ILAM EVENTS
Salam Sejahtera and again we meet for another info packed issue, which is part of our efforts to reach you and ensure you are informed about what’s happening in the landscape architecture industry. For the past 6 months, we were working around the clock to host and collaborate with several private organisations to develop landscape architecture related activities, and we are here to bring you the coverage of those events. This year marks our 8 th year of Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA) which was organised successfully in early April and attended by more than 700 guests from the industry. The awards gala also highlighted various outstanding projects from various categories and among the highlight this year is the inaugural Young Landscape Architect Award. Earlier this year, we also collaborated with MCT Berhad to jointly organise the MCT Cybersouth Landscape Design Competition, to discover outstanding concepts for the upcoming Cybersouth Central Park. The event gained more than 20 submissions and involved 2 rounds of judging and presentations before selecting the best design. We are also privileged to share the top 5 best designs in this issue of Bulletin Landskap. The yearly Royal Floria Putrajaya, which took place in Putrajaya at the end of May and early June also displayed our strong commitment to showcase landscape architects’ roles in this prestigious public event. This year, ILAM was involved in 3 major areas, including the Designer Gardens, Garden Jury Session and the inaugural Royal Floria International Dialogue. We hope you will enjoy reading this issue and gain some insights about the best design ideas through award winning projects. Looking forward to upcoming events, we have lined up international study trip to Bangkok and also our yearly MLAA Calling for Entries in October. Keep following us via our Facebook and website. Lastly, to all the newly elected ILAM Council Members for the 2016/2018 session, congratulations and we hope the new team will bring in greater energy and enthusiasm which will help to elevate our profession to new and greater heights. “Selamat Menyambut Hari Kebangsaan ke-59 dan Hari Malaysia”. Thank you.

Lepironia Gardens, Setia Eco Glades Setia Eco Glades Sdn. Bhd.
The Lepironia Gardens were designed to encapsulate a sense of peace, calm and tranquility within the development. Thus, a fresh man-made waterway was carefully designed as the main attraction. The design enhances the value of the entire site by replanting original site vegetation partly from transplanted trees and wetland plants. The Lepironia Gardens were crafted with an eco-landscape approach, which inpires human integration with nature. This approach is not only focused on the importance of conservation and preservation but also creates awareness among the community about the need for a sustainable environment.

Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh eZe3 or Easy Electronic Tree Data Collection is an innovation of Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh on tree inventory and data collection for the city. Over the years, issues such as the enforcement of tree protection have become difficult due to lack of information about tree data in the city. Conventional tree data collection consumed longer time, manpower and paper work. Through the invention of GPS and mobile technology, a new user-friendly app is here to execute the data collection and tagging of each tree using a ‘Geo Tagging’ method from the location, updated real time.

Mirage
The garden concept is to perceive the ‘magic of mirage’ and ‘exclusive characters’ of chrysanthemum flowers in a contemporary touch. Elements chosen include the bakau tree, an interactive entrance pathway, bottle lanterns etc. engaged with the tinge, creating enchanted effects in perfect harmony with nature.
Each year, ILAM is involved in the Designer Gardens showcase and this year, inline with the theme of Magical Gardens, the 5 landscape architects from ILAM lined up with their best designs.
LAr. Siti Maisarah Salahudin
LAr. Samsul Rohaizad Mohd Jemoner
In parallel with the ‘Magic of Floria’ theme, this garden concept represents a group of ‘Droots’ taking over ‘Mums Island’ which produces Sacred Balls. They desperately look for these powerful balls which are believed to prolong their lives & magical powers.
The garden design is an adaptation from the movie and novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’ with the adventure story of Alice in a fantasy land. The unique nature of this garden is the dimension and scale of things that transform the garden into an out of this world experience.
The Droots and the Mystic Mums
Wonderland Magical Garden
‘Droots’ = (Dwarfs+Roots) are small sized creatures with magical powers. ‘Mum’ = Chrysanthemum
LAr. Zainul Fadli Zaini
Magical Polygon Garden Petals on chrysanthemums are actually florets (a small flower, usually part of a dense cluster, especially one of the disks or ray flowers of a composite plant, such as a daisy) since both sexual parts (male/female) exist in each one. The chrysanthemum flower has two types of florets – ray florets, that would be called petals on a daisy, and disc florets, that are the centre florets in a daisy bloom. The garden portrays a very simple element as it zooms into the shape of the floret and petals, translates it as a flower dome, served as a focal element of the garden, that strongly reflects the theme flower, Chrysanthemum.
LAr. Ramly Hasan
1001 Nights Kingdom The garden was inspired by the epic story of Aladdin with the magical flying carpet and the genie from the magical lamp. Each of the garden elements brings the visitor into the magical story of 1001 Nights or sometimes known as the tales of Arabian Nights. The beauty of Princess Jasmine is reflected in the planting of Chrysanthemum flowers decorating the entire garden.
