Moving to Taulov The construction of Blue Water’s large cargo terminal at Taulov in Fredericia, Denmark is completed We have finally moved into our new ultramodern cargo terminal in Taulov. For one year, we have been waiting eagerly to inaugurate the crossdocking terminal and office facilities which will be the future workplace of 63 employees. The new large terminal will become the centre of our European road traffics. Also, a large amount of sea freight will be handled at the new facilities in Taulov. The establishment of the new terminal shall also ensure that we can handle the expected continued growth in volumes which has been remarkable in recent years. In particular, the increased amount of clients and cargo volumes is a principal factor in creating a need for larger facilities. As both this new terminal and other Blue Water terminals are located close to the clients, the opportunity of providing swift and efficient service to local clients is evident. "With the new terminal, our clients will experience an even faster and more efficient service. Consolidating our cargo, will give us the opportunity to optimise the operation. Also, we will be able to deliver service of a higher quality and with the possibility to fulfil the increasing demands, from the industry, to effectivity and fle-

xibility ", says Søren Nielsen, Director for General Cargo in Blue Water Shipping. “The new terminal is 246 metres long and 50 metres wide. With 107 gates, it will be the import/export as well as the distribution hub in Jutland, with daily connections to the other Danish terminals. Once the terminal is fully operational, we expect to handle 800-1,000 trucks on a weekly basis”, says Søren Nielsen. It has always been important for Blue Water to be close to the clients, and the new facilities in Taulov provide the perfect location. It is also important for us to ensure the optimal handling of the cargo and not least the safety of our employees. Therefore, we keep a strong focus on safety/surveillance and implementation of the right IT systems.

The clients will experience an optimised operation with improved service

GIANT CONTRACT

FL: Thomas Bek, Alla Guk/both from Blue Water, Marat Ormanov/CEO of KMTF and Dan Nissen/Blue Water.

Blue Water wins another million dollar contract in Kazakhstan Blue Water will lead a consortium that has recently secured a contract, for more than 150 million US dollars, with Tengizchevroil (TCO) Blue Water has in a consortium secured yet another contract with TCO in Kazakhstan for supply of transport and logistics services. The track record of Blue Water for handling projects to the Caspian Region has been vital for securing the contract. The consortium, led by Blue Water in partnership with Kazmortransflot (KMTF), will be overall responsible for transporting 75 modules and cargo weighing up to 1600 tons on the Caspian Sea from Kuryk to the port of Prorva close to the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. Blue Water will, in the consortium, be responsible for transportation and project management, while KMTF will supply and operate three specially designed MCVs (Module Carrying Vessels).

Increased oil production The new vessels have a length of 113 metres and a width of 21 metres and are to be built by Vard at their yard in Romania. They will be owned and operated by KMTF, who has subcontracted with Topaz Energy and No. 114

Marine for technical management. KMTF is a shipping company which main activity is to develop the national merchant marine fleet of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Caspian Sea and open seas. Main activities include oil cargo transportation. The contract is connected with the next expansion of the Tengiz oil field in Western Kazakhstan.

Caspian milestone Earlier this year, Blue Water announced another major contract, in connection with the TCO FGP-WPMP project, with a value of US$350 million. Here, Blue Water is leading a consortium with Topaz Marine and Energy which will supply 15 specially designed MCVs for the transportation of Modules through the Russian river systems to the port of Prorva. Blue Water is also in this connection overall responsible for the project management. Tengizchevroil LLP is a Kazakhstani partnership exploring, developing, producing and marketing crude oil, LPG, dry gas

and sulfur. Current partners are: Chevron Overseas Company, 50 percent; KazMunayGas NC JSC, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent and LukArco B.V., 5 percent. “Executing transport and logistical projects like this requires comprehensive expertise. During the past 20 years, Blue Water has developed a strong set-up when it comes to complex logistics in the Caspian Sea region. We are honored that TCO has awarded us a second major contract this year. We are looking forward to this pro ject, and we see KMTF as a good partner in this project based on their expertise and track record,” states Kurt Skov, CEO and Founder of Blue Water Shipping. “We see these two contracts as very important milestones in Blue Water’s continuous development as a specialist in project transport and logistics globally – and of course especially in the Caspian region.”

WIND LOGISTICS

Ajos Onshore in Finland Blue Water has transported three Siemens wind turbines for the Ajos Onshore Wind Farm in Finland. During the project, Blue Water cooperated with trusted partners while supervising all steps of the project. First step was the loading of the WTGs in Esbjerg which was handled by Blue Water’s own stevedores. We chartered the vessel “Symphony Sea” for the transport to Kemi port in Finland. Several subcontractors handled the discharge operations and the inland transport to three individual sites in Finland. Blue Water’s own track and trace management system, Compass Wind, was an important element in the project as it provided all parties involved full visibility in every step from loading in Esbjerg until delivery in Finland. Also, Blue Water personnel acted as supervisors throughout the entire project.

Largest wind project in Asia The construction phase of the White Rock Wind Farm in Australia was officially initiated in May 2016. In total, 70 x 2.5 MW Goldwind G121 turbines will be installed at the wind farm, and the turbines will be delivered by Blue Water. Blue Water’s Singapore office will be responsible for the project and together with the offices in Shanghai and Sydney, they will arrange the transport for what will be the largest wind project to date for Blue Water in Asia. Throughout the years, Blue Water Singapore has built comprehensive experience with wind projects across Asia. Based on vast experience with wind projects from the European market since 1995,

innovative solutions and efficient planning have enabled Blue Water to gain a strong foothold as one of the dominant players in the Asian wind market. "We will be handling the sea freight from China to Newcastle, Australia where we will also be in charge of the storage. From Newcastle, the turbines will be trucked 515 kilometres to the site where we will be involved in the discharge operations. The turbine blades are 60 metres long - the longest blades used in an Australian wind project to date. We have indeed a very interesting assignment to look forward to", says Bjarke R. Nielsen.

Status check of tidal turbine Approximately one year after installation of Sabella's D10 tidal turbine off Ushant Island in France at a water depth of 55 metres, and according to plan, Sabella retrieved the nacelle again to perform status check. The job of retrieving the nacelle was awarded to Mojo Maritime. Blue Water assisted with the preparation 4

work and acted as agent for the vessel transporting the nacelle, MV "Aker Wayfarer". Furthermore, our stevedore company ADS performed the offloading of the nacelle. The team did the operation during the time permitted by the strong current and with arrival at Brest on the French national day, the Bastille Day. September 2016

PORT SERVICES & AGENCY

Transmitting power Everything went according to plan when Blue Water loaded three transformer units in the port of Esbjerg. Since April, the units have been stored in the port during assembly. Now, they are installed at the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in the North Sea in order to transmit the power from platform to the coast The installation vessel "Sea Installer" was alongside the quay ready to receive the heavy units.

"Before the operation commenced, we went through the safety procedures like we always do to ensure a smooth and safe operation. Each unit weighed 185 tons and the vessel’s own crane was used to lift the heavy elements. After a few hours of work, the ship shaped her course for Horns Rev", says Mikkel Puggaard, who was responsible for the project at Blue Water.

Tall Ships Festival Blue Water's Port Agency department in Brest was very busy in July as the city was hosting an impressive six-day sailing show with beautiful tall ships from all corners of the world. The show is arranged every fourth year and this year, Blue Water acted as agents for four sailing ships – three training ships, ”Cuauehtemoc”, “Libertad” and “Creoula”, from the Mexican, Argentinean and the Portuguese Military Marine respectively, as well as the civil sailing ship “Hermione”. The weather was fantastic and the show attracted more than 700,000 visitors.

Joint Venture in Cuxhaven Blue Water Shipping has established a 50/50 joint venture with BREB in Cuxhaven, Germany. BREB was founded in 1951 as Bremer Reederei Eilemann & Bischoff and owns a fleet of ultramodern MPC vessels comprising vessels for any purpose. The company’s activities include chartering, liner services and port agency among other things. “Through this new cooperation, Blue Water will have a hub in Cuxhaven – a terminal for logistics handling within wind, oil/gas, areas in which we have extensive experience from Denmark and Poland among other places. Furthermore, we will be able to offer the clients access to our unique logistics

and terminal management program “Compass Wind”, says Kurt Skov, the Founder and CEO of Blue Water. “An extension of the port of Cuxhaven is in progress and new companies are moving into the area, among others Siemens with whom we already enjoy a good cooperation in Denmark. Blue Water regards Cuxhaven as a future hub for many of the German off shore wind projects. In this connection, we see great potential within hub logistics, stevedoring and port agency”, says Brian Sørensen, Head of Business Development

Wind and Port Services at Blue Water. “We have been constantly active in the German Offshore Wind Industry since Alpha Ventus, the first German wind farm in 2008, and gained good experience as one of the leading German Port Agents in this field”, says Arne Ehlers, Managing Director and Partner of BREB. “Consequently we moved our head office from Bremen to Cuxhaven in 2014 and opened offices in Sassnitz-Mukran and on Heligoland”. The new joint venture enables Blue Water to offer their services in the centres of the German Offshore Wind.

Reward from Disney Cruise Lines

FL: Henrik Kristensen/former colleague from Blue Water's agency team, Mads Andersen/Blue Water Copenhagen and the linesman who called the bridge.

The cruise ship ”Disney Magic”, of Disney Cruise Line, recently called at the port of Copenhagen. Blue Water acted as agent handling all practical matters in connection with the call. “When ”Disney Magic” was ready to leave Copenhagen – the gangway was pulled in, the hatches closed and the first lines hauled in – we were informed that two pieces of luggage were misplaced on board the neighbouring cruise vessel “Marina”. Now we had to act fast. A forklift truck fetched the luggage, I ran to make a linesman call the bridge and ask the captain to open one of the hatches. Finally, the luggage was loaded on board”, says Mads Andersen from Blue Water’s Agency team in Copenhagen. The entire Disney team on the quayside and terminal cheered and subsequently, Mads received a reward, a rare and muchcoveted “Captain Mickey“ pin, for his efforts.

Blue Water’s Manchester office was established in 1975 to concentrate on traffics to and from the Scandinavian countries. Over the years, the office has relocated several times. The present office is situated close to the M60 Motorway which encircles Greater Manchester. The warehouse is a little over 2,000 m2 and has two loading docks and two ground level doors. “Despite the fact that we have historically

6

been a Road Freight office, it has been our ambition to develop Air & Ocean Freight for some time. Therefore, we recently started an Air/ Ocean Freight department manned by two very experienced specialists. The new department has already got off to a good start and we are ready to deal with any enquiries and bookings”, says General Manager Stephen Leary. “We always try to understand our clients’ business and offer advice when appropriate.

Over the years, we have had many customers who have stayed with us for a long time. We have learned a lot from dealing with different companies with diverse products. Although the modern trend in road freight is to go for volume, especially in palletized cargo, we have maintained the knowledge and capability to look after clients who have special requirements”, says Stephen Leary.

On 13 July, Blue Water Copenhagen set a new record with tree impressive cruise ships in port: MV ”Norwegian Star”, MV ”Disney Magic” and MV ”Marina”. All three ships performed turnaround. The ships lay alongside Ocean Pier in the North Port and the number of passengers and crew on board the three ships totalled 6,500 and 2,800 respectively. “Nearly all passengers disembarked and the same amount of new passengers boarded the ships looking forward to going on a cruise. A full team of Blue Water colleagues was ready at the quayside looking forward to a day that turned out to be exciting, challenging and very interesting”, says Hans Chen Braas, Manager Cruise Port Agency at Blue Water Copenhagen.

Gigantic accommodation modules The Special Project Department of Blue Water Shipping has recently been involved in the transport of two gigantic accommodation modules weighing up to 650 tons. The accommodation modules, built in Gdynia, Poland, were transported by barge/tug to the port of Frederikshavn, Denmark, for Semco Maritime. Blue Water’s involvement also included lifting to and installation on board ‘Maersk Guardian’, as part of the conversion from drilling rig to accommodation platform.

After the sea fastenings had been released, the complicated lifting and installation process could begin. For this job, carried out on behalf of Maersk Drilling, Blue Water chartered the sheerleg ‘Matador 3’ with a lifting capacity of 1800 tons. For the positioning on board ‘Maersk Guardian’, Blue Water supplied a team of riggers and equipment for positioning the modules with millimetre precision. Prior to the lifting operation, bumpers/ guides had been welded to the deck of

the rig and the modules, and the final positioning was done by a combination of chain blocks on the inside for pulling and hydraulic jacks on the outside for pushing.

We have been very satisfied with the service level and flexibility provided by Blue Water throughout the job

Knowing the Volga Don river system In September, two pressure vessels from Romania will arrive at a refinery in Turkmenistan on barges chartered by Blue Water who has also been responsible for chartering a tug boat and for all ballast

operations. The modules are being transported through the Russian Volga Don river system which is a challenging route for oversized cargo. Luckily, Blue Water knows the river system quite well from

previous projects so the modules are in good hands. During the reloading from vessel to barge and the lashing operation, Blue Water was on site to ensure that everything went according to plan.

The modules weigh 370 and 540 tons.

We keep our promises Arburg A/S is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-end machines for plastics processing. In the beginning of June, the company needed a transport partner for one of their machines and contacted Blue Water Copenhagen. "Blue Water has solved the transport assignment to our full satisfaction and according to our agreement. Trust and professional handling are key elements for assignments like this and Blue Water has lived up to both", says Finn Knutzen from Arburg A/S. After the exhibition, the machine was delivered to a client near Silkeborg, Denmark.

Construction on time Blue Water has entered into a contract with the construction company BM Byggeindustri with headquarters in Hobro Denmark where the production also takes place. The contract includes transport of basic modules for housing construction in Denmark. “We have had a good dialogue with Blue Water who has presented good solutions. We believe that Blue Water can develop our logistics and that we are a good match”, says Tom Theilgaard Mikkelsen, Co-owner of BM Byggeindustri. In June, BM Byggeindustri signed a contract for delivery of basic

modules for around 650 council houses in Denmark. Once the modules have been produced in Hobro, Blue Water will take over and ensure a timely delivery. Initially, there will mainly be deliveries to Sealand, however, the contract covers nationwide distribution. “Within the first two years, we could reach 600 transports if everything goes according to plan. It is an important contract for us and we look forward to a long and successful cooperation”, says Allan Leiberg Brodersen, who is responsible for Sales and Development in Blue Water.

In July, during a quick lunch, our team in Rio, along with SBM´s crew, celebrated the sail away of the FPSO “Cidade de Saquarema”. We have provided door to door logistics solutions for SBM for the past five years supporting the construction of four FPSOs. Another milestone achievement of our positive cooperation. " We are proud to have developed a well-founded relationship with our collea gues at SBM and enjoyed commemorating another turning point. We look forward to what is to come”, says Jana Gomes, Operations Manager for Blue Water Rio.

Urgent delivery In July, Blue Water Baku received a request for quotation from Baku Shipyard LLC, for very urgent shipment of 30 Marine Cables, with a total weight of 27 tons, from Korea to Baku. Due to urgency, the cargo had to be airfreighted. “We sent our quotation to Baku Shipyard the very same day that we received the order. Next day our offer was approved and we received shipping instructions from the client. The cargo was collected by our agent in Korea to prepare for packing and export formalities. The Marine Cables were delivered to the international airport in South Korea, ICN Airport, three days later and loaded on a direct flight to Baku. Upon arrival in Baku, the cargo was delivered to Baku Shipyard”, says Fina Garber, Managing Director of Blue Water Baku. The task was performed efficiently and timely to the client’s full satisfaction in cooperation with Azerbaijan Silk Way Airlines and their teams in Korea and Azerbaijan”.

Green energy control The Danish energy control system manufacturer, DEIF, has signed a logistics contract with Blue Water, who will be handling around 15,000 shipments annually. "One of our most important criteria for transport is that the quality of our products will be maintained. We want a partner who can guarantee this. Therefore, it is important that our partner is certified according to ISO standards", says Thomas Ryberg Pedersen, Strategic Purchaser at DEIF. During the negotiations, Blue Water and DEIF had a good dialogue. "Our impression is that Blue Water is a trustworthy transport supplier who shares our view on the importance of mutual trust", says Thomas Ryberg Pedersen. The agreement covers all import and export shipments by sea and air. Each shipment is collected, marked and ultimately stored at Blue Water’s warehouses before distribution.

New requirements to courier cargo Several courier companies have introduced stricter requirements to packing of cargo in order to avoid space wasted in connection with courier shipments. Courier cargo must always be stackable and must never cause damage to other cargo. Therefore, the courier companies have introduced a ‘Not fit to travel’ fee as per 1 August. The fee will be charged for cargo which cannot be stacked or which inflicts damage to other cargo as a result of incorrect or insufficient packaging. Also, a fee is introduced for cargo not suitable for conveyor belt and for cargo which exceeds the maximum cargo size. Blue Water’s courier specialists are always at your service ready to provide good advice and guidance on how to fulfil the requirements. Our guide on how to prepare courier cargo for dispatch can be downloaded from Blue Water’s website.

Blue Water Chicago has solved a somewhat special project of moving a labrador puppy from US to Denmark. The dog breeder had booked space on a United flight from California to Chicago where Mads Schønning Arnsbæk, who was recently transferred to Chicago, took over. Together with Bonnie Bailey and Dina Ferguson, from our Chicago office, the dog’s permit to fly to Denmark was arranged in only two hours. As soon as the preparations were finished, Mads accompanied the puppy and saw her on board the plane bound for Denmark and her new owner. As the photo shows, Mads took good care of the furry little lady, giving her food and water before the long flight.

Success in Dublin In June, the IELA Conference and Partnering Event were held in Dublin. More than 250 people participated in the conference and about 400 attended the partnering event. Blue Water was represented by Frank Rettig from our new exhibition department in Chicago and Lasse Reuss and Claus Bæk from the exhibition department in Esbjerg. We met a lot of old partners and friends, but also many new faces, and the conference was a great success. At the conference, the retiring Chairman, Robert Moore from Agility Australia, received warm thanks for his efforts. Mariane Ewbank from Fulstandig Brazil was elected new Chairman – and we hereby wish her good look with her new duties. During the autumn, we will follow up on all the good meetings and talks which will hopefully prove fruitful for the departments.

Get-together in Taulov All warehouse staff, working at the new terminal in Taulov, were prior to the inaugeration on a guided tour of our new facilities. For handling the daily tasks at the terminal, a positive working environment is of great importance. Therefore,

the purpose of the get-together was to create a teamwork spirit and make sure that everyone participating had a good time. After the tour, next item on the agenda was dine & bowl.

Customized storage solutions

Storage solutions make life easier for Blue Water's clients. All types of goods, from food products to dangerous cargo, are stored in the best way possible from the moment the products leave the manufacturer until they are delivered to the end-users. "Also, from an IT point of view, Blue Water's storage solutions offer advantages. The clients will have full transparency, 12

they will be able to administer pick & pack 24/7 and our web system can be integrated with the client's own technology", says Daniel Mortensen from the Airfreight department at Blue Water Odense. It may seem an enormous job to relocate your stock to Blue Water's locations, but it can easily be done without the end-users noticing. "We relocated the entire stock for a

coffee distributor and registered all products in our system. During the relocation process, we naturally also made sure that all the consumers, buying coffee from the web shop, received their ordered products. Through Blue Water's integrated web shop solutions, we handle packing and delivery. As Blue Water's client, all you have to take care of is the billing", says Daniel Mortensen. September 2016

REEFER LOGISTICS

Booming Reefer activities Our international reefer activities have in general experienced a remarkable progress during the first six months of 2016. Mainly due to a strong export of proteins and French fries from the EU, all our European offices have registered a magnificent growth. Primarily the offices in Holland and Denmark have seen large volumes to China and the rest of the Far East, however, the positive tendencies also have an impact in Spain, France, Ireland and in the cross-trade department. We also see a positive development on the American market where we handle

large volumes to South America. Finally, we are experiencing good export from Brazil. Our reefer offices have come off to a good start this year, and we are looking forward to our usual busy season in the third and fourth quarters. It is positive to see that all offices have contributed to wards the progress during the first six months of 2016

The special import permit from the Australian government was obtained and the ice cores were delivered on time without any problems. The ice will now be used in the research of climate changes. After delivery, the receiving party thanked all the employ ees involved for their effort and for their way of handling the shipment. Based on the excellent service, Blue Water has now been entrusted with yet another assignment; shipment of ice cores from Denver, USA to Le Havre in France.

BLUE WATER KONTOR PRÆSENTATION CORPORATE

Green award from GREENET Blue Water is one of seven companies who were recently presented the GREENET Environmental Award. GREENET is a voluntary-based network for businesses, authorities, institutions, organisations and other stakeholder who seek to establish and promote cooperation of environmentally sustainable practices in the region covering the five districts Billund, Esbjerg, Fano, Varde and Vejen. “The award is a recognition of our efforts into reducing our energy consump-

tion. The five-year climate partnership, entered into early this year, is an important element, as the agreement means that Blue Water’s future electricity consumption in Denmark will be low-carbon energy supplied by Anholt Offshore Wind Farm. Furthermore, a concrete objective for reducing our energy consumption of the Danish locations by 5 per cent over the next five years is part of the agreement”, says Kim Beier from Blue Water’s HSSEQ team.

Deputy Chairman in GREENET John Snedker presenting the award to Kim Beier.

Guided tour of Taulov In August, the staff of Blue Water Esbjerg were invited to see our new ultramodern office and cargo terminal in Taulov. A large number of colleagues seized the opportunity and got on the tour bus which took them across Jutland. They

were all very impressed by the fantastic facilities that our colleagues from “the former” Kolding office, Esbjerg's domestic team and terminal staff from Aarhus, reinforced by new and very competent employees, moved into on 15/8.

OFFICE PRESENTATION

Denmark

Padborg Manager: Established: Employees:

Carsten Steffensen & Michael K. Frederiksen 1980 20 (13 office/7 terminal) + 8 involved in Esbjerg

Primary activities:

»» Fish Transport – fresh, chilled and frozen fish products

»» Handling, sorting and distribution of fresh fish

»» Re-loading of fresh fruit from truck to truck. »» Professional door/door package solutions Blue Water’s branch in Padborg was established in 1980. The primary activity at that time was customs documentation for transport via Germany to other EU countries. However, with the open borders, this has changed completely and the office is now solely operating fish transports. The office and reefer terminal are situated near the railway station, huckepack swap terminal, the international motorway system and in the middle of the largest concentration of transport companies in Denmark.

14

The first reefer terminal (1,000 m2) was built in 1994 on behalf of the Danish salmon traders who were buying fresh salmon in Norway and needed a place to split and sort the fish to the ultimate consumers in the EU. In 1998, the terminal was extended by an additionally 2,300 m2. The terminal - still the newest and most modern terminal in the area – is open 24 hours a day 363 days a year. “Activities such as sorting and distribution of fish products are handled by means of modern bar coding equipment. Door/door solutions are

arranged with IT links from Scandinavian, North Atlantic and Baltic producers to consumers in Central and Southern Europe. We offer our clients many regular services with departures six times a week, with driver accompanied trucks (two drivers per truck) to several EU countries. Often we deliver fish to the consignees from up to 6-7 different countries of origin on the same truck”, says Carsten Steffensen, Global Managing Director North Atlantic & Reefer Logistics at Blue Water.

Visit from South Africa

Blue Water participated with seven teams in this year’s relay race, which was held in good weather.

Relay race in the woods 35 runners from Blue Water Esbjerg participated in the yearly Blue Water Relay Race held in Esbjerg. The runners received enthusiastic backing from their colleagues who turned up in large numbers. After the race, everyone had time to discuss their

clockings and get a bite to eat. In total, 248 teams/1240 runners participated. Esbjerg Athletics took first place and the best Blue Water team came in as number 14.

Supporting Maritime Museum The Skov family’s long-time attachment to the old skipper town, Marstal, on the Danish island of Aero, where the family also owns a house, made it an easy choice for the Blue Water Foundation to support the island’s Maritime Museum when a special occasion occurred. This happened on 1.7 with an exhibition of the works of marine and Greenland painter Jens Erik Carl Rasmussen to celebrate the inauguration of an extension of the museum. Jens Erik Carl Rasmussen

lived many years of his life in Marstal. On the same occasion, a book on his works was published. The author is Karsten Hermansen who is attached to the museum and has published a large number of books. It was a day of festivity and the official opening was performed by Minister of Culture Bertel Haarder. The entertainment was delivered by among others Marstal Choral Society headed by the Director of the Maritime Museum Erik Kromann.

Our South African agent, Pioneer Freight, has visited our office in Copenhagen. The visit included meetings and a tour of the office including the Deep Sea departments. For lunch, we enjoyed a good old-fashioned Danish specialty; open sandwiches with cold cuts, cheese etc. It was a very positive visit which offered plenty of hope for a strong cooperation in the future.

Music delivered by the Blue Water Foundation A church in the small town of Bramming, Denmark has donated its old organ to a church in Transylvania in Romania. How ever, the magnificent gesture involved the challenge of transporting the organ without putting a strain on the congregation’s finances. Therefore, an application for a sponsorship was sent to the Blue Water Foundation. Upon receipt of the application, the Blue Water Foundation decided to sponsor the transport. The organ was delivered in late June. The Romanian priest has subsequently sent a letter of thanks in which he promises to reserve a prominent spot in the church for the organ. With this assignment in mind, you might even claim that the organ music

Record parachuters Four parachute jumpers paid our premises in Odense a flying visit in July. They landed on a field near our office as part of their record attempt. Their chopper landed on our parking area and the parachuters quickly moved on to their next jump. The record attempt was about landing on as many Danish islands in one day as possible. Each parachuter managed to land on 23 islands – and set a new Danish record.

Jubilees 30th Stephen Kenny

01.12.86–01.12.2016

On 1.12, it will be 30 years since Stephen Kenny (Steve)/Blue Water Manchester joined our Manchester team. Steve has had a few roles, starting in Sales then moving to Danish Exports and then on to Danish Imports. Steve managed the Import department for quite a few years and now supports his colleague, Dave Earp, who took over the role last year. The reason for the reversal in roles was because Steve became ill towards the end of 2014 and decided together with his colleagues that it would be sensible No. 114

to reduce his workload. Happily, after a brief recovery period, Steve was firing on all four cylinders again and he was soon back watching his favourite team - Manchester United. However, during the Monday morning football "post-mortem" it is not always clear that United ARE his favourite team. Steve and his wife, Karen, also share a passion for music, especially live music, and they often attend concerts. Their music taste is very varied so they can always find something. They also spend some leisure time in their motorhome, often combining trips with their musical interests.

Silver Inge Grønbæk Jensen

01.10.91–01.10.2016

On 1.10, Inge Grønbæk Jensen/Blue Water Hirtshals will celebrate her silver anniversary. In 1994, Blue Water acquired Linde Shipping & Spedition, in which company, Inge was taken on as an adult Trainee a few years earlier (in 1991). Over the years, Inge has been involved in more or less all aspects of transport and freight forwarding including ships clearance, loading/discharging of vessels as well as road transport. Today, Inge’s primary responsibilities are customs clearance and issue of all kinds of customs docu19

Jubilees mentation, mainly for import from the Faroes and Iceland, as well as local freight forwarding. Inge is very dedicated and well-liked by the clients. She is hard-working and always ready to lend her colleagues a helping hand. She is the mother of two grown-up children, Line and Michael, and the loving grandmother of Lui aged four and Geo who is two years old, whom she adores. Inge loves spending her free time in the family summer house in Sealand. In the evening, she often plays bingo at the community centre.

20th Michael K. Frederiksen

will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.10. When Blue Water in 2008 acquired the freight forwarding activities of Unifeeder in Aarhus, Julie – who was in her second year of apprenticeship – was part of the deal. The next years, Julie formed part of our Norwegian team in Aarhus until she and her boyfriend wished to move to Copenhagen. Julia was now transferred to Blue Water Copenhagen’s Nordic department which has since been growing steadily. Julie has acquired the Customs Diploma degree and has wide knowledge within this area for the benefit of the entire office. Julia and her boyfriend, Hans Christian (H.C.), live in Valby and are going to have a baby in October. Julie’s leisure activities include computer games, however, this will probably have to stop as the gamer room will soon be converted into a nursery.

01.12.96–01.12.2016

Michael K. Frederiksen/Blue Water Padborg will celebrate his 20th anniversary on 1.12. Michael originally started at the Hirtshals office, but moved to Padborg a few weeks later to take care of our traffic to Germany. Today, he is also responsible for the staff at the Padborg office, a job he masters brilliantly as he has his colleagues wellbeing in his heart. Michael’s door is always open, also after office hours. Many of his colleagues have enjoyed his and his family’s great hospitality. Michael and his wife, Ulla, live in the town of Graasten and they have two children, Pernille and Mikkel. According to Ulla and the words in her song to Michael at their 12½ years’ wedding anniversary, he spends most of his workday talking on his mobile. In his spare time, Michael plays tennis, just for fun, and he has suspended his football career to go running instead. Michael also likes to cook and it is no secret that he prefers a rich sauce.

10th Julie Pedersen

Julie Pedersen/Blue Water Copenhagen 20

10th Martin Terndrup Nielsen

01.10.06–01.10.2016

Martin Terndrup Nielsen/Blue Water Odense originally completed his apprenticeship at our Kolding office on 1.10.2002. After a detour to a courier company, Martin returned to his “second half”, as he calls it, in 2006. For the past ten years, Martin has formed part of our airfreight team in Odense. His time in the courier industry has given him a unique insight into what happens after the goods leave Blue Water’s terminals. He is therefore well-positioned for handling this activity. Martin is a bit of a nerd - in the best sense of the word. His greatest interest is history – in particular the Second World War and the Cold War. Martin’s historical interest also takes up a lot of his free time as he is involved in an air-raid shelter museum in Odense on a voluntary basis. Martin is married to Lise and the couple has two children, Mads and Ellen.

10th Dorthe Torbensen

01.11.06–01.11.2016

Dorthe Torbensen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.11. In her time with Blue Water, Dorthe has always formed part of our UK Import team, starting as Freight Forwarder and today she is Head of the team. Dorthe controls the activity with a firm hand together with her second year trainee and colleagues from Manchester and Ipswich. She is also active in the company staff club and in our Best Practice group. Dorthe’s colleagues often benefit from her inability to say no. Both in the daily work and when she helps organising parties. Dorthe is married to Allan. The couple has three children, Tobias, Marcus and Simone, and the family also includes their dog Mynte. Outside office hours, Dorthe loves exercising, playing golf and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys life to the full.

10th Glenn Ludvigsen

01.11.06–01.11.2016

Glenn Ludvigsen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate his 10th anniversary on 1.11. Years back, Glenn served his apprenticeship in Blue Water involved in road transport to Austria and Poland. If he had not found new pastures, Glenn would now be celebrating a far higher number of years with Blue Water. In 2006, Glenn returned to the paddock to become part of our sales team, having his base in Esbjerg as well as spending time on the road in connection with client visits. Glenn lives together with Lene and the couple has a mutual child, Benjamin aged two. In addition, Glenn has two teenage children, Laura and Oliver – and not forgetting the dog, Sally, who is also part of the family. September 2016

HUMAN RESOURCES

Jubilees Leisure activities include windsurfing and sailing. Glenn has been the owner of several motor boats, but has now invested in a sailing boat.

10th Hans Birk

01.11.06–01.11.2016

Hans Birk/Blue Water Odense has since he started with Blue Water on 1.11.06, been taking care of the Scandinavian Traffic at the Odense office. He is extremely dedicated and a bit of a control freak double checking everything. The traffic is indeed in safe hands with him. He has even got possessive and will only reluctantly let his colleagues fill in for him and attend to his beloved Swedish export. Hans is a humorous guy, but also very private. He does not talk much about himself, however, we do know that he is living on his own and has a girlfriend. Handball is one of his leisure interests and Hans watches all the local club GOG’s home matches. In the winter, he also plays badminton, and two skiing holidays a year is the absolute minimum. Music is another interest, in which connection he enjoys visiting the annual music festival on the Danish island of Langeland.

10th Jette Vad Madsen

01.11.06–01.11.2016

Jette Vad Madsen/Blue Water Esbjerg will celebrate her 10th anniversary on 1.11. As Manager for Accounts Receivable, Jette keeps track of the clients’ (punctual) payments. With great commitment, wide knowledge and lots of energy, she has contributed to the development and implementation of the company’s debtor policy. Jette loves her job – so much that she often ”forgets” to go home. In Jette’s 10 years of employment, Blue Water’s Accounts Receivable team has grown from two to ten employees and is very No. 114

efficient and professional. The past year, Jette has been one of the driving forces behind the AX project (new finance system). Jette drinks a lot of coffee and coke. She talks a lot and spends her lunch break discussing football. She says she is supporting Aalborg Football Club, but she is not very loyal as she only follows their matches when they are favoured by fortune. Jette and her husband, Jørgen, live on a farm and the couple has three grownup children.

10th Kasper Madsen

Hydro Aluminium from Rostock, Germany to Poland and the Czech Republic in cooperation with Blue Water Copenhagen. Over the years, the office has grown – in size as well as in number of staff. Today, Ralf is the General Manager of the offices in Bremen and Dusseldorf with a total staff of eight. He is in charge of administration, but is also still active in the operation of the Norwegian traffic as well as heavy lift transportation. Ralf’s overall passion is country music. Some of his colleagues may remember his live session at the Underground (pub) in Esbjerg a few years ago. Ralf lives in Bremen and is married and has a daughter.

10th 01.11.06–01.11.2016

Kasper Madsen/Blue Water Esbjerg started in the UK team on 1.11.2006. Over the years, both colleagues and export and import clients have profited by his wide knowledge. After nine years, Kasper wished to broaden his horizon and is today an important part of our IT Consulting team. Here, he will take part in the training of his colleagues and implementation of the new TMS (Transport Management System). In many ways, Kasper is the office Jack-of-all-trades and haggler. He sells everything from ladies’ handbags to long johns and coordinates the office’s massage appointments as well as the football pools in connection with two annual tournaments, always hoping to be the winner. He is an enthusiastic Brondby supporter. Kasper and his girlfriend Mie have built a house in a little village outside Esbjerg where they both help support the local village hall.

10th Ralf Poppe

Tom Krøyer

06.11.06–06.11.2016

On 6.11 Tom Krøyer/Blue Water Odense will celebrate his 10th anniversary. Tom is part of the warehouse team in Odense, since 2015 as Warehouse Manager. All year round, Tom has a fantastic sun-tanned complexion. The colour may result from his frequent charter holidays to Turkey, Bulgaria and Majorca where he socialises with the younger generation. Recently, he and his wife spent a week in Gran Canaria together with a lot of seniors – but that was no success. Tom is married to Gitte and the couple has a daughter, Anne. Tom’s number one interest is his referee job. He is looking after the referee talents in Funen, and on a national scale, he helps developing the best talents. Tom also acts as a referee himself, in Funen.

10th Mohammad Qasim

01.11.06–01.11.2016

Starting as an Administrative Assistant in the reception in 2006, she very quickly became involved in Marine Agency operations in Bautino port, Kazakhstan. Today, she is occupying the position of Assistant to the Chief Accountant. Natalya has a son, Tolik, who is 19 years old. In his entire Blue Water career, Jeppe has played and still plays an important part in the development of our East European department. The fact is that he likes to work with areas placing different demands on the traffic than the usual EU countries. After a decline in the Baltic States/Eastern Europe, Jeppe has now become involved in Turkey. Jeppe is married to Gitte and they have a son and a daughter. In addition, Jeppe has two sons by his first marriage. Jeppe is a sports enthusiast – ice hockey and floorball in particular. Born and bred in the North of Jutland, more precisely Frederikshavn, there is no doubt which team he supports. Now that his sons have started playing ice hockey on Herning’s team, Jeppe will no doubt be facing some challenges. We are anxiously waiting to see him convert.

10th Brian Thulstrup Nielsen

01.12.06–01.12.2016

On 1.12.2006 Brian Thulstrup Nielsen/ Blue Water Odense started as Terminal Assistant in cramped conditions at our old warehouse. However, half a year later, the Odense team including Brian moved to new facilities. Still part of the team as an all-rounder, Brian takes an active share in all the activities of the terminal. Brian is happy when we succeed in putting all pieces of the puzzle together so that all goods are loaded to go out. This makes his day perfect. Brian is married to Majbrit and lives in the small town of Vantinge in Funen. In his spare time, he is busy playing games on his computer – but when he is after the real big prize, he plays bingo.

Klaus Odby/Blue Water Esbjerg started as Shipping Assistant at Blue Water’s head office on 1.12.2006. Klaus is well-known in shipbroking circles where he has a large network. In addition to his role as Operational Manager in Agency Esbjerg, Klaus forms part of our Sales organisation across Blue Water’s Port Service division. Klaus is characterized by his cheerful remarks, his sense of humour and his cheerfulness. He is born and bred in the small town, Tjaereborg, outside Esbjerg where he still lives – together with his wife, Louise, and their three children: Frederik aged four and the twins William and Valdemar who are one and a half years old. Klaus is sociable, an enthusiastic camper and angler, and the colleagues in his department have on several occasions benefited from his cooking abilities.

PORTRAIT OF NIKOLAJ

Trust means everything for Nikolaj Teamwork and experience are important for creating efficient solutions, says Nikolaj Buurgaard Sørensen who has been involved in special transports for years Through the years, Blue Water has been involved in many gigantic oil, gas and industrial projects and Nikolaj Buurgaard Sørensen, Operations Manager in Esbjerg, is taking an active share in handling the challenging projects all over the world. “My job includes varied assignments and field work in connection with the execution of the practical work on the projects. It is very exciting because planning a project is one thing, and another to ensure that the operations are completed and problems that may arise are solved. It is situations like these that one really learns from”, says Nikolaj Buurgaard Sørensen.

Close dialogue Nikolaj has built wide experience and is responsible for his own projects. As many parties are involved, a close dialogue between the parties is necessary. This suits Nikolaj fine. “I am motivated by assignments where we pull together as a team, in which I am the link between the parties. I get a kick 24

from being part of a project from the very beginning, discussing the details with the client up until the transport is carried out and the cargo has been safely delivered to the consignee. As we are handling expensive and sensitive cargo, it is necessary to stay focused to ensure the best solution. Therefore, it is important for me to have a close contact with the clients and that we find a solution together. The trust we build, when accomplishing an assignment together, means everything”.

Part of the team The teamwork with one’s colleagues is an educational experience. An assignment can be handled in different ways, depending on which part of the world we are in. “We work in different ways in Denmark, in the Far East and in the USA because me have to adapt to the local conditions. We always focus on upholding our high standard and quality, but we learn the working methods of the countries we visit, which is valuable for future projects”.

Adapting Even though there naturally is a pressure on the market and the amount of competitors are rising, Nikolaj sees a good future. Flexibility and the ability to adapt and be innovative are of vital importance. “Our organisation is characterised by freedom with responsibility and an informal atmosphere. This proves that the Management has confidence in us which enables us to act swiftly and efficiently. Also, it is important that we continue to improve our competences and develop towards the market. In this way, we can create the best possibilities for our clients in the future”, concludes Nikolaj Buurgaard Sørensen. The trust we build when accomplishing an assignment together means everything
