An eventful month

Gamblingul nu stă pe loc - aceasta este o certitudine. Este de ajuns să privim doar evenimentele care au avut loc în mai, atât pe plan intern, cât și pe plan internațional. Țara noastră a găzduit unul dintre cele mai importante evenimente din domeniul gamblingului, și anume Adunarea generală EUROMAT 2013 - European and Amusement Federation, federație care are ca misiune aceea de a crea un mediu cât mai propice în Uniunea Europeană pentru tot ceea ce reprezintă acest domeniul sensibil al jocurilor de noroc.. De asemenea, în perioada 21-23 mai, revista noastră - “Casino Life & Business Magazine” - a fost prezentă la Gambling Expo Belgrad, un renumit târg internațional din Serbia, unde am avut stand propriu și unde, de altfel, am fost singurii reprezentan]i mass-media din România. În plus, tot în luna mai, s-a instituit Consiliul Consultativ al Oamenilor de Afaceri din gamblingul autohton pentru Oficiul Național Pentru Jocuri de Noroc, care va avea posibilitatea să informeze autoritatea cu privire la aspectele din domeniul de referință, după cum a anunțat Guvernul României, prin biroul de presă. Actul normativ stabilește criteriile generale privind activitatea de monitorizare a jocurilor de noroc online și principalele reguli de funcționare a Comitetului de Supraveghere - structură deliberativă și decizională în domeniul jocurilor de noroc. O altă veste bună din domeniul jocurilor de noroc este faptul că turneul PokerFest își continuă cu succes etapele și chiar se internaționalizează, urmând ca două etape să fie jucate în Macedonia, la Gavgelija, în perioada 24-28 iunie. Turneul se va desfășura la Ramada & Princess Hotel and Casino. În octombrie, PokerFest va merge la Budapesta, în Ungaria. Această etapă internațională a PokerFest va fi gpăzduită de Casino Tropicana. O altă veste bună pentru jucători a venit de la Casino Metropolis, care a început vara în forță. Au fost acordate trei premii însumând 100.000 de dolari, garantate, la Casino Metropolis, pe 1 iunie. În plan internațional, publicația noastră - “Casino Life & Business Magazine” - a fost singurul partener media din România și la Woman in Gaming Awards 2013 - eveniment care aduce o recunoaștere atât tuturor liderilor de sex feminin care își desfășoară activitatea în industria cazinourilor, cât și a contribuției lor valoroase la succesul acestei afaceri. Gala internațională a avut loc pe 16 mai la Jumeirah Carlton Tower Ballroom, aflat în elegantul Knighsbridge din Londra, Marea Britanie. În Italia s-a desfășurat Campionatul European de Crupieri, unde învingătoare a fost românca Luiza Cărădeanu, care a și acordat un interviu în exclusivitate revistei noastre. Tot în luna mai a avut loc Eurpean Poker Tour de la Monte Carlo. Turneul a fost câștigat de Steve O’Dwyer, în timp ce marele jucător român Daniel Negreanu a ieșit pe locul al patrulea. La competiție au mai participat și al]i doi jucători din țara noastră, Toni Județ și Liviu Ignat, care au ocupat pozițiile 52, și respectiv 58. Publicația noastră - „Casino Life & Business Magazine” - a acoperit toate aceste evenimente, pentru ca dumneavoastră, cititorii noștri, să fiți în permanență la curent cu toate noutățile din domeniu, atât în paginile revistei, cât și pe site. De altfel, din luna mai avem, în fiecare vineri, news letterul săptămânii.

Gambling has no time to rest. We should just take a look at the events that came to pass in May, both here and abroad. Our country hosted one of the most important gambling events, namely the 2013 General Assembly of EUROMAT - European and Amusement Federation. This organization aims to build a favorable environment as possible in the European Union for everything that represents this delicate sector of gambling. Between 21 and 23 of May, our publication „Casino Life & Business Magazine” also attended Gambling Expo Belgrade, a famed international fair in Serbia, where we had our own booth as the only mass-media representatives from Romania. The Advisory Board of the Business People in the Romanian gambling for the National Gambling Office was established this month. This Board will have the possibility to inform the authorities about the reference issues in this industry, as the Romanian Government stated via its Mass-Media Office. The normative act sets up the general criteria regarding the monitoring activity of the online gaming and the main operating rules of the Monitoring Committee, a deliberative and decisional structure in gambling. Another good news comes from PokerFest tournament, which goes on with its events and even crosses borders. Two of its legs will be played in Gavgelija, Macedonia, between 24 and 28 of June. The host will be Ramada & Princess Hotel and Casino. In October, PokerFest will reach Budapest, in Hungary. This international leg of PokerFest will be hosted by Tropicana Casino. And we are not stopping here – Metropolis Casino came out strong this summer for the players. Three guaranteed prizes, amounting USD100,000, were given away at Metropolis Casino, on June 1. Going abroad, our publication ‚ Casino Life & Business Magazine’, was the only media partner from Romania at Woman in Gaming Awards 2013. This event acknowledges the female leaders in the casino industry and their valuable contribution to the success of this specific business. The international gala took place on May 16, at Jumeirah Carlton Tower Ballroom, located in the high-end Knighsbridge in London. Italy hosted the European Dealer Championship, where Romanian Luiza Caradeanu was crowned the winner and whose exclusive interview can be read in our pages. The European Poker Tour in Monte Carlo was won by Steve O’Dwyer, while the great Romanian player Daniel Negreanu placed on the fourth position. Two more Romanian players participated in the competition – Toni Judet and Liviu Ignat, who were ranked as 52 and 58, respectively. Our publication „Casino Life & Business Magazine” covered all the above events, to give you – our readers – the opportunity to be informed in due time about the latest in gambling, both in the magazine and on our site. Starting with May, the weekly newsletter will be another Friday pleasant reading for you.

➤ Ai 37 de ani și o carieră cu adevărat de invidiat în spate. Care a fost primul tău contact cu fotbalul și cum a fost, mai exact? Sunt foarte mulți ani de atunci. Primul contact a fost la Chindia Târgoviște, când aveam 15 ani. Am fost promovați de la echipa de juniori la echipa mare și de atunci am rămas și am jucat numai la echipa mare. ➤ Cum ai ajuns să joci fotbal? Am început să joc fotbal de la vârsta de șase ani. Taăl meu m-a dus la fotbal, a stat foarte mult în spatele meu, de multe ori m-a obligat, m-a forțat să joc fotbal. De foarte multe ori, mie îmi plăcea să joc mai mult baschet pentru că era mai frumos, mai lejer. Jucam în curtea școlii, eu în perioada aceea stăteam exact lângă școala la care am învățat, și era mult mai la îndemână. Ca să merg la fotbal, trebuia să merg în fiecare zi cu bicicleta sau pe jos până în jur de 3-4 kilometri.

➤ Crezi că ai fi avut și același succes și în baschet? Nu, cu siguranță nu, pentru că nu am înălțimea necesară. Dar mi-a plăcut foarte mult, am jucat în echipa școlii, eram foarte tehnic și îmi plăcea foarte mult să joc baschet.

➤ Ai debutat ca fotbalist la Chindia Tîrgoviște, după care ai ajuns, în 1996, la Steaua. Cum a fost să ajungi jucător la cea mai titrată echipă de fotbal din România? Atunci era un lucru foarte important pentru un jucător care venea din provincie. Steaua era echipa care se califica an de an în Champions League, echipa care câștiga campionatele. Pe vremea aceea, Dinamo mai avea așa câte o sclipire, dar în perioada aceea Steaua era cea mai bună echipă. Pentru mine a fost un lucru foarte important, mai ales că eu mi-am dorit foarte mult să ajung la Steaua. ➤ În anul 2000, ai ajuns în Bundesliga și ai fost unul dintre cei

➤ You are 37 and your career is something that many people would take pride in. How did you actually start playing soccer? It has been a very long time since then. My first „meeting” with the soccer was in Chindia Targoviste, when I was 15. I got promoted from the junior to the adult team, where I have been playing ever since. ➤ Why soccer? I started it when I was 6. My father took me there, he pushed me many times, forced me to play soccer. And very often I would have liked basketball instead, it was a nicer and easier sport. I was playing it in the school yard – back then, I was living very close to my school, everything was at hand. To go to the soccer court, I had to ride my bike or walk for 3-4 kilometres. ➤ Would you have had the same success in basketball?

No, of course not, I am not tall enough for that. But I surely liked it a lot, played in the school team. I was a very technical player, I loved playing basketball very much. ➤ Your debuted as a soccer player at Chindia Tirgoviste, then went to Steaua in 1996. How was it to get to play at the most awarded team in Romania? Back then, it was a huge thing for a player coming from a countryside team. Steaua was the team to qualify in Champions League every year, it was the team winning the championships. Dinamo used to have their moments here and there, but Steaua was the best team. For me, it was a big step, mainly for the fact that I really wanted to play for Steaua. ➤ In 2000, you joined Bundesliga and were one of the best players of Alemannia Aachen during the 2006-2007 season. Plus, he is a honorable, fair and a wonderful family man, who spends his time with children and wife, the widely known Anamaria Prodan. Laurentiu Reghecampf gave us an exclusive interview, which can be read below. mai buni jucători ai Alemanniei Aachen în sezonul 2006-2007. Vorbește-ne despre experiența ta în Germania. Cât de important a fost contactul cu fotbalul din Germania pentru cariera ta de fotbalist? Am ajuns în anul 2000 la Energie Cottbus, echipă cu care am jucat doi ani în prima ligă, am retrogradat, am reușit să promovăm, deci am avut cinci ani frumoși la Cottbus, cinci ani în care eu am ieșit de două ori fotbalistul anului. După 2005, dacă nu mă înșel, am fost transferat de la Cottbus la Aachen, unde am reușit să ne calificăm în primăvara europeană ca singura echipă din divizia B în această competiție, iar în anul următor am reușit să promovăm cu echipa. Au fost ani frumoși, ani în care eu am învățat foarte multe lucruri despre ceea ce înseamnă fotbal, despre ceea ce înseamnă să fii profesionist, despre ceea ce înseamnă să prețuiești meseria pe care o faci.

➤ Cum s-a întâmplat debutul ca antrenor, în 2009, la FC Snagov? De ce ai ales să antrenezi, să rămâi tot în fotbal? Nu ai fost tentat niciun moment să alegi altceva? În 2008, am hotărât, împreună cu Ana, să ne întoarcem înapoi în România, eu mai având încă trei ani de contract la Kaiserslaurten. Am avut niște probleme de sănătate și am hotărât să îmi închei cariera. Împreună am hotărât să încep școala de antrenori, să încep să învăț. Am luat-o de jos, cum se spune. Am făcut școala pentru licența A, pentru licența B și așa mai departe. Iar în perioada în care eu eram la școală, am hotărât să încep să antrenez. Cred că este un lucru foarte important pentru un antrenor să aibă experiență, să înceapă de jos, să vadă exact care sunt problemele în momentul în care antrenezi, pentru că este o diferență enorm de mare între a fi fotbalist și a fi antrenor. ➤ Dar nu ai fost niciun moment tentat să te apuci de altceva după ce ai încheiat cariera de fotbalist?

I went to Energie Cottbus in 2000, a team I played with for two years in the first league, then we moved down but we managed to bounce back – there were five beautiful years at Cottbus, and I was chosen the „player of the year” twice. After 2005, if I remember well, I was transferred from Cottbus to Aachen. We were the only team to qualify in the European spring from the second league – then, the next year we promoted to the first league. Beautiful years, when I learned many things about what soccer means, how to be a professional, to respect your job. ➤ Your debut as a coach in 2009 at FC Snagov – why did you choose to be a coach, to stick with the soccer? Were you not tempted to do something else? In 2008, me and Ana decided to go back to Romania. I

had three years left from my contract with Kaiserslaurten. I was having some health problems and I decided to end my career. Again, we decided to enroll in the coaching school, to start learning. I began everything from zero. I did the courses for license A, the license B and so on. While I was in school, I thought it was the time to start coaching. It is essential for a coach to gain experience, to start from a lower level, to see exactly what the problems are. Being a soccer player and a coach, these are two things so much different. ➤ But you were not thinking, at least for a moment, to do something else after ending your player career? No, because I love what I am doing. I have always liked my career as a player and I thought it was natural for me to do what I already knew. This is the reason I chose to be a coach.

than I thought. But the moment you are successful, the moment when things start moving smoothly for a team like Steaua, it is very easy.

Nu, pentru că îmi place foarte mult ceea ce fac. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult meseria de fotbalist și am crezut că este cel mai indicat pentru mine să fac ceea ce știu. De aceea am ales să fiu antrenor.

➤ Would Steaua have a counterpart in Germany? Steaua is for Romania exactly the same thing as Bayern Munchen for Germans. A strong club, a long tradition, a very much loved clud in Romania. Similar with Bayern in Germany.

➤ Au urmat pe listă, ca echipe pe care le-ai antrenat, Universitatea Craiova, Gloria Bistrița...Te-ai lovit de multe lucruri care nu merg în fotbalul românesc. Te-au călit acestea în vreun fel? Normal. Întotdeauna când suferi, când ai de suferit atât tu, cât și familia ta, înveți foarte multe lucruri. Cred că un antrenor care vrea să ajungă departe sau vrea să ajungă în fotbalul mare trebuie să treacă și prin aceste perioade. ➤ Și ai ajuns la Steaua, cu care ai făcut performanțe incredibile atât în plan intern, cât și în plan extern. Ești campion anul acesta... Ce înseamnă Steaua pentru tine? Pentru mine, Steaua înseamnă cel mai mare club din România, înseamnă un club care atârnă foarte greu în momentul când știi ce înseamnă Steaua, știi ce înseamnă această echipă. Responsabilitate foarte mare, mult stres, faptul că oamenii își doresc enorm de mult să fie pe primul loc - și mă refer aici atât la oamenii care conduc echipa Steaua, cât și la cei care o iubesc echipa - deci este mult mai complicat decât am crezut eu. Dar, în momentul în care ai succes, în momentul când lucrurile trebuie să meargă așa cum trebuie să meargă la o echipă de talia Stelei, este foarte ușor. ➤ Steaua ar avea un omolog în Germania? Steaua este pentru români exact ce este Bayern Munchen pentru nemți. Un club puternic, un club de tradiție, un club care este foarte-foarte iubit în România. Același lucru se întâmplă și în Germania, cu Bayern. ➤ Cum este relația ta cu jucătorii? Avem o relație deschisă, o relație care se bazează pe respect, pe seriozitate în primul rând. Știu când să ies cu ei, știu cum să vorbesc cu ei, pentru că și eu am trecut prin această perioadă de fotbalist. În primul rând avem o relație de muncă și am vrut să le implementez jucătorilor acest lucru

➤ What is your relation with the players? We are open to one another, a relation that is based on respect and dependability. I know when to go out with and talk to them, as I have been a player myself. We have first a work relation and I really wanted to make them understand that – that we are only employees. They are the players, I am the coach, we need to do our job as well as we can so that we will be successful. It is just a normal relation, between players and their coach.

Este o relație normală, o relație dintre antrenor și jucători. ➤ Când ai venit la Steaua, ai știut, ai simțit, ai bănuit că vei ajunge campion? Eu am știut din primul moment când am semnat cu Steaua și acest lucru l-am spus în prima conferință de presă. Am știut ce lot am la dispoziție, am știut că există această euforie, din cauza faptului că de șapte ani de zile nu se câștigase nimic la Steaua decât o Cupă a României. Oamenii erau înfometați, își doreau enorm de mult - și aici mă refer la jucători - doreau enorm de mult să câștige campionatul din România. Deci, aveam calitate, știam ceea ce pot eu, aveam toate lucrurile pentru a face performanță. ➤ Se știe că Gigi Becali este un om cu personalitate și foarte greu de mulțumit. Cum te înțelegi cu patronul Stelei?

➤ Your list of teams include Universitatea Craiova, Gloria Bistrita... Were you clashing with things going wrong in the Romanian soccer? Did they make you stronger? Of course. And anytime you go through some hardships, you and your family will learn a lot. I really believe that for someone who wants to get far away or join the superior leagues, it is necessary for him to go through wrong to get it right. ➤ And you are now with Steaua, where you have reached incredible performance, both nationally and internationally. You are champions this year... What is Steaua for you? For me, Steaua is the best club in Romania, it is a club that holds the best position. Very much responsibility, a lot of stress, the fact that people here really love being on top – and I am talking about people running the club and also its fans – in other words, it is more complicated

➤ When you came to Steaua, did you know, feel, expect that you would become champions? I believed it from the very first moment when I signed the contract with Steaua. And this is what I told them during the first press conference. How do you two get along with Steaua’s owner? I get along just fine and let me tell you why. We have a honest relation, based on much respect. Avem o relație corectă, o relație care se bazează pe foarte mult respect, eu nu l-am mințit niciodată pe patronul echipei, am încercat să îi expun lucrurile așa cum sunt pentru că pentru un antrenor și staff-ul lui este foarte importantă o relație corectă cu patronul echipei. Lucrul acesta s-a văzut, am avut succes, am reușit să îndeplinim obiectivul pe care ni l-am propus, și anume acela de a câștiga titlul cu numărul 24, iar acest lucru, pentru patron, pentru oamenii care conduc, este foarte bine. ➤ Ai anunțat că vei continua să antrenezi echipa din Ghencea, deși ai primit alte oferte, supertentante. Ce anume te-a determinat să rămâi la echipa din Ghencea? În primul rând faptul că se dorește enorm de mult calificarea în Champions League, faptul că am format o echipă unită. Cred că acest lucru este important pentru mine și pentru colegii cu care lucrez. Vom încerca împreună să câștigăm următoarele campionate, mă refer la următorii doi ani, vom încerca să ne calificăm în grupele Champions League și să reușim să ne îndeplinim următoarele obiective. Avem un lot foarte bun, avem în plan să aducem jucători care să întărească lotul pe care îl avem în acest moment la dispoziție, deci cred că, dacă Steaua va rămâne în acest colectiv sau cu același colectiv, nu va avea probleme în a-și îndeplini obiectivele. ➤ Ești un mare antrenor. What is the reason for your staying with this team? First of all, it is a great desire to qualify in the Champions League, now that we have a consolidated team. This is very important for me and for the people I am working with. Of course we will work hard to win the championships in the next two years, to get in the Champions League. We do have a very good team, are planning to bring some more to make it even stronger. But, as far as I am concerned, should Steaua plays with this team, it will not any problems meeting its objectives. ➤ You are a great coach. What do you think are your strong points and the secret of your success? I do not know. It is indeed very difficult to talk about me, other should be doing it. First, I am an honest man towards both the players and the owner. I love working, getting involved in what I am doing, in everything that our life on or outside the arena means – these are things that people appreciate a lot. When you are honest and do your job properly, I don’t think you cold have any problems. As for the secret of my success, there is none. I like keeping myself abreast with the latest in the modern soccer. The players like that and I believe that they get tied of their weekly routine. We always come with new things and it shows very well.

➤ What would you change in the Romanian soccer and why? We have changed a lot of things at Steaua and this will have an impact and visibility to the other teams. Each team has the duty to have a physical trainer, as they want to work differently than so far. Why? Because they see Steaua as an example. In other words, we have changed many things in the Romanian soccer, which cannot but please me very much. I truly hope to see the same at the junior teams, national teams and so on. ➤ What is your biggest desire, professionally speaking? What can I wish for myself? We won the Romanian championship. I want now to quality in the Champions League, to win the Romanian Cup and the next championships. For the near future, if given the opportunity, I would like to join a big team abroad. ➤ You have a happy family. Recently, though, you went through a less happy moment. Anamaria, your wife, had a miscarriage. How did you manage to get over this terrible thing for a family? I think that we all are facing problems, and every family goes through hardships. We have talked a lot, we spend most of our time together. It is much easier when you have your family with you, you overcome difficulties better. When you have other children, you are trying to forget faster and go back to your daily routine. I think that these things are normal, they happen everwhere, so we should not blow it out of proportion.

El iubește foarte mult fotbalul, este foarte preocupat de ceea ce se întâmplă la Steaua, vede toate meciurile, este prezent la toate meciurile noastre, cunoaște toți jucătorii, joacă aproape toată ziua fotbal, dar este încă copil și nu pot să spun în momentul de față dacă el va ajunge să joace fotbal profesionist. Dar, eu m-aș bucura enorm de mult, dar cel mai mult s-ar bucura Ana. ➤ Ai fost desemnat omul anului la Gala Premiilor “Casino Life and Business Magazine” 2012. Ce a însemnat acest trofeu pentru tine? Mă bucur, în primul rând, de aprecierea voastră, de aprecierea oamenilor care conduc această revistă. Cred că am reușit să fac ceva și lucrul acesta a fost premiat. Nu sunt un jucător, nu sunt un om care să-și petreacă foarte mult timp prin cazinouri, dar în momentul când am timpul necesar și liniștea necesară, m-aș duce cu plăcere. ➤ Ai investi vreodată bani în industria de gambling? Nu, că nu mă pricep. ➤ Este ceva ce lumea nu știe despre tine și ai vrea să se afle? Nu, nu cred. Suntem persoane publice și tot ceea ce facem noi apare în ziare. Nu. Da, gătitul. Îmi place foarte mult să merg la pescuit când am timp, în rest - majoritatea timpului stau cu copiii. ➤ Te rugăm să le transmiți un gând cititorilor publicației noastre. În primul rând, să fie fericiți, măcar 1% dintre cititorii voștri să aibă același sentiment pe care eu l-am avut în momentul în care am ieșit campion. To be healthy, to enjoy my family, my children, to make the most of the time I spend with them – I do not wish for something extraordinary. ➤ Is Laur jr coming in your steps? Do you think he will be in the performance soccer? I don’t know. He loves soccer very much, wants to know what is going on at Steaua, watches all the games, comes to all our games, he knows all the players, he himself plays soccer almost all day. But, on the other hand, he is still a child and I can’t tell right now whether he will be a professional soccer player. I would love that, but Ana would be in seventh heaven. ➤ You were nominated the „man of the year” at the „Casino Life and Business Magazine” Awards Gala in 2012. What did this trophy mean to you? First of all, I would like to thank you for your appreciation, of the people running this publication. I must have done something good that I deserved the trophy. There is nothing more I can say, I will let you do that. ➤ Have you ever played at a casino? If yes, how do you see this experience? For the last 6-7 years, we go to Las Vegas, where we and Ana’s family have two houses and an

apartment. Last year, after signing with Steaua, and for the first time with these trips, I went to the casino and played with some friends. To my surprise, I was all over the newspapers in Romania the next day. I am not very much into gambling. Honestly, I have no time to relax so much that I reach the mental state to gamble. I am not a player or a person to hang out in the casinos. But, whenever I will have the time and the right mood, I would love to go. Would you ever make any investments in the gambling industry? No, because this is not my field of expertise. Is there anything that people do not know about you and you would like them to? No, I don’t think so. We are public people and everything we do will be in the newspapers. Whatever I like doing or what I do most of my time is to spend it with my family, try to make them happy and be better in my profession. ➤ Any hobbies? Yes, cooking. Robert Cezarescu made history in Romania, as he is the only back-to-back champion of PokerFest circuit – in April 2012, he won the trophy in Piatra-Neamt and in December same year the one in Brasov.

➤ Robert, am înțeles că în ultima vreme s-au întâmplat o mulțime de noutăți în viața ta de jucător de poker. Poți să ni le spui? Nu este vorba de o mulțime. Este vorba despre una, dar este foarte importantă pentru cariera mea și pentru tot ce am făcut până acum în poker. Am devenit membru al echipei FullTilt Poker Pro și ambasador al Eureka Poker Tour.

➤ Robert, we hear that you are going through a lot of new things in your life. Can you give us some details? It is not quite a lot. Just one, but essential for my career and for everything I have been doing so far in poker. I have been asked to become, and I accepted, a member of the FullTilt Pro team and ambassador of Eureka Poker Tour.

Sunt obișnuiți. Mare parte dintre cei care merg regulat la turnee sunt obișnuiți pentru că au văzut mulți profesioniști mari de-a lungul anilor, de-a lungul turneelor, care au stat alături de ei. Deci asupra acestora nu există niciun impact, poate că doar asupra debutanților să aibă oarecare impact, să fie un avantaj sau un dezavantaj, o să văd în perioada următoare. ➤ Ca și intensitate sau ca și număr de jocuri, a crescut acesta datorită acestei apartenențe la echipa FullTilt sau joci la fel de multe turnee? Eu oricum, și până acum, am avut o carieră profesionistă și fără să fiu membru al vreunei echipe. Și acum o să fac același lucru, deci nu o să schimbe prea mult viața mea, doar că o să fiu puțin mai calculat, mai responsabil, mai disciplinat decât înainte.

➤ What will this mean for you, as a poker player? First, I feel honored and happy for this selection. In fact, the moment most players start in this business they dream of becoming ambassadors for such a huge brand one day. At the same time, I have a higher responsibility right now and I will be doing the best I can to prove that my performance is the one that recommended me for this team. ➤ You are in the same team with Gus Hansen and other big names in the poker world. How do you feel about that? This is the first step. It feels like I took a leap from a second to first league team and everything that comes with it – the debut emotions, which I will

try to control as much as possible, to cope with playing at this level. ➤ Since you joined the FullTilt Pro team, have the other players in the tournament been more scared of you or they are used to it? They are just used to it. Most of them, the tournament regulars, are accustomed to it. They have already seen many professionals along the years sitting next to them. Hence, there is no impact upon them – maybe that will happen with the starters. Whether is an advantage or a disadvantage, I will see it really soon. ➤ Have your games become more intense or more frequent since you joined the FullTilt team or you are playing as many tournaments as before? Until now, I have had a professional career of my own, outside of any team. I am going to do the same, my life will not change very much. Mai toți jucători profesioniști, care îmi sunt și amici și unii chiar prieteni foarte buni de-ai mei, m-au felicitat, nu cred că există animozități în anturajul nostru. Suntem prea puțini încă să avem rivalități, în general ne bucurăm unul de succesul celuilalt. ➤ Spuneai, într-un interviu pe care l-ai acordat anterior revistei noastre, că speri ca anul acesta să îți aducă o realizare în poker. Această numire în echipa FullTilt poate fi numită o realizare din punctul tău de vedere? Da, cu siguranță. Atunci, în acel interviu, mă refeream la rezultatele mele personale pe plan

As far as you are concerned, could this selection for the FullTilt team be that achievement you mentioned? Yes, definitely. During that interview, I remember talking about my personal results in

this sport. And this is the biggest performance, before any results or trophy. From now on, I will be more confident about the future, to fulfill my goals that I had in the past, which is international visibility. ➤ What do you think as a criterion for your selection into this team? I would be guessing that the results in the last year. I think that the PokerFest ranking weighed the most. ➤ What are your plans for future? Exactly what I have told you before. Luiza C\r\deanu, de la Casino Bucharest, a dominat cea de-a șaptea ediție a European Dealer Championship, fiind desemnată cel mai bun crupier din Europa.

Luiza C\r\deanu, from Bucharest Casino, reigned over the seventh edition of the European Dealer Championship, as she was crowned the best dealer in Europe.

Competiția s-a desfășurat la Casino di Campione d’Italia, în Como. Este pentru a doua oară în istoria competiției organizate de Asociația Europeană a Cazinourilor (ECA) când se impune o femeie. Românca Luiza Cărădeanu are 34 de ani și și-a plătit singură participarea la competiția din Italia, dat fiind că, potirivt presei italiene, cazinoul la care lucrează are probleme financiare din cauza crizei economice.

La concursul desfășurat în Italia au participat 31 de reprezentanți din 20 de țări. Dintre aceștia, 11 au fost femei.

Luiza a impresionat prin dedicație, pasiune, talent și șarm. Premiul obținut de româncă este o călătorie pentru două persoane în Las Vegas. “Îmi place la nebunie munca mea. Este o mare onoare să fiu c‚știgătoare”, a spus Luiza Cărădeanu la finalul prestigioasei competiții.

During the European Dealer Championship, Romanian Luiza Cărădeanu came before Finnish Amir Ben Said, on the second, and Swedish Johan Ranesta, who ranked the third. Luiza Cărădeanu has given our publication „Casino Life & Business Magazine” an exclusive interview, where she speaks about her job and success. ➤ You managed a great performance, to be named the best dealer in Europe. How do you feel after this success? How did you do to defeat 31 competitors from 20 countries? I feel excellent. Two years ago I went to the same competition, so I could say I was a little bit more prepared. About the fact that I defeated other 31 opponents, you have to know I am no superwoman – they are not as well prepared as we are here. And I am talking about the Romanian style of playing – we are tested nonstop – limits, bettings. Looking from this perspective, it was a similar environment in the contest.

➤ Ai reușit o mare performanță, și anume să fii desemnată cel mai bun crupier din Europa. Cum te simți după această reușită. Te-ai impus în fața a 31 de participanți din 20 de țări... Mă simt extraordinar. Am mai participat acum doi ani și ca să zic așa am avut o mică pregătire pentru concurs. Despre faptul că m-am impus în fața a 31 de participanți nu pot să spun că am fost eu o superwoman, doar că cei care au venit nu erau pregătiți așa cum suntem noi pregătiți aici. Adică, la stilul de joc care se practică în România, suntem testați non-stop - limite, pariuri. Chiar am participat acum doi ani, când a câștigat și cealaltă fată, și chiar m-am bucurat pentru ea. Diferența a fost foarte mică între noi. Diferența a fost de 0,01 puncte, dar m-am bucurat pentru ea tocmai pentru că participase cinci ani consecutiv, era al șaselea. Când am auzit povestea, chiar nu-mi doream să câștig eu. Iar faptul că suntem femei, asta nu știu dacă are mare legătură. Cel puțin la noi, În România, foarte mulți crupieri sunt femei. Se preferă. Majoritatea clienților care vin în cazinouri sunt bărbați și preferă să vadă o femeie la masă. Dar nu aș putea să zic că sunt diferențe foarte mari între femei și bărbați. Este adevărat că bărbații încep mai din timp să învețe jocurile de noroc și au mai multă experiență. Învață de mici să joace poker. Și ca atitudine este altfel pentru ei, dar dacă ai o femeie stăpână pe ea și știe ce vrea și știe ce face, nu cred că ar trebui să fie vreo diferență între femei și bărbați. Da, e o mândrie că a câștigat o femeie campionatul european, sunt și eu solidară cu femeile din lumea întreagă. ➤ Lucrezi la Casino Bucharest, dar am înțeles că ai fost pe cont propriu în Italia, la concurs. Ne poți detalia? În perioada aceasta, cât este criză, bineînțeles că bugetele au fost limitate la ceea ce era strict esențial, și mi s-a spus, încă de când am auzit că o să se organizeze concursul de anul acesta, că nu sunt bani pentru cheltuieli extra, ceea ce era considerat concursul acesta. Pentru mine era o cheltuială pe care voiam să o fac și îmi doream foarte mult să dobândesc experiență. Plus că este foarte bine pentru mine, pentru CVul meu, ca și experiență. ➤ Care a fost premiul pe care l-ai obținut în urma câștigării Campionatului European? O excursie pentru două persoane la Las Vegas, timp de o săptămână. Este vorba de cazare, zboruri și niște bani de cheltuială. ➤ Cum au primit colegii performanța ta? Au primit-o super bine. Toată lumea, de când eram acolo, am încercat să găsesc o legătură cu internet

➤ You are working with Bucharest Casino, but I hear that you took money out of your pocket to go Italy. Any details about it? Right now, we have a tight budget. They limit to what is really essential. The moment I heard about the competition they told me that they had no money to help me with. No extra expenses, as this competition was looked at. Then, I said to myself that I had bought the plane ticket, accommodation some time ahead – I knew about it since last September – I would not spend so much and I also had some time to save a little for the trip. It seemed good for me to go there. The same thing happened last year – we found ourselves in the impossibility of leaving and it would have been too late to pay for it myself. But now, since I knew about it in advance, I told them that I would go, whether they had money or not. This is an experience I do not want to miss, especially that I had been there two years ago and I knew I can do better and win. And the fact that I had to pay for everything from my own pocket, I don’t see is as a big deal. It is true that the others had been sent by their casinos. Iar un lucru de genul acesta automat crește valoarea noastră. ➤ De când lucrezi ca crupier și ce anume te-a atras la această meserie? Ca și crupier lucrez din anul 1999, deci de 14 ani aproape. Ce anume m-a atras nu pot să zic, pentru că nu aveam nici cea mai mică idee despre ce înseamnă asta. Când am venit aici, când m-am angajat, aveam 19 ani. Nu aveam nici cea mai vagă idee despre ce presupune această meserie. Doar jucam poker cu prietenii mei. Aveam o prietenă care se angajase ca crupier și plecase deja pe vase de croazieră - la vremea aceea se câștiga foarte bine pe vasele de croazieră. Cum a început totul? Ca un summer job, adică eram în vacanța de vară și hai să fac ceva. Eu neavând decât un singur părinte și o situație materială nu prea roz, trebuia să fac ceva vara că să mai am bani de cheltuială. Exact așa i-am spus mamei: să vedem, poate fac și eu niște bani. După aceea, deja totul s-a învârtit în jurul cazinoului, nicidecum nu a fost o slujbă trecătoare, pentru că m-am îndrăgostit de meserie. Eram foarte entuziasmată, de-abia așteptam să treacă ziua și să mă reîntorc la muncă. Eram chiar dispusă să dau chiar zilele libere ca să vin. Asta pentru mine a fost o revelație. Nu mulți găsesc așa un serviciu la care abia așteaptă să vină. Nici acum, după 14 ani, nu pot să spun că îmi displace faptul că vin la muncă. Este adevărat că nu mai este entuziasmul pe care îl aveam atunci, dar ca și meserie îmi place la fel de mult ca atunci când m-am apucat de ea. ➤ Care crezi că este secretul succesului într-o astfel de profesie? Greu de spus. Sunt foarte multe lucruri la care trebuie să fii atent. Trebuie să îți meargă puțin căpșorul la calcule, pentru că faci foarte multe calcule și nu ai voie să greșești. Faci o școală, ești pregătit ca să zic așa, cum să faci, cum să calculezi, metode de calcul ca să nu greșești.

Este foarte importantă perspicacitatea, pentru că de cele mai multe ori tu ești singur la masă și ei câte șase-șapte clienți. Trebuie să fii atent la toți și să încerci să prinzi să nu se modifice vreun pariu, să se pună după sau prea târziu sau să fure etc. Dar, așa ca și secret, cred că trebuie să ai încredere în tine și să fii stăpân pe tine. Să înveți foarte bine ce trebuie să faci, dar perspicacitatea este cea mai importantă. ➤ Ce părere a avut familia ta despre faptul că ai ales să lucrezi în cazinouri? Nu pot să spun că a avut vreo părere. A fost totul la latitudinea mea. Mie îmi plăcea, deci pe mama nu avea de ce să o deranjeze. Pe ea o interesa de școală, la momentul respectiv. Îmi tot spunea să încerc să mă țin de

școală. Și când am făcut sport, la fel îmi spunea: să nu mă las de școală. ➤ Ce sport ai făcut? Am făcut hochei pe gheață. Acum fac schi, cred că este o continuare normală a ceea ce a fost hocheiul în viața mea. Am fost o persoană mai ciudată în privința alegerii lucrurilor care îmi plăceau... În ceea ce privește părerea familiei vizavi de profesia mea... Familia a fost încântată. A fost o perioadă, când eu m-am angajat, când mama s-a îmbolnăvit și automat a trebuit să stea acasă foarte mult timp și eu a trebuit să suplimentez veniturile familiei, în ideea că și sora mea mai mică era la școală și era important ca serviciul să meargă bine. I had a friend who had been hired as a dealer on cruise line ships – back then, the pay was very good of the ships. How did everything start? As a summer job – I decided to do something. I come from a single parent family, my financial resources were not many, so I needed some money for myself. I remember this is exactly what I told my mother – „we will just see, I might make some money”. After that, everything started revolving around the casino. It was not a random job anymore, I had just

fallen in love with it. I was very excited, looking forward to go back to work. I was even willing to come here on my days off. A true revelation! There are not too many people to have a job they can’t wait to go. Not even now, after 14 years, I can’t say that I dislike coming to work. It is true that enthusiasm faded a little, but my love for this job is as fresh as ever. ➤ What would be the secret behind the succes in this job? It is hard to tell. There are very many things you have to pay attention to. You have to have some mathematical skills, as you will go through a lot of calculation. You are not allowed to be wrong. You attend some courses, you are trained how to calculate, various methods that keep you from making mistakes. To be perspicacious is essential – most of the time you are the only dealer and you have 6 or 7 clients in front of you. Mama a fost bucuroasă, că nu eram nici muncitoare în fabrică, nici nu mă duceam să culeg căpșuni. E o meserie ușoară pe care poți să o faci atâta timp cât te ajută mintea și nu greșești. Nu e un serviciu la care să tragi din greu din punct de vedere fizic, este un serviciu foarte frumos. Este adevărat că ai contact cu clienții și unii se mai manifestă într-un fel nu prea plăcut atunci când pierd banii, dar treci peste dacă ești obișnuit. Pentru mine este un lucru foarte frumos. ➤ Ca persoană direct implicată în industria gamblingului, ce părere ai despre această industrie din România? Este un sector care se dezvoltă într-o direcție bună?

De dezvoltat, în ultima vreme, nu prea se mai dezvoltă. Au fost 12 cazinouri, acum au mai rămas cinci din cauza crizei. Ce părere am despre această industrie? Mie îmi place foarte mult, eu sunt încântată. Este un loc în care se pot întâmpla o mulțime de lucruri frumoase. Cazinourile, în general, sunt un loc de entertainment, adică au loc și spectacole, și prezentări de modă. Așa, ca și loc de entertainment, este foarte frumos. Ideea este să fii responsabil în privința gamblingului. Nu sunt de dorit oamenii care își pierd casele, averile pe la cazinouri. Ca industrie, gamblingul este foarte frumos. Ideea este ca omul care intră să fie stăpân, să nu vină cu bani mai mulți decât își poate permite și să nu-și piardă capul. Mulți ajung să facă asta și din acest punct de vedere mie îmi pare tare rău când se întâmplă asta, dar nu am ce să fac. Pe omul acela nu-l pot obliga cât să piardă, nu-l pot trimite acasă cu forța, explicându-i că familia sa are de suferit. Este adevărat că sunt

Nu s-a făcut niciun studiu de piață, nu s-a vorbit cu managerii de la diferite cazinouri. Când dai o lege trebuie să fii în contact cu ceea ce se întâmplă în acel domeniu, nu după cum vezi din exterior. Mărirea taxelor duce uneori la închiderea unui cazinou. Oamenii au de suferit. Într-un cazinou lucrează foarte mulți oameni și cunosc cazuri când cazinouri mari au dat faliment și o groază de oameni au rămas pe drumuri. Noi cei din industria cazinourilor, suntem în clasa mijlocie - ca salarii, ca taxe plătite, noi aducem bani la bugetul de stat. Nici cei săraci, nici cei bogați nu aduc bani la bugetul de stat. Noi clasa mijlocie facem asta. Iar unele taxe nu își au rostul, de aici și faptul că lucrurile nu merg în direcția bună. ➤ Joci la cazinouri? Nu. ➤ Nu ai încercat niciodată? Nu. După opt ore pe zi, timp de 14 ani, din tot ceea ce am văzut nu pot spune că am descoperit vreun secret al câștigului. Dacă aș avea bani de aruncat - pentru că pentru mine sunt bani de aruncat sau de distrat, deși pentru mine mersul în cazinou nu mai este distracție pentru că știu cu ce se mănâncă și ce se întâmplă acolo - cine știe. Dar să joc nu m-a pasionat nici când eram la început. ➤ Și dacă mergi la Las Vegas nu o să joci? Așa, puțin, ca să văd cum se descurcă staff-ul, ce fac dealerii, cum

Clienții sunt foarte inteligenți. Te testează pe tine și știu limitele, maximele. Te testează pe tine ca să vadă dacă și tu știi. Ca și stil de joc sunt puțin agresivi. Totul se întâmplă foarte repede. Dacă tu nu știi limitele, încearcă să profite, dar tocmai asta m-a ajutat pe mine la concurs. Cel puțin o dată pe săptămână există un client care te testează să vadă dacă știi care este limita pe un număr sau minimum pe un anumit pariu la masă. ➤ Cine este Luiza Cårådeanu în viața de zi cu zi? În viața de zi cu zi îmi place să schiez. Vreau să învăț și să mă dau cu placa. Am început acum. Sper să mă dau cu parapanta. În viața de zi cu zi sunt o fată normală, îmi place să fac shopping. În rest sunt la fel ca orice alt om. Nu aș putea să spun că sunt foarte deosebită. ➤ Programul acesta de a lucra mai mult noaptea nu te scoate din mână? Nu, pentru că fac asta de foarte mulți ani. De când mă știu lucrez în programul acesta și sunt obișnuită. Nu am probleme cu somnul. Din punctul acesta de vedere, m-am înțeles foarte bine cu soțul meu. Este barman și lucrează și el de noapte. Ne-am potrivit foarte bine în privința aceasta. În plus, pentru mine este foarte bine pentru că pot să-mi fac alte treburi în timpul zilei. Alții nu-și pot face programul așa. ➤ Care sunt proiectele tale de viitor? Nu prea îmi fac proiecte de viitor. Îmi place să mă limitez la timpul prezent. Îmi fac proiecte pe termen scurt, pentru că viața mi-a demonstrat că nu are rost să te gândești pe termen lung că nu se întâmplă niciodată cum vrei tu. Îmi doresc să nu se închidă cazinourile și să meargă business-ul bine.

Conform studiului, care are o marjă de eroare de +/- 3%, 3% dintre români au jucat, `n ultimul an, `n mod regulat, la slot-machines, iar 1% dintre aceștia au făcut-o săptămânal. Rezultatele studiului arată că 20% dintre români au participat la jocurile de tip loto, 6% la pariuri sportive și 3% la jocurile online.

Our publication has counted among the prestigious guests at the seventh edition of Gaming Expo Belgrade. A number of 34 exhibitors from 14 countries was present at the event, wonderfully

organized so as everyone felt at their best.

Impact in the mass-media Two days were intended for the field specialists at Gaming Expo Belgrade. The main exhibitors were the top players in the gambling sector and also some start-ups. Even though the market is relatively small, the exhibition weighs significantly, at least in the region. For that matter, it

Expoziția de la Belgrad a fost foarte bine primită și în mass-media, televiziunile locale prezentând reportaje pe larg de la eveniment.

Combinația perfectă între nou și vechi Modernul centru de expoziții este situat în centrul Belgradului, un oraș în care vechiul se îmbină armonios cu noul, iar clădirile vechi au o strălucire cu totul specială văzute de pe șoselele suspendate. Sârbii țin să demonstreze că țin la trecutul lor, astfel că edificiile bombardate în timpul războiului au fost păstrate în picioare pentru aducere aminte. Impresionante sunt și podurile din Belgrad, de o frumusețe aparte. Pe scut, capitala Serbiei este un oraș care merită într-adevăr văzut.

La sfârșitul lunii mai, ~n Capitală, a avut loc Conferința EUROMAT (Federația Europeană pentru Gaming și Amuzament), unde a fost prezentă și președinta Annette Kok. A fost prezentă toată crema organizatyorilor și producătorilor de jocuri de noroc din țara noastră. La evenimentul organizat `n premieră absolută `n țara noastră și organizat de ROMSLOT - Asociația Organizatorilor de Sloturi - și de AOPJNR - Asociația Organizatorilor și Producătorilor de Jocuri de Noroc din România, au fost prezente companii precum Novomatic, Game World, DGL Pro, Maxbet, Newton și Baum Games. De altfel, `n luna `n care a avut loc conferința, publicația noastră a avut-o pe copertă de Annette Kok, președinta EUROMAT.

Printre subiectele care s-au mai aflat pe agenda de discuție EUROMAT AGM 2013 au fost și rapoartele de țară, susținute de reprezentații asociațiilor membre, raportul de activitate EUROMAT pentru perioada mai 2012 – mai 2013 și prezentarea și aprobarea bugetului EUROMAT. De asemenea, `n cadrul evenimentului a avut loc și prezentarea noutăților legislative la nivelul Uniunii Europene, prezentarea rapoartele comisiilor de specialitate EUROMAT, și anume Responsible Gambling Committee și Legal Committee, dar și prezentarea și aprobarea planului de activități pentru perioada mai 2013 – mai 2014. Misiunea generală a federației, `nființată `n anul 1978 și care are 23 de membri, asociații naționale din 17 state europene, este de a contribui la crearea unui cadrul legislativ și a unui mediu de afaceri aplicabil și echitabil la nivelul Uniunii Europene pentru industria jocurilor de noroc.

I think it’s Romania, though. ➤ You are nicknamed „Mister Gentleman” and „Hammer”. The two have nothing in common, they are rather opposite. Why are you called like that? „Mister Gentleman” came from my peers, coach, the people in the SuperKombat team – I guess because I proved a good character, manners. I have always been humble, so this explains my first nickname. As for „Hammer”, I earned it after a few fights I ended with KO, by my right hook. In Romanian, it means „Ciocanul”. ➤ How do you get along with these nicknames? Well, I am glad about them. They are nice, if I can say so. ➤ Should you start it over, would you choose anything other than kickboxing? Not at all. Even though my experience does not span so much in the past, kickboxing as a performance sport has a great effect on me. If I were to choose again, I would still pick kickboxing. Impozanta clădire a fost construită `n anul 1870, ca reședință de vacanță pentru Emanuele Scicluna, un bancher care a fost făcut marchiz `n anul 1875. Palatul a fost transformat `n cazinou din dorința de a face din Malta o destinație turistică de primă mână. Astfel, superba clădire, care se află `n apropierea unor hoteluri de patru și cinci stele de pe lângă peninsula St. Julians, a devenit, `n anul 1964, primul cazinou din micul stat.

Investments of million euros The representatives of Kursaal company were the first owners of Dragonara Casino. The Casino went private in 1999 and was operated by French managers with Hotel & Casino Group Barriere until June 2010.

Later on, the location was passed to Dragonara Gaming Limited for administration. The company invested more than 14 million euros in acquiring gaming equipment, latest technology and for the building restoration.

Enticement for clients Dragonara Casino features 286 slot machines and 19 game tables where guests can play American Roulette, Blackjack, Punto banco, Dragonara Stud Poker and Three Stud Poker.
