PROJECT The project we are presenting is intended to create an archaeological park, and to establish within this park new architectural structures for the realization of important existing historical, cultural and religious elements.

the city. The ancient part is vitally connected to the new one, therefore is not to be planned independently from it. The project area is composed of three main elements, which are going to be the fundamental points of the new project: landscaping, buildings and routes.

The goals of the project are as follows: - Pilgrimage to the holy buildings - Visit to the museum - Visit to the archaeological area - Reception and resting of the visitors The area of interest consists of a large, mainly archaeological zone surrounded by the recently developed part of

The LANDSCAPING will involve both the archaeological area (shadowing) and the recent one. The PATHS (mainly suitable for vehicles) of the recent part are to be used in order to reach the archaeological area. Within it, several pedestrian paths will be located, either based on the archaeological remains, created by actual use, or determined by the hypothetical cartogra-

connecting museum, archaeological area and holy buildings.

The existing BUILDINGS, mosques and museum, are the main attractions of the site, and will be supported by new elements: coverings, equipped areas, and a hammam will also be located near to the mosque for the reception of pilgrims.

PHASE TWO: Intensification of the connections between equipped areas and holy buildings, expansion of the pedestrian paths among the attractions and within them, such as the museological walk inside the ruins of the Al Imar Palace. Finally, outlining the future areas for the archaeological excavations.

The project is intended to be permanently evolving. Different phases are expected: PHASE ONE: Realization of an autonomous system with covered equipped areas and location of the main paths

FOLLOWING PHASES: Intensification of the tasks accomplished in the previous phases, which will be repeated in different places and timing, according to the needs, in order to create a process of non-stop development.
