District 181 Band & Orchestra Classes

Take advantage of this opportunity to experience private lessons with your band or orchestra instrument this summer!

Classes are taught by professional musicians carefully screened by our District 181 instrumental music staff, specializing in each of the following instruments: flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello and bass.

Class Number: M1 Instructor:: Professional musicians screened by D181 staff Date/Time:: Lessons are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students will receive four lessons, one per week, each 30 minutes. The student’s schedule will be determined by the private instructor and parent. Instructors will contact parents in regard to date and time preferences after registration is complete.

Grade: 4-8 (Current D181 Students Only) Location: Clarendon Hills Middle School Cost: $100 Refund & Make-Up Policy:: A refund can only be given if the teacher is unable to accommodate a specific time request for an entire series of lessons. Cost: The cost is $175 per class with the exception of: Band & Orchestra ($100 per four lessons); Advanced Learning ELA: 6th Grade ($350 per two-hour class); Advanced Learning Math Algebra I ($350 per two-hour class) and Early Childhood Summer Camp for preschoolers ($525 per three-hour class).

Drawing / Printmaking on Paper & iPads

Half of this class will be dedicated to creating artwork on paper using watercolor, pastels, collage materials and forms of printmaking. The second half will focus on creating artwork using a variety of applications on the iPad. Parents and students are invited to an art show and reception on the last day of class!

This integrative teaching approach will engage students in creative art projects based on children’s literature. Students will conclude the session by creating their own version of a children’s book. Parents will be invited to an open house on the last day to view the projects.

This class will focus on landscape, still life, portraits, and abstract painting. Students will work on life skills such as planning, problem-solving and critical thinking. Students will learn about different artists, styles, and techniques of painting! Parents and students will be invited to an art show and reception on the last day of class!

Sculpture

This class will focus on multiple forms of sculpture. Students will work with a variety of three-dimensional materials from paper mache to clay, to recycled objects. Parents and students are invited to an art show and reception on the last day of class!
