November 2016 | Special I/ITSEC Edition Don’t miss Warfighters Corner on Tuesday and Wednesday During I/ITSEC, on Tuesday and Wednesday, attendees will gather for “Warfighters’ Corner: From the Tip of the Spear,” a widely-attended annual event that features recently deployed panel members from each military service. The stories told during these 90-minute panels help bring realism to the fascinating and innovative training products highlighted on the I/ITSEC floor. Through these individuals, Team Orlando members and other attendees gain an understanding of the impact of the training products and services they deliver. Panel members, chosen by their respective services, share their personal training experiences and reflect on whether it was or wasn’t effective, and why.

Air Force brings LVC initiatives, operational training

The Air Force brings a collection of initiatives and Operational Training Capabilities which focus on creating an LVC Training Environment in support of the Air Force’s evolution from traditional live-fly to integrated Readiness Training. Major General Robert D. McMurry, Jr., the Commander, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the Air Force keynote speaker. He is responsible for managing a $2.1 billion Air Force science and technology program and an additional $2.3 billion in externally funded research and development. He is also responsible for leading a government workforce of approximately 6,000 people in the laboratory’s nine component technology directorates and 711th Human Performance Wing.

OBW returns for second year with high expectations Operation Blended Warrior (OBW), in its second year, is a multi-year event designed with the primary intent to better understand and address challenges faced by the DoD in the development and execution of a Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environment for training. Organizer Kent Gritton said, “OBW is both a demonstration of industry’s LVC capabilities in a representative, complex LVC environment, within a venue that encourages discussion with LVC experts about the challenges LVC participants face.”

PM TRASYS supports OBW, showcases Animatronics, C2P2 As one of the initial participants in last year’s Operation Blended Warrior (OBW), Marine Corps Systems Command’s Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS) will provide representative training systems integrated to illustrate how Live, Virtual and Constructive simulations can provide representative training systems integrated to illustrate how Live, Virtual and Constructive simulations can provide collective training to enhance combat readiness. This will include participation in the Amphibious Assault vignettes of OBW with our Combined Arms Command and Control Trainer Upgrade System (CACCTUS) and Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE) training systems.

NAWCTSD offers opportunities for learning; Industry Day The United States Navy will be showcasing its latest training and simulation technologies that help prepare the nation’s Warfighters for mission success in booths #337 and #1239. Naval engineers and scientists will provide demonstrations of advanced training solutions for submarines, ships, aircraft, and other specialized requirements. Also highlighted will be the Navy’s commitment to joint service interoperability and close cooperation with private industry and academia in the development of training systems.

Celebrating its 11th year, the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C) has grown to be one of the main attractions at each year’s I/ITSEC, and plays a critical role in helping to generate interest in the use of digital game technology and new approaches for training and education. The SGS&C leadership team, lead by Shane Taber from Engineering and Computer Simulations, Inc., and Steve McCabe, Air Force Training Systems Engineer, AFLCMC/ WNS Simulators Division, invites you to visit booth #2781 to see this year’s finalists, including three entries from international partners: Brazil’s Independent Games Festival and Australasian Simulation Congress.

PEO STRI to feature programs; host Squad Overmatch Squad Overmatch, the winner of the 2016 Team Orlando Collaboration Award, will be a featured program in Booth #629, with hardware and video displays. Tuesday at 12:30 pm, their Fort Benning squad will begin the live portion of Operation Blended Warrior (OBW) conducting an urban mission in the exhibit hall. This is an open invitation to witness the operations order being given to the squad and follow them on their mission, culminating in a multi-domain Tactical Casualty Care event back in booth 629. The live squad will also be supplemented with two virtual squads.

Visit ARL to experience latest in Army R&D Be sure to visit booth #315 to experience the latest in Army research and development for training. The Army Research Laboratory, Human Research and Engineering Directorate will be displaying the latest in medical simulation, augmented reality, avatar creation, adaptive training and more. A featured project in the booth this year is using augmented reality for training with the Minehound system. ARL in a partnership with the University of Central Florida’s, Institute for Simulation and Training, developed a first-of-its-kind mobile training game for the Minehound and is expanding that application to include Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) training.

NCS, Central Florida community show support NCS, along with the Central Florida Community have a goal to provide comprehensive support for the MS&T industry which requires cooperation and collaboration between academia, industry and smart government. NCS is an internationally recognized leader in supporting the MS&T community. ADL to present tutorials, papers, host booth on I/ITSEC floor ADL will be participating in the Interservice/Industry Training Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in booth #2132 on the conference floor, and will be presenting tutorials and a number of paper sessions.
