Purpose:

To support the General Manager & Head of Natural Environment in the running of Botton estate. Helping with the efficient running of the estate’s infrastructure and communal areas.

Salary:

£25,000- £28,000 per year

Hours:

37.5 hours per week

Length of post: 6 months

We have an opening for you to join us as an Estates Co-ordinator. The role will involve working across Botton Estate, ensuring property checks are carried out, the village centre is attractive and well maintained and providing a support service to the wider community in aspects such as grounds maintenance, furniture moving, meter readings and other estates related tasks. Duties and Responsibilities: Main responsibilities: ❖ You will be responsible for Estates Worker, Grounds Operative and Domestic Assistant ❖ Ensuring there is a schedule in place for all maintenance tasks and managing the community budget for all maintenance, repairs, and renovations to community buildings, households and estate grounds ❖ Responsible in ensuring all shared community buildings and empty properties are regularly checked and are compliant with health and safety/fire regulations. Ensuring service and inspection documentation is in place and up to date across the site raising issues directly with designated leads. ❖ Undertake land maintenance and property repairs including, for example, leaf collection, gritting, filling pot-holes, grass cutting, strimming, spraying, drain jetting / pumping, drainage repairs, fencing, walling, hedge laying, tree planting, weeding, pruning, cleaning gutters/sheds, biomass boiler cleaning, minor building repairs and painting ❖ Implement maintenance works within the grounds to ensure the maintenance plan is in place and undertook ❖ Undertake training and continuous professional development in accordance with the needs of the service and the people we support. ❖ Conduct regular fire drills and test fire alarms systems to an agreed timetable. ❖ Liaise with the General Manager on all Health & Safety matters. ❖ Conduct regular risk assessment on the facilities in conjunction with the General Manager. ❖ Follow COSHH regulations, in particular the storage of hazardous substances. ❖ Adhere to monitoring systems that ensure the communal community facilities are kept clean and tidy. ❖ Adhere to systems that ensure all storage areas are kept tidy and utilised to their best effect. ❖ Assist with setting up, dismantling, and stewarding of events and in-hand farm including, for example, signage, fencing, transport of materials, site supervision and attendance during events to assist as necessary ❖ To ensure community asset register including vehicles is kept updated and is regularly reviewed. Work with designated leads to ensure equipment is being used to its full potential and to make recommendations for more efficient ways of working ❖ Undertake machinery maintenance and keep all machinery, equipment and premises clean and tidy. 3


Person Specification Experience ❖ With previous experience (minimum 3 years) in a similar role you must be "hands on" and be able to demonstrative general gardening and ground maintenance tasks. ❖ Physically fit you must be able to work with a range of estate and garden tools and equipment. ❖ Proven capability in using a wide range of equipment and machinery. ❖ You must be hardworking, have a flexible approach and willing attitude. ❖ Willingness to complete essential training and development courses as deemed necessary for this role, particularly essential Health & Safety training. ❖ Workable IT knowledge and use of computer programs. E.g., Word, Outlook

Skills and knowledge ❖ Working knowledge of risk assessment, health and safety ❖ Basic computer skills – Word / Excel / regular email communication. ❖ Ability to follow Health and Safety policies & procedures. ❖ Tractor driving experience or willingness to learn (desirable) ❖ Forklift truck certification (desirable)

Abilities ❖ Be able/flexible to work on weekends as required and attend occasional events / markets. ❖ Ability to carry out physical work/manual labour. ❖ A desire to promote others to do their work on the land in an inclusive way. ❖ Able to be sensitive, yet objective, about the needs of adults with learning difficulties. ❖ Able to understand and interpret relevant verbal and non-verbal communication. ❖ Good social and oral communication skills. ❖ Able to motivate and organise self and others. ❖ Flexible, with good problem-solving skills.

Qualifications ❖ Reasonable general education (evidence of numeracy and literacy). ❖ A recognised qualification in horticulture / agriculture is desirable.

Other requirements ❖ Clean (not more than 3 points) driving licence essential.

We’re quite unique: our 1,000-acre estate has multiple living accommodations but loads of additional features. There’s a village shop, café, supported homes, a walled garden, woodworking and creative studios, a lego studio, massive greenhouses, a 200 seater theatre and stunning scenery at every turn. Many of the people we support have been with us for many years. Our longest resident, June, has been living at Botton Village for 50 years. We are a charity and have been in existence for almost 70 years.
