness that you’ll wish you could hate them.)

What's Included Some outfits only think in terms of “what's included.” We prefer to think in terms of what's possible. Our trips aren't defined by checklists, fine print, and “meeting expectations.” Instead, we focus entirely on exceeding them. How can we take an already personal experience, and make it more intimate? How can we stun, startle and introduce a bit (or maybe a lot?) of spontaneity? How can we make sure you leave not just feeling satisfied, but elevated? For us, it's more of an art than a science—but it does consist of a few essential elements.
16 WHAT’S INCLUDED | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
Small Groups
We keep our groups small and agile because it gives you incredible opportunities.
Unique hotels
Many of the most incredible hotels are one-of-a-kind boutique properties with just a handful of suites, and our smaller group sizes let us take full advantage—we're often the only ones there.
Special special events
With a small group, we can dine in the home of a local friend. Or sneak into an ancient ruin at night. Or savour a tasting in the tiny cave of an artisanal vintner. Or learn how to make chocolate at the chocolatier...
Lasting friendships
We believe everyone should have the chance to build real friendships that can last a lifetime. Travelling with a group so big you can’t even remember people’s names? Definitely not our style.
Intimate restaurants
Big, bustling restaurants that pump out meals can handle 30 people at once, but a group that big would wipe out our secret back-alley haunts. Small, intimate restaurants are our bread and butter.
FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM | WHAT’S INCLUDED 17
Unparalleled Service
We make your life easier—every way we can—every step of the way.
Your guides, consummate hosts
Nature or nurture? At B&R, we believe in both. We hire guides who are preternaturally programmed to take care of people in a thoughtful way. Then we train them up to our standard. Good service? It’s an art.
The perfect amount of support
Our guide-to-traveller ratio and van support are always exactly right. Others tout using many vans per trip—but that’s because they have such large groups and transfer their own luggage. We keep things intimate.
18 WHAT’S INCLUDED | FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM
An ops team that’s on-call 24/7
On every trip, we have B&R-trained local hosts and deep local connections. Should anything untoward ever happen, our team will be right there at your side. Need strings pulled? We’ve already pulled them.
Quality assurance: we set the bar
We may have the highest “customer satisfaction rate” in the business, but even we don’t bat a thousand. If something goes awry on your trip and it’s our bad, we will make it right. Guaranteed. Full stop.
Inimitable Style
It starts with our founders George and Martha, then it emanates to everyone at B&R.
Peerless routes
Our researchers find routes that are nothing short of spectacular. (We are self-admitted perfectionists.) Our route notes give easy-to-follow directions, and in Europe, we provide tablets loaded with digital routes.
A pre-trip scouting mission
Only we would ever think to do this: a week before your trip, your guides scout the entire route, meeting with all the key players. Your food allergies? Our chefs are already planning something special, just for you.
A culture of creativity
There’s nothing more important to us than nurturing a deep culture of creativity. Every B&R trip must be an imaginative, surprising opus. That’s why everyone we hire at B&R has a creative bent. It’s a prerequisite.
Please, put your wallet away
We want you to have the time of your life and not fuss about little things like cheques. We pay for everything it makes sense to pay for. Wine? Of course. Your shopping spree at Hermès? Umm, no.

2019 Trip Collection Having a field day, Tuscany
Italy The secret to Italy? Communing with Italians (some of whom work in our Tuscan office). That’s why we don’t just find the best pasta on Yelp—we find out when our local friends are free, then invite you to a feast on their estate. (Grazie, Lungarellas!) We don’t merely visit the Statue of David—we host a private dinner party at the Accademia. And we don’t just “see” Italy— we plunge you directly into la dolce vita. Fellini wishes he could do Italy like us.

AMALFI COAST WALKING
Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Avid Signature Hotels – From $8,795 "A dream place" — that's how Steinbeck described Amalfi. And when you take in the Path of the Gods, the hotels (we stay at Le Sirenuse, just like he did), the food and the limoncello, you'll understand why. Dream place? More like fantasy land— but who are we to correct a Nobel laureate?
DOLOMITES SELF-GUIDED WALKING
Private Trip | 5 Nights | Avid Signature Hotels – From $3,995 There is breathtaking beauty and rustic charm around every corner. At the 5-star Rosa Alpina, your mountain spa awaits. Hike to the highest peak, spend the day indulging in culture, or savour the cuisine—here, you can’t make a wrong turn.
DOLOMITES WALKING NEW!
Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Avid Signature Hotels – From $5,495 Explore the gorgeous (and little known) Alpe di Siusi. Your taste buds will never, ever forget our 3 Michelin star dinner at Hubertus, the perfect reward after an invigorating (and jaw-dropping) alpine hike.
CAPRI TO POSITANO SELF-GUIDED WALKING Private Trip | 6 Nights | Avid | Signature Hotels – From $5,995
Here, sweeping mountain vistas and the spectacularly placed Il San Pietro (your Relais & Châteaux away from home) conspire to make the sirens sing. Go at your own pace—with local guides at your beck and call—as you traverse the glittering coast (on foot and by private boat), and take in Amalfi’s idyllic mix of luxury and rustic charm.

ITALIAN LAKES WALKING
Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Enthusiast Signature Hotels - From $6,795 Let the Clooney fans flock to Como. We're the only ones who pop over to the stunning Swiss side, wandering charming Lugano and Ticino, and taking not one, not two, but three separate boat cruises to soak in the incredible views from the water.
PIEMONTE BIKING
Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Enthusiast Signature Hotels – From $5,295 Nowhere does slowing down feel more apropos than Piemonte, the birthplace of Slow Food, where epicurean delights await around every corner and verdant vineyards abound. We pair our meals with many of the best vintages (on us, natch), then kick back at the intimate and gorgeous La Villa.
In our world Like trifola d’Alba Madonna (white truffles), we believe the best Italian experiences can’t be found on the surface. We dig deeper: private boat rides with insiders; Bellinis with raconteurs who bring history to life; lunch in a secret hut on the Path of the Gods...

Trip Designer | Christina Cain We’d forgive you for rolling your eyes when someone says they love Italian wine (who doesn’t!?), but when Christina says it, we take notes. In addition to being an internationally certified sommelier, she’s a B&R all star, who’s guided, planned or otherwise masterminded more than 70 trips across Italy. Spain & Portugal We’ve been basking in the beauty and splendour of Europe’s sunsoaked southwest corner for decades, and we’ve learned how to seize every moment of it: gaping at the stunning Costa Brava, sipping Rioja’s world-class vintages, communing with the Camino de Santiago, marvelling at the cascading hills of the Douro Valley. In the evening, gently nurse a glass of port in the perfect orange light and kick yourself for not coming along with us sooner.

CAMINO DE SANTIAGO BIKING
Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Enthusiast Bistro Hotels – From $3,995 Traditionally, the Camino de Santiago is about soul searching, but we’re more interested in soul-stirring. It starts with riding while others walk, to feel serenity in the saddle. It continues in the farm-fresh meals we enjoy en route, and the passion of the people who prepare them. And it culminates at the resplendent Reis Católicos, a stone’s throw from the cathedral.
COSTA BRAVA BIKING
Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Recreational Signature Hotels – From $5,295 Soak up the warmth of the Med in a region we adore. Ride rolling volcanic hills dwarfed by the Pyrenees and explore villages stamped by time. Take sips and dips on B&R’s sailboat while cruising the Costa Brava, feast on farm-to-fork cuisine in Figueres, and let Spain’s best Dalí guide pour drinks before an intimate art tour. Melt like a clock for this sensuous region.
COSTA BRAVA SELF-GUIDED BIKING
Private Trip | 5 Nights | Enthusiast Signature Hotels – From $3,995 The Costa Brava is a bit of a misnomer. You don’t need bravery to ride among the Medieval Villages of the Empordà’s rugged coast—just a thirst for adventure and some expertly plotted routes (you bring the former, we’ll supply the latter). And the local auberges, lavish hotels, and intimate boutique properties don’t require courage—just a reservation (which we’ve already nabbed for you).
BASQUE COUNTRY WALKING Scheduled Trip | 5 Nights | Avid | Signature Hotels – From $5,995
Straddling the border between France and Spain, Basque Country is an experience unto itself. From beautiful Biarritz on the French side, we take in breathtaking views of the Pyrenees. Later, swap mountains for oceans on the idyllic Spanish Basque coast, then finish in San Sebastián, where pintxos lovers will have fits of gastronomic delight. Trip Designer | Christine Tucker Christine Tucker was the perfect person to design our Basque Country Walking trip, not just because she’s fluent in both French and Spanish (although that certainly helps in the stunning, centuries-old region that straddles the two countries), but because her adoration for adventure knows no bounds. How do we know? Because she once guided an unforgettable trip through Spain... while six months pregnant!

The perfect square to circle, Prague
Central Europe Our first trip traversed the fairy tale foothills of Bavaria back in 1966, and we’ve been exploring, befriending, indulging (and occasionally, imbibing) our way across central Europe ever since. As you cross sunbaked dunes and ascend towards the High Atlas Mountains, a strange sensation comes over you: Morocco seeps into your soul. From souk to kasbah to Berber village to mountain pass, this is one authentic experience after another, culminating with a warm welcome from our friend Mohamed Bouskri, owner of the renowned Riad Kniza.
MOROCCO WALKING

And put your feet up at exquisite hotels—just in case the heart of Morocco is hiding out by the pool.
To the uninitiated, Morocco’s bustling souks, sprawling mountain ranges and shimmering deserts can feel like a fantasy land—which is why we gave it to one of our best dream weavers. Orsolya’s adventures don’t just drop you into far flung corners. Instead, she specializes in crafting journeys that make exotic and extraordinary destinations feel comfortable, intimate, luxurious, and above all, known.

Safari
Our Experts:
In Swahili, safari means “journey.” In our world, it means an unforgettable adventure.
We’ve long believed in slowing down to see the world, but that doesn’t mean sitting in a Land Rover with a pair of binoculars. Our safari trips are immersive, active and wildly intimate adventures that put you in deep and on the ground—literally, in most cases—in some of the most geographically stunning and zoologically diverse landscapes in the world. Stay in some of Africa’s most breathtaking luxury lodges; meet, connect and break bread with our deep network of local friends; and discover the joys of unbridled Africa.
Christine Tucker
Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda
“Going on safari in Tanzania means coming face to face with the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, Lake Natron—places that remind you of this planet’s vastness and intricateness. Today, it’s not that hard to travel to these venues, but to enable travellers to truly experience and understand them? That’s what B&R does best.”
Michele Harvey
Zambia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar
“I make it my mission to select partners whose safari activities benefit the community as much as the traveller—human and otherwise. Fortunately, the most responsible partners are also the most passionate. In true B&R fashion, we pair that passion with our thirst for adventure to craft experiences you cannot find anywhere else.”
Brad Crockett
Director of Expedition trips

“With B&R, there’s never any sacrificing of safety or comfort—but that doesn’t mean we keep you on the outside looking in. We get in deep, whether it’s hanging with lions, canoeing down the Zambezi or gasping at the wildebeest migration.” Brad was named Safari Specialist by Departures magazine. (In other words, you’ve gotta travel with this guy).
Ways to Go BESPOK E Our Bespoke safaris are born beautifully out of your family’s bucket list. Camping on an otherworldly private island furnished just for you? Being used as a perch by meerkats? Family
Why settle for taking your family away—when we can take their breath away?
Whether you’re travelling with three kids or three generations, we don’t believe that a family vacation has to involve compromising on the things that turn a trip into an unforgettable adventure: deep cultural immersion, over-the-top hotels, perfectly planned days, activities for all ages, sumptuous meals, delectable wines and, most of all, a phenomenal amount of fun. After more than 50 years spent honing the formula for rambling with your clan, we don’t really do “family travel” anymore—we do family transcendence.

Our Trip Designers We think of our trip designers as architects, because to meet B&R's standards, a journey must be a blissful marriage of science and art. The science is logistics— how to make a trip really work, so you aren't tired, hungry, or bored for even a second. The art is making it as revelatory and resplendent as a Venetian basilica ceiling: both a perfect expression of the region, and a perfect work of living poetry. In other words, the sort of experience that leaves you gobsmacked. Here are our gifted “architects”:

AGUSTIN CALVETTI 50% anthropologist. 50% hôtelier. But also: restaurateur, trekking guide and polyglot. Oh, and blues guitarist. ALESSIO FRANGIONI Gifted carpenter. Restores aged homes. Don’t need any cornices fixed? He’s also a trained veterinarian. (Handy when the camel breaks down.) ALEX GEISSWEN Grew up in the Tyrolean Alps, but now calls Japan home. Photographer, skier, cyclocross racer. ALEX GRAEFE Berliner who loves all things Tuscan. Huge hearted. Known to drive stray dogs back to their owners. ALICE VAN DER VOORT Can jabber away in six international tongues as though possessed. Works with schoolchildren in Laos. Dances on tables in Italy. ALVARO DIEZ Our super-athletic Spaniard. Member of his university triathlon team. Has run more marathons than anyone can remember. AMANDA GARY Now based in Buenos Aires, this multi-talented native of Malibu, California has guided many trips in Europe and South America. AMINA ABDELJAWAD Sixlanguage-speaking Swedish adventure-seeker. Loves to get down. Not just to the depths of Lake Malawi (she’s a seasoned diver), but on the dance floors of Andalucia, too. ANGELO SCIMIA Has been spotted in Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, London and his native northern Italy. An Oenophile with an extraordinary palate. ANTHONY KING Marathon runner. Free-diver. Forest trekker. Around-the-world cyclist. And now a paramedic (more reason to keep him around!). ANTHONY WEERSING An American living in Toronto, where he is our resident Japanese cultural expert. CATHERINE KNIGHT There’s no such thing as the off season for this high-octane American who mountain bikes, runs, hikes, kayaks, swims, skates, and snowboards her way around the world. Now based in Spain. CHRISTINA NICK Rehabilitating cheetahs in northern Namibia. Or showcasing her world-renowned sculpture at an art show in Hungary. Or... CHRISTOPHER LITT Stir-crazy cyclist. Has ridden clear across Canada. Conquered roads in France and Switzerland. Former pedicab driver.
TABITA
RICCARDO & LAURA
(Don’t tell him we told you.) DALE SHERROW Can just as easily talk about corporate finance as he can Volnay Premier Cru. But his true passion is learning the intricacies of people, culture, and local cuisine. DAMIEN BUREL Has finally given in to his passion: wine. Winemaking has taken him to New Zealand and Burgundy, where he is now based. (Psst: let him choose the wine.) DANA QUINN A high-octane consultant in her former life. Many B&R trips later, she’s savouring the slightly slower life in southern France. DANE TREDWAY Wandered from Cape Town to Kathmandu. Returned to Toronto for a life of writing and photography. (Also: spelunking, skiing, scuba diving, trekking.) DANIEL BOWER Biked, snowboarded, scuba dived, mountaineered, bunjee-jumped and Frisbee-competed across six continents. DAVID FACCHINI Italian-born David has worked on humanitarian projects across the globe. When he’s not changing the world, he’s changing gears on a bike. A true buona forchetta! DEBBIE VANVAERENBURGH Recently finished a one-year trip through Moscow, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia. Her fave part? Teaching English to monks in Laos. DENIS LUCCANTONI Former Olympian. Still has that golden glow. Spends the winters speed skating, teaching skiing in the French Alps, and being impossibly down-to-earth. DIEGO GRAU Hails from a small Castilian town. Left a career in biology to join B&R. Says gushy, poetic things like “I found the pure happiness that the path brings you.” EDOARDO BAUSANI Can converse in no less than five languages. Chiantiborn, now based in Germany. EDOARDO BOTELLIO Hailing from Milan but now based in Denmark, Edoardo is a biker and backcountry hiker extraordinaire (or should we say ekstraordinær). He is exceptionally fast on his feet. No surprise there: he played professional soccer. ERNESTO FUCCI Has a Master’s in diplomatic relations (it shows). Used to work for the Italian Cultural Institute. Now you can find him immersing B&R travellers in culture all over Europe. FOR DETAILED ITINERARIES, VISIT BUTTERFIELD.COM | OUR GUIDES 89

FLORIAN MARBACH A former professional swimmer, Florian can also add expert surfer and rock climber to his CV. GERARDO AMORTEGUI An engineer with an MA in remote sensing (which might be why he’s so good at finding gems off the beaten path). GIACOMO FANO Italian native. Has never spent a single day in an office. Can scale a cliff, but don’t bother asking him to scan a document. GIORGIA PECORARO In her teenage years, Giorgia travelled the world via a competitive rowing career. Now she has a PhD in Anthropology and resides right where she started: Sicily. Lucky us. GLYN MANWARINGJONES Got the travel bug’s bite as a kid, canoeing in Northern Ontario. (On second thought, it may have been a mosquito.) Has lived in Montreal and Brazil, now brandishes a music degree instead of bug repellent. IRENA OSSOLA Hails from Northern Italy and Santa Fe. Road-hungry pro cyclist. Makes Batman look boring. JACOPO DI LORENZO Has hit up Kenyan missions, Australian horse farms and Thai beaches. Rome-born adventurer. Doesn’t crash a party—paraglides into it. JAMES BOYD Fearless climber. JEFF VOLK He has biked all over the world, quite literally, and has seven languages to show for it. Wolof, anyone? JOÃO CARVALHO He has hiked the Himalayas, climbed the Alps, worked in Africa, taught in Vietnam… and even found time to complete a Master's. JOHN BROOKS Born in Boston. Lives in France. NANCY
Montreal, Katja is an avid cyclist who can’t imagine life without biking every day. When she is not guiding, she is a graphic designer. KATRIN PUETZ Katrin has been a cabinet-maker in Germany, a cheese-maker in the Swiss Alps, and a bull-catcher in the Australian outback. Now she’s working on a PhD. KIM HESSION Favourite hobbies: backcountry skiing, lobster fishing, river canoeing, tree-planting and crossword-solving. Exhausting just watching her. LAURA MANZANO OUTEIRAL When she’s not guiding, Laura lectures for the National Museums Network in Paris (in four languages). When she’s not lecturing, she’s in China, or Ethiopia, or, well, you get the idea. LEAH HOWE Many years with B&R. Likes duvets silky soft, burrata homemade (in her home, that is) and Barolo right out of the barrel. LEWIS EVANS Can order coffee in five European languages. Is often served a crusty cheese sandwich, but is terrific at pretending that’s what he wanted. LISA LILJEBERG Maestro, interpreter, psychologist, bike mechanic... she does it all. LORENZO SANTAMARIA Born in Sicily. Based in Copenhagen. A bit of a nomad. But has a Sicilian’s love of family... (that includes fellow travellers). LUCA INNOCENTI Anyone who can hitchhike from Vietnam all the way to Italy can guide for B&R. LUCA PACCHIONI Was loaded into a camper van for a whirlwind Portugal trip at the age of eight. Now an Italian wanderer and aspiring Madrid architect. MARCELA CALDAS Colombia native. Architect. Designer. Lives in Paris, Barcelona and Rome. Rides horses in La Costa Brava. MARCOS GRELLET Has spent the past 18 years as both a marine biologist and continenthopping travel writer. Or as we describe it: cuddling dolphins and wordsmithing. MARELLA IODIO Italian-born, London-educated, Hong Kong-based. With an M.A. in Diplomacy. Really. MARGOT CREPIN Dividing her time between France and Colombia, Margot is an avid biker, hiker and marathoner (in four languages). MARIADELE GATTI Blink and you’ll miss this Italian globetrotter. in medical interpretation (among other languages). MARIO KOCH Was a journalist in Jakarta before returning to Berlin to work as a film producer… and a sous-chef. Sprechen sie eclectic? MARJOLEIN ROELEVELD Amsterdam-born. Sports degrees in theatre and mime. Refuses to pretend she’s trapped in a box. But after a few pints of Columbus ale... MARKO MITIC Has been on the slow road for years, whether riding across continents or sailing around the Med. Added four languages along the way. MATT TRICKS Has worn many hats in his career, from teacher to investment banker. Now a veterinary surgeon. His favourite hat? B&R. NANCY TOWNS Lovable Spanish-speaking Hispanophile. Claims in a convincing tone that she loves biking Albanian mountain roads. In the winter. OSCAR BIEDMA The kind of athlete who pedals out of a Vancouver driveway one morning and ends up in Mexico. RAFA PRIETO MARTIN Born in Spain. First word was aventura. (Now speaks seven languages.) REMI LAHAUSSOIS Sculptor. Winemaker. Homebuilder. Musician. Triathlete. We could go on. RICCARDO PASQUIN Born in a Venetian village. Wandered through Ireland, Bolivia and Portugal. Party trick: getting teary-eyed about il bel paese (the beautiful country). ROBERTO ALIPRANDI Roberto, former restaurateur, is your typical B&R polyglot: he speaks Italian, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German. ROSS MCLEAN Born to a family of musicians (and a fabulous one himself), Ross is no stranger to globetrotting. He is a trained wine connoisseur now based in Kyoto. RUPERT WILSON-YOUNG Fell in love with the wild at an early age, hiking, biking and camping his way across the Great White North. SAKIS MITSOULIS Master’s in fine art. Happily steeped in the finer things in life (probably how he ended up a luxe boating expert). Feels equally at home guiding in Bali, Japan, Utah and Croatia. SARAH LEWIS Master’s from LSE. Fluent in five languages. Has visited more countries than a diplomat. SCOTT MCEWEN
Ditched television to pursue cinema and guide with B&R. Now based at our HQ in Toronto. SEBASTIAN LALMAND Has designed and guided trips all over Spain, and biked from Brussels to Cairo. (Trust us, you’re in capable hands.) SIGRID LELIEVRE Sigrid’s background in film gives her a serious edge on finding the most scenic spots for a picnic. SJOERD VINK Born in southern Holland. Grew up on a bike. Has a degree from the Royal Academy of Art (which might explain the gorgeous photos he takes for us). SONIA TER HOVANESSIAN Our favourite Franco-Armenian jazz singer. Now calls Bologna home. STEFANO LOPEZ A native of Florence, he has travelled extensively in Europe, though his most recent adventure involved grizzly bears in the Yukon. STEPHANE LECLERC A French-Canadian graphic designer with a penchant for adventure. STEPHANIE GULLEDGE Has journeyed through Europe, South America and Asia on two wheels. Now our trip designer in Colombia and Chile. TABITA MIOTTO When this Italian is not guiding, she’s either shaving off strokes from her golf game or tackling new hills on her bike. TATIANA BUISSON South African-born, now living in France. When she's not guiding, she's putting her incredible graphic design and illustration skills to use. THILO ERHARDT Throw him in the sea? He becomes an expert diver. Send him to the European Space Agency? He walks out with a job. A German Parisian everything. THOMAS FRIESE Has guided B&R travellers through Italy and central Europe for a decade. Has no plans of stopping. Not that we’d ever let him. TIBOR BARNA Gallivants around the world on two wheels. Did a 5,000 km bike trip through Southeast Asia. Should proooobably be the subject of a documentary. TIM SCHELLENBERGER Our favourite Brazil-based intellectual recently earned his Master’s. Happily shuts off his brain every few days to dive, drum and DJ. ZOE SMALE B&R is in her DNA. Seriously. (Her parents were guides.) Now calls Beaune home.
