I am Walil Archer, I have been a successful serial entrepreneur for over 25 years, starting in 1996. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I attended The Community College of Philadelphia and Temple University. I graduated with two degrees, one in Marketing and another in Management. I own a successful real estate investing company in two states, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. I am also a Syndicated; Award-Winning Photojournalist with Downtown Hott Radio.

What motivated you to be a Photojournalist?

As a Photojournalist what motivates me is the learning process. I enjoy learning from new people, and I enjoy hearing people’s testimonials. I am a traveling photojournalist. I really enjoy exploring various places and experiencing diverse cultures as I capture compelling stories through photographs.

How would you define your purpose?

I started in real estate investing in South Philadelphia and expanded to Decatur, Ga. My real estate business aims to help low-income families with clean and affordable homes. I also have a workshop where I teach real estate, it is called “The Million Dollar Mindset.” I am also conducting workshops that teach about Internet Radio, social media, Credit, Networking, and Real Estate Investing.

We see that you are working on a new challenge in your life, tell us about the challenge that you are doing for the remainder of the year.

The newest challenge in my real estate business is starting a short-term rental business such as Airbnb and Peerspace.

What is the next big move for you? My next big move is getting back to traveling every month to expand my real estate business. I am always learning and adapting. I embrace innovative technologies, trends, and

storytelling techniques to stay relevant in an ever-evolving industry.

Let us discuss “Downtown Hott Radio” and how it got started.

Downtown Hott Radio was established in 2010. I was invited as a guest back in 2012 to discuss all the charity work, I was doing in Philadelphia and Atlanta. I host “The Real Rapp” Radio show on Saturdays on air from 2pm to 4pm. The Real Rapp show also broadcasts on over one hundred different radio stations.

What are some of your achievements and accomplishments in your career?

My biggest accomplishment is becoming a million-dollar real estate investor in South Philadelphia. I have also received many awards throughout the years for my accomplishments in my career as an investor and as a philanthropist and my charity contributions. To name a few:

Some of the hurdles and challenges I had to overcome as a real estate investor was doing the evictions with tenants.

Tell everyone who you are and what you do. My name is Keturah Hamilton. I was born in Jamaica West Indies. I am the only girl out of five kids. I began my career as a model in New York City and am now an actress who resides in LA.

How would you define your purpose?

To be of service to others. to spread love, and to be selfless.

Let’s talk about “Nanny” and the motivation behind the film.

Yes, let’s talk about Nanny. It was an honor and privilege to be directed by the beautiful and talented Nikyatu Jusu. As an actor it is so thrilling when you get a role that’s juicy, to be on a set where the director looks like you and tells a story that’s relatable especially to foreigners who left their country to seek a better life for their children. How ironic that I returned to New York where it all started to not only shoot “Nanny”, but an episode of the TV series “New Amsterdam”.

What has been one of your most memorable moments in your career?

Wow, when I was nominated by Broadway World for best featured actress in a play “The Motherf**ker with the Hat” by Stephen Adly Guirgis. Just being nominated was a big win for me. I know you said one, but I have to share my experience as a presenter at the Trumpet Awards. That feeling will never leave me. I was in the presence of Civil rights icon and founder of the Trumpet Awards, Xernona Clayton. I learned what the late doctor Martin Luther King taught her about love. We are beyond black excellence.

What are some goals you want to accomplish in the next three years?

“A goal without a plan is just a dream”. I want to continue to advance my thriving career, expand my scholarship program, and build sports centers in Jamaica and Africa.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself. Lots of fun facts LoL. I’ll leave you with two facts. I love to cook, and I laugh at my own jokes before I finish telling them.

Let’s talk about the Keturah Hamilton Foundation and how it all got started.

The Keturah Hamilton Foundation is a Non-profit organization whose primary focus is to make a difference in People’s lives through education. KHF all started because I was raised by my late stepdad

who was a giver. I grew up seeing how selfless he was, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps to honor him and to also live my God’s given purpose.

What advice can you give to the next generation of female leaders?

My advice is to stay true to who you are, work hard, stay focused by keeping your eyes on the prize and surround yourself with greatness.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

Yes, a pilot called “Starlets” that’s being pitched for a TV series. I am also writing my anthology about some of my mishaps and my way of coping through it all. “My Prerogative” is set to be released in September of 2023 by Gatekeeper Press.

My name is Peter White, and I am a musician and composer. I was born in England in the 1950s, started playing professionally at 19 and moved to California when I was 23. All I wanted was to be in a band and tour the world. I did that with singer Al Stewart from the time I was 20 till the time I was 39, and also with Polish singer Basia - 2 world tours in 1990 and 1994. In 1990 I released my first solo CD and since then I have released 15 more.

How would you define your purpose?

When I started out, I just wanted to be a musician and somehow along the way I became an entertainer. I have found that my purpose in life is to entertain people and take them to a different place, which is what music does to you. And with no side effects!

What has been one of the most memorable moments of your career?

Meeting George Benson was very memorable as he was an idol of mine. I met him on a few other occasions and he has always been very friendly and gracious to me. When I first heard Breezin’ It made me think of starting a career as a solo artist. His music inspired me to one day set out on my own!

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be? I like to perform everywhere and anywhere, but most specially for me in England as it is the place of my birth! The one thing that I miss most, living in California is hearing English spoken by British people. I love to hear people pronounce my name correctly with a T in the middle!

What made you want to be a guitarist?

When I was about 8 years old, I heard the Beatles on the radio and I loved their sound so much, especially the guitars, that it made me want to play guitar. I got my first guitar soon after and I taught myself to play by listening to the radio and trying to copy what I heard.

Let’s talk a little about your journey and how you got to where you are today.

I got my first professional gig through a chance meeting with a guy who needed a guitar player for his organ trio. They had a summer season lined up in a resort on the South Coast of England, but their guitar player quit. I say it was a chance meeting, but I was working in a musical instrument warehouse and because of that I started meeting other musicians, something that would not have happened at my previous job in a soup canning factory! It’s what I call the proximity factor - being close to the places where musicians congregate and meeting them. Nowadays the internet seems to have replaced that, but I think that the proximity factor still has it’s place!

Tell us about “Music for Starlux Airlines” and the motivation behind it.

I was recently asked to record some music for Starlux Airlines, a new airline in Taiwan. They wanted me to write some peaceful, relaxing music for their passengers for boarding and deplaning. Later, I put all the songs together to make a CD in 2019 and it is my latest.

What is one message you would like to leave with your fans?

If I had one message to send, the most important one is to be kind to each other. We all need each other in this world, and the unknown person that you fear may be the one person that helps you when you need it the most. Never judge a person by their appearance. I treat everybody the same, and on my travels I have met thousands of people!

Are you working on any events or upcoming projects?

I have been working on a new CD for 3 years now and it’s just about finished. My release set is for later this year! At the same time I am playing about 100

What’s up everybody! I’m D4M $loan. I’m from West Philadelphia. I’m a music artist, actor, and a fashion dude, haha.

What made you want to pursue a career in the music industry?

What made me want to pursue music was the passing of my friend Tamir who died in 2015 due to a drowning accident. I started off making music with him and my other friend Jahsir who also passed away and the goal was to keep his name alive and go hard with music in memory of him.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I would describe the music I typically make as TrapRock music…I always felt like that word was self-explanatory. Go in your phone, search my name, listen to “Swagg Talk,” and you’ll understand what I mean!

Let’s talk about your single and the motivation behind the song. Well, I got two singles out right now: “Blahh Blahh Blahh” and “Tat Tat Ma Ma.” Those songs were based off two different meanings. The first song, “Blahh Blahh Blahh,” was just a song I made on how I feel about the critics and people hating me from afar. As far as the second song, the ladies love me so I made a song they can all feel is about them.

Who would you like to collaborate with?

I really don’t have a particular artist I want to work with, but I’m down to work with any artist if the music is dope.

If you could change anything in the industry, what would it be? If I could change anything in the industry, I would change how the BET Awards are now. I would change it to how it used to be. It used to be so raw.

What has been the biggest accomplishment in your career?

I really feel like the biggest accomplishments of my career have yet to come, but I would say landing my first acting role in Bel-Air, the remake of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, meant a lot to me.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?

If I could perform anywhere in the world, it would be Japan and in the UK. Especially Japan - they appreciate the music culture a lot.

Are you working on any new events or projects?

I got a new album about to drop called “I couldn’t decide.” This is my first album, and it showcases about 70% of my range in music. It shows my wolf side and my Swag side. When you hear it, come back to this response and it will all make sense.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to have this conversation with you. I’m Celina Shands, the chief executive officer/founder of Full Capacity Marketing. We are a 20+ year old national consultancy specializing in brand storytelling and strategic communications for those in the workforce, education, and entrepreneurship sectors.

While the company has been around for more than two decades, it was quite the journey to get here!

This is my third company and by far the best experience and teacher I’ve had to date.

What’s unique about my company is that many of our team members, including myself, have “been there” like so many of the clients that our customers serve to lift out of traumatic experiences like homelessness, poverty, immigration, and government assistance.

We are an inspired bunch! Everyone in the company understands the bigger picture of the impact of our work. One of our customers, an adult education school, recently shared a story where they helped a homeless woman living in a storage unit obtain her high school equivalency, followed by stackable credentials. Today she is earning over $60K/year, just by finding an educational pathway that worked for her and learning the right skills.

Our team knows that our marketing work is helping to recruit underrepresented and underserved populations that can lead to these kinds of remarkable success stories. That is a motivator—to share stories about the positive impact of how our work contributes to making a difference for our customers and those that they serve.

Motivator #1 was survival. Early on in life, I was driven to become an entrepreneur because I craved something better than my childhood. I was born and raised in North Carolina and, like so many of the millions in this country, had a tumultuous childhood where alcohol played a negative role in our family dynamics. Fortunately for me, my sister was the constant in my life. She raised me and consistently told me that I could do anything and be anything if I dreamed it. Even though I doubted myself, she didn’t, and more importantly led by example starting her own company. To this day, she is listed in my contacts as Sissy Shero.

Motivator #2 was a cat named Sheldon. Yes, a cat. I had a dream one night that I had a cat named Sheldon (even though I was a dog lover) and two days later found an abandoned baby kitty. I ended up starting a company, in part, so that I could spend more time with him working from home. He was with me for 19 years.

Motivator #3 was a drive to innovate. As time went by, the “survival” motivator was replaced by the drive to find innovative solutions in my field of workforce development and education. I get inspired every day by seeing how lives can completely change by learning the right skills and leaning into what you love to do.

What made you want to pursue a career as a communications expert?

I believed that getting a strong foundation in marketing and communications would be a great set of skills to apply within any industry. While I wasn’t sure in which industry I would eventually land, I wanted to pursue a major that had wide applicability.

I also had a passion for sports and was fortunate enough to earn a basketball scholarship to help pay for college. When I graduated, I had to take some time to heal my injured athletic body.

degree in sports medicine within a year and a half by challenging some of the classes. It was in my late 20’s that I started my first company called “Life At Its Peak” and became a rehabilitation director at a multidisciplinary practice. We set up a fantastic program to help people out of their physical pain.

I wanted to share the knowledge and have others replicate our model at the clinic, so I talked to the CEO about writing a book. To my surprise, he handed me a signed blank check and said, “I believe in you; just pay me back when the book sales come in.” I was floored; talk about a pivotal moment and a pivotal person in my life. No one other than my Sissy Shero had ever had that kind of faith in me.

The book was self-published and launched me into a consulting career, helping doctors integrate sports medicine and holistic services as part of their practice. But when insurance laws changed, the model became outdated and like so many entrepreneurs I knew that I had to reinvent myself.

Who or what inspired you to

be the person you are today?

I’ve had three prime motivators in my life.

I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and enrolled in a school to earn a 1,500hour certification as a holistic health practitioner and education (HHPE). I then parlayed that into earning a master’s

I was growing weary of the big city life after ten years, so I moved south to take a job as the marketing director for the San Diego Health & Human Services Agency to build my skills in journalism and crisis communications. I happened to write a business plan

for a foster youth facility as part of my work and someone on their board approached me about working with his nonprofit which focused on workforce development.

I had no clue what workforce development was all about. Once I understood that it was an entire public sector system that receives federal funding to help youth, job seekers and entrepreneurs find their career path through education and training, I was all in. After all, that was something that I had done my whole life through the help of my mentors. Shortly after that my current company was born.

How would you define your purpose?

I’m blessed to say that I have found my purpose and it’s all about empowerment. In our day-to-day projects, we give the customers with whom we work the strategies to build a high-valued brand so that they, in turn, can recruit underserved and under-represented populations to their programs; build effective public/ private partnerships to solve complex community workforce issues; and garner much- needed funding to be sustainable.

The very process in which we work with our customers empowers them to succeed long after our contract concludes. That’s why I named the company Full Capacity Marketing because we want our customers to be at full capacity to succeed with or without us.

The whole concept of education and workforce is beyond a passion for me, knowing that it can replace poverty and despair with a true sense of self.

What is one goal you want to accomplish by the end of the year?

We are working right now with the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE), a national association that represents 79,000+ adult education providers across the country, from colleges that offer adult education to nonprofits and public organizations

that serve adult learners. We launched a national campaign to engage employers in the work of adult education called Behind Every Employer.

It’s important that adult education providers understand how to reach out and engage companies to hire their adult learners or provide a space for work-based learning opportunities, like internships, apprenticeships, and mentorships, to help them gain more work experience. The campaign builds their capacity to conduct effective employer outreach.

The campaign website houses a locator map to help employers find and connect with their local education providers. We are in the process of helping COABE find funding to promote this aggressively across the nation to high growth sector companies that want to tap into alternative labor pools.

Our goal is to achieve a high level of visibility for the campaign so that employers see the value of adult education and want to participate in this important mission.

How was the experience being a finalist of the women who mean business?

Joyful! And humbling. I had to pinch myself being in the room with all of these amazing women executives who are so passionate about what they do. Their drive to help others and share their knowledge is so inspiring. There is something powerful about like-minded women who have a collective intention to move “the needle” within their industry, whatever that needle is.

Let’s talk about some of the outreach campaigns you have worked on helping job seekers. Oh, I’d love to share that! We are working with the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) and have deployed a statewide campaign, called Your PathYour Future, to help adult learners and job seekers understand the options that are available through adult education.

During the pandemic, student enrollments declined by 22% nationally, on average, between 2020 and 2022. The decline was primarily at the community college level, with a variety of factors influencing these trends, among them a lack of access to technology, a changing job market, shifting demographics and the gig economy presenting a multitude of non-degreed and non-credentialed job opportunities. Illinois was impacted with student enrollments dropping by nearly 43% in 2020.

Our company was awarded a contract to create a coordinated, statewide capacitybuilding initiative to support adult programs, community colleges, school districts and community organizations with adult learner recruitment. The initiative included a highly strategic digital statewide campaign to reposition and raise awareness about the value of adult education coupled with communication tools and assets to support enrollment efforts at the local level.

Because collaboration is critical to such a large-scale campaign, we partnered with the Adult Learning Resource Center, the Illinois Center for Specialized Support, the Southern Illinois Professional Development Center, and created an advisory committee to drive the process and leverage resources that were already established.

The results have been promising, with 99% of all ICCB programs receiving prospective student leads and clicks on the link to Hotline Program Directory coming in at more than double the standard benchmark. The initiative has led to an overall increased enrollment in fiscal year 2021-2022 that was 40.5% higher than the total enrollment in the previous year in Illinois. We love these results because it means more adult learners are finding their pathway to success.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I just started horseback riding after 40+ years. I used to muck out stalls in

exchange for riding lessons. My trainer would find riding clothes and boots that I could borrow for horse shows, and I loved the competitive aspect of the sport.

Fast forward to today, and I’m back at the stable, honing my equitation skills. What’s healing for me is that I can

fully participate in as much riding as my schedule allows and my body seems to be able to tolerate the impact. My goal is to get into a show this year, but I have a long way to go!

Are you working on any new events or projects?

I’ve had two offers from people who

wanted to buy my company and I have thought about selling it. But both offers, for one reason or another, didn’t sit with my intuitive “gut.”

Now I know why. I recently hired a vice-president of operations, Anika Jackson, and in just a few short months that we’ve known each other, we are taking Full Capacity Marketing into a broader direction so that we can expand our services to entrepreneurs and small businesses across all industries.

As a workforce and education thought leader, I’ve known that entrepreneurship has always been identified as a critical workforce development strategy, even though it’s a path less often taken. It makes sense that through our collective expertise as entrepreneurs, we also build the capacity for those seeking to take this path. I feel like a little kid again expanding the company at my age, but I now understand why selling the company didn’t feel right; there was yet another chapter in the company to come!

One of the services that we are launching soon is the eFCM Learning Hub which combines Anika’s Your Brand Amplified ® courses for entrepreneurs that we will also adapt specifically for our public sector and nonprofit organizations. These online courses can be packaged with coaching as well as our brand storytelling services to help entrepreneurs and organizations build a thriving, well-recognized and valued brand.

It doesn’t surprise me that through the powerful partnership of two women, we are going to take Full Capacity Marketing to even great heights and move the needle for a larger segment of people who want to find their dream career and make it a reality.

My name is Theo Jones, better known as “Theolodge” I’m an indie hip hop artist from Central Florida (2 hometowns: Lake Placid/Bowling Green). Music, Gym, and influencer is my game, but Positive movement is my aim. There’s so much hate in the world and with my music I want to embrace uplifting and be inspirational.

What made you pursue a career in the music industry?

It all started with being in the church choir and making choir practice fun for me. I guess you can say from rapping in elementary to doing the middle school drug free song to being the lunch table rapper, which is, when someone makes a beat, and I will kick a freestyle.

What makes your music unique and different than others?

I would say my voice! growing up people would say or mimic my voice because of how I sounded. Never thought that would be my game charger and the fact no one sounds like me. That’s my difference.

Tell us about your experience touring in Europe. Touring Europe started in 2017 for me and just gave me a different perspective. Never thought or dreamed I could make it overseas without

signing a deal or having someone with a lot of money to back my career. I love it because they judge you strictly based on your musical talent and not the preprogram that’s telling you who to like or who’s hot. The best part of Europe is I might can’t speak their native language but I’ve learned music is a universal language that brings us all together

Let’s talk about “Krew” and how it got started.

Krew started with a simple convo with my bro, and I was thinking of a way to make all people feel accepted. I turned the K backwards so when you look in the mirror it says “WERK (work). Krew has only a few requirements that are to create positive energy and aim to become a better person every day. “If that ain’t backwards then them boys ain’t KREW”.

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve received in your career?

I would say my biggest accomplishment is still developing and I will soon achieve it. The best Highlight was receiving my 1 million plaque from Spotify and music being on national television.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be? Dubai!!! It’s my mark that I really made an imprint and this is the moment I am waiting to arrive.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I’m a lowkey comedian lol but really, I love to make people laugh and have a good time. I’m all about good energy and not being so serious with life.

Currently I am on a mini 8 city tour and my new single “Paris ft LRS3” charted 23 on Spotify charts and over 400K streams in 6 weeks, My Instagram series “FIRE OR NOT” Restaurants reviews and playing in celebrity basketball games to help charities.

In the next three years I can see myself performing at some of the biggest music festivals in the world alongside my team, supporters, and family.

What makes your music more unique and different than others?

The sound itself makes my music unique and different than others. I haven’t met anyone that’s sounds like me. In addition, the content that I connect to my music is explosive and high-quality. This gives my supporters a world of entertainment.

One fun fact about myself would be that I am also a professional dancer. I was introduced to the hip-hop community through dance and haven’t looked back since.

Let’s talk about “Cant Stop Dat South” and the motivation behind the song. The song is a song that we wanted to let the people know about where we come from and what we do. Also, when the South is united we can’t be stopped.

What do you feel sets your group apart from other groups in the industry?

Well, there aren’t many groups left. But we are all individuals who are collectively to achieve one common goal. We all have a different sound from another, and it works.

What are some of the challenges you face as a group?

No real challenges. Just friendly competition to challenge each other to bring out the best in us.

What has been the biggest accomplishment so far in your career?

Reaching the top 100 on DRT charts.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Anywhere because I love to perform. But overseas in another country would be nice.

Are you working on any new events or projects?

Yes, we are currently on tour and just released a new project. We are also working on the group’s debut album as well as solo projects.

My name is Apryl Fort, COO/CFO of N-Brands home of the N-tity Productions and N-Finite Spirits. I guess who I am is a God-fearing woman who loves God, my kids, my family, and friends. I feel like I am on a mission to change the game when it comes to the Spirits world and Corporate America by introducing the power of the black woman.

What are three things you love about Texas?

Food, Family and Fun. We have the best variety of food in the US and my whole family is there so that’s always a vibe. It’s home. I love East Texas where I can just be myself and in Dallas there is always something to do and somewhere to go. I love it there. Growing up in the DFW you know you can really be anything. Just go for it!

How would you define your purpose?

I honestly just want to do whatever God leads me to do. I truly think I am a connector and God has a purpose in using me to create a corporate environment that people of color can feel safe and grow.

Let’s talk about N-Brands and how it got started. My business partner, Tamir “Nokio” Ruffin of Dru Hill and I were talking

one day, and I was truly depressed. I had been in banking for 15 years and my manager advised he wasn’t impressed by me. It broke my heart and my spirit and Nokio said “I see you as a big time executive. You should come run my company.” I always took that as a base that God had to push me out of one space to go into another. From there we have grown and are doing very well with N-Finite and various projects.

Where do you see yourself in the next three years?

I see N-Finite as a household name, and we continue to grow in the market as we claim our place in this new Black Corporate America.

How has the experience been being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority?

The experience has been rewarding. I am grateful to the members who follow the journey and support me and our products as well as the mentorship and sisterhood it provides. Knowing my sisters have my back has been EVERYTHING to me!

What has been the biggest accomplishment you’ve received in your career?

Honestly, when the Hard Rock Café in Baltimore picked up our product and started serving N-finite on their local menu, I couldn’t do anything but think God had brought it full circle.

What advice can you give to the next generation of female leaders?

Stay the course and never let anyone define you. The thing that makes you, you, are the things that will help people gravitate to your business.

The biggest factor that has helped me to be successful is my unwavering passion and dedication for what I do. Throughout my journey, I have remained deeply passionate about writing, promoting cultural awareness, and making a positive impact through literature. This passion has fueled my determination, allowing me to persevere through challenges, setbacks, and moments of self-doubt.

Moreover, my dedication to continuous learning and growth has played a pivotal role in my success. Let’s talk about your children’s book and the motivation behind the book.

My children’s book series, the Brer Anancy series, was initially inspired by the celebration of Jamaica’s 50th year of independence in 2012. The series has since gained momentum and comprises four books: “Brer Anancy and the Magic Pot,” “Brer Anancy and the Easter Egg Hunt,” “Brer Anancy and Brer Duck,” and the Spanish version, “Hermano Arana y La Olla de Magia.”

Additionally, I have also created an activity book to accompany the series.

The motivation behind the series stems from my desire to celebrate Jamaican folklore and culture while providing engaging and educational content for young readers.

Brer Anancy, a beloved character from Caribbean folklore, embodies cunning and cleverness. Through his mischievous adventures, the

books aim to entertain children while imparting valuable life lessons, promoting critical thinking, and fostering a love for reading.

As the series gained popularity, I took on the responsibility of author’s visits to schools and libraries. During these visits, I engage with students through readings, performances, and interactive activities. This allows me to connect directly with young readers, sparking their imagination, and encouraging a deeper appreciation for literature and Caribbean culture.

Overall, the Brer Anancy series and the associated author’s visits are driven by my passion for storytelling, cultural preservation, and education. It brings me joy to share these tales with children, inspire their creativity, and instill a sense of pride in their heritage.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

One fun fact about myself is that I am a trained dancer. I have had the privilege of studying under the renowned dancer Patsy Ricketts, a world-renowned figure in the dance industry. This experience has not only allowed me to develop my skills and passion for dance but has also provided me with invaluable insights and inspiration from a true master of the art form. Dancing has been a joyful and expressive outlet for me, allowing

me to connect with music, rhythm, and movement on a deeper level.

Are you working on any new events or projects?

Yes, as a creative individual, I am always working on new ideas and projects. Currently, I am excited to be working on a graphic novel titled “Echoes of the Ancients.” This project is based on the stories and legends of the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean. Through the graphic novel format, I aim to bring these rich narratives to life, immersing readers in the fascinating world of Caribbean indigenous cultures. I am enthusiastic about exploring the history, mythology, and traditions of these ancient civilizations and presenting them in a visually captivating and engaging manner. The graphic novel will not only entertain but also serve as a platform for cultural appreciation and education. Let’s talk a little about your journey and how you got to where you are today. Well I started doing house music in Chicago(my hometown)! Then I branched off into security then management! Ran Pac’s label and ran the operations for Track Kingz west coast division as president!

How did you become the president of Makaveli Records? A friend of mine who knew Pac’s cousin told me about the position and what Pac was trying to do.

What has been one of the biggest accomplishments you’ve had in your career? The biggest I would have to say was winning our first Grammy! Then working with Pac and his family label.

What are some of the goals you want to accomplish in the next three years? Winning another Grammy and seeing my pro golfer (Tim Mercer) win a PGA Tour!

If you could go back and talk to your younger self what is one thing you would tell him? Watch the company you keep and stay humble and true to yourself!

My role at the time was Vice President of the label and artist development. I have since resigned!

I am the author of The Unexpected Benefits of Being Run Over and a digital transformation leader at Google. I am also a woman who loves her many hats—mom of chaos (three kids, two dogs, four cats, one husband), occasional wedding officiant, neighborhood therapist, seasoned sales leader, and family CEO & cruise director.

How would you define your purpose?

I am not sure I have a purpose to be honest, I think I just have an ambition to seek, share joy and inspire optimism, self-love and acceptance.

What are some of the hurdles and challenges you’ve been through to get to where you are today?

I guess I look at my life as two transformative stories – pre and post-accident me. Pre accident, I worked really hard to become a person I liked. I was a very shy, insecure girl, one of the few minorities in my town who hated being different and just wanted to fit in... It took about 25 years of my life to learn to appreciate being a misfit and another several to become a person I felt mostly good about. Then that person was run over by a car and unrecognizable. So that was the second transformation –recognizing and accepting I wouldn’t be that other person again, and also appreciating that I can be a different person. I can be a better, happier version of myself even with some set of limitations I didn’t have before because I now have insights I didn’t have before.

Where do you yourself in the next five years?

I see myself pretty close to where I am today – happy, a mom of many, working hard, enjoying life, eating better. . . . and maybe (hopefully) doing more speaking engagements, sharing my journey on a wider stage, and reaching more people. . . but still finding time to be present for my family, friends and people that I care about.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

I would remind them to find joy and personal value from multiple sources. Don’t let your identity as a leader – business leader or any type of leader- become your only identity. Enjoy the many facets of who you are and find at least two or three (if not more) sources of pride and accomplishment.

What is your favorite film?

According to my husband, I haven’t watched enough movies and have somehow missed everything he deems a classic - so this is a tough one for me! The first movie that comes to mind as a favorite is Four Weddings and a Funeral. What I love about it is the range of emotions – the joy, the heartbreak, the silliness and even spontaneity - all woven together in a journey of perfectly imperfect people that sustain each other with laughter and love and friendship. I guess it’s kind of a story of misfits and belonging –and I relate to that.

Are you working on any events or upcoming projects?

Let’s talk about your book and the motivation behind the book. The book is my effort to share what I have learned through trauma (being run over 3 times!), lived experience, insecurity, and I guess triumph too –over my very full and winding 50 years of life as a misfit.

If I could go anywhere, it wouldn’t actually be a place, it would be a moment. A moment I experienced often but didn’t appreciate. It would be hearing the joy and smile in my dad’s voice when he saw me or just picked up the phone. I didn’t realize it when I had it, but that moment was always this beautiful gush of love and I depended on it far more than I had realized.

My book, The Unexpected Benefits of Being Run Over, just came out in April so I am still focused on the book launch events – readings and signings - around the US. That has been really rewarding. So many readers – and even those just learning about the story when we meet – resonate with the struggle and the journey of self-acceptance. They feel inspired by the idea that breaking doesn’t mean you are broken.
