Expected Items: 1-Make a review of architectural programming chapter from www.wbdg.org and comment on why architectural programming is a crucial stage for architectural design. (20 points) 2-Create the following diagrams: (20 points) a-Architectural design process - YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION b-Building Programming Process - YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION 3-Comply with the following steps for this exercise: (60 Points) a-Find TWO house designS from TWO of the housing projects, (TOKİ, OYAK, DAPYAPI, SİNPAŞ, MESA, etc…) investigating their websites promoting these projects. 10pts. (on your selection)- Present the big picture! b-Pick THESE TWO house designS; each 3 or 4 Bedroom House, One or two storied, or within a housing block (i.e. an apartment unit). c-Create their bubble diagrams for spaces. 20 pts. d-Create two sets of matrix for space dimensions, character and specifications. e-Create the space adjacency matrices (interaction matrix) for the houses. 20 pts d&e. f-Make comment on the spatial design comparing these two houses. 10 pts.
A review of Architectural Programming Article from WBDG Architectural programming is as old as architecture. Decision, designing, building and occupation determine the structure. It means the programing. Also the archaeologists determine the their programs with excavations. Nowadays, architectural programming is defined as the research and decision-making process that identifies the scope of work to be designed. Major Influence
Architectural programming offers: • Involvement of interested parties in the definition of the scope of work prior to the design effort
Rapidly Declining Influence

• Emphasis on gathering and analyzing data early in the process so that the design is based upon sound decisions • Efficiencies gained by avoiding redesign and more redesign as requirements emerge during architectural design. So depends on these knowledge, we can say easily the architectural Planning and Schematic Design Construction Programming Design Development Documents Construction programming provide to see the probable changes at the beginning of the project. Because, we design with the programming principles that gives the guide of making decisions. Thanks to early changing, we can ensure the better time-quality-cost triangle.

How it can do? The architectural programming provide the balance through dependency. The dependencies of the architectural programming are tangible research, determined goals and objectives, prepared identify strategies, determined quantitative requirements and the summarized program as a result. Whole these phases provide balance of each process of building.

Stage Turkuaz Stage Turkuaz presents a calm life through nature life that contains birds, trees and etc., being far away from city life, secure environment. With these features, the costumer profile is above the average economic status and families. In this stage, 4A.T and 4B.T house designs selected, cause of being same position with different shape. Impact of shape is wanted to understand on spatial conditions.

Comparing Comment on Spatial Designs between 4A.T and 4B.T
4A.T
In this design, generally separate two life styles are aimed as daily-routine and private lifes. The living room, the kitchen, and the room are being for daily-routine life, the bedrooms and also bathrooms are being for private life. It can be understood from terrace. Also terrace almost separated to 2 stage. There is a weak connection between parts of terrace. This privacy shows the house for families that have more individual life. Far from collective family structure. Also it means, the house separates strictly your visitors and your private life.
4B.T
In this design, as opposite of the 4A.T, returns of the being smaller shape, generally there are more collective life. There are almost same spatial units, but their organization or interaction is more intertwined. This spatial organization gives more common life for each phase, also its terrace focuses on only common areas. You can almost directly changes your current position easily.
Evaluation
These projects show us the effect of the shape on spatial organization. You can design more individual space with more area, opposite of the first come to mind. Also the less area can be more collective. Even the building, the project, and the city are same. Spatial organization is important to determine using on designs.
