OUR MESSAGE |
Dear CBN Partner
THANK YOU PARTNERS
Ian Walton, CBN Southern Africa Director Don't forget, we would also love to pray with you about anyone or anything. Give our prayerline a call on (021 ) 701 1 776, email us at prayer@cbnsa.org or WhatsApp us on +27 71 763 381 0
Welcome to our 5th issue of Frontlines for 201 7! I have recently returned from the CBN Regional Directors Conference, and I wish I could somehow convey in a few words what an extraordinary organization CBN is! There are just so many amazing and beautiful things God is doing through the creative excellence of the staff and Partners of the various teams around the world. CBN’s mission, “to prepare the nations of the world for the coming of Jesus Christ and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth”, is one that is only attainable through broad-scale, Godly partnership. Partnership with local church in all its expressions, partnership with other Kingdom-minded organizations… and partnership with you. Our ultimate goal is to achieve a time in history when "the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea." And because of the generous giving and prayers from people like you, we are actually seeing this happening, powerfully and steadily Having now been the Director of CBN SA for over a year now, I want to express how grateful I am to the committed people I get to work alongside, and how incredibly privileged I am to be part of such an exciting Kingdom mission. I am also very expectant for how God will continue to take our collective offerings of time, resources and prayer, and multiply them across Eastern and Southern Africa. Guide and use us all, Lord! Besides everything else happening, I did want to take the opportunity to make a special mention of the fact that Superbook is now airing every Saturday morning on TBN (DSTV channel 343) and will be on SABC from October. In case you missed the news, the amazing DVD’s are also now on sale countrywide at C.U.M. bookstores and online. We are also planning to pilot the Superbook Sunday School curriculum in various churches and around Cape Town over the next few months. Superbook has arrived in SA in a big way and effectively this means that God’s word is being powerfully released into new lives, new homes and new communities across the country! Please contact us if you would like any more information about any of this, and call or message our Prayerline (021 -7011 -776) if we can offer any support to you in prayer. As always, please also feel free to contact me personally with any feedback, suggestions or stories. It is always really great to hear from you. Yours in this massive mission together - on the air, on the ground and online! Ian Regional Director, CBN Southern Africa

EQUIPPED AND ANOINTED FOR GOD'S PURPOSES
By Gordon Robertson
02
After God delivered the Israelites out of Egypt, He told Moses to have the people build a Tabernacle for Him. Until then, the Jews had only built altars with unhewn stones to make sacrifices to the Lord. Yet now they were to build and furnish a Tabernacle in the wilderness—a wasteland with no resources—and it had to be portable. The people had just been slaves, making bricks out of mud and straw. How could they build a magnificent sanctuary for the Lord to inhabit? The answer is found in Exodus 31 :1 -5, where God tells Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel. … And I have called him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.” I used to do woodworking as a hobby but never became really good at it. I can’t imagine working in gold, silver and bronze, or cutting jewels. And here Bezalel gets a download from the Holy Spirit that enables him to do all of this. The same Holy Spirit who filled him is in us. And He can give us the same wisdom, understanding and knowledge in all manner of workmanship. He will equip us with everything we need to know for the task that He has assigned us to do.
TEACHI NG |
As Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." A good prayer to pray is, “I have no idea what I’m doing, but You know everything, and You can show me.” God promises in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” We need wisdom. We need understanding. We need discernment. We need to know the way to go. We need the inspiration of the Holy Spirit breathing through everything we do. And we need to
"The same wisdom God used to create the heavens is the wisdom He used to create you. And in His eyes, you are greater than the heavens."
consecrate ourselves daily to do the work of the Lord. The same wisdom God used to create the heavens is the wisdom He used to create you. And in His eyes, you are greater than the heavens. So if you feel discouraged or inadequate, remember this. We can do great things for God because He has called us, equipped us, and anointed us to do His work. God bless you.
Scripture is quoted from the NKJV. This teaching was given during a CBN staff Chapel. 03

OP & LIFE CHILD TRAINING MEET UP IN CAPE TOWN
Orphan’s Promise partner with local outreaches around the world to provide holistic care in order to help orphans and other vulnerable children reach their highest potential. This is done through various programs and initiatives that meet spiritual, physical, educational and emotional needs.
Because we believe that a child should be in a family, we also focus on strengthening families in various ways in order to be able to care for their children and create strong families. We have a “hand up”, not a “hand out”-approach. Over the past years, a lot of valuable experience and 04
knowledge has been gained through our worldwide projects. To impart the knowledge and experience gained, brainstorm and apply the principles to the uniqueness of each country, a team of OP project managers from various countries as well as Life Child personnel, came together in Cape Town to cross cultivate and learn from each other about self-sustainability and keeping families together.

Life Child is our OP supported partner and exists to reach orphan and vulnerable children and restore communities for generational change. Life Child will be our pilot South African OP partner to be on a journey to implement the KFT program at their various centers (Malawi, Mozambique, Cape Town). God has a heart for family places

Hello Everyone!
SUPERBOOK SPECI AL |
EXPERIENCE THE BIBLE LIKE NEVER BEFORE!
• On Air: TBN in Africa has started airing
season one of Superbook every Saturday 7:30 am on their all new children’s programme called Kids Block. SABC and God TV will also bepremieringSuperbooklateronintheyear.• Our DVDs have been available at Cumbooks stores nationwide since July. The support through sales has been amazing thus far and we confident that this will continue. • On the Ground: We successfully finished our June Holiday Club events working with Living Hope. It’s an absolute pleasure working with this precious NPO that is doing great community and children’s work on the ground. We envision working with similar non- profit organisations in the coming years so that more children could be reached in our communities. Don’t miss the interview with Danielle Schneider who is a Life Skill Educator Advisor at Living Hope. She will be sharing her experiences with Superbook and the impact she has seen it have with children. • Online: We have been getting great traffic through our Superbook website with over 400 people responding to a call to salvation through our Gospel Presentation. It’s because of this we are looking to increase our social media presence in the coming future as we believe that this is an incredible platform to engage and connect. Be on the lookout for our very own Superbook (South Africa) Facebook page in October! Let your adventure begin! Experience God like never before! Experience the Bible like never before!
My adventure with Superbook has begun! It’s been three months since my appointment at CBN South Africa as the Superbook Manager. It’s been both a privilege and honour to be part of such an amazing team. It feels like a dream that I am unable to articulate in words unfolding right in front of my eyes. Experiencing and seeing God in ways that humbles me with awe and wonder at His glory. I am assured that there is more to come! Its this sense of awe and wonder that I feel God does not want me to lose whilst stepping into this role. Children have a beautiful sense of wonder in which we lose as adults. Insatiable inquisitive minds coupled with the thrill of discovering new things. My sense is that Superbook is perhaps a tool that God will be using to awaken our childlike sense of wonder, so that we may discover Him more. In discovering who He is, we become confident in who we are as we seek to establish His Kingdom. I’m under no allusion of the mammoth task ahead and the weight that it carries. However, being part of a supportive team and getting to know what I call Superbook “champions” in various capacities has given me the confidence that all things are possible. A lot of exciting developments have been happening that I need to make mention in Blessings, which I don’t think would have been possible Yolanda Magida without collaboration and partnerships.

HOLIDAY CLUB AT LIVING HOPE
Earlier on in this year, our valuable relationship with Living Hope started to develop. Their vision in 'Bringing Hope and Breaking Despair' is something we feel is strongly on the heart of God as well as the fact that Living Hope is a well established and sustainable influence. They have been working in a few communities in the Southern suburban areas, confronting real life issues such as drug addiction, gangsterism and poverty which is so often hidden from help in neighbouring communities. The approach to these various communities, on the ground, is 10
incredible and the heart is to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Superbook content was offered to Danielle, who is the Life Skills Educator Advisor for her to use at their holiday club this July, and she was very excited to grab onto the opportunity with both hands. We are thankful to our partners as none of our work or supporting of places like Living Hope would be possible without you. It is a blessing to the people of South Africa on a daily basis. We look forward to many more opportunities like this one.
ON THE GROUND |
Danielle has been part of Living Hope since May 2008, she is currently serving as the Skill Educator Advisor. Her role involves educational training and mentoring of the Life Skill educators. Danielle also oversees all of the curriculum used in the children's afternoon programs, teens' programs and all of the holiday clubs. We were very excited to hand over some Superbook content for her to try out in their holiday clubs. We asked her to share a bit about the holiday clubs and how Superbook was received.
GIZMO AT HOLIDAY CLUB
What is your favourite part of what you do? My favorite part about what I do is getting to see the children and teens faces as the Life Skill Educators teach them. I love getting to see when the children and teens realize how much they are loved by God and that God created them for a special purpose!
What is the heart behind these incredible Holiday Clubs? The heart behind holiday clubs was basically to create a safe space for children and teens to go to for a couple of hours each day where they would be safe but also have fun and learn about God. Over the years it has transformed into an amazing opportunity to reach so many children and teens in each of the communities that Living Hope works in. How many times per year do they run and which areas are you involved with? For 201 7 it will be seven times in 6 different geographical communities representing over 1 ,000 kids and teenagers. Basically every time the
children are out of school for a break Living Hope runs a holiday club. It is normally two weeks around Easter time, three weeks at the end of June/beginning of July, one week in October, and one week in December.
How did the children and people involved in your teams respond to the Superbook content, as well as meeting Gizmo in person? Our Life Skill Educators really enjoyed using the Superbook curriculum during holiday club. They liked all of the ideas in the curriculum as well as having the animated video to watch to help illustrate the story they were talking about with the kids and the teens. I was excited as the Life Skill Educators shared with me how much the teenagers enjoyed watching the videos. Gizmo was a huge hit in each of the communities. The kids really enjoyed seeing him and giving him a hug and a fist bump! It was also a lot of fun watching Gizmo interact with the kids and teens and the Life Skill Educators! 11

SPONSORSHIPS MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Macha International Christian School (MICS) is an elementary school located in Macha, Zambia. It is an Orphan's Promise supported boarding school which was started in 2006 by Gil and Ronda Krause. Orphan's Promise supports students at the school and Sarah is involved as the Boarding Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator at the school. Here is Sarah's response to the incredible support and partnership they've been receiving.
If you ever wonder if your contribution is making a difference - whether you sponsor a child for boarding or for school - I want to assure you that, yes, you are making a 14
difference. You are bringing hope to the child you sponsor. They love knowing the names of their sponsors and writing you letters. I often get numerous questions about “my sponsor and often hear them praying for you during our boarding devotion time. You are very special to them. Thank you CBN and OP partners for all you contribute to these projects!

POPUP’S SOSHANGUVE CENTRE: MAGDELINE MAGOLO Eighteen year old Magdeline Magolo registered at POPUP’s Soshanguve centre and successfully completed her ELSA (English Literacy Skills Assessment) to determine her current level of literacy and numeracy functionality. Thereafter, she joined the compulsory Foundation for Life programme in May 201 7 and it was during this programme that Magdeline shared her personal story with the facilitators. From a very young age she felt isolated, seeing that she was reared to believe that her family is everything that she will ever need and with youngsters her age rejecting her as a friend, she kept to herself and was seen as peculiar. Her father would sexually abuse Magdeline and was caught out one day by her uncle. She hasn't seen her father since that day after he ran away, as the police were on their way to the location. Since
16
that day Magdeline fell into a deep depression, she really loved her dad and loved to spend time with him. Magdeline and her brother moved to her grandparents’ house, after a family feud with her aunt, having experienced emotional abuse from her aunt as well. The abuse continued with her grandfather, speaking lies and constant critique over Magdeline. At this point she was under the impression that her biological mother was working away from home, that is why she had to stay with her grandparents and never see her Mom. However, her mother was in hospital, very ill. Great was her surprise when her brother came to collect her from church one day, to take her home and meet her mom, back from hospital in a wheelchair, still in serious pain.
ON THE GROUND |
At that point however, Magdeline was used to fending for herself and relying on her own strength to get through the day. Her mother told her that when she was pregnant with Magdeline she was in a serious accident, with Magdeline’s life nearly lost and her family comments confirming her thoughts of being unwanted and hated. She threw herself into her school work and got lost in music. She performed well at school, however on a social level, the struggle to fit in continued. Her mother sent her to various churches, pastors and prophets to pray for her, commenting on her being possessed by demons. The criticism, sarcasm and neglect from her mother as well, pushed her further into the deep spiral of depression. To make matters worse, her brother tried molesting her, however she only kept quiet, knowing that she cannot speak to anyone about this. Who would believe her anyway? Magdeline tried committing suicide several times, wanting to escape from her world of constant rejection and emotions of not being good enough. As her world seemed to be spinning out of control, music and using weed became her coping mechanisms. Her relationship with her mother deteriorated during this time, and performing artistically was her way of expressing herself.
This is the point when she ended up at POPUP and was shown the love of the Father and complete acceptance. Magdeline is smiling from ear to ear and relates well with her fellow POPUP learners. She believes that she is uniquely crafted for a God-given purpose, she was not a mistake and has tremendous value to add to the world and those around her. Her dream is to study law after completing a skills programme at POPUP. She wants to be seen as a seasoned artist, with a positive outlook on life and healthy relationships. Most of all, she wants to go to heaven after her time on earth. The Magdeline we met in May and the person she is right now are worlds apart. She lives life passionately and will make a difference to people’s lives wherever she goes. She is driven and focused on crafting a better future for herself and others.
Specific Prayer Request:
Magdeline just asks for us to pray God’s grace for future generations to never be exposed to a life such as hers and for her goals to be achieved, with a positive outlook and with solid relationships with people believing in her, supporting her and having a positive influence in her life.

PRAYER-ENTING
One of our first family events in the Southern African region this year was a blessing to all who attended. Prayer-enting birthed out of a heart to encourage, equip and inspire all South Africans to continue confidently in warrior prayer for families and our different spheres of influence. We know there has been a lot going on in our nation and after the mass prayer meeting with Angus Buchan only a few months ago we have taken a giant step into expressing the heart of the Father to the people of South Africa. Our ultimate aim is to develop a culture of prayer both internally but also to bring others with us on the journey. The morning event consisted of two sections, one for parents and one for children to learn about prayer and its necessity within the growing family context. Parents got the opportunity to learn the value of discipling their children in prayer, and children got
18
to watch the Daniel episode from Superbook, ‘ROAR!’, and learn about how to pray for their parents. Overall, parents and children were immensely blessed by our two speakers, Ron Clark, a local leader and member of King of Kings Baptist church and Gertrude Moyo, who is our CBN SA prayer strategist and local intercessor in the Southern suburbs of Cape Town. It was also a great time of bonding for families and the CBN SA team as a whole. We are immensely thankful to our partners as well as ALL who are responsible for the making and maintaining of the Superbook cullture as well as the prayer culture through the channel of CBN in Southern and Eastern Africa. It is a blessing to many on a daily basis. We look forward to finding many more opportunities like this one to express the heart of our hub.

Pat Robertson answers your questions
sin, the Lord is angry with me? If so, do I approach Him to make it right again?
A
There are different types of sins. In fact, one of the meanings or interpretations of sin has to do with missing the mark of trying to be like Him, and of course, there are consequences as a result. Then, there are transgressions, which have to do with knowingly breaking a commandment—willfully doing it.
Do you have a question for Pat? Go and visit CBN.com/Bring ItOnline and follow the instructions
God will forgive all of it if you honestly confess it. However, if you confess it and intend in your heart to do it again, you hinder your relationship with Jesus. But I believe that if you come humbly with sincere remorse, He will receive you and forgive you. The Bible says in Psalm 51 :1 7 that “a broken and contrite heart He will not despise.”
