Satisfaction with magnificent result 2014 showed a significant growth in both turnover and profit in Blue Water Shipping who is reaping the returns across the organisation The significant growth continues for Blue Water, whose annual accounts for 2014 show an 11 percent increase in turnover and an increase of 80 percent on the bottom line compared to 2013. The turnover has increased by EUR 74 million and the total turnover for 2014 was EUR 669 m. ”We experience growth in all business segments and our growth exceeds the growth in the market. We are extraordinarily satisfied with the fact that approx. 80 per cent of our growth is organic, as it means that we are indeed reaping the fruits of our strengthened organisation. Our growth has not come automatically, but our 2014 focus was primarily to improve our result. We are therefore pleased that our position has been strengthened with additional market shares”, says Kim Hedegaard Sørensen, Managing Director in Blue Water Shipping.

We are in particular satisfied with the result of EUR 8.5 million which is a significant increase of 80 per cent compared to the result of EUR 4.7 million in 2013. The result for 2013 reflected increased investments in the organisation in preparation for the growth of the coming years whereas the 2014 result reflects the utilization of our strengthened set-up. ”The result of EUR 8.5 million is indeed satisfactory as it is above the budget and by far exceeds our latest result. Also, the result shows that we are on the right track in relation to our plans for improved

earnings performance through increased synergy and cooperation in the entire organisation. Therefore I expect that we in 2015 shall be able to deliver a result of minimum the same level. The results for the first months of 2015 show positive trends, but we also know that it takes a lot of hard work to achieve our goal“.

Value to the clients According to Kim Hedegaard Sørensen, the reason for Blue Water’s success is our strategy to be close to the clients – both in terms of geography and with regard to the understanding of the transport and logistics needs of our clients. “Blue Water’s 1,400 employees are working closely with our clients in order to create good solutions that give value to our clients. The employees are, due to our decentralised organisation, always in close contact with the clients and are experienced and familiar with both local and industrial objectives. This means that we are rather good at creating the right solutions instantly”. In connection with other major objectives for the next 1-2 years, it is important to increase our market shares in Norway, Sweden and Finland, where we in recent years have intensified our efforts through an increase in investments and acquisitions. The aim is in particular to win new clients within general Road, Sea and Air Freight. Furthermore, we have focus on the global development of our core business areas; Oil, Wind and Project Transport.

STATUS FROM MANAGEMENT

”Blue Water’s employees are working closely with the clients to create the right solutions”, says Managing Director Kim Hedegaard Sørensen.

Our employees make the difference Kurt Skov, Blue Water’s Founder and Chairman of the Board, are pleased with the improved result for 2014 compared to 2013. He points out that in the years to come, Blue Water shall maintain focus on improving the bottom line. And another important thing is to maintain the basic strategy and deve lopment. ” We have successfully changed from being a traditional transport company to becoming a knowledge-based organisation with a number of in-house competences covering beyond ordinary transport. This means that we can create tailor-made overall solutions for our clients’ transports and

logistics”, says Kurt Skov. Among other things, he mentions the development of our own IT systems - providing our clients with a full overview of their logistics flow and which can be integrated with the clients’ own systems – as being a decisive factor for the change. ”I also expect a good deve lopment of our Oil, Gas, Wind and Industrial project activities, for which we have built great expertise and obtained recognition in the global market. In this area, we cooperate with some of the world’s leading companies and our in-house competences and experience contribute to handling compre-

hensive and complex transport projects”. Last but not least, it is of great importance to Kurt Skov that the growing company maintains its identity and remains an attractive workplace for its employees. “The individual employees are the most important basis for our success. They are the ones who make a fantastic effort every day in order to provide the best service for our clients. As we in recent years have grown considerably in number of employees, we do our utmost to keep up our Kurt Skov, Founder and Chairman of Blue Water.

FL: Kasper Junge/Blue Water Esbjerg, Marc Cirici/Alstom, Angel Sanchez Morales and Amadeu Outeiro Barber/Blue Water Barcelona.

Visiting Alstom in Barcelona In April, we visited our good customer Alstom, at their Barcelona office and were warmly welcomed by Marc Cirici, Key Commodity Manager at Alstom. The meeting was set up in order to discuss how Blue Water and Alstom can develop their business together and to follow up on the ongoing tenders. We also took the opportunity to introduce Kasper Junge as the new Key Account Manager for our Alstom business within Blue Water. Today Blue Water is involved in Alstom’s projects in Finland, Denmark, France, Spain, China, Brazil and USA.

Combining knowledge from two industries Recenty, 29 Blue Water colleagues from all over the world participated in a combined development seminar for the Oil & Energy and the Wind divisions. The purpose was to create a stronger global sales force across the two industries. “The vision for our work is that we can and must help each other across the organisation. Our specialists in the global markets each have their own portion of valuable knowledge from their local markets, which we can use in our global set-up. The internal cooperation is a must

if we shall create development within both industries”, says Jacob Kjærgaard, who is Head of Global Business Development in Blue Water’s Wind division. The programme of the two-day seminar at the headquarters in Esbjerg included presentations from the different regions, practical exercises and knowledge sharing. One of the initiatives was a workshop focusing on how to use existing knowledge to build new activities. Also, time was allotted for social events, as they are an important part of the Blue Water culture.

China Goldwind Giant turbine to test centre Earlier this year, Siemens Wind Power introduced its largest wind turbine yet built. The new SWT 7.0 is based on existing technology from another turbine. Therefore, the turbine can skip many tests, however, it cannot escape a trip to the test centre in Østerild, Denmark. In this connection, the loading, shipping and discharging of the turbine were assigned to Blue Water - nearly 420 tons of cargo with the largest unit weighing 155 tons. The units were discharged by means of the combined lifting capacity of two large mobile cranes. The discharge was characterized by a good cooperation between the ship’s crew, crane operators, riggers and the haulier. This is our second transport to/from Hanstholm for Siemens Wind Power within the recent year. Last year, we shipped the predecessor, SWT 6.0, to Esbjerg.

In tough competition, Blue Water China was awarded the transport of 14 X 750KW turbines for China’s biggest wind turbine manufacturer Goldwind International Holdings (HK) Ltd. The transport went from the port of Tianjin, China to Marseille FOS in France. In the two tough bidding rounds, Blue Water China presented the best description of how we would handle the project and displayed a good understanding of the project.

“We always focus on the clients and how we can solve their logistics challenges in the best way possible. This philosophy is very valuable for both parties. We hope to gain an even larger share of the market in China where the wind industry is in progress. All our experiences will help us in developing our services for existing as well as new activities”, says Carol Liu, Sales Manager in Blue Water China. At the terminal in Tianjin, Blue Water’s stevedores received the turbines and unloaded them safely. The operation continued with inspecting the turbines and loading them on board the ship. Blue Water was also responsible for export customs declaration, insurance and of course the sea transportation. After two days of discharging, the turbines were safely handed over to the consignee in Marseille.

PORT SERVICES & AGENCY

Part of the development

Foundations for Baltic II JV Baltic II Foundations ( joint venture between Hochtief and Geosee) and Blue Water Lindo have cooperated on the project of shipping 41 jacket-type foundations from Lindo to the Baltic II wind farm in the Baltic Sea. “During the entire project, we have cooperated on the technical management and the operation of the barges and tug boats which were used for the transports. We also cooperated with a number of Danish ports which the barges called into for technical upgrading or when

the weather did not permit navigation to the installation area. We have used Blue Water’s international network to receive assistance from our colleagues in Copenhagen and Malmö”, says Kim Thygesen, who is in charge of the Lindo office. “The availability and assistance from Blue Water has been well appreciated throughout the project and has definitely contributed to speed up the load-outs of the jacket foundations”, says Lutz Stehmeier, Senior Site Manager, JV Baltic II Foundations.

Infrastructure cooperation in the Lolland-Falster area

In the Port of Hirtshals, a 250,000 m2 land expansion is in progress and a new cargo terminal is under construction. The terminal aims at relieving the pressure on the road network and is of great importance to the increasing cargo volumes in the port. Blue Water Hirtshals sees the expansion as a good initiative for further development. “In connection with the construction of the cargo terminal, Blue Water acted as agents for the bulk carriers “Dyna Bulk” and “Frakt Fjord” which have transported a total of 25,500 tons of crushed stone from Norway to the construction site. The terminal is expected to be completed in June”, says Bent Rasmussen, General Manager at Blue Water’s Hirtshals office.

Wind turbines to Holland

A new cooperation between Blue Water Shipping A/S, DSV Transport A/S, Bandholm Havn and Johs. Rasmussen Svebølle A/S ensures the most favourable transport solutions for rocks, crushed stone, gravel and other materials for infrastructure projects in the Lolland-Falster area. “With this cooperation, we are able to offer a large capacity of vessels for all types of assignments, own port facilities No. 109

with a unique location and flexible shipbroking and port-related services. Also, we have a large capacity of trucks at our disposal for these assignments. This gives our clients control of the entire logistics chain and one crucial advantage - one supplier, who coordinates all assignments”, says Niels Tolstrup, Head of Development at Blue Water.

The Dutch company Van Oord is in charge of the construction of the offshore wind farm Eneco Luchterduinen, which is located 23 kilometres off the coast of Zandvoort. The towers, nacelles and blades for the project are being loaded in Esbjerg on board Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel “Aeolus”. Blue Water acts as agent for the vessel and has stevedores on the quay to ensure that the loading operations will be carried out as planned. “In general, we are experiencing a great activity in the agency department in Esbjerg. This is among other things due to the many ships calling at the port because of the many ongoing projects close to the port”, says Klaus Odby, Port Agency Operations Manager. After completion, the offshore wind farm will consist of 43 3MW wind turbines which will generate enough green electricity to around 150,000 households. The transport time from the port of Esbjerg to the offshore wind farm is about 30 hours.

GENERAL CARGO

Export to Scandinavia Blue Water Bremen has sealed a transport agreement with Jackon GmbH Wismar for 2015 and 2016 including export from Poland to Finland and Sweden – 9,500 tons in total. Also, the contract covers transport of 11,000 tons of cargo to Norway which will be handled together with Nor Lines A/S, Stavanger. The transport to Sweden will be carried out in close cooperation with Blue Water Rodby. Jackon is a family owned company producing EPS (expandable polystyrene) with unique insulation properties.

Crew changes in Greenland Blue Water Billund chartered airplanes and handled the crew change for three vessels, owned by the Danish Armed Forces, in Greenland and the Faroes. The crews were flown from Copenhagen and Aalborg along with new supplies. Nicolai Nørgaard from Blue Water Billund was on board the flight to Greenland together with representatives from the Danish Armed Forces. The challenging weather

in Greenland and the Faroes requires experience from the pilots, but luckily Blue Water has good relations with airlines who can handle landing and take-off in the harsh conditions. The project also required knowledge on how to pack the supplies in accordance with the safety standards to protect the cargo optimally. The three vessels received both their crew and supplies according to plan.

Malaria protection Blue Water´s Aid & Relief team has supplied mosquito bed nets to 14 different destinations inside Vietnam. 79 containers were loaded in China and shipped through three different seaports in Vietnam. Niels Mikkelsen, Sea Freight Manager for Blue Water´s Aid & Relief Logistics team travelled to Vietnam to push the cargo through customs, secure the Proofs of Delivery (PODs) and to assist the Vietnam office in arranging the clearing, delivery and offloading into the warehouses. “Good planning, team-work and a lot of correspondence between the involved parties are required to ensure that these shipments reach the right destinations on time. The main challenge is the difficult customs procedures. That is why we often travel to the destination to acquire a knowledge of the local procedures”, says Johnny Mortensen, Head of Aid & Relief at Blue Water.

Promotion campaign Blue Water New York has handled the transport of 3 x 40’ containers from Yantian, China to New York for our client Maverick Industries Inc. The containers were carrying 2000 displays for cooking thermometers for a promotion campaign for a major retail department store. “Upon arrival, we transferred the goods to our warehouse were we assembled the displays, together with staff from Maverick, and secured them on pallets - each pallet holding eight displays. Then, all pallets where picked up for store delivery throughout the USA”, says Kelle Delle Fave, Sales Representative from Blue Water New York.

Ferrari on board The Amsterdam office received a somewhat special request from one of their good clients. Although the office has handled many different types of odd-sized cargo, this was something they had never seen before. They handled the transport of a vintage Ferrari sports car which was

to be airfreighted from Amsterdam to Houston. The car was delivered to Blue Water’s warehouse for inspection, prior to delivery to the airline. In the photo, Rene van der Spek, the warehouse supervisor, is seen next to the 50-year-old Ferrari before loading.

Positive impressions from Münich exhibition LEGO to African chools

FL: Björn E Jensen/Blue Water Sweden, Erkki Valtonen/Blue Water Finland, Søren Nielsen/ Blue Water Denmark, Tom Öhman and Janne Koivisto/both from Blue Water Finland, Carsten Olsen/Blue Water Denmark and Ville Sulonen/Blue Water Finland.

Blue Water Finland was part of the Fin nish pavilion at the Munich Transport & Logistics Exhibition. In addition, Blue Water representatives from Sweden and Denmark participated. Overall, the input from the exhibition and impression after the event are positive. We had plenty of

opportunities to meet our partners and subcontractors from other European countries. We also had very fruitful meetings and discussions with potential partners as well as shipping lines and air charter companies.

Nine pallets of LEGO bricks have been distributed to various schools in Zambia to stimulate and inspire the children and bring joy and laughter into their lives. The bricks were donated to PLAN Denmark, the Danish leg of PLAN International – a non-governmental organisation helping children all over the world. Blue Water was asked to secure the delivery, including customs clearance, and decided to donate part of the transport to PLAN Denmark. “Children in the schools in Africa are not always as fortunate as the children here in Scandinavia. The African children often have to walk or run many kilometres to school – if they are at all lucky enough to go to school. Often they will have to sit in the open, maybe without books, pencils or other educational material. The LEGO bricks will surely bring inspiration to the children and in Blue Water we are just happy to be part of bringing this joy to the kids in Africa”, says Johnny Mortensen, Head of Aid & Relief in Blue Water.

Strengthening network in Africa Lionel Guilbaud, from Blue Water Marseille, and Johnny Mortensen, from Blue Water Billund, Denmark have travelled in East Africa to streamline Blue Water’s local agency network and set-up. They met with local agents and partners in Djibouti, Mombasa, Nairobi, Dar-es-Salaam, and Maputo in Mozambique. “We need the strongest possible agency set-up to provide top-service for our clients”, says Lionel Guilbaud, Blue Water´s Oil & Energy Project Director from Marseille. Johnny Mortensen, Head of Aid & Relief Logistics, agrees. “It is always important to know about any changes in local procedures, routings and the latest news on accessible roads, airports, seaports etc. Having this knowledge, we will be able to provide guidance to our clients when shipping out cargo for the next aid project”, he says. Kitchens to Sweden In 2005, Blue Water Herning and Kvik (kit chen manufacturer) established a cooperation. In the beginning, with deliveries to one store in Finland and later on to two in Norway. Today, Blue Water handles delivery to stores in Finland, Norway, Spain, France and to 15 stores in Thailand. The tenth anniversary was ‘celebrated’ with Blue Water taking over the export to Sweden as well from 1 May. With its 20 stores, Sweden is one of Kvik’s largest export markets. “Blue Water’s philosophy of being close to their clients is of benefit to us. Their office in Herning is very close to us, which makes us feel important. We can contact them quickly if we have urgent issues and Blue Water will solve them. Also, it is important for us that our stores can rely on their deliveries arriving on time”, says Bruno Neergaard Meineche, who is Cargo Agent for Kvik.

MARINE LOGISTICS

MV ”Zaandam” in dry dock Zaida Pena and Thomas Jeppesen, both from Blue Water Miami, attended the Grand Bahamas Shipyard con struction in Freeport, Bahamas on board the Holland America Line vessel “Zaandam” on 23-24 April. MV “Zaandam” was

in dry dock from 19-29 April. A few weeks prior to the dry dock, Blue Water Miami shipped containers for the vessel’s construction through our Cruise & Marine Logistics Network agent Freeport Ship Services, who coordinated the delivery on board the vessel.

Dutch embassy visit in Miami Blue Water was recently invited to the Dutch Embassy in Miami, Florida for an informal dinner with the Dutch Consul. The occasion of the visit was the involvement of Blue Water Holland with the trade mission arranged by the Dutch Maritime Organisation in connection with Cruise Shipping Miami. The next day, the whole delegation of the trade mission visited our booth at the Cruise Shipping Miami

conference and we were invited to their conference room to give a presentation of Blue Water. The conference was as always well attended and for Blue Water Holland, it proved fruitful in the form of new Dutch contacts. Nathalie Olijslager-Jaarsma/Dutch Consul and Hans Busbroek/Blue Water Rotterdam.

Cruise Shipping Miami 2015 Again this year, Blue Water participated in the world’s biggest cruise exhibition, Cruise Shipping Miami, which took place from 17-19 March. “Over the years, we have built an extensive cruise network. As a privately

owned company, our clients benefit from our flexibility and short decisionmaking process. We choose our partners and agents carefully on the basis of our common wishes to provide personal and dedicated service to the clients. At Cruise

Shipping Miami we met existing as well as potential clients and talked about how we can contribute to solving their logistics challenges”, says Lisette Trab Munk, who is globally responsible for Blue Water’s Marine Logistics.

REEFER LOGISTICS

FL: Christelle Beuzit, Dominique Corbel and Marie Gricourt/all from Casco, Sebastien Ajavon/Comon/Cajaf, Fanny Turbin and Marylene Letoux/all from Casco.

Impressive celebration FL: Sol Park/Hallvard Lerøy and Jesper Nielsen/Blue Water Copenhagen had a good talk at the world’s largest seafood exhibition, Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, which was held in Brussels in April.

Leading in Denmark For the last three years, Blue Water has developed its air freight products further within perishables and today, we are the largest air freight forwarder mea sured on tonnage. Today, we have two

full-time employees in Denmark, solely focusing on seafood, meat, poultry and dairy products which are exported from the Danish Market.

Great development The reefer department at Blue Water’s office in Rotterdam can rightfully be proud of themselves. As a result of hard work, they managed to break their own record and in 2014, they have handled more than 20,000 TEUS of frozen products. “The volumes we have handled have increased almost every year since 2003. This development has intensified our demand for skilled employees and we have grown from 5 employees to 12. Our main

markets today are the Far East and Midd le East followed by Australia and South America. We also keep our focus on West Africa where the potential is good. It is a challenging market which is characte rised by very tough competition. But our dedicated staff have always been able to build good relations with our clients and they are never afraid of taking up a challenge”, says Hans Poiesz, General Manager of Blue Water Rotterdam.

For the last fifteen years, Blue Water Brest has handled weekly shipments of 40´reefer containers from Brest for Comon/Cajaf who is the biggest meat and fish importer in Benin, West Africa. As a result of the good working relationship, Fabrice Rolland from Blue Water Brest was invited to participate in the 50th birthday festivities of the owner of the company, Sebastien Ajavon and his wife. The party was held in Cotonou during a weekend and included performances by different international artists, a catholic celebration with more than 1,000 guests as well as food and wine of the best quality. Monday, it was time to visit Mr. Ajavon’s industrial site in Geffa, where an average of 150 x 40´ reefer containers of frozen meat arrive each week. The capacity of the cold store facilities in Geffa is 32000 tons frozen cargo and the facilities also include customs and sanitary administration – truly an impressive visit.

OIL, GAS & PROJECTS

New project for Maersk Drilling Maersk Drilling has chosen Blue Water to handle transportation and related assignments for a future yard stay for their semi-submersible rig “Maersk Deliverer” in connection with its five-year special periodical survey. Previously, Blue Water has provided transport and logistics services for similar assignments. “It makes us proud to receive recognition for our efforts from one of the biggest

players in the oil and gas industry”, says Thomas Bek, Global Head of Oil, Gas and Industrial Projects at Blue Water. The yard stay project will be carried out in South Africa from July until the end of August, where Blue Water will be responsible for all transport-related assignments, warehousing and quayside crane operations. The project will involve many of Blue Water’s worldwide offices

in arranging a large number of very crucial and time-sensitive shipments by air and ocean. “Our experience is important as these types of projects are complex. When coordinating the transports of spare parts and other services in connection with yard stays for these rigs, there is no room for errors”, says Thomas Bek.

Major project in North America After 18 months of development and planning, Blue Water Houston has executed a transport related to the major Sasol project in Louisiana. The Sasol project - of making diesel out of natural gas - is one of the largest projects ever funded in North America. Blue Water Houston successfully planned and managed the transport of all of the condenser packages, weighing 114 tons, from a manufacturer in New York to a storage facility in Houston

for our good customer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Blue Water Houston managed the offload from goods waggons utilizing a 650 ton crane. We are responsible for the longterm storage and has other packages arriving during the coming months, also related to the project. Blue Water’s Field Services personnel were onsite in both New York and Houston, ensuring a safe operation of the highest quality.

OIL, GAS & PROJECTS

New agreement with NOV Blue Water and National Oilwell Varco Denmark (NOV) have agreed to a new contract and renegotiated an existing. “We have awarded Blue Water Shipping the contract for import from France. Also, we have decided to maintain our cooperation on import and export to/ from UK as well as import from Germany. This has mainly been decided because of the good service and cooperativeness that Blue Water provides”, says Jesper Jensen from NOV. Flexibility and fast reactions to the urgent inquiries from NOV makes Blue Water an attractive partner. “Blue Water has gained a comprehensive knowledge about our company and suppliers. We often have a tight production schedule and therefore we often have urgent shipments. In these situations, it is important for us to have a solutionoriented and flexible partner just like Blue

Water. We appreciate this very much”, says Jesper Jensen from NOV. Blue Water shares the enthusiasm for the cooperation. “We constantly develop our products so they are adapted to our clients’ needs in the best way possible. We know how important it is, that we are flexible and ready to act whenever needed”, says Lars Tue Toftild, who is General Manager for Blue Water Copenhagen. National Oilwell Varco Denmark is owned by National Oilwell Varco Inc., who is one of the major players in the oil and gas industry.

Safe operation in Singapore Blue Water Singapore was in charge of the discharge operations of six sections for a derrick equipment set (DES) to be used on a drilling rig. As Blue Water’s naval architect and operations manager visited the site for the discharging operations, they found that the quay had poor mooring facilities. Therefore, a spud barge was chartered and secured in position so the vessel could be safely moored alongside the barge and get ready for the discharging. Because of the distance to the shore, it was necessary to use a floating crane. In close cooperation between all people involved in the project, the safety concerns were addressed with a toolbox talk prior to the start of the operation. The muddy conditions caused by the rainy season and the tide conditions were further challenges which we had to take precautions against. The discharging operations were completed in very short time. There was no room for errors and the project was completed to the great satisfaction of our client. No. 109

Mining equipment In the south-western part of Greenland, Blue Water will handle all transport of equipment for the construction of a ruby and sapphire mine in Aappaluttoq. True North Gems is constructing the mine and production is expected to start at the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016. Part of the extraction will take place near the mine and production facilities will be built in Nuuk. Therefore most of the production equipment, including crew modules and other elements, will be shipped to Nuuk and the remaining cargo will be shipped to the mine. The volumes are expected to be around 30 or 40 containers. In addition, various special assignments with large modules and air freight will follow. Blue Water has been chosen for this project because of our great experience in Greenland. Also, it was pointed out during the selection that it is important that we show great local commitment and use local manpower.

BLUE WATER CORPORATE

Changes in Dubai After more than 11 years at the helm of Blue Water’s office in Dubai, Claus Laursen wished to become more involved in business development within Oil, Gas & Industrial Projects in the Middle East and the Caspian region. A replacement for Claus has been found internally, as Arne Iversen took over the position of General Manager in Dubai as from 15 February. Claus is now installed in his new job which he performs in close cooperation with Thomas Bek in Esbjerg, the Global Head of Blue Water’s Oil, Energy & Industrial Projects, and the local management in the region. Arne originally took part in the establishment of our office in Dubai back in 1991, and he was the General Manager there until 2001. He was also stationed in Dubai from 2003-2005. Since June 2014, Arne has been located in Dubai, doing business support for a number of offices in the region - and is now back in Dubai for good.

Ready for certification Kim Beier and Heidi Berntsen from Group HSSEQ, Esbjerg visited our Baku office in February. The purpose was to give training to our colleagues and prepare them for the forthcoming certifications within Qua

lity (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001), which will make them part of the global certifications. All participating employees passed the training test and received their diplomas.

cooperation, Blue Water Copenhagen was invited to participate in a football tournament in Copenhagen. The purpose of the arrangement was to improve relations and the mutual understanding among different social groups through the joy of football and the unity it carries. A central

element in FANT is the establishment of sports associations where leaders and members will learn about democratic principles. Through these sports associations, FANT strives to develop and educate leaders and improve the status of women in Sierra Leone.

Easter bunny visit

The world’s toughest bicycle race

FL: Bjarne Christiansen/Blue Water, Jeanne Eriksen/HWF, Rene L. Rasmussen, Niels B Wester, Christian Sussemiehl and Emil Hansen/all from Blue Water. Lying down: Nicolai Mariegaard/HWF.

A few weeks before Easter, Blue Water Billund received a teaser letter. According to tradition, the recipient will get an Easter egg if he or she can guess who sent the letter. If the recipient cannot guess who sent the letter, the sender will get an easter egg from the recipient. However, Blue Water Billund guessed the sender to be one of their suppliers, HWF. Therefore, Nicolai and Jeanne from HWF visited Blue Water Billund to give our colleagues their Easter egg.

Service car to Paris

Race Across America (RAAM) is a 3,000 miles coast-to-coast race across the USA. RAAM is widely recognized as the world’s toughest endurance bicycle race and is open to solo racers as well as 2,4 and 8-person teams. Anders Tesgaard, a teacher living in Esbjerg, will participate in this year’s RAAM, which will start on 16 June. It will be his third time and he hopes to break his own record and end in top three.

Blue Water has agreed to sponsor Anders and in this connections, we hosted an event with him giving a presentation on RAAM - and his life as a participant in the race and the hardships involved - for a large attendance of representatives from Blue Water as well as from his other sponsors. We look forward to following Anders on his big adventure and wish him good luck and a fair wind.

Art in Greenland Leif Sørensen, who owns a local contracting company and mortar mill is a good client of Blue Water’s agency departments in Aalborg and Frederikshavn. This year, he will participate in Team Rynkeby (a national cycling team) with his own car, which will function as a service vehicle for the team and has been decorated with the logos of the sponsors. Blue Water is among the sponsors and Ole Bøgh Ulriksen from Blue Water Aalborg, who participated in the charity bike ride to Paris last year, has this year devoted his time to gather sponsors. Royal Greenland, JM Sikring and Aalborg Stevedore Company A/S are among the sponsors. The collected money goes to the Children’s Cancer Foundation in full.

Blue Water Greenland has sponsored a logistics solution for an exhibition with the purpose of creating awareness about women’s breast cancer. The exhibition is called ‘My Breast’ and reached Greenland in February. The purpose is to create a work of art made up of 1,300 casts of women’s breasts. Blue Water was assigned to transport the casting equipment from Denmark to Greenland and later on transport the completed casts back to Denmark. “It was great that Blue Water decided to support my project because it is dependent on companies who want to help”, says Helle Høvelskov, the founder of ‘My Breast’.

Good for the cooperation

FL: Kenneth Falkesgaard, Kim Hedegaard Sørensen and Thomas Bek/all from Blue Water Esbjerg.

Marathon in Copenhagen It is no exaggeration to say, that Blue Water’s employees are fond of running. In May, Kenneth Falkesgaard, Kim Hedegaard Sørensen and Thomas Bek participated in the Copenhagen Marathon. The three tough guys completed the 42 km race through the streets of Copenhagen in nice weather along with nearly 12,000 other

runners. Along the route, the spectators cheered eagerly and some even danced samba in the streets as the marathon coincided with the Whitsun carnival. Earlier in May, Blue Water also participated with around 15 runners in the Little Belt Half Marathon.

The canteen at Blue Water Copenhagen was filled with 30 invited clients on an evening in March. After dining together, the crowd continued to the local theatre to see a show. “It was a fine evening with great food and entertainment. When Blue Water sets up an event like this, we have the opportunity to get to know each other in a different way. In my opinion, it strengthens our cooperation”, says Anita Johansen from GOSH Cosmetics, who participated in the event. It was a great evening and everybody had fun.

Old golf clubs prove useful Glad’s House is an English/Kenyan development organisation which helps the street children and young people in Mombasa, Africa to a better life by providing food and schooling. The organisation has created an innovative caddie education programme in cooperation with Vipingo Ridge Golf Resort. So far, 44 young people have been trained as caddies and have consequently escaped a life of poverty and crime.

When the project was introduced to the members of Golf Club Odense, they showed great support and interest for helping. The members donated approx. 1,000 irons and clubs, 35 bags as well as clothes, shoes and golf balls. Blue Water donated their expertise, time and the transport from Odense to England, where Glad’s House have their headquarters. From here, the equipment will be transported to the golf resort in Mombasa.

Defending champions Christopher Jessen (left) and Ken Poulsen from Blue Water Aarhus were on a mission to defend their title as reigning badminton champions in Favrskov near Aarhus. To win the title again, the two guys had to go through preliminary rounds and four knockout matches. The tournament was well planned and everybody enjoyed the day.

60th birthday The golf equipment is being picked up at Golf Club Odense.

Bjarne Christiansen from Blue Water Billund turned 60 on 1.4. His colleagues marked the occasion at the office by serving breakfast rolls and Danish pastry. As Bjarne, among the locals, is called “the Mayor“, he was naturally presented with the Lord Mayor’s Chain in honour of the occasion.

Jubilees 30th Henrik Miche Pedersen

01.07.85–01.07.15

Henrik Miche Pedersen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 30th anniversary on 1.7. Miche (for short) served his apprenticeship at Knud Sørensen Shipping which was soon after taken over by Blue Water. Henrik’s competences at that time were related to shipbroking and agency, but in Blue Water, he changed track and has since focused on freight forwarding. Henrik has been involved in various activities among others the development of our road services on France, Spain, Portugal and Poland, where he for many years was business development and department manager. In addition, he was head of our then existing Warsaw office. Today Henrik is responsible for the traffics to the abovementioned countries and coordinator in the group of traffic managers. He is also in-house key account for Færch Plast. Numeracy has never been one of Henrik’s strong points. When he buys Danish pastry to his colleagues, he always buys seven pieces even though his department numbers 11 colleagues. Luckily, he is not part of the accounts team. Henrik is married to Mona and they have two big children, Anders and Emilie. Henrik is a very active person - also after office hours - and uses his trainers frequently.

Silver Bob Tiserand

01.07.90-01.07.15

Bob Tisserand/Blue Water Amsterdam will celebrate his silver anniversary on 1.7. Bob is the manager of Blue Water’s air freight office, located in Schiphol Airport, which he started 25 years ago together with René van der Spek. Today the team numbers nine colleagues. The basis for establishing the office was our various projects including livestock transport – especially horses and the occasional circus No. 109

bears – as well as fresh salmon from the Faroe Islands etc. Bob is totally into air. He has collected a wide range of miniature airplanes together with his colleagues. They cover an entire wall of the office’s conference room. At home, Bob has a PC program where he can simulate being a pilot. He is also a member of Crash - an air war and resistance museum at Rijsenhout. Another hobby of Bob’s is model ships which he builds from a picture by making the parts etc. himself. In the old days, Bob used to surf and play volleyball, but that is a long time ago. Bob enjoys spending his free time with his family – wife Cora and son and daughter - in their new summer house in Zeeland (Netherland’s Côte d’Azur). Bob is a walking encyclopedia, whose knowledge ranges from single malt whisky to ISO certification.

Silver Nick Thomsen Pedersen

15.08.90-15.08.15

On 15.8, Nick Thomsen Pedersen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his silver anniversary. Nick served his apprenticeship with Donau Express in Vojens. When Blue Water, after many years of close cooperation, acquired Donau Express, Nick decided to move to Esbjerg to continue his career in Blue Water. As Nick has always been involved in food transport to Eastern Europe (the new EU countries), he is an expert within this field. Nick is a very competent old school freight forwarder who does not like changes in procedures. In recent years, Nick is travelling at a good speed. He has bought a motorbike and is a frequent guest in the local MC club and often participates in the club excursions. Nick is a fantastic colleague, always helpful, kind and generous – he will never let one of his colleagues down. Nick is very picky about what he eats. He avoids healthy food and we seldom see vegetables on his plate. The worst thing that could happen to Nick was if he became allergic to paper, as he takes prints of everything to be filed in his own special

system. Nick lives in Gørding and has two stepchildren, whom he enjoys spending time with.

20th Trine Andersen

01.07.95-01.07.15

Trine Andersen/Blue Water Aarhus will celebrate her 20th anniversary on 1.7. Trine originally started as trainee in the deep sea department at our head office. Having completed her apprenticeship, Trine moved closer to her home town, more precisely to new challenges within sea freight export at the Aarhus office. And not least closer to her boyfriend, Michael who is in the military, and to whom she is now happily married. Today, Trine performs the function of sea freight coordinator with many competences. She is a “company woman”, very meticulous, diligent and solution-oriented. Trine is also a very outgoing girl, who always has a ready answer and talks a lot. Furthermore, she has a mind of her own. Trine and Michael have three children, two girls and a boy. Trine is a family person and lives next door to one of her sisters and they enjoy each other’s company. When she is off duty, Trine is a “trader”. She sells and buys stuff, e.g. her children’s toys, through a “Buy & Sell magazine – and she always makes sure she gets the best (selling as well as buying) price.

20th Mavis Pinto

01.07.95-01.07.15

Mavis Pinto/Blue Water Dubai will ce lebrate her 20th anniversary on 1.7. Mavis originally started as a receptionist as well as assisting in accounts at the Dubai office. Showing great interest in the operation, she soon took on new challenges in the sea freight department. In the early days, Mavis did mainly documentation work, but has now gathered a lot of knowledge 19

HUMAN RESOURCES

Jubilees about shipping and the local markets and performs the function of assistant shipping manager. Together with Vishal, Mavis is now behind most of our export business with special focus on aid & relief, out-of-gauge cargo and vehicles. Due to her experience in the region and her strong focus on customer service and tailor-made solutions, Mavis is highly respected with our customers and within the office. Mavis is a breath of fresh air and fun to work with, most of the time, as she loves to keep her colleagues happy. Sometimes they take a timeout and listen to music in the office. Mavis’ hobbies include cooking, gardening, music and watching movies. She is a family person and loves spending time with her family consisting of her husband and son, Neil, who is 13 years old.

20th Jesper Frølich Kassow

01.08.95-01.08.15

On 1.8, Jesper Frølich Kassow/Blue Water Aalborg will celebrate his 20th anniversary. Having served his apprenticeship as a freight forwarder in Aarhus, Jesper started his Blue Water career at our Aalborg office. Here, deep sea shipping soon aroused his interest and for a number of years, Jesper was in charge of this activity until we found out that he actually spent more time talking to the clients than booking cargo. Then we decided to assign a new role to him in our sales team where he is in his right element. He is on the move all the time, knows a lot of people – and is a successful salesman. Jesper loves spending time with his family – his two daughters, Ida Marie and Anna, and his girlfriend, Carina, whom he is going to marry in June – and they are expecting an increase this autumn. Jesper was for many years a passionate badminton player, but has now scaled down to a more modest level – and is also doing fitness and running. However, he still has plenty of time to share with his family and large circle of friends.

20

10th Danni Olling Sørensen

Jacob also finds time to play some golf in the summertime and occasionally watch an ice hockey match in the winter season. Jacob is well-known for his wry humour and his bent towards dry and smoked whisky.

20.06.05–20.06.15

Danni Olling Sørensen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 10th anniversary on 20.6. Danni originally started as office messenger, but the job soon developed into a regular driver’s job. During his workday, Danni is always on the move. He is a well-known face with the clients in the local area. He prefers to make his own route plan as we, the office people, have no sense of “the real world”! Danni is diligent and definitely a methodical person who always keeps his rolling office neat and clean. He is very punctual and hates delays. One can set the clock by Danni, always arriving on the dot. He cannot possibly be sensitive to cold as he is wearing Blue Water shorts from the early spring until October/November. In keeping with Blue Water tradition, Danni supports EfB (Esbjerg Football Club). He watches their home matches – and some of their away matches – and the team’s performance is often discussed with both clients and colleagues. Danni lives together with his girlfriend, Lilian, and is a family man who helps his elder relatives doing their shopping. Danni loves a drink on his balcony and his favou rite holiday destination is Bulgaria.

10th Jacob Lützhøft

27.06.05-27.06.15

Jacob Lützhøft/Blue Water Herning will celebrate his 10th anniversary on 27.6. Jacob originally started in our East European department in Herning, but is now part of our local key account team servicing clients with different needs. Jacob is as such taking good care of Siemens, Kvik and Titan Containers for whom (the lastmentioned) we have a depot in Herning. In addition to servicing his children in connection with their football activities,

10th Kasper Nielsen

27.06.05-27.06.15

Kasper Nielsen/Blue Water Esbjerg/Copenhagen joined our Copenhagen office as trainee on 1.7.2005. As Kasper, after his apprenticeship, was looking for new challenges, he exchanged the smell of diesel oil for jet fuel as he moved to the air freight department to be in charge of import air freight and courier. In those days, it was just a small department, but under Kasper’s wings, the team grew fast. Kasper is extremely competent, VERY organised and immensely well-liked by both clients and colleagues. Kasper is well-known for his boyish looks, which have resulted in various funny incidents with both clients and colleagues. A client once called him “ just a boy”, but still Kasper managed to win the contract. Today Kasper is based in both Copenhagen and Esbjerg and bears the title of Management Assistant. This means that Management is now profiting by Kasper’s many competences. When the wind is blowing, kitesurfing is on the programme. Kasper has also been skipper on his own boat, but as far as we know, it was no success. However, Kasper’s greatest interest is his family. He and his fiancée, Christina, are going to get married in July and they have a lovely daughter, Filippa, who is two years old.

10th Mads A. Paugan Jensen

01.07.05-01.07.15

On 1.7, Mads A. Paugan Jensen/Blue Water Billund will celebrate his 10th anniversary. Mads started as a trainee in June 2015

Jubilees our courier team. Rumour has it that he talked so much at the job interview that we simply employed him just to stop him talking. Mads has always been involved in air freight and courier. He became ma nager for import air freight and courier and then changed to the cross-functional role as Nordic responsible for courier and key account manager in Billund. Mads is characterised by his great commitment, persistence and temper (in the good sense). But first and foremost, he is a good colleague, always ready to lend a helping hand. Therefore, he is highly appreciated by his colleagues as well as by our suppliers and customers. Mads is also a very important factor in respect of social events and our culture. Mads lives in Kolding with his partner, Sanne, and is the proud father of Noah. Mads is an enthusiastic handball supporter who follows KIF Copenhagen. In his opinion, his own talents for handball and football used to be excellent. Nowadays, he is mostly watching from the stands.

10th Mette Kelstrup Madsen

01.07.05-01.07.15

On 1.7, Mette Kelstrup Madsen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary. Mette started as trainee in road transport at the Kolding office. In her second year of apprenticeship, Mette was transferred to the export department at Blue Water’s air freight office in Billund. Eager to learn new things and very competent, she progressed to day-to-day manager of this department. As a superuser, Mette has always taken an interest in our IT systems and in 2014, she was “headhunted” by IT Consulting, Esbjerg to a job as IT coordinator. Here, she soon became involved in our TMS project (Transport Management System) as air freight specialist. Mette is very dedicated, organised and has everything under control. And when there is a party going on, she is also very entertaining. Mette is married to Anders, who is a professional chef, and the couple is very interested in good cooking. Their daughter, Ida-Marie, was born in December 2014. No. 109

At present, Mette enjoys her maternity leave and we look forward to welcoming her back sometime this summer.

01.07.05-01.07.15

On 1.7, Jesper Skjoldborg Øraker/Blue Water Nuuk will celebrate his 10th anniversary. Jesper originally started as trainee at the office in Copenhagen. In 2009, after a short period at our Billund office, he moved on to new challenges in Greenland, more precisely at the office in Nuuk. In 2010, Jesper was transferred to Blue Water New York. Last autumn, however, Jesper and his family decided that it was time to leave the rat race in New York and he signed a job contract to become head of the office in “the slightly smaller city”, Nuuk, with its spectacular scenery and tranquility. Before his Blue Water career, Jesper lived in Australia for six months in connection with his Copenhagen business education programme. And no, he did not meet his girlfriend, Laura, there, he met her at a housewarming in Copenhagen. She has faithfully accompanied him on his circular tour from Denmark to Greenland, to the USA and now back to Greenland. They got married four years ago and have a little son, Johan Marius, and are expecting another happy event this summer. Jesper dedicates his spare time to his family and friends whom he likes to spoil with his delicious home baking.

10th Ulla Øllgaard

01.08.05-01.08.15

Ulla Øllgaard/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.8. Ten years ago, we received a job application describing the qualities: presentable, positive, loyal, service-minded, having a can-do spirit and a sense of humour and likes being challenged linguistically

in a busy and international environment. By employing Ulla, we enjoy the benefits of these qualities every day. The profile is still the same, always with a positive approach to the job and a smile on the phone. Ulla keeps track of our company cars and conference facilities and all the other duties of the reception –including keeping track of all her colleagues at the headquarters. Now and then, Ulla even keeps check of more calendars than her own. Always with the client in focus, she provides an extra service to her colleagues in a busy workday. Ulla often goes to Fort Lauderdale to spend her holiday with her son Rasmus. If she can combine her holiday with a ticket to a tennis tournament, she is really happy. Going on a cruise is her preferred mode of travel and this year, Ulla faced a big challenge as she had to climb through a steep waterfall on one of the holiday islands. Ulla is in charge of the daily duties of the reception and sets the standard for the customer service at the switchboard and front desk. Being a real language geek, she also masters the English and German language.

10th Kenneth Højer Pedersen

01.08.05-01.08.15

Kenneth Højer Pedersen/Blue Water Aalborg will be celebrating his 10th anniversary on 1.8. Having completed his traineeship at our terminal in Aalborg, there was no doubt that Kenneth should remain part of our terminal team. Today, Kenneth is responsible for the packing of our containers to Nuuk, Greenland. In busy periods, Kenneth is always willing to lend a helping hand when there is a need for weekend assistance. He is very dedicated and takes pride in handling any job to the utmost satisfaction. Kenneth lives in a suburb of Aalborg together with Camilla, who is a school teacher. Their relationship is highly appreciated by all of his colleagues as Camilla has a brilliant baking talent. In his free time, Kenneth plays badminton and is now also training for a half marathon together with a number of his 21

Jubilees colleagues from the office in Aalborg. When there is a car race at the famous Danish racing track, Jyllandsringen, you will more than likely find Kenneth and his brother there.

10th Anica Henningsen

01.08.05-01.08.15

Anica Henningsen/Blue Water Odense started as trainee in Odense on 1.8.2005. During the years, she has regularly moved on to new challenges and has therefore formed part of various departments including accounts, customs and tender. However, she has now settled down as sales support for Ronald Hansen – maybe her biggest challenge so far. Anica is fond of travelling and when she has set her mind on a destination, she goes all in until she has saved enough money to fulfil her dream. This means periods with extra jobs. She is for sure an all-rounder. Anica’s determination has taken her far and wide – from Gran Canaria, Spain to doing voluntary work at an orphanage in Guatemala and power shopping in New York. Anica spends a lot of time keeping fit. Weight training and protein shakes are a natural part of everyday life for Anica. It is almost impossible to lead her astray. Only, when there is a party on the agenda, she will let her hair down.

10th Jesper Nielsen

01.08.05-01.08.15

On 1.8, Jesper Nielsen/Blue Water Copenhagen has formed part of our Copenhagen team for 10 years. First as manager of the North Atlantic department air & sea where he, due to his strong qualifications in air freight, soon became involved in the development of the activity at an overall level. In recent years, Jesper has performed the function of business development manager for air freight in the 22

Nordic countries and is the driving force behind our great success with air freight of fresh fish to worldwide destinations. Jesper is a good and helpful colleague, who gladly offers sparring and challenges, which helps raising our level. He will do (almost) anything to fulfil the clients’ needs. Jesper is very committed, diligent and competent. Jesper is a single parent of two boys, who are everything to him. When it comes to football, he is a great Chelsea supporter. Jesper is also a party animal. When he once around Easter hosted a party for the colleagues of his department, it ended in a solid egg fight. What was supposed to be an obstacle race, with each participant carrying an egg on a spoon in his/her mouth, ended in an egg throwing competition instead.

10th Sanne Sønderup Tholstrup

01.08.05-01.08.15

Sanne Sønderup Tholstrup/Blue Water Copenhagen will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.8. Sanne completed her apprenticeship in key accounts and sea freight in Aalborg in 2007. However, she missed life in the big city and moved on to new challenges in Copenhagen. Here, Sanne joined our sea freight team, moved on to courier and after her first maternity leave, it was time to try her skills in the North Atlantic department, which she is still part of. Sanne is a real workhorse and everything is absolutely under control when she has set her mind on doing a job. Shortly after her return to Sealand, Sanne met her husband, Jens, and determined as they were to sink roots out in the country, they bought a farmhouse. They also have two daughters and are waiting for the in-laws to move over from Jutland. They have already bought and paid for the adjoining site. When she worked in Aalborg, Sanne started spoiling her colleagues with delicious pancakes. In Copenhagen, her delicacies have almost reached the standard of a confectioner. Sanne’s colleagues highly appreciate her experiments of creating

new and delicious cakes and they look forward to welcoming her back from her second maternity leave.

10th Arne Iversen

01.08.05-01.08.15

On 1.8, Arne Iversen/Blue Water Dubai will celebrate his 10th anniversary. In fact, it could have been 35 years, if not for a couple of detours outside Blue Water. Arne was employed as a freight forwarder at our Esbjerg office in 1980 and later on, he took over the responsibility for the exhibition department. After nine years of developing this activity, he accepted a posting in Cameroun, Africa in 1989. In 1991, Arne returned to Blue Water and the start-up of our office in Dubai. After ten years in Dubai, Arne made another detour outside Blue Water, but returned in 2005 to become in charge of our activities in China and then also in Doha. In 2012, Arne wished to return to Esbjerg to spend more time with his child ren, Daniel and Laura. After two years in Esbjerg as responsible for the development of our short sea activities, Arne longed to go abroad again and accepted the challenge of becoming global business developer, spending his time in China, Doha, Dubai and Houston. In March this year, Arne returned to Dubai as general manager of our office. In his spare time, Arne also works for Blue Water, if he is not talked into playing golf or tennis. Naturally, he also spends time with his children in Denmark or they come to visit him “somewhere in the world”.

10th Lars Jedermann Jørgensen

01.08.05-01.08.15

Jubilees ters. He was later transferred to the O & E department, also in Esbjerg. This was such a perfect match that Lars remained part of this department until he in 2008 accepted a posting at our Houston office – also concentrating on O & E. In November 2014, Lars moved on to new challenges at our office in Chicago with focus on procurement and development of the office together with Bonney Bailey and the other colleagues. After six and a half years in the US, Lars is looking for new challenges in Blue Water Denmark. Lars has always been a very good sportsman and during his years in the US, he spent his free time developing handball as well as acting as a handball referee. He is so good at this job that he as a referee will take part in the U21 World Cup for men in Brazil in July 2015. This might be a splendid promotional opportunity?

10th Jørgen Pilgaard

01.08.05-01.08.15

Jørgen Pilgaard/Blue Water Hirtshals will be celebrating his 10th anniversary on 1.8. Ten years ago, Jørgen started working for Smyril Blue Water at the warehouse in Hanstholm. In 2009, however, Jørgen was transferred to the warehouse in Esbjerg when Smyril Line changed its port of call in Denmark, from Hanstholm to Esbjerg. Since October 2010 - when Smyril Line once again changed port of call, this time to Hirtshals – Jørgen has formed part of the warehouse team in Hirtshals and been acting as stevedore on board the Smyril Line vessels from the Faroes and Iceland. Jørgen has an all-round career, as he in the past has been employed in both office jobs and as a truck driver Jørgen lives in Sundby together with Dorthe and has two sons, Claus and Jesper. Jørgen is an all-rounder who has everything under control. He takes pride in doing his duties correctly – which he most often does. From time to time, however, we can har him grunting loudly, but we presume this is mainly due to one of his colleagues making a mistake!

No. 109

10th Tina Vinfeld

01.09.05-01.09.15

Tina Vinfeld/Blue Water Aalborg will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.9. Tina started her Blue Water career in the administration department in Aalborg and is now in charge of administration and accounts. Tina has a fantastic ability to remain calm and perform under challenging conditions, she is organised and ALWAYS one step ahead. Tina’s family includes her husband, Arne, and their daughters, Sofie aged twelve and Julie aged seven, who mean everything to her. The whole family loves watching ice hockey, especially when Aalborg Pirates are playing, as well as watching football at Aalborg Stadium. Both daughters are playing football in the local football club and Tina has of course volunteered to coach a team of lively seven-year-old girls. In Tina’s home, there is always room for a couple of extra children. We often hear that she has arranged a bonfire in her garden or some other event and invited an entire class or all the children from the neighbourhood.

10th Michael Poder

01.09.05-01.09.15

On 1.9, Michael Poder/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 10th anniversary. In 2005, Michael was employed as manager of the UK/Ireland department in Esbjerg combined with the role as development manager for the traffic to/from UK/Ireland. In 2007, he went across the sea to a job as general manager for our Manchester office while remaining responsible for the department in Esbjerg. Some years later, Michael returned (partially) home, based for a period in both Denmark and Manchester before he again became a Dane, full time, as manager of UK/Ireland and the parcel group. In addition, Michael

remained in charge of the General Cargo activities in UK and Ireland. Since last year, Michael has filled the new position of general manager road for General Cargo. Optimisation and innovation are some of Michael’s main competences. He is often a step ahead of the colleagues, clients and suppliers, when looking for solutions to complex issues, and sees possibilities where others give up. Everybody has weaknesses and some will say that Michael may be difficult to find when he is needed. Summoning meetings at short notice is the solution as he will then (most often) show up on time. The IT department is working on a GPS to Michael which will make things a lot easier. Michael is always ready for sports activities and a party, time permitting, and on the home front, he is the proud father of three children.

10th Scott Brand

01.09.05-01.09.15

On 5.9, Scott Brand/Blue Water Aberdeen will celebrate his 10th anniversary. Scott started his Blue Water career in general operations involved in export and import. This was his first forwarding job, but as he had previously worked for a cargo handler at Aberdeen Airport, he already had some experience with air cargo. Scott progressed to senior ops and was in 2014 promoted to operations manager. Scott’s predominant hobby is football and he is an enthusiastic Aberdeen & Li verpool fan. He is very passionate about Aberdeen Football Club and goes to every home match, no matter the weather. He has supported the team through some very bad times and recently, in a bit of a resurgence, watched them winning their first trophy in 19 years and qualifying for Europe again this year. As far as food is concerned, Scott is not very keen on curries and pizza. Until a couple of years ago, he had not even tried a pizza. He does, however, appreciate a good burger from the local van. Scott is married to Stacy and has two daughters, Madison and Hayden.

CLIENT SURVEY

The clients are very satisfied According to Blue Water’s latest client survey, high quality and competent employees create a high level of satisfaction from the clients The result of a new survey among Blue Water’s clients shows a very high level of satisfaction with the company’s services and its employees. More than nine out of ten participants are overall satisfied or very satisfied with Blue Water. “In our daily work, we are in close dialogue with the clients and consequently we have a feeling of the cooperation. But through the annual survey, we get a full and comprehensive view of the clients’ evaluation of the different aspects of our cooperation and the service we deliver”, says Jan Hjortlund Hansen, Marketing Manager at Blue Water. Our customers express in particular great satisfaction with the quality of Blue

Water’s service and with the competences of our employees. To these two issues, 90 per cent have answered that they are satisfied or very satisfied. We get a bit lower – however still pretty good – score for providing flexible solutions and for acting proactively.

Service of high quality “We are pleased and proud of the fine results – in particular in respect of high service and competent employees as these qualities are essential for us. At the same time, we are well aware that there are things that we can do better and this is exactly what the survey is about, that we get a concrete answer to

how we can improve ourselves”. On the basis of the survey, we will look into the questions with the lowest score for Service, Operation, Client Contact as well as Procedures. In this way, we will find improvements and optimisation to help strengthen Blue Water. “The transport industry is a competitive line of business and from the clients’ answers, we can see that we in most cases do a better or just as good a job as our competitors. This proves that we provide the service and quality that we have promised our clients. Also, we are proud to see that 87 per cent of the clients experience that our service surpasses their expectations”, says Jan Hjortlund Hansen.
