Blue Water Shippings overall results for 2015 show a loss of EUR 1.9 m mainly caused by the low oil price and big investments in the Nordic countries Since last autumn, Blue Water Shipping has experienced a decline in the transport activities related to the Oil and Energy sector. This is a contributory factor in the Danish transport and logistics company’s annual accounts for 2015 showing a loss of just over EUR 1.9 million before tax whereas the turnover increases slightly to EUR 671 million. These are the figures covering the activities of the entire Blue Water Group. ”It is a disappointing result. However, the minor loss for 2015 comes as no surprise to us. For several months, we have seen a slowdown in the activites – in particular in Oil and Energy where the entire sector is affected by the low oil prices”, says Blue Water Shipping’s Founder and Managing Director Kurt Skov.

Investments in the activities in Norway, Sweden and Finland have also affected the bottom line in 2015. ”During recent months, we have implemented a number of adaptations in our organisation preparing ourselves for the future. We still want to maintain a strong position in Norway, Sweden and Finland, but have decided to slow down a bit. Within Oil and Energy, we hold a strong position which will be strengthened significantly in the years to come on the basis of our biggest contract ever – a contract of EUR 300 million for a gigantic oil project in Kazakhstan”, says Kurt Skov.

Since January, Kurt Skov has been back at the head of Blue Water as Managing Director. Through a number of adaptations and changes, he and the other members of the Management Committee have revived the positive development.

Biggest activity delivers the goods The Blue Water Group’s biggest activity transport of consumer goods, industrial cargo and food products by sea, road and air – generated magnificent results in 2015. In particular Denmark showed growth in turnover as well as in profit. ”We are immensely satisfied and proud that we are able to grow in this competitive market. The profit margin is not very large, but our expertise, high level of service and close cooperation with the clients are the reason that they see a value in cooperating with Blue Water”, says Kurt Skov. This summer, Blue Water’s new cargo

terminal in Taulov will be operational. This will contribute to strengthening the service and quality of import and export transport. The company is also implementing new IT systems which will enhance both the efficiency and quality. ”I take a positive view of the future. We have a very strong core business and along with the investments we have made to improve our set-up and systems, I am convinced that we will see fine progress in our business in the short as well as in the long run”, says Kurt Skov who also mentions that Blue Water expects a positive result for 2016. Michelin food in Sydney

After ten successful weeks, the Michelin star restaurant Noma has closed its pop-up restaurant in Australia. Blue Water Copenhagen and Sydney handled the logistics both to and from Sydney. All kitchen equipment, furniture and interior from the original restaurant in Denmark were moved down under to create the genuine atmosphere. The scope of work included packing, wrapping, issuing of certificates, airfreight, cus toms clearance and special on-site delivery. “We managed everything within short time so that Noma could open on time. It is not every day that we transport an entire restaurant, but now we can proudly say that we have done it”, says Camilla Sørensen from Blue Water Sydney.

Two became four In April, Blue Water Bremen received an order from our client, Nor Lines, to transport two silos, weighing 38 tons each, from Corum in Turkey to Cuxhaven in Germany. “With short notice we arranged shipment of the two units by ferry from Corum to Trieste in Italy and transshipment to Austrian trucks for further transportation to ship’s side in Cuxhaven. Despite the fact that we had to face some paperwork problems on the way, we managed to deliver the silos on time - not least thanks to our subcontractor Zenit in Salzburg/Bergheim. “The satisfaction from all parties has since born fruit as we were recently entrusted with another transport for Nor Lines. This time the cargo included two tanks, weighing 29 tons each, to be transported from Turkey to Cuxhaven where they will be shipped by Nor Lines to Hammerfest in Norway”, says Ralf Poppe, the General Manager at Blue Water Bremen.

The Route Development Management initiative is launched to increase our cooperation within Sea and Air and contribute positively to the constant growth which Blue Water Shipping’s Sea and Air segment has experienced for quite some time.

New programme strengthens Sea & Air Blue Water’s Sea & Air organisation in the Nordic countries has introduced a Management & Development programme for our partners outside the Nordic region – comprising our own offices as well as recognised external partners on all continents. Through the programme, the different regions, for instance USA, have been allotted Route Development Managers from our Nordic Sea & Air organisation, typically one from Sea and one from Air. Major regions may be allotted more managers dependent of the scope of the assignment.

The main responsibility of these Managers is to develop the cooperation with our own offices and partners as well as act as problem shooters in the daily operational challenges. “We expect that the programme will be instrumental in strengthening the Sea & Air cooperation and contribute to the continued growth of our Sea and Air segment”, says the General Manager in Billund, Ole Haahr, who assists Frank Madsen, Product Manager for Sea & Airfreight in the Nordic region who is in charge of the programme.

Green energy control The Danish energy control systems manu facturer, DEIF, has signed a logistics contract with Blue Water Billund, who will be handling around 15,000 annual shipments. “One of our most important criteria for transport is that the quality of our products will be maintained. We want a partner who can garantee this. Therefore it is important that our partner is certified according to ISO standards”, says Thomas Ryberg Pedersen, Strategic Purchaser at DEIF. During the negotiations, Blue Water and DEIF had a good dialogue. “Our impression is that Blue Water is a trustworthy transport supplier who shares our view on the importance of mutual trust”, says Thomas Ryberg Pedersen.

The agreement covers all import and export shipments by sea and air. “We will collect the cargo and arrange distribution globally. Before shipping, we will make sure that all the cargo is marked and stored at our warehouses. The shipments will include urgent and express deliveries. Therefore our set-up is just perfect for this assignment as we are able to distribute the cargo swiftly”, says Kasper B. Olesen from Blue Water Billund. DEIF is a family-owned company with more than 640 employees and 16 subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and on the US continent. The company’s energy control units are delivered to several industries worldwide. June 2016

DIHAD Exhibition in Dubai

Challenge solved by air charter

Blue Water chartered an IL-76 to fly the materials to Thule Air Base. With only two annual port calls from Denmark, air charter is a good alternative for solving logistical challenges.

Logistical challenges need to be solved quickly. Especially if the client is in the middle of a project in Greenland and cannot wait for the next ship arriving with construction materials. This was recently the case for Per Aarsleff A/S, but through a good cooperation with Blue Water, the materials were delivered swiftly. Construction projects in Greenland often entail logistical challenges. Especially at Thule Air Base with only two annual port calls from Denmark. "If our projects change during construction, the only option is to transport the materials by air charter. With Blue Water as our partner, we have success fully transported 34 tons of materials to Greenland with a charter solution", says Henning Juncker Christensen, who is working for Aarsleff at Thule Air Base. Once the chartering decision was made, things went fast and all supplies were successfully delivered on time.

Fish exhibition in Bremen In February, Blue Water participated in the Fish International exhibition in Bremen. “It is not the largest exhibition of its kind, however, with 270 exhibitors and around 11,000 visitors, we met many interesting and potential clients and part1

ners. We experienced great interest for our services from Norway to Europe via Denmark. Afterwards, we have seen the results of this interest in our incoming orders” says Bent Rasmussen from Blue Water. 2

Blue Water participated with our own stand in the Dihad Exhibition in Dubai in March. Representatives from our Aid & Relief team from the offices in Billund, Doha and Dubai had some very busy, interesting and successful days. We welcomed many visitors to our stand, and also paid visits to our clients’ stands. The Dihad Exhibition is firmly established as the largest humanitarian event in the Middle East. The exhibition provides an ideal platform for networking. DIHAD 2016 featured companies specialising in supplying appropriate goods and services for disaster response operations, humanitarian aid projects and development programmes.

Super service Recently, we received an order from our relatively new client on Greece and Turkey, Hammer Tæpper A/S. “The order was for a road transport of 22 rolls of carpet to a ship in Piraeus port in Greece. However, subsequently receiving information that the ship would leave port four days ahead of schedule, we had to find another solution. Hammer Tæpper speeded up the production so that loading could take place one day earlier. Through our comprehensive network of express trucks, we managed to handle the project and deliver the carpets on time and to the client’s full satisfaction”, says Niels Christian Maibom from Blue Water Herning who was in charge of the transport. As proof of our client’s satisfaction, we received a mail from Hammer Tæpper: “Thank you for a super solution and service”.

Blue Water Finland is expanding its traffic to various countries on the European Continent via Rhenus Logistics’ network. “Road transport is still the most important traffic mode within Europe due to its cost efficient and flexible nature. It is our strategy to make our presence and network on the European Continent even stronger. This new partnership has brought a remarkably increase in our traffic on Spain, Portugal, Germany as well as the Benelux countries which are now all covered with our strong global partner Rhenus Logistics”, says Jouko Hinnerichsen, Road Freight Continent Manager in Blue Water Finland.

PORT SERVICES & AGENCY

Urgent delivery to cruise vessel Earlier this year, "Ovation of the Seas" - one of Royal Caribbean's cruise vessels - was in urgent need of a spare part. The vessel was doing one of her test trials six hours off the coast of Esbjerg, Denmark and Blue Water was entrusted with the assignment of ensuring that the spare part arrived swiftly. Through a close cooperation between Blue Water’s offices in Esbjerg and Turku, the project was solved successfully. "Around 15 p.m., we received a request from the Meyer Turku Shipyard to transport the spare part from Turku Airport to Esbjerg on the very same day. We chartered a small aircraft and due to the dimensions of the cargo, the pilots had to remove a few seats before departure", says Markku Laakso from Blue Water Turku. "Upon arrival at Esbjerg Airport, we unloaded the cargo and arranged the further transport by truck to the quayside in the port of Esbjerg. Together with Nicklas Lund from our agency department, I boarded the offshore vessel around midnight to ensure the safe delivery of the parts offshore", says Lisette Trab Munk, Head of Marine Logistics at Blue Water.

Construction of Scandlines’ new ferry MF “Berlin” was completed at Lindo, Odense. The ferry arrived in the middle of July 2014, and since then Blue Water has handled a series of assignments for Scandlines. “One of our first assignments was to transport six engine parts to Rodby. The largest elements weighing 55 tons each. During the project, we arranged accommodation and rental of warehouse facilities and containers. Also, we have transported a comprehensive amount of spare parts from Germany”, says Jens Anker Gents from Blue Water Lindo. During the project, Blue Water has

been in close contact with Scandlines who has benefited from the flexibility that characterises Blue Water. When Scandlines started to test the ferry berths, they needed four fenders delivered with short notice. “Fenders of that size are hard to get in Denmark. With help from our colleagues in Rotterdam, we picked up the fenders there. Their oversize dimensions and driving restrictions in Germany gave us a bit of a challenge with the transport. However, we managed to deliver the fenders on time, enabling Scandlines to carry out their tests”, says Jens Anker Gents.

Naming ceremony Port expansion Per Aarsleff A/S has been awarded a contract for the port expansion in Frederikshavn. In connection with the project, Blue Water’s agency department in Frederikshavn was appointed responsible for all safe-seanet reporting and customs handling of the ships calling at port during the expansion. We expect one daily port call with rocks and gravel which primarily arrive from Norway and Sweden. In addition, other port calls will be handled when ships arrive with other types of cargo to the construction site where we will act as agents for the vessels. The construction is expected to be completed in 2018 and the first stage, which begins this year, is valued at more than half a billion DKK.

More than 200 guests participated in the naming ceremony for Seajacks’ newly built installation vessel for offshore wind turbines "Seajacks Scylla". The ceremony was held in Great Yarmouth Outer Harbour on the British east coast and Blue Water was among the guests. "We were pleased to receive an invitation and naturally we wanted to take part in the naming ceremony for “Seajacks Scylla”. It was important for us to participate as

we have worked together with Seajacks for many years acting as agents for their vessels in Danish ports. Establishing good relations with the clients is important for Blue Water", says Rob Ballance from Blue Water Manchester. Rob Ballance and his colleague from Esbjerg, Mikkel Puggard Hansen, took the opportunity to present a gift to the CEO of Seajacks. The gift was a storm glass, which is both a useful maritime gift and a symbol of wishing the shipowner a fair wind in the future. WIND LOGISTICS

Historic project in USA Since December 2015, Blue Water USA has been providing hub logistics services to General Electric (GE) in the Port of Providence (Rhode Island) for the 30 MW Block Island Wind Farm which is the first offshore wind farm in the United States. The scope of the services includes heavy lift and storage of turbine components as well as warehouse management and

support activities related to the tower assembly work. The Blue Water personnel on site in Port of Providence are working closely with local subcontractors to perform the services. Built by Deepwater Wind and located three miles off the coast of Block Island (Rhode Island), the wind farm is scheduled to come online at the end of 2016 and

generate 125,000 megawatt-hours of electricity which is enough to meet 90 per cent of Block Island’s power needs. In addition to the hub logistics in the Port of Providence, Blue Water has been performing the transport of the wind turbine components, namely the tower sections from Aviles in Spain and the blades from Denmark.

produced in Aalborg. These jackets and piles are transported to Sassnitz-Mukran in Germany. Blue Water has made an agreement for port handling, stevedoring and agency in both Lindo and Aalborg. "At Lindo, we will be handling the foundations while Aalborg handles the piles which are produced by Bladt Industries. Both the piles and foundations are transported by barge and we will perform all the preparation of jackets, sea-fastening operations and handling of the barges. Agency for both barges and tugs are also our responsibility. Boskalis will handle the transport themselves", says Kim Thygesen from Blue Water Lindo. The turbines will be installed by Offshore Windforce (a joint venture of Boskalis and Volker Wessels). In total, the wind farm will be able to generate around 350 MW. The remaining 29 jackets are produced in Spain.

Full package solution MV “Clipper Newark” arrived in Esbjerg to load wind turbine cargo to Texas, USA. The call was arranged through our wind logistics department while our stevedores were involved in the loading operations. Also, the agency department was involved as they handled the documentation. Blue Water is proud to provide our customers with full package solutions. 7

REEFER LOGISTICS

In good company In March, we participated in the Annual Marketing Conference of USAPEEC (USA Poultry & Egg Export Council) in Santiago, Chile "The conference was very informative with many excellent speakers. We spent the week in the company of great staff from USAPEEC and several key stakeholders from the industry”, says Lasse Petersen from Blue Water Miami. The South American market is becoming increasingly important for Blue Water. The people of South America ge-

nerally have a great attitude towards American products including the chicken products delivered from the members of USAPEEC. “In particular, the west coast of South America has gained a lot of traction over the last few years. It was therefore particularly important for us to participate", says Lasse Petersen.

Billund Manager: Ole Haahr Hansen Established: 1998 Employees: 33 (BLL) 6 (EBJ) 2 (ODE) 1 (SGD) Primary activities:

»» Airfreight – Import & Export (Nordic Gateway) »» Courier »» Government & Defence Logistics »» Aid & Relief »» Charter »» Perishables Logistics

Blue Water established an office in Billund Airport in 1998. The office is still located in the airport – 800 m2 office and 400 m2 warehouse facilities. Billund is Blue Water’s biggest airfreight office. The two gateways are responsible for our airfreight traffic in and out of Denmark and they are also assisting our Nordic offices. “Government & Defence Logistics and Aid & Relief are two other major activities for which Billund is in charge of the development. Aircraft

Charter is a fairly new initiative in connection with which we are working to develop our share of the market. Perishables by air – mainly fresh salmon, but also other products such as meat, cheese and butter – is another major area that we are developing. Most recently, we stationed an employee in-house at our big client, Kongskilde in Sonderborg, for whom we take care of all logistics”, says General Manager Ole Haahr Hansen. “We are currently involved in several major

projects including a contract with Danish Armed Forces and various big relief work projects. Recently, we arranged distribution of mosquito nets to the Solomon Islands – an extremely complex project due to the local geography. Our office is operational 24/7. In case of chilled/frozen fish distribution, charters as well as many other jobs requiring urgent attention, we are always ready to assist”, says Ole Haahr Hansen.

REEFER LOGISTICS

Launching new Reefer Service Fabrice Rolland from our Brest office and Jason Goh from Singapore promoted our new Reefer Consolidation Service for food products such as reefer goods from France to Singapore at the Food & Hotel Asia exhibition in Singapore. With the new service, Blue Water is able to offer collection of reefer goods all over Western Europe for further transport to Singapore. We handle the storage, export and import documents as well as unloading, dispatch and door-to-door delivery in Singapore. “When our clients use this service, we guarantee that our quality standards are maintained through the entire transport process. Consolidation is also an opportunity for our clients to save costs and optimise shipments”, says Fabrice Rolland. There were roughly 68,000 trade attendees from 95 countries at the exhibition.

FL: Laurie Morvan and Fabrice Rolland represented Blue Water and were both pleased with all the contacts they made during the five-day Europain exhibition.

Reefer promotion in Paris A large share of the 60,000 reefer TEU handled by Blue Water each year is made up of frozen poultry and meat cargo which are carried all around the world. However, Blue Water Brest has been working hard to promote our services for other types of reefer cargo as well. “France is rich in diversified food products and we have made an effort and are now starting to see the result within transport of frozen bakery and pastry products as well as fruit purée and frozen convenience meals”, says Fabrice Rolland, Head of the Reefer Department at Blue Water Brest. To promote the services further, Blue Water Brest participated in the bakery and pastry exhibition Europain in Paris, which is one of the most important exhibitions in the food market.

Our good client AF&AM invited us to participate in the exhibition and be part of their stand. We were busy attending to the many visitors and making many new contacts. On the right is Fabrice Rolland.

Improved safety The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted a new container weight verification requirement as per 1 July stating that vessel owners can only load containers with shipper-declared Verified Gross Mass (VGM). This means that there will be two ways of weighing the containers in the future. The purpose of the new requirements on containers is to improve the maritime safety. So far, the new initiative is in a preliminary phase with many unknown aspects. We will find the best procedure with each shipping company and provide information as well as recommendations for our clients.

OIL, GAS & PROJECTS

Heavy-lifting in Singapore Blue Water Singapore was awarded by Menck Singapore to transport 12 packages from a client's yard at OMC (Offshore Marine Centre), Singapore to a private yard of Saipem in Karimun, Indonesia. The mode of transport was a 250 ft barge paired with a 1400 hp tug boat. This was an urgent transport and we had to gather all the equipment as well as issuance of a method statement, etc. within a couple of days’ lead time. The operations went as planned and were completed under fair weather conditions with no incidents. Our scope of work included stevedoring, rigging and lifting, lashing as well as customs handling and making sure that all regulatory permits were in place. We deployed hydraulic trailers, self-propelled modular transporters and low bed trailers for the road transport. The lifting operations required several mobile cranes ranging from 150-750 mt to lift containers, stab frames and hammer systems onto barges and trailers.

10-year contract with Schlumberger

The equipment being transported for MENCK included a 140 mt stab frame, 2 hammer systems weighing 60 mt each and other items weighing 27 mt. Truly a heavy lift assignment.

Blue Water and Schlumberger Danmark have recently agreed to a 10-year port handling agreement. The contract also includes a 10-year rental agreement of offices and warehouses. Schlumberger is a leading provider to the Oil & Gas industry . “Through many years of cooperation, we have built a close relationship and Blue Water has gained extensive knowledge with handling our cargo. Therefore, it was an easy choice to extend the contract and cooperation with Blue Water. We expect a qualified service and a professional partner for these assignments and Blue Water fulfils our requirements”, says Frank Lind, General Manager of Schlumberger Denmark. Schlumberger have recently upgraded their fleet in Esbjerg, now presenting the widest range of vessels in the world. The port handling contract includes port handling, ship’s agency and cargo transportation in the port of Esbjerg.

On time in Angola Having the right equipment, precise calculations and perfect timing are all vital aspects when solving a transport assignment. When Blue Water relocated two tug boats from Soyo, Angola to Antwerp in Belgium, those parameters were part of ensuring a well-performed project. Blue Water handled the chartering of the ship which carried the tug boats to Antwerp. The tugs were lashed according to the calculations from the engineers, and stevedores from Esbjerg made sure to ship the right lashing equipment to Soyo as it was not possible to get such equipment in Angola. “It was important for us to get the equipment there on time as it was rainy season in Angola during loading. This always creates major problems for deliveries, but everything went according to plan”, says Søren Gammelgaard from Blue Water Esbjerg. The lasing equipment was swiftly and effectively delivered in Soyo, where Blue Water also handled the customs clearance.

Route survey in Baku In connection with a Refinery Modernisation project, Blue Water has presented a logistical study to the state oil company Socar in Azerbaijan. The purpose of the study was to determine and produce a thorough port and route survey to present the most optimal transportation route for the project. “Our study includes all relevant information about the two most suitable ports in Baku such as entrance/exit points, discharging facilities, water depth etc. Also, the study describes the procedures

for obtaining permits as well as the local regulations for handling out-of-gauge cargo”, says Jacob Thomsen, Operations Manager at Blue Water. The study was conducted by Blue Water’s Technical department which includes experienced project freight forwarders and engineers who worked closely together with the Baku office. “To gather all this information, it is vital to work closely together with someone who speaks the native language and knows about the local conditions, regulations etc.

In other words, you need local experts such as our colleagues from Blue Water Baku. Based on our study, the project logistics takes offset in this report for the best possible planning”, says Jacob Thomsen. Priano visit in Holland

FL: Hans Poiesz/Blue Water, Luca Brunoni, Claudio Giachero/Priano Marchelli, Lisette Trab Munk/Blue Water, Andrea Giachero/Priano Marchelli and Bob Tisserand/Blue Water.

Priano Marchelli – our partner from Italy – visited our offices in Holland in March. First off, we had a meeting in Rotterdam and later, we took the opportunity to also visit the Amsterdam office which primarily handles airfreight shipments and is conveniently located at Schiphol Airport. We had great meetings discussing our future cooperation on the Cruise and Marine activities in Holland.

Team Cruise & Marine Logistic Network

Positive synergies Blue Water & Cruise & Marine Logistic Network were represented at Seatrade Cruise Global

FL: Hans Poiesz/Blue Water, Colin Coleman/Crystal Cruises and Reinier van Elderen/Frigo Breda.

Crystal Cruises visiting In April, Colin Coleman from Crystal Cruises visited our office in Rotterdam. We had a meeting about the service we will render to the river cruise vessel "Crystal Mozart" which at that time was in dry dock near Linz/ Austria. The vessel is Crystal Cruise’s first river cruise vessel and is expected to start its river cruises in July. We will handle shipments to Rotterdam and direct deliveries to the yard in Austria on behalf of both Crystal Cruises, vendors and contractors. During the visit, we also seized the opportunity to see our consolidation point EDC North at Frigo Breda.

"Harmony of the Seas" Blue Water Nantes has handled numerous shipments mainly from Finland and USA to STX shipyard in Saint Nazaire in connection with the construction of Royal Caribbean’s cruise vessel MV ”Harmony of the Seas”. Our involvement also included customs clearance of food and beverages loaded on the ship. All road transports were carried out in close cooperation with Blue Water Rotterdam. The cruise team was recently invited by STX for a visit on board the gigantic cruise vessel before her maiden voyage from Saint Nazaire, France to Southampton in the UK.

12

This year, the venue was held in Fort Lauderdale Convention Center. We were represented within both Logistics and Cruise Agency as we are beginning to see more positive synergies between our offices and services. The feedback received from existing and potential clients was overall very positive and indicated chances to increase business opportunities between our offices’ business areas: Logistics and Agency. The Dutch trade delegation – with assistance from the Dutch embassy in Miami, Florida - dropped by to use our meeting facilities. Although they were sitting very close to each other for lunch,

it looked like they were having a good time as you can see from the photo. Our good contact from the consulate, Esther van Geloven, later confirmed this. It was great to see "familiar" faces thank you all for coming.

Familiar faces – new opportunities The Marine Hotel Association (MHA) is an international organisation run by and for the cruise line industry. Its purpose is to enhance the overall quality of cruise experiences. This year, we were represented at the fair and for the first time we had our own booth. Compared to other

exhibitions, MHA is a relatively small fair, however, a very cosy and interesting one. We had the opportunity to meet many familiar faces, however, we also came across some potentials. Below: Hans Busbroek/Blue Water Rotterdam enjoying the good company.

BLUE WATER CORPORATE

Dangerous goods experts

Singapore preparing for certification From 25-28 April, Susanne Veie Svenningsen and Jacob Schaldemose Rødgaard from the Group HSSE & Quality department visited Singapore to kick off the certification process. The visit was the first out of three and initiated the preparation for an ISO 9001/14001 and OHSAS 18001 certification in March 2017.

All employees at the Singapore office joined different sessions and key personnel were trained in tools and databases. The Singapore office has experienced an increasing demand from customers in regard to certification. Therefore, the certification is strategically important for Blue Water in order to retain satisfied customers in the region.

Blue Water’s Copenhagen office has eight airfreight forwarders who are all holding a Dangerous Goods Certificate in the airfreight category (IATA cat. 3). IATA’s requirement is minimum two certificates per office. We believe it is important that all colleagues involved have a thorough knowledge of dangerous goods and the handling operation in connection with airfreight. “We often experience that the clients are not up to date on the regulations for dangerous goods by airfreight. This is where we come into the picture. We can give the clients advice and guide them and minimise mistakes which otherwise might end up costing a lot of money if they are not discovered”, says Barbara Tullberg, who is in charge of Airfreight, Courier as well as Marine Logistics at Blue Water Copenhagen. We are extremely proud on behalf of our colleague Rógvi Helmsdal who, at the latest Dangerous Goods Management course passed 100 per cent – Best in Class.

OFFICE PRESENTATION

Brazil

Rio de Janeiro Manager: Didier Fay-Keller Established: 2010 Employees: 10 Primary activities:

»» International Transport – Air & Ocean »» Local Logistics »» Port & Airport Support »» Oil & Gas & Projects »» Wind »» General Cargo Blue Water’s office in Rio de Janeiro is centrally located close to the port and Santos Dumont Airport which makes the cooperation with brokers and customers easier. The office was established in 2010 to attend to the project of the first SBM FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage & Offloading) unit in Brazil. Since then, the team has handled three other FPSOs and is today taking care of the resupply cargo for two of these SBM vessels. In addition, resupply shipments are being handled for other supply boat owners who ask for just-in-time information and a high level of service.

“Our activity has always been focused on the Oil & Gas industry as the state of Rio de Janeiro produces 80 per cent of the entire oil production in Brazil. In the offshore industry, shipyards, platforms, FPSOs and supply boats always need equipment and spares, and our job is to deliver quickly and safely”, says General Manager Didier Fay-Keller Due to the low oil price and the global crisis, the office is, however, diversifying its activity and launching a strong commercial activity in Wind and Industrial Projects. Renewable energy is the one activity that grows most in

Brazil and in Blue Water Brazil, and the operational staff is developing a close relationship with the main players. Project cargo is also a priority for them and due to the dimensions of the country, our staff is always ready to attend to specific projects anywhere from north to south. “We believe that quality of service, compliance, HSE and management systems will also be more and more requested by the customers. Therefore we want to be up to date on these criteria and grow even in a scenario of crisis”, says Didier Fay-Keller

BLUE WATER SPIRIT

A spring classic

A handful of happy colleagues from Blue Water Aarhus pedaled hard when participating in Denmark’s highest amateur bike race. Having taken place for several successive years, the race is known by the locals as a spring classic. Several of the participants were accompanied by their families and the race started after a nice breakfast together. It was a great day which also included activities for the families during the race.

Arctic Winter Games The Arctic Winter Games is a sports competition for Scandinavian and Arctic athletes. This year, the competition was held in Nuuk, Greenland and Blue Water was one of the sponsors of the event. We handled local transportation and lent the games organizers one of our trucks which was used as a stage during a night of music and festivities.

Gold to Esbjerg Both the Danish Championship of the men’s ice hockey team "Esbjerg Energy" and the women’s handball team "Team Esbjerg" were celebrated earlier this year. The handball result was historic because it was Team Esbjerg’s first Danish championship ever. “We were involved as co-owners of Team Esbjerg in 2010. At that point the club was almost dissolved, but since then, the club and its financial situation have improved. This championship is a sign of

redemption and the culmination of a long journey for the club, players and Esbjerg as a city”, says Kurt Skov and Chairman Bjarne Pedersen. Team Esbjerg secured their victory after a dramatic final which was settled after penalty throw. Blue Water also sponsors the ice hockey team who beat the rivals from Herning and were able to call themselves Danish Champions for the first time in 12 years.

Celebration in New York Lisa Manetta and Kelly Delle Fave from Blue Water’s New York office attended the 99th Annual Dinner for the New York New Jersey Foreign Freight Forwarders & Brokers Association. We attended as guests of Shipco Transport. “This is an annual event held at the famous Marriott Marquis in Time Square. Over 700 guests attended from our industry to pay tribute to the person of the year, Mario Cordero, who is the Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, and our Industry”, says Kelly Delle Fave, who is the Treasurer of the Association.

Classic cars and new owners Blue Water Aarhus has handled all logistics of the valuable cars in connection with the arrangement of one of Europe's biggest car auctions for classic cars during the historic racing festival Classic Race Aarhus. "Transporting these cars is an interesting niche market in which we are gaining a foot hold. Our small team has built experience in handling these types of transports during recent years", says Jan Dam Poulsen from Blue Water Aarhus. Around 100 cars, ranging from exclusive Ferraris and Bentleys to the less expensive Ford models from the seventies, were on auction. Blue Water was responsible for collection of the cars and for delivery to the new owners.

Jubilees 30th Jan Kanstrup

01.07.86–01.07.2016

On 1.7, Jan Kanstrup/Blue Water Aarhus will celebrate his 30th anniversary. During his entire career, Jan has managed to navigate in a changing market. Navigation with service, quality and profit is a religion to Jan – he refuses to compromise. Only Mrs Kanstrup and a glass of cold ale give him greater satisfaction than the kick he gets from being best and always doing a better job than the competitors. Jan is greatly respected and so is his profound knowledge. Norwegian postal codes and customs tariffs in particular are his speciality. Within this field, he is considered a true “Rain Man”. When he is not working on finding the best solution to the clients, Jan plays tennis in the local tennis club where he is also on the committee. Failures on Jan’s part is a rare occurrence. However, when he bought a new, expensive iPhone, it was put on silence for a long time until one of his colleagues showed mercy and helped him activate the sound.

30th Carsten Steffensen

21.07.86–21.07.2016

Newly graduated from Esbjerg Business Academy, Carsten Steffensen/Blue Water Esbjerg started as Trainee at our Head quarters on 21.7.1986. Carsten has in his long career with Blue Water been involved in various activities, mostly connected to food transport. Years back, he formed part of our team servicing the Lauritzen Reefer vessels carrying meat, poultry etc. to the Middle East. Carsten was in 2001 appointed Director of Blue Water Transport and in charge of the Padborg office (Trucks and Fish Logistics). For a number of years, Carsten has now performed the function of General Manager at our Headquarters in Esbjerg No. 113

parallel with the above responsibilities in Padborg. Carsten is married to Helena and the couple has three sons: Casper, Jonas and Oliver. Casper and Carsten are also colleagues at the Esbjerg office as Casper forms part of our Deep Sea Export team. In his free time, your will often see Carsten riding his racing bike. Every year, he participates in a charity bike race, together with a number of colleagues from the Esbjerg office.

30th Anette Svarrer Teilmann

01.08.86–01.08.2016

On 1.8, Anette Svarrer Teilmann/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 30th anniversary. Anette started her career as Trainee in our Airfreight department in Esbjerg which she remained part of until she had given birth to her two daughters. Then she moved on to the Accounting group which she is still part of as responsible for the airfreight accounts of Esbjerg and Billund, the airlines’ invoices for all the Danish offices as well as updating of air rates. Anette is married to Niels – commonly known as Mus (Mouse) – and they have two grown-up daughters, Susanne and Betina, who both live and study in Aarhus. The family also includes two sons-in-law and Anette and Mus often go to Aarhus to visit the young ones. In the winter time, Anette gives high priority to the family’s skiing holiday. In everyday life she keeps fit by exercising and by riding her bicycle to the office. However, she does cheat a bit when the headwind is too strong as she is riding an electric bicycle.

30th Kim la Cour

01.09.86–01.09.2016

Kim la Cour/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 30th anniversary on 1.9. Kim

originally started in our Accounts department in Esbjerg. After a few years, he was promoted to Accounts Manager for the then existing offices – Hanstholm, Hirtshals and the Skaw - in the name of Blue Water Nord. Gradually Kim developed an interest for IT (at that time called EDP) and joined our IT department in 1996. Kim’s great competences within this field have resulted in various magnificent IT programs for the benefit of ourselves and not least our clients. Kim is a familiar face at our offices around the world as his expert knowledge is much in demand. Kim is a relaxed and easy-going person, which is no doubt an advantage for a father of no less than five children aged 14 to 25. Kim is fond of travelling and has seen half the world. Borneo, Costa Rica and the USA are just a few of the destinations he has visited besides his many trips to European capitals and not forgetting his annual skiing holidays. He is also a connoisseur of wine. Kim’s “wine cellar” will no doubt make many of his colleagues turn green with envy.

Silver Marianne Berg

01.07.91–01.07.2016

On 1.7, Marianne Berg/Blue Water Esbjerg originally started as a Trainee in our Accounts department in Esbjerg, but was during her apprenticeship transferred to Odense. Three years later, Marianne returned to the Account team in Esbjerg and became responsible for the Economy of the Haulage department in the then Blue Water Transport. In 1999, Marianne accepted a big challenge and moved to the South of Jutland as Chief Accountant at the Padborg office. Marianne has now been back in Esbjerg for a long time. In 2011, she moved from Esbjerg Bookkeeping to Finance and she is also part of our TMS project. By marrying Leif, Marianne became the stepmother of his two children Lasse and Annika. The couple has since increased their family by a joint child Signe. The family also includes a guinea pig named 19

Silver Claus Laursen

01.08.91–01.08.2016

Claus Laursen/Blue Water Dubai started as Trainee in Blue Water Esbjerg on 1.8.91 – first in Deep Sea and then Agency. In 1994, Claus moved on to new challenges in Dubai where he for four years was involved in Food Transport and Development of our Traffic through Iran to Central Asia and the CIS. In 1999, Claus returned to Denmark (Copenhagen), however, spending most of his time in the US developing our client base within the Food Industry. Later on, Claus settled down in Copenhagen and accepted a newly established post as Logistics Manager. However, Claus and his family longed to live abroad and returned to Dubai in 2004 where Claus for a number of years performed the function of General Manager. A few years ago, Claus wished to change path and was transferred to the function of Regional Business Development Manager CIS and the Middle East. In connection with the award of the project for TCO, Claus and his family will move to Farnborough in the UK where he, as Project Director, will be in charge of the handling of the overall logistics project. Claus is married to Joan who is also the mother of his two children, Caroline and Rasmus. When Claus is not working – which he is all the time according to his family – he plays golf or goes for a bicycle ride early in the morning before it gets too hot. If Claus cannot be found on the golf course or riding his bike, he is most likely sitting somewhere among the audience in the swimming stadium cheering on his daughter Caroline.

20th Inga Safarova

10.07.96–10.07.2016

On 10.7.96, Inga Safarova/Blue Water Baku was employed as an Airfreight Coordinator and brought with her comprehensive knowledge about airlines and airport work from her previous job in Baku International Airport. Inga plays one of the leading roles in Blue Water’s Baku operation. She is Team Leader for five people working closely with her on Projects and Key Accounts. Inga is also doing internal training of new employees on the work processes and airfreight operations. In addition to her University degree, she has completed different professional freight forwarding courses. Inga is a loving daughter taking care of her mother aged 78. Inga has a daughter, Kristine, aged 25 and a lovely granddaughter, Poline, who is nine months old. Inga likes literature, music and shopping - like all real women!

20th Thomas Bek

01.08.96–01.08.2016

Thomas Bek/Blue Water Esbjerg has travelled far and wide in his 20 years with Blue Water. On 1.8.96, he started as a young Trainee in Deep Sea Shipping and was later transferred to Oil & Energy. Having completed his apprenticeship, Thomas was ready to take up new challenges in Houston (in-house at our agent) and Baku respectively. Back home again, Thomas joined his old team, Oil & Energy, for which department he was subsequently appointed Manager. When Blue Water established an office in Houston, Thomas volunteered and built up the office from scratch. Ten years ago, he returned to Denmark to join our international Project department. Today Thomas is the Head of our Oil, Gas & Projects segment.

He is known and respected for his great commitment and is always in a good mood. Thomas wants everything to be perfect. When visiting customers, he is always very well-dressed. And if some of his colleagues join him, he always checks their clothes and shoes out just to make sure they are appropriately dressed. He has truly earned the title: Mr. Offshore. Thomas has run a few marathons.... But on one occasion, no one could find him after he had crossed the finishing line…because he ended up in hospital. Apparently he gave everything he had in him and a bit more. Thomas lives together with Karina and they have two children – Emma aged eight and Villum who is four years old.

20th Morten Brix Grønhøj

01.08.96–01.08.2016

On 1.8.1996, Morten Brix Grønhøj/Blue Water Aalborg joined our Aalborg team as a young promising Airfreight Forwarder. Due to his enthusiasm and brilliant skills, Morten was soon appointed Manager of the Airfreight department and has contributed greatly to the continued growth of this activity. Morten is dedicated to his job and to creating fine results with great expertise together with his team. He takes part in all the facets of the airfreight activity and sticks to the routines. Therefore new modern routines are not always welcome – only the very best ones. He has now for more than 15 years been in charge of the Airfreight and Courier department which today includes nine colleagues. Morten is a sociable fellow who always participates in company and office parties and other social events. His favourite sports include football, badminton and squash. Morten is, however, not very active any longer as he devotes his time to his family: his wife, Mette, and their three small children.

Søren Bo Larsen/Blue Water Copenhagen started as Freight Forwarder in Import from the Continent on 1.7.2006 when his hair was still red and he was a man of temperament. During the past 10 years, however, Søren’s hair has faded and so has his temper. This is in fact a good thing as he joined our Sales department in January to learn about Pharma and to make sure that our clients are happy and satisfied. Søren is always in a good mood and outspoken. He has a lovely and sweet wife and when it comes down to it, we believe she is the one wearing the trousers. She and their daughter have everything under control except when Søren is sitting behind the wheel. Søren is a popular colleague. but his nickname “Red Romario” will not last long.

Barbara Helena Tullberg/Blue Water Copenhagen started in North Atlantic Sea Freight on 1.7.2006. Today Barbara is responsible for Airfreight Import and Export, Courier as well as Marine Logistics. In her busy working day, Barbara can sometimes be forgetful. A couple of years ago, we had an event for department managers and Barbara was of course participating. But she had forgotten that it was her 12 ½ years wedding anniversary. As a surprise, Barbara’s husband, Jacob, popped in, together with their daughters, to dance the bridal waltz with his wife. In her free time, Barbara performs the function of driver for her daughters taking them to handball and volleyball matches in various sport centres all across the country.

29.07.06–29.07.2016

On 29.7, Alla Guk/Blue Water Aktau will celebrate her 10th anniversary with Blue Water. When Alla took over the responsibility as General Manager, she was at first a bit nervous whether she would be able to live up to her new role, which she has proved fully worthy of. Alla is a loyal, very dedicated and well-liked colleague and furthermore, she is always well-prepared, positive and in a good mood. She has made a great and targeted effort to streamline the office and has over a short span of years managed to generate interesting and attractive business to the efficient office in Aktau. Alla loves to travel – her favourite holiday destination is the Maldive Islands. And the apple of her eye is her beloved bulldog.

On 1.8.2006, Tina Rasmussen/Blue Water Copenhagen started as Trainee in our UK department in Esbjerg. In her second year of apprenticeship, Tina moved to the Odense office where she became involved in Road Traffic to Spain. Later, Tina moved on to Copenhagen to join our Italian and Domestic Transport teams. Today, Tina forms part of our Key Account group in Copenhagen. Tina is very competent in her job as well as hard-working and she is popular with her colleagues as well as with our clients and suppliers. She is meticulous always checking everything twice, just like when she counted the number of sushi pieces in a 50-piece box. Tina lives together with Miller – our Distribution Haulier in Copenhagen – and they have a son, Oliver.

On 1.8, Jannie Kjær/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary. Jannie served her apprenticeship in our Finance department and is still part of this team. Over the years, Jannie has worked together with and visited several of our offices, including Doha where she also tried the local culinary specialities. Jannie is popular among her colleagues in Esbjerg as well as abroad. She has a twinkle in the eye and wide knowledge of the Blue Water organisation and our systems. Badminton has always been among Jannie’s priorities, but that was before she met Thomas and certainly before they increased their family by two lovely boys. Now she is wheeling her pram up and down the streets instead.

On 1.9, Zaida Pena/Blue Water Miami will celebrate her 10th anniversary. Zaida started up our Fort Lauderdale office as the Operations Manager where she had to share a desk and phone with her colleague, Rasmus Øllgaard, and use excel spreadsheets to do bills of lading. Since then, our activities in Florida have come a long way. The offices have merged into one office in Miami where we also have a warehouse and Zaida is very passionate about running it as smoothly and efficiently as possible. She does, however, continue to have her hands in Freight Forwarding as she loves the daily rush and deadlines of handling shipments. Zaida has been happily married to Eduardo for nine years and they are the proud parents of one son, Carlos, and two daughters, Keana and Tanedys.

On 1.8, Nikolaj Buurgaard Sørensen/ Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 10th anniversary. Having completed his apprenticeship in Key Accounts, Nikolaj moved on to Oil, Energy & Industrial Projects where he has built wide knowledge and experience in project transportation. Nikolaj is still part of this team now as Operations Manager enjoying profound respect from both colleagues and clients. Nikolaj is quiet, calm and wise. He is also nerdy – in a good way. He is a true perfectionist analysing and investigating everything carefully. Nikolaj lives in a small village outside Esbjerg together with his girlfriend, Pia, and their “children”: Audi, Golf and Fiat. In addition to being an intense bargainer, Nikolaj’s overall passion is cars and he looks after them and care for them as if they were his children. 22

On 7.8, Ann-Lis Rosenbæk/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary. In her time with Blue Water, Ann-Lis has always formed part of our Courier and Airfreight department and is today an old hand, in fact the oldest, in her team. Consequently her “elephant memory” is often in high demand. Sometimes when performing her duties, Ann-List must react in a sharp tone – which she is actually good at! She is a very dedicated person and a brilliant ambassador for the Blue Water Spirit. Ann-Lis is also known as “the girl with the yellow bicycle helmet” and “the car drivers’ worst enemy”. She will for sure tell them if they make mistakes. Ann-Lis is married to Mogens and has a son and a daughter, Anders and Pernille. The couple’s leisure activities include golf and travelling – and they often combine the two things.

01.09.06–01.09.2016

On 1.9, Roberta Gandola/Blue Water Odense will celebrate her 10th anniversary. Newly arrived from Milan in Italy, without any knowledge of the Danish language and with very poor knowledge of English, Søren Nielsen gave her a chance and employed her. In Italy, Roberta had performed the function of Freight Forwarding Agent in Milan Airport among other places and she soon proved to be a great asset to Blue Water. Today, Roberta is part of our administration in Odense and has managed to streamline and make procedures more efficient in various departments resulting in timely closing of files each month. She is also responsible for visiting our Italian clients, which has proved to be a great success. Roberta is married to Merete and their lovely little twins, Andrea and Carla, are also part of the family. June 2016

10th Jonas Ahmed

01.09.06–01.09.2016

Jonas Ahmed/Blue Water Odense will celebrate his 10th anniversary on 1.9. The first 7-8 years of his Blue Water career, Jonas formed part of the German/Benelux department as Freight Forwarder taking care of Micro Matic’s goods out of Kaunas, Lithuania where he was also stationed for a short period. Jonas is very hard-working, he never says no to a task and loves challenges. Furthermore, he is a linguistic genius – speaking Danish, English, Urdu and German – and he also drives just as fast as a native-born German. Today, Jonas is part of our TMS Project Group (Transport Management system) as Lead Road. Jonas is married to Sana and they have two sons. Being an early riser, Jonas often gets up at 3 or 4 in the morning to read or exercise. No. 113

On 21.9, Morten Schultz/Blue Water Ipswich will celebrate his 10th anniversary. In actual fact, this is Morten’s second spell at Blue Water. Having come over to Ipswich initially as a Trainee, he left the company and later on we persuaded him back to join the Blue Water family. Morten is a very important member of our team in Ipswich involved in the busy DK-UK-DK market and has a very good aptitude and flexibility to meeting our clients’ needs. Outside of work, Morten is busy with his family and has a keen interest in football both supporting his son playing locally on Saturday mornings and following the fortunes of Ipswich Town FC.

10th Christina Jensen

25.09.06–25.09.2016

On 25.9, Christina Jensen/Blue Water Kolding will celebrate her 10th anniversary. Over the years, Christina has performed the functions of Sales Secretary and Assistant for Key Accounts. Christina is extremely efficient and multitasking is one of her real big talents – maybe she invented it. She writes mails, works in excel and chats with the colleague sitting next to her at the same time. Everybody knows Christina for her open mind, loud voice and helpfulness which is equivalent in size to her curiosity. Everybody knows when Christina is in the office. She takes up a lot of space – in the good sense – and is a highly valued colleague. Christina is a true native of Funen and keeps an eye on the bridges across the Little Belt making sure she can get home quickly to her boyfriend, Kasper, in Odense with whom she shares a house.
