<HAZE> Carter Blochwitz Haze Mag Editor Spring has come and the weather has turned warm at night. I hope to spend more time exploring my city when I have the time. In this issue I didn’t include the “Street” section as I felt it was becoming a bit stale and repetitive. In its place I have put another experiment: “In the Dark.” I wanted to convey some type of narrative with these photos--something gritty, and something mysterious. Many of the photos aren’t totally in focus or have a lot of noise, but I think I like the character that it gives them. As for the other sections, I really enjoy the photos I picked for “Night Walks” because of their colors and atmosphere. The phone booth photo in particular made me feel something special when I saw it. In addition, “Korea: On the Road” returns again and focuses on shapes, shadows and colors. There was a lot of great music that came out this month, but I tried to pick my two favorite albums out of the wonderful lineup of artistic works. Please enjoy issue 4 of Haze Magazine!
봄이 왔고 밤에 날씨는 어느덧 따뜻해졌습 니다. 제가 시간일 날 때 저가 사는 도시를 탐험하며 돌아다니는데 더 많은 시간을 보 낼 수 있기를 바랍니다. 이번 호에는 "스트리트" 섹션이 좀 진부해지고 반복되고 있다고 느꼈기 때문에 넣지 않았 습니다. 대신 “어둠 속에서”라는 섹션을 추가해 보았습니다. 이 섹션에서 여러분은 무언가 기괴하고 신비로운 사진을 볼 수 있을 것 입니다. 이 중 많은 사진은 완전히 초점이 맞지 않거나 노이즈 현상도 있지만 저는 그것들이 주는 독특함이 마음에 듭니다. 다른 섹션들에 대해 말해보자면, “Night Walks” 섹션을 위해 고른 사진들을 좋아 합니다. 그것들이 주는 색과 분위기 때문 이죠. 특히 공중전화 부스 사진은 제가 그것을 보았을 때 특별한 무언가를 느끼게 해주었습니다. 여러분은 어떻게 느끼는지 궁금하네요. 이번 달에 나온 훌륭한 음악 들이 너무 많아서 그중에서도 딱 두 개의 앨범을 고르느라 힘들었습니다. Reviews New Music Motomami Rosalía As far as sophomore efforts go, Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía has not let down the experimental and genre-bending sound that permeated through her first album. Motomami sets a dark tone with its first half, heavily leaning on latin reggaeton percussion lines and accenting her dynamic vocal range. In one of the album’s highlights, “La Fama”, a Spanish-singing Weeknd delivers an excellent duet with Rosalía about the curse of fame--singing of it as an unfaithful lover. From here the album gets weird, but maintains a consistent push and pull between love, desire, 장르 heartbreak, and isolation. Within this section, “Hentai” Experimental Pop Alt Reggaeton and “G3 N15” stand out as some of the most emotive vocal performances on the project. 분위기 Rosalía’s new reggaeton wave is here to stay. 양극성 미묘한

Reggae hasn’t seen a popular revival in modern music for many years, however a new era seems to be dawning with Koffee as one of its youngest proponents. Coming off the success of her 2019 EP Rapture, her debut album Gifted embraces the same positive lyricism and well-rounded production that previously won her a Grammy. As the album develops “Shine” stands out as an early gem, embracing the traditional reggae sound with booming bass and clean strums on the off beats. This sound evolves into dancehall later on the record with lively production on tracks like “Lockdown” and “Pull Up”, which have some of my favorite passages of music 추천하는 from the entire project. On the latter, the pitch bending “Pull Up” bass, filtered percussion, and Koffee’s delivery never fail to make me move and sing along. Undoubtedly this sound will continue to flourish.

Chicago is known for a great number of musicians and styles that have become widely popular over the years. Blues found its voice there, hip-hop has seen revolutionary figures rise in the city, and house music went through great evolutions in the Chicago clubs. However, the genre of footwork (aka “juke”) is one that was often not recognized outside of the Chicago community. This changed in part due to the revolutionary work of the producer DJ Rashad, whose DJ sets and original music blended the typically fast-paced, polyrhythmic
genre with many others. Though he only released one album before his death, the sounds he forged on Double Cup ultimately led to newfound interest for the Footwork genre in Europe, Asia, and across the world. His keen ear for sonics and arrangement made his work a gold standard for future producer in the genre. RIP DJ Rashad. 장르
