ADC LEADERSHIP ADC BOARD MEETINGS
Led by ADC Board President Benjamin Palmer, the Board met five (5) times during the 2011-2012 calendar year, specifically on:

OCTOBER 11, 2011 DECEMBER 6, 2011 FEBRUARY 7, 2012 APRIL 10, 2012 JULY31,2012
ADC LEADERSHIP
The primary focus for the Board this year was to find and hire a new Executive Director. After interviewing many extremely well qualified and diverse candidates, the Board chose Ignacio Oreamuno. Oreamuno who founded one of the first websites dedicated to advertising, IHAVEANIDEA.org, the world’s only simultaneous international portfolio review, Portfolio Night, and also a global award show that applauds work without any categories, the Tomorrow Awards– was brought in to bestow his revolutionary energy upon the Art Directors Club and its members. In just four months, Oreamuno has already begun to infuse ADC with an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, integrating his companies with the existing prowess of the ADC Annual Awards, ADC Young Guns, ADC Hall of Fame and ongoing programs and events. Together, this power lineup of programs creates the ADC Global Network. This Annual Report will detail both what was accomplished in 2011 and 2012 prior to Oreamuno’s hire, as well as what has launched in 2012 under his direction. On Tuesday, October 16, 2012, the voting membership of the Art Directors Club ratified the 2012-2013 Board of Directors slate.

It means to provide a neutral ground for professionals and students of diverse creative backgrounds to come together, to listen, to push each other, to help each other, to grow and to learn. This neutral ground exists most importantly at 106 West 29th Street, in the ADC Gallery in New York, but it also exists online through the ADC Global Network’s family of websites and social media. It is through this connection and sense of community that ADC will build its membership and continue to increase its international diversity.

CONNECT BUTTER: A NIGHT OF POP CULTURE AND POPCORN
Once or twice a month, ADC throws open its gallery doors, fires up its vintage popcorn machine, covers the floor in brightly colored oversized Fatboy bean bag chairs donated by Fatboy USA, cracks open a few cool brews and fires up the projector, all in the name of inspiration.

These screenings feature combinations of short films, documentaries, music videos and more made by ADC members and community. The inaugural edition of BUTTER was headlined by Matt Jay’s short film, “Any Day Now.” Jay, son of ADC Hall of Famer and Executive Creative Director and Partner of Wieden+Kennedy John Jay, brought the cast and crew for an open Q&A and networking session following the films. With partners curating films in Los Angeles and New York, the BUTTER series will continue throughout the year.

CONNECT ADC ADVENTURE CLUB
Most of us in the creative industries have spent the last few years obsessing over technology. Tablets, phones and computers have changed our jobs, modified our skill sets and transformed our personal lives. In doing so, we’ve unfortunately lost touch with the world around us. So ADC will be traveling around the world to hike, kayak, dive and explore. Open exclusively to ADC members, Adventure Club participants have the opportunity to network with their peers, reconnect with Mother Nature and reconnect with themselves.
12
CONNECT
The first adventure featured a fall photography hike around Ongoing adventures will continue once a month, connecting Harriman State Park, followed by an art and wine tour in ADC’s membership on a deeper and more meaningful experiential level. See more at adcglobal.org/adventureclub. historic Tarrytown, New York. ADC Adventurers saw the early morning reflection of stunning fall foliage in a lake, explored an abandoned mine, took in the highest peak at Harriman and then relaxed and chatted about the experience over wine in an art gallery.

CONNECT ADC GLOBAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA
As much as we want to connect with our membership and community in person whenever possible, the ADC Global Network also seeks to connect with its many incredible international members, sharing inspiration and conversation with all of them across borders.
14
CONNECT
FACEBOOK The ADC Global Facebook page has just crossed over 50,000 likes. Each day we engage our network with discussions around design, events, photographs, new advertising campaigns and more, both to share interesting finds and information, as well as to seek their opinions and thoughts. We learn a lot about what our members and community want and need through what they share with us.
TWITTER The ADC Global Twitter page has just less than 25,000 engaged followers, oftentimes dis- cussing similar topics to those shared on the Facebook page, but allowing for instantaneous interaction, feedback and multiplication of discussion in real time. This page, along with the Twitter pages for ADC Young Guns, IHAVEANIDEA, Portfolio Night and Tomorrow Awards, also allow for live discussion and interaction during events at ADC Global in New York. The #hashtagged conversations are always projected on the event wall so that attendees can view and chime in to the discussion throughout the event, and easily track the conversation after the event for days to come.
INSTAGRAM + PINTEREST These two social media channels are used to share inspiration in the form of photos, images and videos primarily from the content produced throughout the ADC Global Network programs, but also that which is shared with us by our community and membership.

PROVOKE
IHAVEANIDEA is the community of the international advertising industry, one of the first and longest-running websites dedicated to advertising. Founded in 2001 by Ignacio Oreamuno, an art director at Ogilvy at the time, IHAVEANIDEA was conceived as an online resource for advertising professionals and lovers to share their knowledge and experience, with the belief that such an exchange would benefit all within the advertising industry.
Today, IHAVEANIDEA pairs its industry-loved Agency Profiles and Creatives interviews with a roster of contributing writers who include top chief creative officers and executive creative directors, as well as strategists, planners and advertising folk worldwide. A well-known and trusted resource for top creatives and emerging junior talent alike, IHAVEANIDEA strives to push buttons, and make people think, act, or at least reflect on the industry they profess to love, and to make a difference in both its current state and what it needs for a successful trajectory forward.

This site will continue to serve as a central ground not only to learn about the program and the diversely talented individuals who form its ranks, but also to allow them – a proud and tight-knit community – to connect with each other, learn about each others accomplishments and support each others’ endeavors. It will be equally inspiring for non-Young Gun site visitors, who will have the opportunity to witness these greats-under-30 and why they comprise this network.

ADC Hall of Fame laureates who have dedicated themselves to a creative life, and awed the world with what their insight and wisdom have produced deserve to be elevated with induction into an esteemed community of greats.
Those who break down creative boundaries and expose themselves as true emerging, often-unclassifiable talent under 30 deserve the elevation of ADC Young Guns recognition.
Those who have fought for the art of it all and those who have pushed to disregard the imposed boundaries of categorical work deserve to be awarded an ADC Cube or a Tomorrow Award.
Whether through educational programming like executive training, student portfolio reviews and the official Portfolio Night, or through the ADC Global Network’s awards and education programs, ADC is 100% committed to elevating its members and community.
