Purpose:
To lead and organise Support staff to deliver support and care to tenants and other people using our services, to support tenants to fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion and control
Salary:
£23,868 (NB: This is on a four-week payment cycle meaning you get paid 13 times per year at £12.24 per hour)
Hours:
37.5 hours Monday to Sunday, rotating shifts

Who are we looking for? •
You’ll have experience of managing teams of Support Workers, supporting adults with learning disabilities, elderly support or those with dementia.

You may be looking for that ideal role where you can help and guide Support Workers in meeting the individual needs of the people we support: you’ll also enjoy taking people out to participate in the activities they love.

You’ll need a driving license ideally: not only to get to Botton Village but also to use our pool cars so you can take people out on daily activities.

People with a supportive and encouraging natural approach: you’ll be naturally skilled in Support Work but also a great leader, communicator, counsellor and inspiration for those around you. You’ll be the sort of person that people naturally want to follow.

A bit about us: We’d love you to join our fantastic and dedicated team to be part of the community, working closely with the people we support. We’re quite unique: there’s a village shop, café, supported homes, a walled garden, woodworking and creative studios, a lego studio, massive greenhouses, a 200 seater theatre and stunning scenery at every turn. Many of the people we support have been with us for many years. Our longest resident, June, has been living at Botton Village for 50 years. We are a charity and have been in existence for almost 70 years. 3
Main Responsibilities: 1. Plan and organise the delivery of support and care by your team, ensuring that there are up-todate person-centred needs assessments, support plans and risk assessments in place that are regularly reviewed: o Incidents, complaints, accidents and near-misses are appropriately recorded, and there are adequate records and rotas in place to evidence the provision of support and care 2. Ensuring tenants receive support and care in accordance with their person-centred needs assessments, o Supervising Support Workers to provide plans and risk assessments to foster their wellbeing and development and fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion and control by, for example:
o

encouraging and supporting the tenants to maintain clean, tidy and welcoming living environment
▪
supporting tenants to use appropriate laundry equipment enabling them to do their laundry and look after their clothing
▪
planning, shopping and preparing healthy and wholesome meals alongside the tenants, taking into account their choices and wishes
▪
supporting tenants to maintain their health and well-being by assisting them to arrange and attend medical appointments
▪
supporting and encouraging tenants to maintain an active and supportive social life taking into account individual choices and wishes
Provide access training and support
3. Ensure tenants receive their housing related support by enabling tenants to look after their finances (developing appropriate budgeting and financial training including support to access benefits and maintain them and assist them to understand and maintain their tenancy) o
Assisting tenants to access services from the landlord including to access maintenance services and reporting non-functioning safety and security measures.
4. Assist with and arrange for the regulated activity of personal care (e.g. bathing, hair washing etc) ensuring compliance with Care Quality Commission Essential Standards and ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to at all times. 5. Ensure safety around the management of medications ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to; including thorough and detailed risk assessment, encouraging self-administration when appropriate and ensuring the safe administration of medication for others. 6. Liaise professionally with tenants’ parents, social workers and others to make sure that the network of support around each tenant is functioning effectively. 7. Support, supervise, direct and mentor Support Workers to: o
Provide a high quality of support and care,
o
Making sure they complete their induction and have individual learning plans that are regularly reviewed and updated,
o
Are supervised regularly, supervision and conduct records kept.
8. Work within the Trusts’ policies and procedures and actively promote the equality, diversity and the rights of tenants. 9. Supervise the activity of any staff or contractors working in or around the properties (e.g. cleaners, maintenance men, gardeners, cooks etc). 4
Experience We’d like you to have at least three years previous experience of working within a care or support setting, ideally with adults with learning disabilities, with at least one year at a more senior level, but we’re quite flexible for the right person
Qualifications A reasonable general education Good computer literacy specifically across the Microsoft suite of products Good communication skills, literacy and numeracy An understanding of the CQC Essential Standards requirement: if you’re not up to date with this, we will train you
Skills and knowledge A working knowledge of health and safety, risk assessment, safeguarding, person centred support and care planning, first line supervision and equalities

A bit more about us and what we have at Botton Village:
We have our own dairy herd of 20 cows who produce over 100,000 litres of milk each year to make our award-winning Dale End Cheddar cheese
The people we support have a wide range of activities they can participate in or learn. Many of the items we make are sold in our shops or online
Many of the people we support like to go on outings or trips to the seaside. You’ll need to provide your own bucket and spade if you want to make sandcastles though!
Our craft workshops provide creative experiences in woodworking, textiles, pottery and art.
You’ll be joining a dedicated team of care professionals, many of whom have been with us for over 5 years.
