Stepping in for Col. Bradley Crites, commander of the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS), Dr. Edward J. Degnan began his brief talking about the USAF’s perspective on the Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) environment. Degnan is AFAMS’ LVC Foundations division chief, and currently leading the USAF LVC Integrating Architecture’s efforts through his Agency.

ADL Torgler joins JTIEC as deputy director By Dolly Rairigh Glass
The Joint Training Integration and Evaluation Center (JTIEC) has a new, but familiar face in the office. Dan Torgler, who spent 15 years working for Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS), the Marine Corps’ acquisition agent for training systems and training support and sustainment, has joined JTIEC as the deputy director. It’s a perfect fit and one that sees Torgler’s involvement with Team Orlando come full circle. Torgler was one of the original founding charter members of Team Orlando’s Board of Directors and instrumental in the creation of the JTIEC.

The Corridor helps fill gap within Team Orlando Team Orlando recently announced the addition of the Florida High Tech Corridor Council as its fourth liaison member to the board of directors. The Corridor is a regional economic development initiative of the University of Central Florida, the University of South Florida and the University of Florida. Its mission is to grow high tech industry and innovation through partnerships that support research, marketing, workforce and entrepreneurship.

The National Center for Simulation announced the 2015 class for the Modeling and Simulation Hall of Fame: Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Earle L. Denton, Åsmund S. Lærdal, Henry “Hank” C. Okraski and Colonel (Ret) James E. Shifflet. The inductees — all pioneers, visionaries and leaders in the development and advancement of modeling, simulation and training technologies will be recognized at a ceremony at the Orange County Convention Center on May 12.

ADL Serious Games Showcase & Challenge experiences breakout year in 2007 With the 2006 inaugural behind them, the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge IPT committee began to pinpoint the challenges they recognized in that first year and address them for the 2007 Challenge. The year was focused on removing restrictions that seemed to be hampering more than helping the Challenge.

ADL Kicks Off 2015 xAPI Design Cohort Meetings The inaugural weekly meeting of the third year of the xAPI design cohort was held on February 5th. The design cohort was launched in order to create a contribution to the learning technology community with the Experience API (xAPI) by forming teams to discuss and solve design projects and solutions. Over 16 teams have joined the cohort, comprised of participants from around the globe (including members from the U.S., Taiwan, the U.K., Latvia, Australia, Nepal, and India).
Still time to tee it off with NCS The annual charity golf tournament for the National Center for Simulation and Lou Frey Institute (LFI) of Politics & Government at the University of Central Florida is March 30 at Interlachen Country Club.
