County Schools
Composed of seven independent school districts, Spartanburg County offers award-winning programs in academics, athletics, the arts, and is home to some of the most highly rated public schools in the state. Several school districts have freshman academies to improve the academic and social transition for students into high school. Special opportunities to earn both high school and college course credit simultaneously are offered through multiple programs in the county. South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind
South Carolina’s only specialized school for students who are deaf or blind is located in Spartanburg. Neighborhood: Small main streets, spacious homes, and proximity to I-26 in a quiet rural environment characterize the small communities of Inman, Campobello, and Landrum. Recently, Inman has partnered with Partners for Active Living, an organization aimed at encouraging active lifestyles in Spartanburg County, to plan a closed loop walking pathway called the Inman Trail.

Neighborhood: Cowpens is home to the historic Cowpens National Battlefield, where the Battle of Cowpens was fought more than two hundred years ago during the Revolutionary War. The town was founded near the site of the fighting after the Americans won this battle against the Black Legion of British Soldiers. The name “Cowpens” came from the rural setting - pasture, farms and of course, cow pens. Cowpens’ neighbor, Pacolet, has been called “an undiscovered gem” and boasts a local farmer’s market and many historic civic buildings, including a circa-1915 three-room schoolhouse that is being turned into a living history resource for local students.
Housing: Both towns offer stunning farmhouses on expansive acreage, as well as unique cottages and bungalows in quiet residential areas.
Lifestyle: Cowpens and Pacolet are both thriving communities with strong ties to their past. Those who put down roots in one or the other will find an abundance of fun community events, like the Mighty Moo Festival in Cowpens, and beautiful natural landmarks, like the Pacolet River.

Neighborhood: Located to the east of Five Forks along Woodruff Rd., the City of Woodruff can trace its origins back to a man named Joseph Woodruff, who, in the late 1700s, received a land grant of 200 acres that would become Woodruff. Although it took nearly one hundred years for the town to establish itself on Joseph Woodruff’s land, Woodruff is now home to a thriving business community.
Housing: Woodruff contains many historic homes, the oldest of which is located on Main Street and dates back to the 1830s. The town’s agricultural roots are still evident in the abundance of rural neighborhoods and farmland, dotted with both older and newly-constructed farmhouse-style homes, that stretch throughout the area.
Lifestyle: Right next door to Five Forks’ busy commercial district, and only ten minutes from the east side of Greenville, Woodruff residents enjoy easy access to all of the area’s amenities, with the added bonus of coming home to the countryside’s peace and quiet.

Rental Home and Apartment Opportunities
Rental properties are available throughout the Spartanburg area. For single family properties the rental rates can range anywhere from $700 to $4,000 per month depending on location and size of property. Most single family housing requires a one year lease minimum along with a security deposit of one month’s rent or more.
Multifamily rentals are more common throughout all areas of the Spartanburg market. Rental rates on a three bedroom multifamily rental will range from $695 to $2100. A four bedroom multifamily rental will rent from $1425 to $2100 depending on the quality of the apartment and the community. Some multifamily rental communities will offer shorter lease terms starting at six weeks through a 12 month lease which can be extended after the initial 12 months has expired. Garages are available for an additional charge of $100 to $150 per month. Most apartment communities enjoy amenities to include swimming pools, fitness centers, on site laundry facilities and business centers.
