PRINTMAKING WITHOUT A PRESS
Selma Bromberg, Kelly Slater, Laura Sheffield | Artists Begin (or continue!) your printmaking practice in this online class . This class will be divided into 3 parts, each led by a different instructor, and will explore different printmaking techniques including relief printmaking, monotype printing, and more . Using demonstrations, inspiring examples, and other resources, we will practice our skills and share our work in a relaxed and creative atmosphere . No previous art experience required, only a curiosity about printmaking . Each term, techniques will be introduced and expanded on . AQUA EFFIGIES: THE PORTRAIT IN WATERCOLOR
Bryan Ramey | Artist, artbyramey.com In this workshop, we will explore the portrait in the inspirational medium of watercolor . We will discuss how to approach the portrait, proportions and structure of the head . The instructor, Bryan Ramey, will explain how he approaches watercolor by breaking down color choices, compositions, and values of light/shadow in order to construct a solid foundation for the painting . The instructor will demonstrate how to put a portrait together from start to finish using both realistic and abstract techniques. We will finish the day with everyone working through a portrait from planning to completion . Basic watercolor experience is recommended but not required .

SHIBORI TIE-DYE WORKSHOP

Shibori is a traditional Japanese resist dye technique that uses a variety of textile manipulation methods to produce different patterns when the fabric is immersed in indigo dye. Experiment with tying, folding, stitching, compressing, and twisting fabric to create your own unique shibori masterpiece . Please have up to 2 yards of fabric, or kitchen towels, a t-shirt, a scarf or pillowcase; the dye process works best on white, pre-washed, 100% cotton fabrics . A full supply list will be provided prior to the class .

WOOD CARVING WITH SMALL TOOLS

STAINED GLASS AT HOME
Michel L’Huillier | Stained Glass and Fusing Artist In the comfort of your home, create a stained glass panel with guidance provided during synchronous and asynchronous classes . All the tools needed will be provided to you along with supplies necessary for one large 12” x 18” stained glass panel. You will meet online on Zoom weekly with your instructor for a step by step demonstration, basic skill-building, and troubleshooting, if necessary . You’ll have access to short videos of your instructor demonstrating the different processes. You will be provided with a simple geometric stained glass pattern along with glass bevels and a choice of 6 glass sheets to create your own original stained glass window . The window will be framed with precut zinc channels for you to proudly display your masterpiece . The kit, including the tools and glass, costs $285 and you must pay the fee directly to the instructor after you register . Instructions for purchasing the kit and choosing the glass options will be emailed to you . The kit will be available for pickup at CCAE at 42 Brattle Street on Saturday, April 3, 10am-12pm . Please register by March 24 to ensure the instructor can secure supplies for your kit .
