THE FEAST OF THE AROMAS OF ASIA MINOR

Fish balls with “tarama” sauce Spicy mussels with “boukovo” “Ntolmades” with octopus and “pligouri” Crispy fried fish and homemade “magioneza” (The fish and seafood of Mount Athos are renowned for their exquisite flavour. The reason they are so different from the rest is that the waters of the bay are deep and clean, as the area has many sea currents and there are no organised cultivations to affect it. Thus, our seafood is caught in very deep waters, with the highest salinity in Greece, and rich in plankton and clean food, since no rivers or streams end up in the bay to disturb the balance of the water composition)

Dessert: Salmourekia from Asia Minor** and “rizogalo” served with cherry sweet spoon (** The residents of Ammouliani perpetuate with respect and true devotion all the culinary habits of their grandmothers, who, driven from their homeland in Proikonnisos of Asia Minor, brought them with them and taught them in their new homeland, to create new trends, brought from the East - always with the sense of tidiness and worship for all that they so unjustly left behind....).

Ammouliani is famous for the huge quantity of fish caught here! It has the largest fishing fleet in central Macedonia. This means that the fish served on the island have been caught on the same day. Besides, in Ammouliani if a fish was caught yesterday, it is not considered fresh!
