THE PHIL SMITH FAMILY BUILDING NEW FACILITY PROJECT UPDATE The second floor has been formed, reinforced and poured. Second floor CMU has been set. Second floor columns and beams have been formed, reinforced, inspected and poured. Rooftop hollow core planks have been set and grouted for the north and south ends. The rooftop parapet CMU has been completed, and final tie columns have been formed, reinforced, inspected and poured. Roof trusses have also been set. Sheathing and fascia installation is currently ongoing. Installation of roofing materials will begin in late June/ early July 2020. Window installation will commence in early July 2020. The shell will be demobilized by the end of June, with all attention shifting toward Dry-in. Photo: Roof top hollow core planks were set and grouted in preperation for parapet CMU installation.

The addition of the Phil Smith Family Building will strengthen and expand STEAM and music curriculum and programs at Cardinal Gibbons, while affording students new opportunities to develop and hone their skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. The Phil Smith Family Building will feature an Engineering Lab, choral room and secondary practice space, band studio, digital music lab, a Genius Room and television editing and production studios, as well as collaborative STEAM classrooms and labs.
