The foundation has been strengthened In 2015, Blue Water continued investing in strengthening the company’s foundation to match future needs and ambitions

Again in 2015, Blue Water made a number of significant investments which, in the short as well as in the long term, will improve the company’s position in the global transport and logistics market. Some investments have already contributed to increasing the contribution margin whereas others are long-term investments contributing towards an expected slightly lower bottom line compared to 2014. The low oil price is also a contributing factor to the declining earnings as our Oil & Gas and Wind divisions in particular experience cancellations and postponements of projects.

Investing in promoting efficiency Other divisions have seen a strong positive development in 2015. Recent years’ significant growth in our General Cargo division within and around the Danish market continues. In this respect, it is our ambition to strengthen our position in Norway, Sweden and Finland in particular. In 2015, we have among other things invested in the acquisition of Partner Solution in Norway, and in Denmark we have launched the construction of a new large warehouse and logistics terminal in Taulov to improve the service and efficiency towards the clients in and around Denmark. These big investments will have a negative effect on the bottom line for 2015 and 2016.

We shall work hard In 2016, we will focus on earnings improvement and we still expect keen competition on the global transport and logistics market. The low oil price will also in 2016 put a damper on the level of activity in the Oil & Gas industry. We will have to work hard and determinedly to maintain our existing clients as well as to win new clients and projects. This goes for all our business areas. Our wide experience in operating in changeable markets and industries, combined with our strong competences and understanding of the clients’ needs, will be of vital importance for maintaining our position in the years to come.

Thank you Blue Water’s employees have also this year performed strongly and determinedly to provide the best and most professional service in the business. On behalf of the entire Management, I would like to thank everybody for their daily efforts in making Blue Water a fantastic workplace – and for making Blue Water the clients’ preferred partner. Best regards

Kim Hedegaard Sørensen CEO December 2015

CASE KVERNELAND

Project teams help raising the standard of service For the next three years, Blue Water will handle Kverneland Group’s road transports between Denmark and Kverneland’s business partner in the Czech Republic The preparatory work is vital for a successful cooperation. “We make a great effort to give our clients a smooth transition when they change their supplier. In this case we have analysed Kverneland’s needs through various meetings in order to minimise the risks during handling of the transports. This creates the best foundation for the cooperation”, says Claus Chr. Andersen who is responsible for the contract and General Manager of Blue Water Odense. For major contracts, Blue Water always attach an implementation team. A Project

Manager is appointed for each team who, together with the client, will convert the basic contract to an operational document. “Kverneland Group has via this strategic cooperation with Blue Water achieved the common thread in our general transport set-up. Kverneland are pleased with Blue Water’s professional approach to

the implementation process. Focusing on dialogue and client service ensures that our clients experience a better service in several areas such as ETA, communication and transparency”, says Henrik Dalsgaard Hansen, Supply Chain Director for Kverneland Group.

GENERAL CARGO

Successful exhibition

Strong focus on growth market

Nearly 14,000 visitors make Danfish International the largest exhibition held in Aalborg. Blue Water participated, not only as exhibition forwarder for 325 exhibitors, but were also represented with our own stand. Overall, the exhibitors were satisfied and brought home a lot of new orders. The Blue Water stand was well-attended by clients from both Denmark, the North Atlantic and Canada. Many of Blue Water’s employees are working with the fishing industry and as Danfish is the largest fisheries exhibition in Denmark, it is important for us to be there to meet the clients and create valuable contacts. “The exhibition went well and both the exhibitors and the organiser were satisfied”, says Ole Bøgh Ulriksen from Blue Water Aalborg.

Transporting medicine is a growth market, which Blue Water will increase its focus on in the future. The sensitive medical products must often be transported by special equipment requiring special education of both drivers, freight forwarders and subsuppliers. All transports shall comply with EU’s code of practice regarding pharmaceutical products. “It takes a strong and competent organisation to live up to the clients’ expectations and the additional demands”, says Lars Tue Toftild, General Manager of Blue Water Copenhagen. Blue Water delivers medical products from Denmark to the rest of the world. Due to increasing focus on streamlining the transport chain, reducing costs and environmental impact, cross trade is also offered through our comprehensive network.

Hygiene kits for Syria The Aid & Relief teams from Blue Water in Spain and Denmark have been working together to support two international aid organisations and their suppliers in bringing hygiene kits with tooth paste, toilet rolls and shampoo to rural Damascus, Syria. A total of 55 x 40´containers was delivered via Beirut in Lebanon where the cargo was loaded on local trucks for delivery to the relief organisations. Blue Water Barcelona worked hard to arrange the deliveries in Syria. In close cooperation with Johnny Mortensen from Billund, the containers were brought safely to the conflict zone.

The best solution Blue Water Aarhus and Oslo joined forces to ship five containers of fishing equipment from Busan in South Korea to Honningsvåg in the northern part of Norway. Upon arrival in Oslo, the contents of the containers were packed on trucks for the remaining part of the transport. Originally, the equipment was to be transported in containers all the way to Honningsvåg. However, this was not only a more expensive but also a more unreliable solution, as there are often shortage of space on the feeder vessels, which ultimately may end up increasing the costs due to demurrage. This was the reason why Blue Water coordinated a better alternative for the client, who appreciated the new solution very much.

Expanding partners for General Cargo Blue Water New York has met with new partners for General Cargo to expand on the coverage for their Import product. Two key areas of expansion are India and Pakistan. “Freightlinks International India’s Global Sales Manager P. Gurunathan came for a day of sales visits in New Jersey. We visited five clients and in all cases we have been given the opportunity to quote for their business”.

“The Managing Director Muhammed Saleem and Executive Director Athar Baig from Combined Freight International in Pakistan also visited us to discuss the growth and development of Pakistan. Combined will be able to give us very good qualified leads for a push-pull sales effort” says Kelly Delle Fave, VP of Business Development, who takes an optimistic view of the future development of our General Cargo activity in the US. Gyroplanes to Iceland

Relief aid to Nepal When Nepal was hit by two earthquakes in April and May, Niels Mikkelsen from Blue Water’s Aid & Relief team travelled to the country to deliver relief supplies to the people in need. Niels found a beautiful country with very friendly people who, despite the terrible circumstances, welcomed him and the other aid delegations with open arms.

Blue Water’s Niels Mikkelsen received a warm welcome. In spite of the sad situation, the people of Nepal were incredibly welcoming and friendly.

No. 111

“It was truly inspiring to meet the Nepali people. Almost everyone smiled, thanked us and made us feel welcome from the beginning although many of them had lost their homes. Situations like these confirm me in my choice of career path within Aid & Relief Logistics”, says Niels Mikkelsen.

On behalf of Mikkel Palmbo from AutoGyro Nordic ApS, Stenløse (Copenhagen) Blue Water Hirtshals arranged transport of three gyroplanes (lightweight aircrafts) to Iceland on board Smyril Line’s freight and passenger ferry “Nörröna”. Mkkel Palmbo, who was entrusted with the job of pilot and tour guide on an adventure “touring Iceland by gyroplane”, was flying one of the gyroplanes to Hirtshals from Copenhagen. The two other planes arrived from Germany. “Before arrival, we cleared Fjord Line’s approach area in Hirtshals so that the gyroplanes would be able to land close to our area at the terminal and taxi directly onboard the car deck. The cruise went according to plan and we have heard that the tour of Iceland was a giant success”, reports Jan Nørgaard, Manager Freight Forwarding in Hirtshals.

New Krone trailers

Blue Water has just concluded an agreement for delivery of 120 new logo trailers to our trailer fleet. Krone Fleet will deliver the ultramodern trailers at the end of the year - to most of our Danish branches as well as to Finland. The trailers are therefore delivered with equipment adapted to the individual markets and traffics. “As we sell transport solutions of high quality for a living, it is important that our equipment fits our clients’ needs and also lives up to the safety requirements of both the cargo and the specific countries. The safety requirements are in fact the reason why we change all our trailers at intervals of 48 months. By doing this, we ensure that new developments become standard equipment in our existing fleet”, says Carsten Steffensen, Director in Blue Water. All trailers are delivered with GPRS surveillance equipment so that they can be traced and supply data home to the traffics on a continuous basis.

WIND LOGISTICS

Preparing for wind projects in France

Wind turbines to Wales

Marianne Girardin and Jacob Kjærgaard (the latter is seen as no. two from the right) represented Blue Water at the conference.

Blue Water France was invited to participate in a panel discussion at the MRE (Marine Renewable Energy) conference in Le Havre. The topic of discussion was: Are the port and logistics operators ready for the future? It was the first time that the conference was held and the event attracted many players of the industry in France. So far the French authorities have planned three wind farms to be constructed close to Le Havre making it a close-to-the-action choice for industry experts to meet and share their thoughts and ideas. Blue Water has been represented in France since 1985 and operates from Marseille, Brest, St. Nazaire and Nantes.

The Pen Y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project is an onshore wind park in Wales consisting of 76 turbines. Blue Water won the transport of all turbines and components in June, and in October, the first of 14 chartered vessels were loaded. “All turbines and components are delivered from Denmark and the wind

towers are delivered from China, where we handle all loading operations in close cooperation with our colleagues from Shanghai and Singapore. It is a big task with coordination of a lot of shipments. Luckily, we have a good cooperation which also includes our office in Manchester”, says Christian Heyk Petersen, responsible

FL: Hans Christian Mikkelsen, Brian Sørensen and Jacob Larsen/all from Blue Water, Beth Weber and Bill Wenger/both from Kokosing Industrial.

Discussing offshore wind Blue Water was invited to participate in a panel discussion, a pre-event to the AWEA conference and exhibition (American Wind Energy Association), and we also participated at AWEA in September. Both the preevent, arranged by the Business Network for Offshore Wind, and the AWEA event were hosted in Baltimore. Blue Water was invited due to our many years of experience in offshore wind, in particular in Europe. “This was a good chance for us to talk to other players within the industry and discuss optimisation in the logistical chain. It was very exciting to hear different views on the future possibilities”, says Jacob Kjærgaard, the Head of Global Business Development in Blue Water’s Wind division. The US will soon have its first offshore wind farm installed - the Block Island project where also BWS is involved.

Great activity in Hvide Sande Since the expansion in 2013, the port of Hvide Sande (on the Danish west coast north of Esbjerg) has experienced increased traffic from large offshore vessels. In October, the port reached a milestone with the call of the largest ship that has ever called at the port - the installation vessel “Sea Installer” operated by A2SEA. Blue Water acted as agents for the installation vessel both on this and a later port call. During the same month, Blue Water also acted as agents for M/S “Triton” and

handled the loading of 18 wind blades on to the ship. “It was the first time such a large amount of blades was loaded in Hvide Sande and the operation went well. We are pleased that our agency for the “Sea Installer” went as planned and that we were appointed agent again when the vessel returned to the port, says Søren Stougaard, who is responsible for Blue Water’s Danish port agency activities.

for the transports on this project. When the turbines and towers arrive at the port of Swansea, they are loaded onto trucks. “Approximately 976 truckloads will be transported from the port area to the construction site. The challenges are particularly related to the infrastructure on

the construction site with many operators present and a lot of cargo to be moved around, stored etc. In addition, we have to comply with some very strict safety rules”, says Christian Heyk Petersen. The first deliveries reached Swansea in November and the project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.

It is a big task with coordination of a lot of shipments. Luckily, we have a good cooperation which also includes our office in Manchester.

Gigantic turbines Four gigantic wind turbines tower in Osterild where the Danish test centre for wind turbines is located. Blue Water has handled the transport of all the turbines which are the largest in the world. The fourth transport was completed in October when the latest turbine – a Siemens 7 MW – was delivered. “The turbines arrived by ship at the port of Hanstholm. Here they were discharged and loaded directly on special trailers for the further transportation to the test centre. The gigantic components are high technological and very valuable so we evaluated and conducted every

step of the operation carefully”, says Arnt Vad Jensen, who has been in charge of the discharging of all four wind turbines in Hanstholm. All components have been loaded by Blue Water in Esbjerg, Lindo and Aabenraa. Blue Water hopes to be involved in similar projects in the future, as the test centre has seven test stands. “We have built wide experience and enjoyed a good cooperation with the various wind turbine manufacturers for these transports. And we are ready to do it again when the next turbines are going to be installed”, says Arnt Vad Jensen.

The fourth transport for the test centre included tower sections weigh ing up to 190 tons each and with a diameter of nearly seven metres. No. 111

New Siemens contract In 2016 and 2017, all terminal handling of Siemens’ onshore and offshore wind turbines in Aarhus and Esbjerg will be performed in cooperation with Blue Water. Offshore wind turbines is a prominent activity for Siemens in Esbjerg. “Being appointed partner by Siemens, is a magnificent seal of approval. Siemens is one of the leading players in the global and domestic wind market. It is a very important project and we look forward to proving to Siemens that they made the right choice. Our experience and in-house competences make us well equipped for the projects”, says Per Jensen who is responsible for Blue Water’s Port Services in Esbjerg. 7

PORT SERVICES & AGENCY

Hydraulic hammers stored at Lindo Blue Water Lindo has signed a complete port service agreement with the German offshore specialist MENCK GmbH, Kaltenkirchen – an industry leader within hydraulic pile driving hammers. The agreement covers base facilities, stevedoring, port transfer and port agency service for the vessels delivering the hammers at Lindo. “It was necessary to find a location which meets the requirements for our fleet of large hydraulic hammers. After a long and intensive selection process, we decided in favour of the Lindo Terminal in Denmark”, says Bjoern Fitschen, Director of Operations at MENCK GmbH. The first hammer to arrive at Lindoe will be the “MHU3500S” - the largest and most powerful hydraulic hammer in the world. “MHU3500S” successfully fi nished an XXL monopile project for Vattenfall called “Sandbank”, and is already booked for an E.ON project called “Rampion” later in 2016. A second hammer is in production and will start operating on a DONG project called “Burbo Bank Extension” in 2016. Our new “MHU3500S” hammer fleet will be an important part in the installation of the huge amount of forecasted wind turbines in Europe”, says Nils Raab, Sales Manager Wind Europe at MENCK GmbH. 575 tons, 20.5 metres high and a diameter of 7.5 metres are the impressive dimensions.

Fender rental at Lindo Increased demand is the reason why Blue Water Lindo has decided to buy their own fenders as part of their fender rental programme. The plan for attracting clients is ready. “The large fenders cannot be transported traditionally by truck. Therefore we have developed a method to transport them with short notice no matter the destination. This has already paid off because our clients often need the fenders delivered swiftly and they need the flexibility we offer”, says Kim Thygesen from Blue Water Lindo. The fenders have already been used for Danish port projects as well as for offshore operations.

Comprehensive terminal contract Bilfinger Mars Offshore’s new fabrication site is located in Szczecin, Poland and Blue Water has signed a five-year terminal contract covering all logistics on site, operation of a state-of-the-art gantry crane, handling of components and stevedoring. “We have cooperated with Bilfinger for many years, and we are pleased to develop the cooperation further. We will provide a solid workforce based on many years of experience from Lindo and Esbjerg”, says Brian Sørensen, who is Business Development Manager for Blue Water Wind. Kim Thygesen from Blue Water Lindo is responsible for the project in Szczecin. The gantry crane, which is more than 120 metres high, has a lifting capacity of

1,400 tons. Blue Water will be responsible for operating the crane as well as all SPMTs (Self-Propelled-Modular-Transporters which are often used to move the large components on the site. “The services we provide here are among our core competences, and we see great opportunities for us to provide this service in other key locations in Europe in the future”, says Brian Sørensen. Bilfinger Mars Offshore provides offshore foundations to the wind industry. The production site in Szczecin is designed for serial production of jackets, jacket components, transition pieces and monopiles for water depths up to 60 metres and will in full operation produce more than 120.000 tons of steel annually.

Primary activities:

»» Road services to/from the Baltic States, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, CIS, Turkey and Greece

»» General Freight Forwaring – Road, Sea & Air »» Client & Key Account department »» Parcel & Couries services Blue Water’s office in Herning is located in the centre of Jutland, which is also the heart of the Danish textile industry. Apart from offering a wide range of freight forwarding services, there are two areas where our services stand out compared to our competitors’. Through our client department we provide special services to major clients including Siemens Wind Power, Kvik (kitchen manufacturer), ACO Funki and other clients with special requirements. “We deliver kitchens to around 40 Kvik 10

shops in Europe. The kitchen corpuses and table tops arrive from Kvik’s factory close to Herning and the sister company, DFI-Geisler, in the North of Jutland respectively. The table tops arrive in bulk (several hundred every week) at our warehouse where they are sorted in delivery order. Some of them are up to five metres long and it takes specialist handling to ensure that everything is stacked and loaded carefully and in a way that facilitates easy offloading for the shops”, says Fin Hüttel, who is in charge of our Herning office.

Our Key Account department acts as one-stop-shopping facility for local clients, in cooperation with other Blue Water departments - primarily on road, but also air and sea transport. Herning is also the controlling office for our traffics to/from the Baltics, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, CIS, Turkey and Greece. “Our team would like to be known for going the extra mile, meaning we deliver beyond our clients’ expectations. We hardly ever say no to a job – no job is too big or too small”, concludes Fin Hüttel. December 2015

OIL, GAS & PROJECTS

Heavy units to Brazil At the beginning of August, Blue Water Singapore shipped two heavy units, weighing more than 1,300 metric tons each, on the weather deck of the MV ‘’BBC Aquamarine’’. The units were safely loaded with the assistance of a floating crane. After the sea-fastening was completed, the vessel departed for its 30-day

voyage to Brazil. MV ‘’BBC Aquamarine’’ arrived as planned. She berthed under a mega gantry crane and her cargo was safely discharged at a shipyard. The vessel berthing and offloading of the first 1,300MT unit needed to be performed during the high tide. As such, the planning and cooperation between the vessel and

shipyard crew was the main factor for a successful discharge operation’’, says Sebastian Schilde, Project Manager at Blue Water Singapore. The transportation was executed in close cooperation with BBC Chartering and Blue Water’s offices in Singapore and Rio de Janeiro.

Blue Water’s office in Port Klang is located on the western shore of Selangor close to the main seaports in Malaysia. The office was established in 2009 to assist Maersk Drilling with transportation of riser pipes for the new-built Maersk rigs. Over the years, we have established a good working relationship with the supplier, Aker Solutions, who has become our key client in Malaysia. 12

“We have been involved in most of the heavy-lift transports for Aker Solutions, especially of the riser strings for Atwood Drilling, Vantage Drilling, Maersk Drilling and Transocean”, says Allen David, the General Manager in Port Klang. Through Blue Water Singapore, the office was also contracted to assist Keppel to transport almost 12,000 cbm of steel cargo from Malaysia to Keppel Shipyard

in Singapore. “We are able to provide a variety of services throughout Malaysia from different seaport locations. Our focus is on Oil & Energy, but we are always ready to assist with general freight inquiries as well. We offer our clients detailed attention and ensure that our level of service is of the highest standards and quality”, concludes Allen David. December 2015

OIL, GAS & PROJECTS

Final delivery for tunnel project

Strengthened set-up Blue Water PM is a cooperation between Blue Water and Italian Priano Marchelli & C. SRL focusing on oil, energy and industrial projects in Italy. The market represents good possibilities for developing activities here through a strong local set-up combined with a global network. Priano’s headquarters is located in Genoa near the port area which is an important hub for the industry in Italy. With an office in Civitavecchia in the Mid-North of Italy,

Blue Water PM can cover all of Italy with their services. For many years, we have worked closely together on different projects including Oil & Energy transports and yard stays in Palermo. We share a common set of values and the ambition to create the best solutions by focusing on the clients’ needs. We look forward to developing the strong ties between them further, says Anders Maul from Blue Water’s Oil & Energy division.

Blue Water Marseille has arranged delivery of two MPGs (Multi Purpose Gantry) to the London Crossrail Project – 21 kilometre twin tunnel being bored under the streets of London. To the left is Laurent Bernard, Purchasing and Logistics Manager of Metalliance, together with Lionel Guilbaud from Blue Water Marseille and the final MPG being delivered to the project. Metalliance has produced the MPGs for the project. In addition to the delivery of the MPGs, Blue Water has arranged delivery of 38 rail wagons from Narbonne and Mezy in France.

Steel for shopping centre In the heart of Esbjerg, a new shopping centre called “Broen” is under construction. The centre is expected to open in 2017 with 70 new shops at a 30.000 sqm area. Blue Water is transporting the large and heavy steel elements for the construction. “It is a big logistical challenge to perform delivery on the construction site by special transport with pilot car escort. It takes a lot of planning and coordination”, says Søren Bendixen, Project Manager at Bladt Industries, who delivers the steel elements.

No. 111

The steel girders are loaded on trucks at the production site in Poland and transported directly to Esbjerg. However, this is not a road transport in the traditional sense. “We must follow different regulations in both Poland, Germany and Denmark and we have to apply for transport permission in good time before the transport starts. Also, we must plan carefully to make sure that we keep to schedule. In Germany for instance, we are only allowed to transport the cargo at night”, says Jan Brøgger, Project Manager at Blue Water.

Keppel FELS contract In early July this year, Blue Water Singapore was awarded a one-year contract for freight services from Europe to Singapore. The contract was signed at Keppel FELS, the global leader in the design, construction and repair of mobile offshore rigs. The contract includes air and sea freight of oil well equipment from Europe - Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, Finland and Denmark - for their current and upcoming newbuilds. Blue Water Singapore has been handling the freight services from Europe to Singapore since 2012. In finding the best solutions, we work closely with Keppel FELS and thus creating an even stronger bond between our companies. Creating solutions and flexibility are the key factors that led to the success of this contract.

One mile fun walk for a good cause Blue Water New York participated in an Annual Breast Cancer Walk in October. Federal Business Center (our landlord) will make a donation, on behalf of each walker, to the American Cancer Society “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Fund. “This was very near and dear to all of us at Blue Water in New Jersey since one of our co-workers’ wife is battling breast cancer and we showed our love and support wishing her a very speedy recovery”, says the General Manager Barbara Belli.

Oldboys fighting on Iceland Blue Water was invited to an old boys football tournament on Iceland by our good client Samherji. Samherji had entered six teams for the tournament, all under the name “the Bastards”. Stephane le Badezet and Bent Rasmussen, from Blue Water Hirtshals, and Magnus Joensen from Blue Water Reykjavik played on the same team together with representatives from our good colleagues Nesfrakt.

“The success was a long time coming. The last match, however, ended in a victory and made the team winner of the prestigious President Cup”, says a proud Bent Rasmussen, the General Manager in Hirtshals. The two-day event finished with a celebration dinner at Samherji. Blue Water had the pleasure of being beer sponsor for the tournament.

22 nationalities on board “This summer MV ”Fulton” called at Bandholm Port during a two-week cruise for 27 young people. The local Lions Club was supporting the call, which included a tour of the harbour and a visit to the Knuthenborg Safaripark”, says Skipper Jacob Jensen. Blue Water Bandholm arranged free berthing for the vessel and donated Blue Water candies. MV “Fulton” is 100 years old and was originally built to the North Atlantic service carrying dried cod. The first eight years, the vessel sailed under Danish colours purely as a sailing ship. In 1970, the National Museum took ownership of the vessel which has been operated by the Fulton Foundation ever since. In the season, the vessel takes young people on two or three-week cruises. Shipping people also use “Fulton” for educational purposes going on two or three-week cruises.

Working hard and long on the pedals was part of the game when Kurt Skov, Blue Water’s Founder and Chairman, participated in a bicycle ride in the Alps in France. The tour was organised by our auditing firm, Deloitte. 30 riders participated and the programme included the two famous and legendaric Tour de France mountains Alpe d’Huez and Col de la Croix. Kurt Skov and the rest of the team were in great form after a long training season, but still, getting to the top took a lot of energy and hard work. “I am not a climber and I am normally not keen on steep gradients, but I was fit and it was a fantastic scenery for cycling. Climbing these famous mountains was an extra motivation”, says Kurt Skov about his challenge with the 21 hairpin bends and the 14-kilometre gradient to the top of Alpe d´Huez, which he managed, non-stop and without assistance, in one hour and 37 minutes.

This tour has been one of my greatest experiences on bicycle.

Boxing for charity In October, Lars Skov Christensen from our Singapore office participated in a White Collar Boxing (WCBA), event in Singapore together with 19 other participants. The event was arranged to raise money for the Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) in Cambodia, which provides help to disabled people. All 20 squad members had to help spreading awareness of CSC and raise funds by running fundraising pages on

the internet. In addition, boxing training at Vanda Boxing Club was compulsory for minimum 3 months prior to the fight. The event itself was a black tie event with more than one thousand spectators. Lars won his bout against the 40-year-old Columbian Oscar Forero by TKO in the first round and on that night the event raised over USD 250,000.

Relief aid to Lesbos The many refugees arriving to the Greek island of Lesbos receive great help from various quarters. Part of the help comes from volunteers participating in a Danish Facebook campaign aiming to help the refugees. Blue Water Copenhagen has chosen to support the initiative. “We have donated DKK 50,000 and offered our assistance with coordination of the container freight”, says Lars Tue Toftild, General Manager of Blue Water Copenhagen. All donations have been packed in containers and shipped to Lesbos.

On a beautiful summer evening in June, the members of Blue Water’s senior club for Esbjerg, Billund and Herning were invited on a city walk. The theme of the walk was “Esbjerg during the German occupation” and our guide from the city history museum took us back in time on a very exciting and interesting walk through the streets of Esbjerg. We finished the evening in Blue Water’s canteen enjoying a beer and a hot dog or two.

the world and Blue Water has decided to support him on his way. “It takes dedication and training for me to develop my skills and it means a lot to me that Blue Water will support me so I can become even better”, says Kristian Frost.

Blue Water cooperates with FANT (Football for A New Tomorrow) who works to spread the joy of sport in one of the poorest countries in the world, Sierra Leone in Africa. In Denmark, FANT aims to create joy and solidarity through football – by arranging football tournaments in the major cities among other things. In September, Esbjerg hosted such an event. Several companies participated and Blue Water was represented with two teams and the homeless people with one team. Unfortunately, the event was close to drowning as the Clerk of the Weather was not in the best mood. However, this did not spoil the day for the players who fought enthusiastically. FANT carried off the victory and Blue Water won the silver medal.

Silver sponsorship to AGF

Blue Water Aarhus has made a three-year sponsorship agreement with the Da nish badminton talent Anders Antonsen. 18-year-old Anders is the reigning European badminton champion in U19 men’s singles. Anders has great ambitions and has already created an image for himself at senior level. Blue Water hopes to be able to help the young talent to the top of international badminton. With this agreement, Blue Water will be the personal sponsor for Anders Antonsen as well as sponsor for his club, Aarhus Badmintonklub.

Blue Water has raised its sponsorship level in AGF (Aarhus football club) from bronze to silver in a new three-year contract. “Our Aarhus office is in a rapid development and we wish and expect that the extended cooperation with AGF will strengthen our position further in the region. It will also make it possible for us to invite our customers to some exciting football events. We look forward to developing our cooperation with AGF and together realising the goals we have set ourselves”, says Per Holm Nørgaard, the Director in Blue Water Aarhus.

Examination This is how happy 24 young Blue Water freight forwarding trainees were after two weeks of rote learning the subject of transport law in March and April. The inquisitive young people, representing our offices in Esbjerg, Copenhagen, Aalborg, Aarhus, Billund, Odense, Lindo, Kolding and Padborg, finished in style defending a self-composed business case at an oral examination – and got a 7.8. average

A legend turns 100 On 5.12, one of Esbjerg’s grand old men, Tage Sørensen, turns 100. Tage Sørensen has in many respects left his stamp on the town of Esbjerg – through his business achievements as well as through his interest in art, culture and sport. For Blue Water, the range of contact has included the cold stores in Esbjerg owned by the Claus Sørensen Group, activities in Greenland and in the North Jutland ports and also the Group’s other companies – e.g. Viking, Vestfrost and Blika - have for many years been our clients. We 16

hereby thank Tage Sørensen for a long and good cooperation and congratulate him on his very special birthday. In advance of his special birthday, Tage Sørensen received homage at the Fanø Art Gallery. He and his wife, Alice, have over the years left their magnificent mark on the gallery. In the picture, Tage Sørensen – surrounded by his grandchild Kristoffer Kristensen and, the wife of the latter, Dorthe - presents yet another painting to the gallery. Gyrithe and Kurt Skov participated in the event. December 2015

Jubilees 30 years Lennart Voss

21.01.86–21.01.2016

On 20.1.2016, Lennart Voss/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 30th anniversary. During his long career in Blue Water, Lennart has been far and wide. He started as office boy in Esbjerg, before he served his apprenticeship in the accounts department which he was part of until he moved on to new challenges in Hanstholm. Here, he was in charge of the accounts for the 20

then Blue Water Nord. After nine months in Hanstholm, Lennart returned to Esbjerg and a job in our IT department (which at that time was called EDP) due to his strong interest within this field. Lennart has for a number of years been in charge of one half of the IT team focusing on our IT operation, network and security. When he is off duty, Lennart loves to sleep late and spending time pursuing his many interests. Every Tuesday, he plays golf and he also rides his racing bike now and then. According to himself, Lennart is the world balut champion. Like any other computer wizard, he drinks a lot of coke, but he is also a whisky enthusiast who loves a good whisky.

Lennart is married to his ex-colleague from the accounts department, Dina, and the couple has two sons, Morten and Andreas. Morten has for several years assisted in the IT department and for the time being, his little brother, Andreas, is a regular “visitor” at the office.

Jubilees Leary’s/Blue Water Manchester second stint at Blue Water having already put in a couple of years’ service back in the late seventies when both he and the company were youngsters. In those days, the hair was longer and roll-up cigarettes were one of his vices. After a dozen years, Steve’s hard work and dedication to duty were recognised when he was promoted to the position of General Manager in Manchester, a role he still has today. In his time as General Manager, Steve has been instrumental in finding new premises and overseeing all aspects of the move on two separate occasions, each time with the office doubling in size – it is fair to say that he has not helped the office move far in terms of distance, but he has certainly brought us a long way with regard to the facilities we now enjoy. Nowadays, he is the pre-eminent authority in the UK when it comes to Faerch Plast and parcel deliveries and he is even willing to risk life and limb when it comes to customer service as shown, when on a visit to Faerch Plast in France, he endured a “hands free” taxi journey when the driver felt it was more important to dance to “Moves Like Jagger” than to steer the car. Outside work, Steve enjoys the great outdoors. So much so that around ten years ago, he and his wife decided to sell their house and they lived on a canal boat for a couple of years. There can be no slowing down as the years pass by as Steve and Denise, the proud parents of Becky and Emma, are now also the proud grandparents of Jack, Tom, Lilly and Oliver - and if that is not enough to keep them on their toes, then Alfie the dog makes sure there is never a dull moment. pratet pees restis quunt.

Simon devotes a large part of his free time to running and has run both half marathons and marathons and has also tried triathlon. In addition, he is riding his bike almost every day to and from work. Recently, Simon has also been acting as handyman for his daughter who has just left home.

Today, he is Project Manager in O&E Projects with special competences in Project Transportation via the Russian river system. Søren is extremely dedicated, enthusiastic and goes into details about everything he does. Søren’s predominant hobby is golf and he is also very interested in cars and wine – as long as he does not have to pay himself. Søren and his girlfriend, Signe, are expecting their first child + station wagon. We wonder how he is going to handle little dirty fingers in his newly washed car. We feel sure he will become a real “softie”

On his list of hobbies we find jogging and football among other things. Ralph has been married to his wife for 35 years and the couple has three sons.
