Croft Community, Malton GOOGLE MAP Working as part of the Croft Community workshop team to support adults with learning disabilities and others that use our services, to access the opportunities for work and development that exist in the Kingfisher café, garden, textiles, crafts, enterprise and other workshops which run at Croft and also in the local community. £19,500 per year (You will be paid every four weeks at £10.00 per hour)

Who are we looking for? •
You will have a desire to support people achieve a life full of opportunities. Experience in not needed but an understanding of the importance of supporting someone to have autonomy in their life is. • You’ll have a supportive and encouraging natural approach. • You’ll have a good general education, good numeracy and literacy skills: it’s not essential for you to have any qualifications as we will support you in gaining these. • You’ll be responsible for ensuring that care and support is of a high standard, focused on person centered outcomes and delivered within budget • Experience working within a catering or retail workshop setting, working with plants and gardens and experience in craft/textiles or production work. • Someone who is also keen to help arrange local and community-based events with the people we support. You’ll have a creative spirit and be keen to get involved or help create events e.g. coffee mornings, film clubs ….. 2

About Croft Community and the service: Croft Community is a vibrant community for adults with learning and other disabilities and mental health conditions, situated in Malton, North Yorkshire. We support amazing people to realise their potential. Many of our community members live on site in a mixture of shared houses and independent flats, or in our housing around the town.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
Support the people who use our services, to take advantage of the meaningful work and opportunities within Croft Community workshops, and, where appropriate, support the obtaining of accredited qualifications and learning, development and progression.
2.
Work to the risk & needs assessments and support plans of the people we support so that they can take part in, and meaningfully contribute to, the workshop activity and have the opportunity to experience variety and progression.
3.
Support the operation of the workshops, so that, where practicable, they operate in accordance with the trusts ethos and provides produce to high quality within the production timelines necessary to meet the needs of the community and for retail purposes.
4.
When trained, from time to time, supervise the workshop and those that work there.
5.
Work within the appropriate policies, procedures, practices and controls.
6. Ensure that appropriate recording and reporting arrangements are used to support and evidence that contractual and regulatory requirements are met, having particular regard to health and safety requirements. 7.
Keep all appropriate records and information in an orderly manner and on a timely basis, provide any information and documentation required. Prepare regular reports on the workshop activity as required to help make sure there is accurate and timely information available about the workshop.
8.
Undertake such other tasks as required individually or with others to develop and maintain the high quality of service required to fulfil the vison of the community. For example, actively participating in meetings and in relevant training.
9. Assisting the Workshop Managers in organising the workshop to support festivals.

A bit more about us and what we have at Croft Community:
We offer a programme of activities and supported work opportunities, including Kingfisher Café. Kingfisher Café in the heart of Malton, is a social enterprise supporting people with learning disabilities to gain experience in a busy café environment.
Get creative at our Craft Workshop! We make chocolates, decorative paper, candles, soaps and bath melts. You can also try flower-pressing, pottery and painting. Some of our products are made to order for retail, others are just for the enjoyment of developing our skills.
At Croft we also have a textiles workshop, this workshop offers a range of traditional and modern craft activities, including woodcrafts, weaving, felting, knitting and sewing. The people we support rediscover old skills and learn new ones.
At our market garden we grow fruit, vegetables, and herbs, providing Croft Community members and Kingfisher Café with delicious homegrown fresh produce.
