The High Collar

This basket is made using a two-color combination of reed attached to a solid wood base and an inserted handle. Dimensions are 7 to 8 inches high and 9 inches wide.
The Cookie Jar

This basket is woven over a gallon glass jar which helps retain the shape. Students may use a variety of reed sizes and colors and will receive a wooden lid.
The Swirl Basket

This basket is woven over a solid base with a divider that serves as a handle. The weaving up the side of the basket is continuous with different color reed added as the weaving progresses creating a “swirl” of color. The basket measures 10 inches wide by 7 high.
The Sturdy Market Basket

programming and events Bobcats and Bobwhites January 1, 2014 - January 17, 1014 10:00am – 5:30pm The intriguing work of painter Randy Hendricks, taxidermist Jan Van Hoesen, and classic bird prints by master printer M. Bernard Loates of John James Audubon’s work bring a wide variety of art for all to enjoy. The Card Wildlife Education Center, Ferris State University Art Gallery and Artworks have collaborated to bring the exhibit to Big Rapids.
Finally, “Bobcats to Bobwhites: Wildlife in Art” features another unique form of animal art. The “After Audubon” Collection, which is a traveling exhibit by Ferris State University, features a collection of prints by M. Bernard Loates of John James Audubon’s originals. “After Audubon” is a part of the Ferris’ collection and is a recreation of Audubon’s plates “Birds of America” collection.
Feel Good Opportunity for Artists & Fine Crafters Looking to the future, in August, 2014 Artworks in conjunction with Spectrum Health Reed City / Big Rapids are planning a Spectrum Health employee art show. Artists could win a cash prize for the “PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD” based on the votes visitors make for various pieces of your art on display at Artworks. A reception in honor of all participants is planned.
