cyclone After consulting the crystal ball, the prediction of offshore winds and a rising tide would definitely assist the day’s proceedings
It’s been a while since the last event so I will try and remember a day loosely based on facts. The small roll up at the shark tower were greeted by a very un-inviting, messy low tide swell of about 3 feet, enhanced by a light onshore northerly wind. There was no great urgency to get the proceedings away, so we awaited news from our roving surf spies, and as the reports trickled in it was looking like this could be the first lay day of the year. The Avoca board riders had set up between the pines and lake, so all eyes shifted to North Avoca. There was something resembling a wave on the other side of the lagoon, so off the convoy went to Lake st to set up. It didn’t look much better from front on but after consulting the crystal ball; the prediction of offshore winds and a rising tide would definitely assist the day’s proceedings.
This could be another one of our magic days! The wind gradually increased and as we hit the second rounds something akin to a mini cyclone hit the beach.

not disappoint with a nice little session on the point to start the proceedings on Friday. And then followed this up with 2 more days of excellent 3-4ft waves down at the back beaches. Top this off with the great company and cold beer, I cant wait to do it all again. Many thanks to Dave Shearim for organising it all. There was no time for any photographic evidence of the
