The fish restaurant Megali Ammos The fish restaurant Megali Ammos is built in the most beautiful natural setting of Ammouliani: on the namesake white sandy beach, in the middle of Mount Athos Bay, directly opposite the imposing Mount Athos and very close to the golden beaches of the Drenia islands with their dreamlike Mediterranean waters! Its owners, Synodis and Giota, have been inspired by its physical location to create a menu and dishes based on the pure produce of Mount Athos Bay. The panoramic view from the fish restaurant's balcony calm the senses, leaving you in a serene mood.... Today chef Vasilis Berberakis from “Sebriko” and Giota welcome you, offering you an excellent menu ― an ode to the famous fish of Ammouliani and to the sea that offers them!

THE FE AST OF THE ATHONITE SE A

Sardines* filled with fennel and “tsouknida” from Asia Minor (*The fish and seafood of Mount Athos are renowned for their exquisite flavor. The reason they are so different from the rest is that the waters of the bay are deep and clean, as the area has many sea currents and there are no organized cultivations to affect it. Thus, our seafood is caught in very deep waters, with the highest salinity in Greece, and rich in plankton and clean food, since no rivers or streams end up in the bay to disturb the balance of the water composition)

Green salad with kritama, fish sausage from Mount Athos and Arnea’s yogurt** dressing with fresh herbs (**Yoghurt is the main product of the primary production in Arnea. In the traditional small factory, Antonis Karayiannis makes yogurt according to the recipe of his mother Angeliki, who was a famous shepherd and very good housekeeper. Antonis’ yogurt is made with a mix of local milk (goat / sheep / cow milk), so it is so delicious and tasty)

Ammouliani is famous for the huge quantity of fish caught here! It has the largest fishing fleet in central Macedonia. This means that the fish served on the island have been caught on the same day. Besides, in Ammouliani if a fish was caught yesterday, it is not considered fresh!
