In 10 Years, GlobalParts.aero has Evolved into Diverse Business GlobalParts.aero has evolved and grown dramatically since it was founded in 2003 as a spares and replacement parts business to primarily serve owners and operators of Beechcraft products. Its development into an industry leader in the distribution, repair, overhaul and manufacturing of spares and replacement parts has turned the Augusta, Kan.-based company into a resource for more than just aviation components. GlobalParts.aero’s original business focused on maintaining an inventory and providing rapid distribution of airplane parts to customers around the globe. In 2011, GlobalParts.aero expanded into repair and overhaul, forming a Federal Aviation Administration Part 145-certified repair station, becoming more of a single source for both rotable and unique replacement parts. The following year, GlobalParts.aero expanded its operations further, acquiring additional factory space and the purchase of high tech Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines, including a Makino Mag 1 machining center designed to accommodate work pieces up to 59 inches square. With this new in-house manufacturing capability, GlobalParts.aero became a viable resource for build-to-print components for other industries, in addition to aviation. GlobalParts.aero’s expansion into in-house manufacturing represented its commitment to a diverse customer base, as well as its dedication to providing parts that aren’t typically available off the shelf or at multiple sites. Most start-up fabricators are limited to producing small parts in the 24-inch by 24-inch range, but in 2012 GlobalParts.aero took a

purposeful step to broaden its capability. The company invested in Haas five-axis UMC-750s, the latest state-of-the-art machines, and a full five-axis contouring Makino Mag 1 that can machine aluminum at exceptionally high production rates with unwavering accuracy. The addition of the Okuma MILLAC 1000VH expanded the capabilities to hard metals, such as steal and titanium. GlobalParts.aero also uses coordinate measuring machines (CMM) with a Renishaw PH20 5-axis head, ROMER arms and Vericut verification to ensure the highest quality and precision. Besides becoming a leading supplemental source of quality parts for OEMS, in July 2013 GlobalParts.aero added another dimension to its expanding list of products and services with the acquisition of Pro Coaters Inc., a 15-year-old metal-finishing operation. Pro Coaters has an established reputation for quality workmanship for customers such as Cessna Aircraft Co., Gulfstream, Beechcraft and Bombardier. Located adjacent to GlobalParts.aero’s manufacturing operations, the metal-finishing enterprise provides an exceptionally durable and abuse-resistant finish to a myriad of parts and components. Powder coating is the application of a free-flowing, dry powder that does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in liquid form. Powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a “skin.” It is used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is considered environmentally friendly because it produces little or no waster or harmful residue. The powder-coating services have a variety of applications in aerospace and other industries.
