elcome to our annual Creek’s Edge Charolais Bull Sale. First and most importantly, we would like to thank all of our customers that have supported us over the last 18 years of selling bulls. Your loyalty to our program is what motivates us to always select top herd sires and females that produce bull calves that will perform well for you.

This year we are once again o ering a consistent set of bulls.

There are many ½ and ¾ brothers that exhibit the characteristics we strive for. All of our walking bulls are excellent footed and calve extremely well. We try to raise bulls that are naturally muscled and heavy hipped. Traits that help our customers achieve top notch feeder calves.

We are extremely hard on our cow herd and are constantly culling cows and developing cows that are easy doing, sound and have excellent udder qualities. We breed these cows for 3 cycles and focus on the most fertile of the group.

This year we have chosen a new sales format. We spent some time researching the DLMS Farmgate Timed Auction and decided this way of selling bulls would be a great fit for us and would provide our customers with a bull buying experience that includes all the benefits of an auction with some really nice features added in. With the Farmgate timed auction the bulls pictures, videos and information can all be viewed by going to www.dlms.ca and clicking on Farmgate Timed Auctions. The sign up is free and easy. Once signed in, you can view our bull o ering and create a favourites list so you can keep a closer eye on this group of bulls during the sale. You can bid on multiple bulls at one time and will get notified by text or email if you have been outbid. There is also the option to place max bids on di erent bulls and the system will bid for you in $100 increments. There is a full list of instructions for the online auction in this catalogue and there is help available at all times if you encounter problems when using the timed auction system. The bidding will start at 9:00 am on Wednesday, March 15 and will start closing at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 16.

We welcome you to the farm to view the bulls anytime including March 15 & 16th. Please also plan to attend our Open House and Bull Viewing on Saturday, March 11 from 11-5pm. Lunch will be served along with co ee, donuts and snacks throughout the day. Proper nutrition and herd health in our bull program is top priority! We work closely with a nutritionist and veterinarian to ensure the bulls are developed in a healthy way so they are ready to work and breed successfully.

Welcome to the Creek’s Edge Charolais Annual Bull Sale. This long running sale of 18+ years will be presented in a new sale format this year, moving to a DLMS FarmGate Online Timed Auction. The sale format may have changed, but the exceptional quality of the bulls that you have come to know and expect from the Creek’s Edge program has not, with the 2023 sale o ering featuring exciting herd bulls that will add growth, performance and payweight to your calf crop. If you have never purchased from the Creek’s Edge program before, you can do so confidently. Stephen & Kristen stand behind the bulls they have featured in their o ering.

When you look at the Creek’s Edge program, you can’t help but admire their foundation females which are the heart of their herd. The maternal strength, type, style and consistency throughout their cowherd is something that many programs strive to achieve. These females are sound, feminine females with excellent udder structures and exceptional fertility to top it o . They are truly foundation females! You will see a lot of the females with their picture inset beside their son; looking at the results of what these females are raising, it is a true testimony to the strength of what these cows can do!

We all know that females are half of the equation in a breeding program, that the herd bull battery has to bring something to the table to achieve high quality o spring. Stephen & Kristen are very well in tuned with what their cows can do, and they select herd sires that possess calving ease, growth and performance traits that are sound, correct in confirmation with excellent feet and legs so they can travel. You can see the result in the following pages, of the outcome of their genetic selection and mating choices. The bull pen is exciting, and if you are fortunate to see the replacement pen, it is equally as exciting as well. The quality of the bulls from top to bottom in the o ering is consistent. You can rest easy knowing that the bulls featured in the sale o ering have been selected and scrutinized to meet the highest standards, possessing qualities and traits that the bulls will go out and work for the programs that select them. They have been bred and developed to work, which helps when making a sound investment decision for the producer that is selecting a bull(s) for their program. We can also tell you, that these bulls have a nice temperament. We had the pleasure of picturing and videoing the bulls with the Wielgosz kids working the pen, who are between the ages of 6-15, with ease and calm. This operation is a true family a air, and if that doesn’t speak to the docile nature of the bulls, I am not sure what will.

1.Visit dlms.ca and follow the link to the DLMS Farm Gate timed auction site www.farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots, or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your username and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.

2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.

3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be e ective, and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.

4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time, the computer will declare the sale finished.

5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases. Bull Evaluation

All bulls will be semen tested. Weights and scrotal measurements will be available at the open house and will be posted on the Creek’s Edge DLMS FarmGate Timed Auction Sale webpage. All bulls o ered in the sale are guaranteed to pass a semen test and are guaranteed breeders.

Vaccinations and Herd Health

We work closely with our veterinarian, Dr. Victor Kernaleguen of Gateway Veterinary Services in Melfort, to ensure our herd health program is of the highest standards and gets carried out in a timely manner. Our animals have been on herd health protocol since birth, and our cowherd is Express Verified. We would be happy to discuss our herd health protocols with you.

Delivery

We will deliver your purchases free of charge up to 300km prior to May 1. On distances over 300 km we will meet at a central point.

Nutrition

We work with our herd nutritionist to ensure that our bulls are being fed a complete ration that will optimize growth and development of the bulls, for high performance and longevity. Our bulls are fed a complete ration which includes tmr update - barley silage, alfalfa brome hay and a complete protein pellet, complete with a mineral package.

Sight Unseen Purchase Program

We know that as producers, you may be busy and unable to attend the open house or tour the bull pen. We can assist you with finding the right bull(s) to meet the needs of your program. Please feel free to contact us or a member of the sale management sta , who would confidently and happily assist you with finding the right bull(s) for your program requirements.

Insurance

Steen Agencies will provide insurance available to purchase on sale day. The animals become your responsibility as soon as sold. We recommend insuring your purchases!

Semen Rights

Creek’s Edge Land & Cattle Ltd. retains in-herd semen interest on all bulls sold in the sale, at the seller’s expense and owner’s convenience, to be drawn at a future date.

Exchange Rate

For our American friends, the exchange rate will be announced on sale day at the start of the sale.

When Anna came to me and asked which bull we should show this year, Outlander was my first choice. We had a very strong group of bulls this year, but I really liked the eye appeal and style of this calf. He has a great disposition and a tremendous, young Sparrows Cascade daughter raised him. He has an excellent foot and is very free moving. I know that the Marti calves have performance, and his daughters are second to none. They milk extremely well and have beautiful udders. Outlander is a bull you have to see in person to truly appreciate. He will leave a strong set of stout performance sons and a set of females with excellent udders.

Another typical Marti son with moderate birthweight and very good performance. I am always impressed with this sire group because of their consistency, soundness and performance.

Here’s another bull that stood out all summer. He has excellent hair, depth of body and muscle shape. He is a bull that catches your eye for sure with that herd bull presence. He’s one that prefers to be with the group rather then being singled out.

Here’s a deep bodied, heavy haired bull with great depth of rib. He pulls it all together into an attractive package. His dam has always produced top end bulls from the beginning. She is one we will be hoping for a heifer out of one day to continue with this consistent, predictable production.

I have always been impressed with the calving ease and performance of the Maverick calves. He has been probably one of the most consistent heifer bulls we have used here. I really appreciate the type of cattle with their depth, hair and muscle. 159K is a testament to the kind of sons that Maverick produces.

Here’s a really neat Marti calf. He possesses the good hair coat, the depth of body and full quarter like all the Marti sons but I really like the eye appeal and neck extension that 161K exhibits.

This is the reason we used the Winn Mans 780A bull for so many years. He was very consistent in type. They are easy doing cattle, with an impressive foot and the females are extremely good uddered. This bull really reflects these qualities.

Here’s another deep bodied bull with a smooth shoulder and wide top. He’s got a thick hair coat and an excellent foot under him. He is a younger calf in the sale that has great performance.

Here is a bull o a two-year old cow that knocked it out of the park with her first calf. Not only does this bull have a low birthweight, but his growth and performance are exceptional. His depth of body paired with his calving ease and performance make him an exciting herd bull prospect.

We had retained these 2 two-year-olds to breed our commercial cows. They were chosen because of their performance and maternal strengths. Their dams are two of our nicest cows. We weren’t going to o er these 2 for sale this year, as they were just eating hay with the mature bulls until January. I was really impressed on how easy doing they are and how they fleshed up in a month on pellets and silage. They are great footed bulls and are very easy to work with, with their docile nature.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale. Settlement is in Canadian funds. The right of the property shall not pass until settlement is paid in full. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Current exchange rates will be announced on sale day.

BIDDING: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received prior to the sale, in a su cient time frame.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: All announcements made from DLMS Farmgate on sale day will take precedence over the printed material. Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected from DLMS Farmgate at sale time and such correction will take precedence over printed material in the catalogue.

PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

IN-HERD SEMEN: Creek’d Edge Land & Cattle reserves the right to collect semen on any bull sold through the sale. Semen collection will be at seller’s expense and the buyer’s convenience.

BREEDER GUARANTEE: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove that the bull is a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

INSURANCE: Insurance will be available for purchase on sale day.

DELIVERY: Assistance will be given with making delivery arrangements after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither Creek’s Edge Land & Cattle, the Wielgosz Family or sale sta , Wright Livestock Marketing Services sale management, assumes no responsibility in the matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of an accident or loss of property.

LIABILITY: Wright Livestock Marketing is acting as an agent only in this sale and is not liable in any manner whatsoever for any representations made by the seller. The purchasers must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.
