avoca Its been a while since the April comp, but unfortunately it was one to forget. With a small swell running at about 2ft, the view from the shark tower was not real inviting. The reports coming in from the surrounding beaches were not building any excitement in the small crowd. So after much deliberation it was decided that with the incoming tide the pines would be the venue for the day.

The clouds loomed ominously on set up, but hey this is club day and we always get to finish before the weather beats us. The incoming tide unfortunately didn’t assist the bank, and nothing much changed in the wave quality with it going from bad to painful, it was definitely break your board stuff in the small close outs. With the second round underway it was time to see how many holes we had in the tent, the downpour saturated everyone and everything in its path, so the last couple of rounds were called off due to a chronic lack of interest. Now you cant dampen our spirit with a little rain, everything was packed up quickly, and a B Line made for some cover at Avoca Tennis courts, Our sumptuous feast was the highlight of the day thanks to our very own master chef, Phil Morgan. This months Club Day is at Lakes beach, see you all there this Sunday the 1st of June, Lakes Beach Surf Club @ 7.00am Cheers Ed

2014 The 2014 Magoo charity classic was a huge success, with over 120 competitors from up and down the coast, converging on Soldiers Beach. The forecast was not looking too kind on the Friday with a waning 1-2ft swell predicted for the Saturday, oh no we gasped! Friday night was spent thinking of alternatives over a few cold ones with the contest director Hayzy in case we were faced with the unthinkable! What were we thinking the Magoo never disappoints and Soldiers had every inch of the 2ft swell with light offshore winds and a nice right hand bank that had the
