Antique Fire Apparatus Show August 7, 10 AM - 3 PM The Cradle of Liberty Antique Fire Apparatus Association (CLAFAA) will be hosting a show featuring old and modern fire apparatus, antique ambulances, police vehicles and tow trucks. There will be fire apparatus from the 1700’s all the way up to today. There will also be a fire service related flea market, fire safety displays, activities for children and food and refreshments.

Cooper River Cyclo-cross/CRCX Race October 15, 8 AM - 2:30 PM Cooper River Cyclo-cross/CRCX is a form of bicycle racing that takes place mostly on grass with lots of turns and obstacles that force riders to dismount, carry the bike over barriers and upstairs, then remount as quickly as possible. The races are timed between 30-60 minutes and consist of multiple laps over a 1.6 mile course. The course is completely viewable from Park Boulevard so it’s great for spectating. Local vendors, including food trucks, will be on hand for food and refreshment. A kids race will take place around 12:00 so bring the whole family. There is a full range of categories including beginners, masters and professional for both men & women. USA Cycling license is required to participate. This is a rain or shine event. The Steward of Open Space in Camden County is a volunteer program formed in 2010 to assist the county in its efforts to keep lands purchased through the county Open Space Preservation Trust free of litter and illegally dumped waste. To date, more than 250 volunteers have signed up, helping to remove more than 65 tons of littler and debris from these lands. We will meet at and have a tour of the Camden County Parks Environmental Center. The center is a Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building that features a green roof, a rainwater collection tank and rain garden. We will walk the trails along Cooper River, around Evans Pond and the 80 acre Croft Farm. There are a large variety of native and non-native plants along the river and the area is a good birding location. Michael will identify the area’s flora and fauna and discuss SJLWT projects in and around Camden County. The trail may be muddy, please wear appropriate footwear. Bring your camera and binoculars. The beautiful Challenge Grove Park is home to a variety of amenities, all fully accessible, to serve Camden County residents.
