The Mount Athos Area KOUZINA The Mount Athos Area KOUZINA is the premier culinary event of the year in the region of Mount Athos! In the shadow of the sacred Athos, in the cove of the bay of Mount Athos, on the sandy Ammoliani Island, at the foot of the Aristotelian mountain, in the Strymonikos bay, in the Akantios Bay, on the verges of Cholomontas, we invite you to smell and taste our organic products and flavours in a magnificent culinary feast, in which you participate as of this day!

Enjoy! The Ouranoupolis Camping & Bungalows Just 2 km outside Ouranoupoli, in a magical spot, overlooking Ammouliani and Athos, the Ouranoupoli Camping & Bungalows is a true natural gem, spread across 1.8 verdant hectares, in front of Mount Athos Bay. Accommodating up to 300 persons, it offers a summer holiday destination noted for its high quality in every detail: an excellent restaurant, an extensive wine cellar, tsipouro produced in our own estate, and virgin aromatic olive oil, from our own olives, all used as raw materials in our restaurant, one of the top gourmet local offerings! The camping’s super market, cooking areas, clean toilets, washing machines, vessel washer and vessel repository prove that indeed its owner, Grigoris, has put his personal signature, providing an exemplar of local hospitality and personal care to each occupant. The camping has 3 bungalows and space for 70 campers and for 100 tents or caravans. In its endless sandy beach, where the sky and sea make up incredible scenery in shades of blue, you can enjoy all summer games or relax, watching the unique colours of the sunrise and sunset. Let your children play carefree in the playgrounds, drenched in the essence of the Greek summer, while you enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink in front of the waves, in the camping’s ever cool and shady café. You will then experience the magic: nature and history intertwined, taking you on a journey from the Athonite land to the Aegean and the Mediterranean landscapes of Mount Athos Bay!

Bon appetit! With the signature of Dina Nikolaou

THE FEAST OF THE MONASTIC CUISINE

Soup with vegetables* from Mount Athos Gardens (*Every Holy Monastery in Mount Athos has its own garden. The monks cultivate all sorts of vegetables and use them in their cooking).

Octapus balls* (*The fish and seafood of Mount Athos are renowned for their exquisite flavour. The reason they are so different from the rest is that the waters of the bay are deep and clean, as the area has many sea currents and there are no organised cultivations to affect it. Thus, our seafood is caught in very deep waters, with the highest salinity in Greece, and rich in plankton and clean food, since no rivers or streams end up in the bay to disturb the balance of the water composition)

Monk's salad with cherry tomatoes, nuts** and Arnea honey***, olive oil and vinegar (**Mount Athos has rich, unspoilt vegetation. The monks collect all sorts of plants, herbs and fruit and use them in their cooking). (***Arnea is famous for producing many kinds of honey, which owe their quality, colour and taste to the countless varieties of rare plants and herbs that grow on Cholomontas and the Stratoniko Mountain)

Boiled Fish vegetables Semolina halva with orange, almonds and sweetened cherries Wine Biological Mylopotamos from the Athonite vineyards Price per person: 35 â‚Ź

Athonite cuisine is special and unique. It draws on the fish- and vegetablebased diet of the 2,500 monks living on Mount Athos, who thanks to this are renowned for their longevity and good health. The cooking method is also unique: a wood fire, pans, pure organic ingredients from the gardens and slopes of the sacred mountain... The fish and seafood of Mount Athos are renowned for their exquisite flavour. The reason they are so different from the rest is that the waters of the bay are deep and clean, as the area has many sea currents and there are no organised cultivations to affect it. Thus, our seafood is caught in very deep waters, with the highest salinity in Greece, and rich in plankton and clean food, as no rivers or streams end up in the bay to disturb the balance of the water composition. Mount Athos products, such as olive oil, wine, herbs, etc., are prepared by the blessed hands of the monks with great love, first and foremost for humans and constitute a source of life, since the raw materials used are based on the rich organic produce of the monasteries.
