This is the first volume in a new series of picture books by Tore Renberg and Øyvind Torseter. Ine and Hasse are sister and brother. Ine is the older one and can fix everything. Hasse doesn't say much, only ‘yes’ or ‘tractor’. They are going to cut down a tree in the forest and Ine carries the axe, of course. Soon, all the forest animals turn up to find out what's going on. The text is playful and charming, with overtones of jingles. The beautiful illustrations are based on cut-and-fold technique. Gi gass, Ine received the Ministry of Culture's Award for Best Picture Book 2010.

In the end, Leif finds a teddy bear and hurries back the way he came. He falls asleep in his bed – the whole adventure took place in his own back garden! The Dragon Hunt Dragejakten There are many types of fairytale, but nothing beats a proper one involving dragons and a spoiled princess. The princess demands a new gift every day, and each should be better than the last according to her wishes. For her birthday she demands a dragon, and all that the King can do is to call together the strongest and bravest men in the entire kingdom – whichever man brings him a dragon will be rewarded with one half of the kingdom and the princess' hand in marriage (once she's old enough, at least). A poor boy hears about the challenge and manages to get his hands on a dragon's egg… A heart-warming tale with an original and amusing conclusion!

The Lamb That Didn’t Want to Be Chop Lammet som ikke ville bli lår
Charming, subtle, wise and slightly bombastic discussion of the place animals take in the world (A-animals, B-animals, C-animals, X-animals, Y-animals, Z-animals...). The wise old hound with the doctorate in herding leads the discussion with the rather dim-witted shepherd, who might not be very good at herding, but is rather good at finding things. Come along and join us in the fantastic world of Thorbjørn Egner! No other books have left such an impression on children growing up in Norway as these books have; the songs, the texts and the characters have become national institutions. And because Thorbjørn Egner was both the illustrator and the writer, the relationship between the pictures and texts is bound in a very special way. Very few authors get closer to the child’s imagination than Egner does. Karius and Baktus has also been immortalized in Ivo Caprino’s puppet film, and a fullscale Cardamom Town has been built at Kristiansand Zoo. Not only are Egner’s stories performed on stage in many countries, his books have, to date, been translated into 21 languages. And despite being published more than 50 years ago, they are still as popular as ever.
‘The brilliance of Egner comes from his ability to tell his stories in such a way that children can understand and fantasize about them. The fantastic and adventurous tales are stamped with a naïve and authentic label.’ Tordis Ørjasæter on Egner’s authorship Thorbjørn Egner’s books are sold to: bulgaria, china, denmark, faroe islands, finland, france, Georgia, germany, hungary, iceland, israel, italy, japan, korea, latvia, the netherlands, poland, romania, russia, sweden, turkey and usa

Hope, said the Goose Håpe, sa gåsa Illustrated by Kaia Linnea Dahle Nyhus
A lovely collection of animal poetry from one of our foremost picture book creators. As the title suggests, a very special goose takes centre stage. Some of the poems are amusing, whilst others are poignant, philosophical or simply curious. Goose is fond of swan, with his long and elegant neck. It's not all bad being a goose though – especially when the swan whispers beautiful words to her.
Gro Dahle (1962–) writes for both children and adults. As a children's book writer she
is known for her poetic books on themes that are often given little attention. Her poetry collections Regnværsgåter and Hundre tusen timer have solid places in the canon of modern Norwegian poetry. She has also published novels and short stories.

This time around she has had some help from the award-winning illustrator Bendik Kaltenborn; together they have created a universe within itself, where stones on a sloping mountainside can end up in intense discussion with one another, and a dachshund can make friends with a salmon without raising eyebrows. Rishøi's rhymes gesture teasingly towards the genre's great masters, such as Inger Hagerup and Andre Bjerke, whilst simultaneously showing great respect for their influence. First and foremost, the author has created poems for a new generation. Some are touching and tranquil, most are wild and wonderful, and what binds them all is their display of a seldomseen linguistic ingenuity.

Night of the Blood Moon Blodmånenatta Illustrated by Knut André Solberg
Kaspara lost her mother at sea, and is convinced that she now hovers restlessly over the waves, desperately in search of her daughter. Luckily, Kaspara lives in Vesterålen, where trolls still live in the mountains, and the Huldra, water sprite, and the hill people are never far away. If she can remain strong enough not to be charmed, wily enough not to be stolen away to the hillsides and stubborn enough not to be lured down in the cold watery depths, perhaps Kaspara can persuade the forces of the underworld to help bring her mother home. Blodmånenatta is a magical and amusing tale of sorrow, courage and a girl who never, ever gives up.

But nothing turns out quite as expected, and when Linda is finally close to achieving her aims, everything changes. All of a sudden, we hear a very different story...

The Demigods Halvgudene One day, the lives of the triplets Dina, Balder and Thea turn all topsy-turvy. The ten-year-olds are thrown out of a monotonous school day and into a strange world where nothing is what it seems. Not even the triplets themselves! Mari Moen Holsve has created a fantasy narrative filled with drama, unknown dangers and a satisfying dose of humour. This first part is about the familiar, the exciting and epic, the supernatural and the wonderfully unpredictable.

My Beating Heart Mitt bankande hjarte Mitt bankande hjarte deals with life at its finest and also its most awful. Amanda is fourteen years old and in love. At the same time, a dangerous illness threatens to rob her of everything: love and hope of being loved, life itself. But this is not a story about illness. It is a love story. What is it like for a young girl in love to be waiting for a heart transplant? Rights sold to: Germany (Carlsen)
‘Mitt bankande hjarte is both a description of illness and an extremely well told love story. … It is realistic, sad and romantic at the same time.’ Litteraturavisen Bokstaver
‘Alf Kjetil Walgermo creates a dramatic story filled with hope and doubt – the sometimes optimistic alternating with increasingly depressive periods. … That reader hardly exists who is unaffected – and who does not feel the strain on the body it is to live in uncertainty everyday – when one is young and should have a long life to live. … Mitt bankande hjarte has an intense nerve – written with empathy and insight.’ Gjengangeren
This is what a 15 year-old girl wrote about Mitt bankande hjarte in a blog tournament arranged by Cappelen Damm:
92
‘… Alf Kjetil Walgermo’s writing is fantastic. He manages to reflect Amanda in such a way that you would almost think it was Amanda herself who had written the book. How a teenaged girl goes through both falling in love, sorrow and fear. I don’t know what is the most impressive; that he is a man, or that he is 34 years old. Regardless, he has a wonderful way with words, and I must admit that I have both smiled and cried for Amanda. … And one thing is certain: I will definitely become an organ donor.’
The big building looked a little more modern than the hospital at home. But the hospital smell was the same. A slightly suspicious odour of medicine and metal. Jenny’s house didn’t smell the same as Eli’s house, or Trond’s house for that matter. But hospitals were different. Maybe hospitals smelled the same wherever you were? I shivered. I’d probably be here for the next few weeks, without seeing David even once. That was probably the worst thing about having a heart that’s too large. After we had danced together and everything. It wasn’t all that easy easy to dance with someone who was 300 miles away in a hospital bed.
▶ Yo u n g Adu lt s & Crossov e r
The hospital visit had tired me out. I slept all night. I slept on the flight to Oslo, too. I didn’t wake at all until Mum and Dad shook me gently to let me know that we had reached the hospital in Oslo.
A heart doctor named Rune greeted me. He had short brown hair and white teeth that gleamed when he opened his mouth. ‘Can you find out what’s wrong with my heart?’ I asked. ‘Luckily for you, that’s exactly what we’re best at, Amanda,’ he said. ‘We’ll treat you like a princess.’ I started to like Rune. I needed to feel like a princess now. Especially with my prince so far away.

The World Liberators Verdensredderne New, freestanding book about Emilie, with whom we are already acquainted from Stranger's last young person's novel, Barsakh. In this new text, Emilie becomes involved in a youth protest group known as The World Liberators. The protest group is made up of young people of Emilie's age and a little older, and gives an outlet for their opinions on issues such as child labour, cruelty to animals, etc. Things begins with innocent protests, but soon develop into something increasingly more advanced – not to mention risky. Verdensredderne is a thrilling political novel for young people.

Opposition
A Young Person’s Anthology
Mot What is opposition? When do you show opposition? What are you opposed against? Who do you oppose? Who is opposed to you? Nine of Norway's top writers of young peoples' literature were given the word ‘opposition', and this anthology is the result. Aron makes off with a cardboard box of kittens. Boye finds a can of spraypaint and does something he shouldn't. Erling feels like he's playing a game he doesn't know the rules to. Emma won't accept an apology from her headteacher. Thomas is the hero of the hour. Or is he...? Magnus wants to be one of the boys, and tonight he has to prove that he has what it takes. «She» stands at the window, naked from the waist up. So that he'll see her. «He» stands there – not able to do anything else... Someone wants to fight, but «I» don't want to any longer. «I» want something else entirely.

Clan of the Horses Hestenes klan Bonnevie’s debut is a true page-turner whilst remaining a beautiful tribute to nature. It tells the story of a 17-year-old girl and a horse, about survival and being torn apart, and of love and finding oneself, in spite of and not because of one’s parents. Hestenes klan is a mystical and mythical story about the relationship between humans and animals. Amanda Fivel loves horses. Her father loves gambling. When Amanda wins a competition with her jump racing horse Monty, her father puts a reckless bet on Amanda winning the national championship – in a competition for Icelandic horses! Amanda has absolutely no experience with this breed of horse, let alone competed with one. This is a whole new game, and she has 90 days to get ready.

Ida Ida
Illustrated by Esther van Hulsen
47 million years ago there lived an ape-like little creature in a jungle in Germany. Today she is best known to the world as the fossil Ida. In this wonderful, illustrated picture book we learn how she lived and how we know what we do about her today. When paleontologist Jørn Hurum introduced Ida to the world's media in 2009, she became a scientific sensation. Ida is our very own 47 million year old ancestor, and this picture book written by Jørn Hurum and Torstein Helleve from the Natural History Museum and illustrated by Esther van Hulsen brings Ida to life once again. The reader is taken on a journey to the jungle that Ida lived in as part of a stunningly illustrated tale of her life, where we follow her through dangers and triumphs. In addition to a fictionalised picture book section based on what we know about Ida and the time that she lived, the book also includes a fact and activity section.
Jørn Hurum (1967–) is a palaeontologist and science communicator. He has collected fossils since childhood and written several factbooks. Torstein Helleve (1964–) is a web editor at the Natural History Museum. This is his first book. Esther van Hulsen was born in Leeuwarden in The Netherlands and has studied at
Academy Minerva in Groningen. She has a BA in Communication Design and has been educated in scientific illustration.

Kirsti Blom and Geir Wing Gabrielsen
Seabirds of the Arctic Sjøfuglene i Arktis A new book in Kirsti Blom's Brage Prize nominated and critically acclaimed Polar series. Through text and fantastic photographs, Kirsti Blom and researcher Geir Wing Gabrielsen invite the reader to join them far north and up to Svalbard, where the seabirds live. The northern fulmars glide majestically in the wind and the only thing we can see of the guillemots are their beaks protruding from the snow. The puffins are the parrots of the sea whilst the auk chatters like a little king, and the arctic skuas happily steal everyone else's food. Even under the extreme conditions, the small birds manage to survive. They endure the threat posed by polar foxes and other birds, and yet are vulnerable to oil spills and overfishing. The birds far north also provide a picture of the condition of planet Earth. A captivating book about exotic birds.
Kirsti Blom (1953–) is first and foremost a writer of fiction, but she also publishes nonfiction for children.
Geir Wing Gabrielsen is a senior research scientist at the Norwegian Polar Institute.

Vikings Vikinger Illustrated by Elin Maria Bugge
For thousands of years, Norway was a country at the edge of the world, deemed unimportant in terms of world history. Major and minor events occurred in Europe without anyone once thinking about Norway, but throughout the 270 years of the Vikings, all that changed.
