Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

My name is Krissy Miller Robinson I am the CEO of KandyKane Konsultants and The VP of Treimage LLC (Limited Liability Company). I specialize in public relations, licensing, endorsement, management, and event producing.

Who motivated you to be the person you are today?

The struggles of life and my children are what motivates me. Knowing I must provide for them. In the process, I have been influenced by Dr. Norris Dorsey, John

Gordon Jones, and Dana Fikes.

What are some goals you want to accomplish for 2023? My goals for this year would be to expand my business and learn more. I want to focus more on sponsorships for my clients and really work hard in the marketing area. I have the tools. I would just have to apply myself more.

What has been one of the biggest challenges on your journey? The biggest challenge that I have is executing deals. For some reason folks do not believe the money is out there. It is crazy. You can have a 6-figure offer for someone and their team will not even respond.

How has your experience been working with Treimage LLC? It has been a wonderful experience for me. I have been with them from the beginning, starting out as a licensing agent and now I am the VP. I have no complaints.

What has been the biggest accomplishment in your career? There are so many, but I will say my latest would be closing a deal for an A-List Celebrity that I will be speaking about very soon.

What sorts of work and clients do you find most interesting? I work with all types of clients. My passion is when I am eventproducing for them. When they are releasing something, I love to do the rollouts.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be? I would like to visit Africa and learn more about my people and where I come from.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events? As I said previously I closed a deal for an A-List Celebrity, I recently produced everything at Hazel’s Birthday Party with a performance by Trina and I am working on JoJo’s Birthday Party with a performance by Kalan FRFR and Amina Buddafly.

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

What’s the deal? My name is Young Lawless and I’m a recording artist as well as a producer.

What made you want to pursue a career in the music industry?

My aunties sang background vocals for Deborah Cox and my uncles played the drums and guitar for Montell Jordan. I was always surrounded by music growing up so as I got older, I became more fond of the interest.

How would you define the music you typically create?

The music I typically create has a message or witty lines that might make you laugh I like creating punchlines that no one has heard.

Let’s talk about your single and the motivation behind the song. My single Coochie Hoochie ft YN Jay was inspired by the strip club. A Coochie Hoochie is a slang word for an exotic dancer. When you go to the strip club you might get approached by one of the dancers that work there.

Sometimes they walk up to you and ask if you want a lap dance. You might decline at that moment because you want a drink from the bar before you get your night started. If you decline, they will go to the next person. You could’ve been throwing money all night, if someone walks into the club and has more money, they’re going to follow the money like a hoochie. Coochie Hoochie went platinum. It charted at #18 on Hip Hop Billboard Charts and #1 on iTunes.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be? If I could perform anywhere in the world, it would be in Qatar. It’s one of the richest countries in the world and it’s beautiful.

What is one goal you want to accomplish this year?

One of my goals for this year is to win a Grammy if not win become Grammy nominated.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I’m a low-key comedian. Most people think I’m just a hood guy because my name is Lawless and I’m from Compton but I’m actually pretty funny and quite a prankster. I love to laugh and make other people smile.

Can you give some advice to someone that wants to be in the industry?

The advice I would give to anyone trying to pursue music is to never give up. Some of the people closest to you are going to doubt you but don’t get discouraged. Continue to work on your craft until you’ve mastered it.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

I’m currently working on my new album called Psychoactive 2. It’s a sequel to my last album Psychoactive which featured artists like Sukihana, Compton Menace, and Steven G.

Where can the readers follow you?

If you want to find me on any platform you can type in Young Lawless, and I’ll pop right up. That goes for all social media as well.

BUDDAFLY AMINA

Photos by: Arnold Turner

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

I’m Amina Buddafly. I am a musician, singer-songwriter, and music producer, an author, I’m mom and I’m a ga instructor.

What made you want to pursue your career in the music industry?

What made me want to pursue a music career is the passion that I’ve always had for the music itself and for singing. It was me and my sisters who started it together. And I give a lot of credit to my older sister Sophie. Because she’s the one that started acting on recording songs when we were teenagers and she’s the one that got us all to do It and yes, it always natural to us. It wasn’t something that we decided, oh, let’s try to do music. It was like a natural thing. We grew up singing in choirs and music was always a very big part of us. It was never in question whether or not we were going to be musicians. It was always clear.

Tell us about your single and the motivation behind the song. The current single of my forthcoming album 4.0 is MMC and it stands for making me ***. And yeah, I always have to chuckle because it’s kind of rated R. At least I was just manifesting. The love that I want and deserve, and I realize that I’m not asking for much and I say it in the song as well. I’m not asking for much, so why is it so hard to find that person? That was before I had my boyfriend? I found him now but make me cum basically talks about me just wanting somebody that holds me down and is there for me and does not leave me because in the past every relationship I was in I ended up getting left for someone else or it was just never the right fit. So, I kind of wrote down all the things that I want, and it wasn’t much, but one of the things definitely was that I needed someone that makes me cum.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

In the next 5 years, I see myself growing my fan base. Performing more being on more stages. And making more money doing what I love and just continuing to climb up that ladder that I’ve been climbing for damn near 20 years now. You know, I see myself still rising and getting bigger by the year, even though I am taking baby steps because I’ve never had that big breakthrough, but I feel like my journey is to just grow as an artist and a musician and reach more people. That is my biggest goal. I just want to reach more people with my music and grow my brand and I think that’s a go for a lot of people out here and I’m one of them. I am happy on the journey, which is what it’s all about because you can’t be just looking forward to a destination. It has to be the journey that you enjoy and make it enjoyable. I’m still enjoying creating and putting up my music on my own. So in five years, I want to live in a bigger house with my two kids and hopefully my man and my dog and just continue to pursue my happiness and make my music

Let’s talk about your book and the experience you’ve had writing it. I have two books out. The first book is my memoir called The Other Woman. And I felt the need to write it after I left

reality TV. I felt very misunderstood, and I felt the need to tell the story out of my perspective. So I wrote the other woman and a lot of the book is about who I am as a person because I felt like that’s what people didn’t really know. People misconceptions about who I am. People tried to tell me about myself, and they were always wrong. I’m very proud of that book because it’s very honest. It tells the story of me, where I come from, everything about my life that led up to me being on reality TV and my journey with my sisters and being in a relationship in the public eye, and everything that came with it. The negative, positive and then having kids. Everything is told in that memoir. In my second book. This book is called my dishes and more and it’s a lifTh30-dayyle book. A 30-day guide for women ver, whoever wants to have a better, happier, healthier life and looks up to me on how to balance everything. It’s a lot of tips and in it on how I live my day-to-day life. A lot of workouts, fitness tips, 30 recipes and more, and that is my dishes and more.

How would you define your purpose?

How would I define my purpose? I would always define my purpose to inspire people. I want to inspire

15 WHERE IT BEGINS

people with my art because I’m an artist. I’m an artist all around. I like anything art. I was like that in school when I was like 6 years old. I was always good at art where I didn’t have to be super social. I don’t know that I’m really a people person probably not, but I’m a loner and I create best when I’m alone and my art speaks to people and, you know,

mainly my music, because that’s what I’ve most expressed in. I feel like my music is meant to inspire, and I already know that I’ve helped so many people with it, and I just feel like that is my calling and what I’m meant to be doing. So, I’m continuing to do just that.

Let’s talk about yogi and what it does for the mind, body and soul.

It’s been a big part of my life for the past eleven years and it just brings awareness. It brings awareness over everything. Your body and your mind. It brings awareness to your life. Like you become more aware of what you are and what you want. Everything becomes clearer and you become more at peace. You get calmer and yoga for me is life. I can never go back to not doing Yogi. It brings you awareness and I believe self-awareness especially is the key to living a better life. So that’s what yoga does.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

Fun fact about me, I think a lot of people are still surprised when I tell them I have an identical twin. The people that didn’t follow my journey don’t know and a lot of people even to the day, Still comment I didn’t

know you had a twin. Also, my first language is German. I guess those would be the fun facts. I don’t have anything more exciting than that. Even though I’m a very fine person.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

I am currently working on my 4th album. My fourth full album because there are other projects that I’ve put out over the years such as EP’s and Christmas EPs and collaborative albums such as the One with Lyfe Jennings. But right now, I’m working on my 4th full album, meaning more than 10 tracks. It has 15 songs on it and I’m actually complete. Currently it comes out on April 18th of 2023, on my 40th birthday. I’m very proud of it because its completely, executive produced by myself. I composed everything from scratch. I wrote all the songs and I feel like it’s some of my best work. I’m excited.

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

My name is Xavier “X” Young aka Mr. Run the Play and I am the CEO of RTP Group Management And Promotions, Creator Of FAME Live, and Mainline Distribution partner and A&R.

For those who would like to get a feel for your sound which song of yours would you pick to recommend?

As an artist my sound was aggressive, I would attack the track and literally try to out-rap anyone on anything. Now as an executive, I’m more openminded. I like originality I look for the next big thing. I realize that good music comes in all forms, it’s just something you notice instantly but just like food people have different tastes. I think the difference between a good artist and a bad artist is the time spent on their craft, and the artists ability to listen and learn. Constructive criticism is a good thing to be able to accept.

If you could work with anyone, who would it be?

Personally, an artist I would like to

work with is Drake, I think him and Tre would make some classic music. On the business end, I would love to learn more about his marketing outside of the music, and what’s actually being done behind the scenes.

Let’s talk about “RTP” and how it got started.

Well, the RTP Group started when I began to brand myself in the Hollywood nightlife. My hashtag was #VIPLAX I was doing clubs in Hollywood with my old partner and our company was VIP L.A., so I really just added the X. RTP (Short for Run the Play) is the company I came up with when I started my own thing. The goal was to promote the promoters which would give me the access, then be able to accommodate whenever they needed something that’s where the lifestyle aspect comes into play. I came from the entertainment industry, so I already knew a lot of people, throwing events only made sense because networking was a major key. The RTP Management aspect developed when I realized I didn’t want to be an artist anymore, I wanted to be responsible for the next big thing. I know it’s about development so you have to build a team you can grow with; you only get better through repetition.

What do you think is missing in today’s music?

I think that artist development is what we’re really missing in the game. I think that’s the reason the quality of music has dropped, and it became more of a popularity contest. You don’t really need the labels anymore so it’s like there’s nobody to impress people just half a** everything.

What do you want to accomplish this year?

This year I want to get my artist on some bigger stages and focus on content. We’ve got a lot of plays in the works. We just going to stay busy.

Tell us one of the biggest accomplishments you’ve received in your career.

In this phase of my career, I think the

development of TreCinco is one of my greatest accomplishments. I’ve watched him mature and develop pretty fast, but that’s hard work and literally working on all aspects of your craft every day.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I want to go on a European Festival Tour. I know Mike and Tre will kill it. To perform in front of those huge crowds would be dope.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

Yes, I’m working on my Run the Play Compilation, this will have various artists that I like current and new talent. I might even drop a track on there to show y’all I still got it, who knows…lol Me and Krissy stay working so there always an event coming up. She’s my publicist so I’ll let her explain what we’re at liberty to do.

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

I am a DJ/Producer from Los Angeles Ca.

What made you want to be a DJ?

I used to be on air on the radio and when my DJ homies would mix, I’d always beg them to let me blend one joint. Once I learned that it was over.

Who would you consider a DJ Legend?

Jazzy Jeff, DJ AM, and Richard Vission are my god tier DJ’s. Jazzy Jeff’s precision and cut style is unmatched. DJ AM’s ability to mash-ups and genre blending on vinyl was crazy. To go from Rock, Pop, and hip- hop all on vinyl was nuts. I once saw Richard Vission with Vinyl stop a record and spin it backwards perfectly while blending another record into it right on time with the other. Unreal.

Tell us what kind of equipment you like working with.

I’m a Turntable baby. I learned on vinyl. The feel of the record spinning gives me so much control while I’m cutting.

How would you define your “style” or approach to providing DJ Entertainment?

Entertainment is the word. But I see myself as a conductor of energy. I want to give you a live show. Im yelling, rapping the words, really performing and I love the element of surprise I want every record to blow your mind.

Where do you see yourself in three years?

Playing the biggest festivals in the world. I want to rock a sea of people at a time. I also see myself creating records that will timestamp moments globally.

What are some challenges of being a DJ?

It’s watered down at times. A bunch of people that are only interested in the check, the attention saturating the market.

If you could go anywhere in the world and DJ, where would it be?

I want to DJ clubs in Europe. I want to experience the culture, and the music.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

Currently working with artists producing a brandnew ep. I’m playing at my first Festival on May 27th called the I Love RnB Festival in Long Beach CA.

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

I am TreCinco, a wavy & melodic flowed artist that lives in every genre as well as writing & recording my own music, representing Vallejo CA.

How would you define your purpose?

I’d define my purpose as giving all people around the world timeless vibrations of great music for their ups and down times. Reminding everyone that they can be or do whatever they want in this life.

Who or what motivated you to be a singer?

What motivated me to be a singer would definitely have to be my mother & father instilling R&B, Rap, and Gospel into me as a child.

Let’s talk about your new mixtape and the motivation behind it.

My new project “Summer 4Ever” is a summer & all-year round series inspired by my first high school tour that I started back in 2019. The youth giving me high volumes to feed off during the tour sparked the project series. It’s filled with up-tempo R&B, love songs for the ladies, uplifting rap music for the hustlers, & trap music for the clubs to rock.

What do you think is missing in today’s music?

Today’s music is missing the genuineness for real flows in rap and not only that but the relatable deep feeling in it for others to connect to.

What makes your music unique and different than others?

What makes my music unique is the Melodies’ and the frequency it brings to records in this generation. Not only will you keep replaying it, but it’ll be a highlight of your life that you’ll never forget.

Tell us what you would like to accomplish in the next five years.

In the next five years, I would like to accomplish making my loved ones proud, making sure my record label is the biggest in the world, & placing my clothing line in stores all across the nation.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

A new project that I’m working on is called “Tre Lorenz” as well as continuing “Summer 4Ever” & also my team and I will be putting together a tour for this year 2023.

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

My name is Michaelle (Mi-Ka-El or Michelle) Valcourt was born and raised in Miami Florida. Mrs. Valcourt obtained her nursing degree in 2018. Her passion for helping others at such a young age, pushed her to become a nurse. I’m happily married with 4 handsome boys. I’m a sports mom. I am first a believer in Christ. I am a nurse and nursepreneur.

I’ve been a nurse for a little over 4years. I have experience in mental health/psych, Acute rehab, and med surg/tele Neuro. I love and am passionate about helping others. I’m the happiest to see others happy!

I am a nursepreneur who owns a medical scrubwear. The scrubwear is called Classy Acute Med Wear. I integrated fashion into the healthcare industry.

How would you define your purpose?

Great question! Defining my purpose! Hmmm, I think I haven’t found out

what my purpose is, I’m still asking God for guidance. But I believe and strongly believe, my purpose here on earth is to encourage women and speak life to them. After my mom and mother-in-law passing in June 2020, it was like a bulb came on. I was comfortable. And that pain birthed my purpose. Navigating through the deaths, pushing through completing my BSN, taking care of kids, etc. Having the word of God, encouraged me a lot and working out.

What motivated you to get into nursing?

I love helping people. As a little girl, I always loved helping people. I would give rides to the elderly and help put groceries in people’s car. I always wanted to be in women’s health, but that didn’t work out. I found a new love for mental health.

Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?

For the next 3 years, I see myself hosting webinars, encouraging/ empowering women to be a better version of themselves. Being booked internationally and speaking on my books.

Let’s talk about your scrub wear company and how it got started. Classy Acute Medwear was founded to motivate all essential workers who work endlessly and effortlessly to provide excellent care to our patients. The meaning behind our brand name is one who is an achiever and gives their all to achieve them even when faced with obstacles. Our brand stands on the belief that first impression is everything when serving our patients. What inspired Michaelle to create the Classy Acute Med Wear business was issues finding the perfect scrub that caters to the urban population with a hint of style. Classy Acute Med Wear will cater to and serve both essential workers and patients in a fashionable way. Her vision is to have essential workers to be in style and take care of patients. When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you perform at an all-time high and my mom was a seamstress growing up, and I’m into fashion.

What are some of the programs you offer with your marketing company?

Currently, my marketing company is at a halt, but planning to revamp, and rebrand that baby. Today, marketing is key to unlocking unlimited potential and opportunities.

25 WHERE IT BEGINS

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.

Fun fact about myself, I like to explore. I would be that friend to go zip lining, jet skiing, parasailing, sky diving, lol (just to sum it up, travel).

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Ouuu, Paris, France. I had family who lived in France, and when they would come to the US and speak French, it was like how is this language so different, but yet fascinating? And I missed my opportunity to go as a little gilt because, I didn’t know the family like that, like that. So, the missed opportunity, always stuck with me as a little girl, that one day I will visit. On top of that, seeing pictures, and videos, I saw while growing up made me want to go there. And might I add, they are known for their and fashion! The beret hat is my ultimate favorite with the plaid set. Oui oui.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

Yes, I have some projects I’m about to tackle on those it is out of my comfort zone. Completely out of the norm, but Holy Spirit confirmed it for me twice this year within a short time frame. Follow me on my journey. I don’t want to spill the beans just yet. But trust me, it will be worth it.

What keeps you motivated to not give up?

The reason, I push and go hard the way I do is after the passing of both my mother and mother-in-law, June 2020. I can’t even explain, it was like clarity

and purpose was birthed. I’ve been planning a business but never pursued it. They are my motivation alongside my husband and boys.

Any impact you have on the community?

Every year: we host an annual back- toschool drive. We partner up or sponsor other events such as turkey drives, toy drives and any event we can help out with to make a difference in the community. My motto: The more you put out, the more you will receive. It

brings me great joy to see others happy. This year will make it 10 years hosting our own annual backto- school drive.

SILVERBERG BETH

30 PROMOTING NETWORK

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

Hi, I’m Beth Silverberg. I’m a former world- class poker player. Now instead of spending my time at the tables, I’m up day and night scouting the auction sites, Instagram, and the Internet to find rare, unique and special fine jewelry and collectible designer handbags to showcase in my boutique in Bryn Mawr, PA.

What motivated you to go into fashion?

I’ve been a fashion maven since I learned how to dress myself! I love the fun of discovering pieces that make a statement.

How do you keep up with fashion trends?

I‘m a voracious reader and I shop a lot! But for me, fashion is an individual experience. I’m not a “trendy” person. I want everyone to be a trendsetter.

Let’s talk about “Exceptional Finds” and how it got started.

As I mentioned, I retired from professional poker and wanted a new creative outlet. Naturally, my default was fashion. I built up an inventory of pieces that sang to me and I felt would connect with a clientele. The biggest challenge was getting exclusives on the couture jewelry brands that I have.

What are some goals you want to accomplish in the next 3 years?

I fine tune my business every day. My primary goal is to get to know everyone that walks into my boutique and to offer them items that they’ll love.

Tell us more about how you got into playing poker.

I started pretty young. Both my father and brother were players. When I was married to my ex-husband, I took it up as a hobby so that we could be together and share our passion for the game. I quickly came to realize just how much I loved it and how good of a player I was. There are so many elements in poker that relate to life.

Let’s talk about the “JED Foundation” and the motivation behind it.

I have always been involved in multiple charities. When I moved to New York I was introduced to the Sataws and their story of losing their son to suicide truly moved me. I told them about how I had co-founded the All in for Kids poker event at CHOP and how I’d love to help them raise money for JED doing the same thing.

What is one of the biggest accomplishments you’ve received in your career?

Two stand out: making three WSOP final tables and founding the All in for Kids Poker event at CHOP.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

My full attention now is on nurturing Exceptional Finds! We’re having a Mother’s Day shopping event for men which promises to be a blast. I’m also brainstorming about working with charities that are meaningful to me.

GUNN OLIVIA

32 PROMOTING NETWORK

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

My name is Olivia Gunn, an author, entrepreneur, and public relations specialist based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m the owner of Olivia Gunn PR & Communications where I provide various communications strategies to help small businesses and organizations expand and maintain reputable brands. I’m also a senior public relations specialist for county government in metro Atlanta where I assist government departments with communications and marketing.

How would you define your purpose?

My purpose is to use my gift in the communications field to help brands maintain a positive public image, expand their reach, and accomplish their brand goals.

What made you want to pursue a career in Public Relations?

I decided to pursue a career in public

relations after working in broadcast news. I worked as a digital content producer for ABC and NBC affiliate news stations for six years. During that time, I was able to work with marketing and PR reps to coordinate coverage for the businesses they worked for. I became interested in the PR side of communications and decided to study it more. I eventually changed my career path from news to PR as I found that I enjoyed PR more.

Let’s talk about your new book and the motivation behind the book.

I was motivated to write my new book, “Social Media and Business,” after studying social media marketing while pursuing my master’s degree. As a millennial business owner and an avid user of social media, I was interested in knowing more about how social media influences my generation to shop with and become loyal to certain brands. During my studies, I also learned that millennials make up half the nation’s population, which would make us a large portion of the consumer market. So, I felt that businesses would benefit from learning how they can use social media to reach and influence millennials.

Can you give us some tips on social media Marketing?

Some social media marketing tips that should always be at the center of your marketing plan is to research and know your audience, establish goals, develop a plan and strategies to reach your goals, monitor the type of content your audience engages with the most, and measure your results.

Tell us more about “Live with Oliva Gunn” and how it got started.

“Live with Olivia Gunn” was a radio show that I hosted for two years on urban radio in my hometown of Columbus, Georgia. My career started in broadcast news, and I was later given the opportunity to expand my brand and grow in the

communications field as a radio personality. My show focused on entertainment and community news, and hip-hop music.

Where do you see yourself in the next three years?

In the next three years, I see myself as a top-ranking PR specialist and leader in the industry.

What is one message you would like to give your fans? I would like my supporters to remember that success takes time! Remain consistent in your efforts and keep your goals in front of you.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

Currently, I’m working to release new merchandise. In addition to my book, I have a merchandise line that includes, journals, t-shirts, and digital downloads, which all center around my communications brand. I’m working to add more products.

BOYD MARCUS

34 PROMOTING NETWORK

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

Hello world my name is Marcus Leonardo Boyd i am 40 years old i am from Atlanta GA/ Brooklyn NY. I am a proud person who has autism i wear it so nicely I am the first african american in history to be a 7x award- winning autism activist also I am a 13x award- winning music producer and composer. I am a business owner who has his own clothing line called the a collection clothing and I have my own shoe line which is the very first spiritual tennis shoe called G Soles Sneakers. I am a lyrical gospel rapper and songwriter and a professional DJ that goes by DJ Marcus or Dj Marcus Boyd, a lot of people ask me who I am. Well let me answer that for you. I am a black man who is proud to have autism who is proud to be considered special needs. I am a father of 3 kids, I am a god father to 4 god sons, I am a uncle, great uncle, a brother, a friend

and a loyal and humble person, I am a musical genius to many and a voice for autism to millions. I am a person that comes from the ghetto or projects, I am a person that has emotional behaviors and still goes through my trials with having autism but I wouldnt change it for the world. I believe trials and tribulations help mode you to be the person you are destined to become; iIm learning every day to be more grateful humble and more willing to be more of a vessel that God can use.

How would you define your purpose?

You know for a very long time I didn’t understand or even know if God had given me a purpose, see a lot of us go off flesh and wants rather than the spirit and what God wants us to do or become. We look at music videos celebrities basketball and football stars and since we live in the hood we instantly want to become these people we see, a lot of the times its out the question to fast and pray and ask god what he will want us to do and what's his purpose for us. So with me I was just like that another number another lost brother without the right guidance. So at first I thought the streets was my purpose so I jumped head first into that but how I was so wrong. Then I wanted to do music be a music producer and composer now I am still in that field but I now know that wasn’t my purpose, me being a autism activist is. It is life changing and its so bigger than awards or interviews or any self glory. I truly give my time, my talent and work for autism. My job is to be a voice for those who cant be a voice for themselves rather it's laws, I have to fight to make better or rights I have to force to get past or to create or if its programs that we need to make better or include it’s the families of autism kids and teens that have to go slient because there is no one to help advocate for them. So with me having autism and being non verbal for almost 14 years of my life and being bullied and mistreated I understand all sizes of autism. I use my testimony my knowledge and my passion for autism to help create change not just for this generation

but for the next one as well. So the way I define my purpose is a God given super power that allows me to be powerful unique unstoppable and faithful to make a change with having autism and being a voice for autism.

Tell us a little about your journey and how you got to where you are today.

I was born with autism and I was born in Atlanta GA and rasied between Atlanta GA/Brookyln NY. I come from a large family and I didn’t know I was different until I was 4 yrs old, my birth father had a problem with me and my behavior. I was disgusting to him. He was a walking monster horrficly and abusive. I mean anything from peeing on me, breaking my ribs with a metal bat, kicking me in my face with his boot, making me be naked and have my face to the wall and my nose on the edge of the wall while holding heavy encyclopedias one on each arm and if i dropped it then i would get beat all night long. Going to school with no socks or shoes on, having scars on my face, back and butt and he still sent me to school. Where I come from it's every man for himself your taught surivial and snitching is against family codes I don’t know if my mom truly loved me because she was getting abused too. The scariest moment I had with big Tommy my birth father was when I was 4 yrs old he got mad because I still had trouble with the bathroom and using it on myself so it was on a saturday in june 1987 when he came in the bathroom and saw urine every where and he snatched me and drgged me outside in the front yard. He was yelling and cursing calling me names and saying i was so retarded I wasn’t his son and I deserve to die so he had me by one arm and he grabbed the gun out of his truck and by this time Teena my birth mother was standing outside watching him do all of this and said nothing and then he put the gun in my mouth and said you are a piece of s***. I will never love you and mental people like you needs to die you are a waste of space and then he

35 WHERE IT BEGINS

tried to pull the trigger but you heard the gun jamming so he tried again and again and again but the gun kept jamming so he got really upset and started to pistol whip me repeatedly by the grace of God a neighbor came out to take his trash out he looked to see what was the yelling all about and then he saw what was going on so he rushed to push big Tommy off of me they got to fighting police got called and big Tommy got locked up but Teena went to bail him out so with that being said I been in so many foster homes, group homes, mental hospitals, so much trails in my life but I realized God wasn’t done with my story and about 6 years ago I was invited by a good friend of mine to go speak at her church about me having autism and what God has done for me. At first I didn’t want to do it I wanted to fit in and be normal not realizing I was already normal so I agreed to go to her church. After I spoke at the church I realized this is not about Marcus at all it's about the millions of people who's stories doesn’t get shine or light who has to sacrifice just to get their kids some therapy or medication that they need. So I decided to become a voice. Someone who can help speak and fight for change when it came to autism and I been on this road of being a autism activist every sense.

What are some goals you want to accomplish in the next 3 years?

Well for me I want to conquer

the world while providing better services and opportunities for autistic individuals and families worldwide. I want to have a media center called autism world media where you can come learn how to become a music producer composer where you can record songs and get your songs mixed and mastered. Also where you can get photo shoots done and make music videos to your songs or make commercials to your brand and where you can have interviews on the hottest radio show in the nation, I want to be a successful internation keynote speaker about autism, I want to have a successful clothing line and shoe line, I want to have an up and running autism career days, autism music fest and autism art films. I just want the world to see and deal with autism differently and see the gifts and talents we have. We are so smart we are geniuses, we are kind, loving and understanding and we can

do anything we put our mind too if we are given the chance too. In the next 3 years i want to hire autistic people so they can help run some of these businesses I have. I truly do,if we are not given a opportunity we have to create one.

What has been one of the most memorable moments you’ve had in your career? Well God has blessed me to have a lot of them but I think my most memorable one was when I had a chance to go to London UK and be the main speaker at the national autism society. I got to speak in front of 20,000 people they were hearing my story on autism, I got to answer questions and hear feedback and I got to ask questions also. I got to talk to some of the world leaders over there to really understand how autism is different in there country but the same in actions and behaviors for me being a boy from Brooklyn NY/ Atlanta GA and to get a chance for your voice to be heard in a major platform. To me that is mind blowing because I know personally about having autism and being non verbal for almost 14 years of my life and being made fun of, picked on, builled, being medicated, having speech therpist and behavior aids and be separated from my birth family. So I just don’t speak. I speak for the millions of families who doesn’t get a chance to have their stories told.

Tell us more about getting inducted into the library of congress.

For me it was a shock im still

36 PROMOTING NETWORK

in shock that people would see my work in that type of light. For me it’s not about fame or trying to get rich or awards it's about helping people who cant help themselves. When I first got the news I cried on my knees screaming. I just couldn’t believe they would pick me. All of my life I been trying to be heard and prove that I am not what people say I am with having autism, honestly I'm honored because I know with this type of honor the next generation of kids can read about a person not only having autism but a person who helped to makes changes for autism. If my gradmother was still here I know she would be proud of me. I just wish people like Bob Ordner and Dorothy Carr could be here to see this day happen they always spoke life into me and I feel like by having my face in history books will only prove what we can do in the autism community once we are given the chance to show our gifts and talents.

If you could go anywhere in the world and speak, where would it be?

Well for me that place would be Paris France because I love their culture the people the style of conversation and clothing, I love their food and just how they operate and I would love to do a tour there as well. Autism in france is super big and they need to know more about autism the traits of autism and the behaviors dealing with autism there.

What advice can you give to others that have Autism?

I would first say that God made you

to be amazingly great be proud of who you are hold your head up and know you have superpowers and you can do anything you put your mind and heart to, don’t allow anyone to say what you can do or will do with having autism. Yes, we are different but that doesn’t mean we are unable, we are kind hearted, smart, intelligent giving type of people and all we want is acceptance and a chance to show what we can do. Now the road may be tough but with God your village of people that care for you and your faith and dedication then you can get over anything , you are tomorrows leaders your voice matters and we need you to tap into your greatness and reach beyond your infinity and continue to show the world why you and autism is a force to be reckon with. I love you and there's nothing you can do about it.

Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

Yes I am, I am always on something. My team be telling me to slow down but I will sleep when God takes me home lol but seriously I have my clothing line called the a collection clothing it’s a street wear and urban /casual type of fashion and it's for men, woman and kids and it will come in all sizes. This clothing line was formed from the autism community. I wanted the autism community to have a designer clothing line something they could feel good in and represent themselves, next I have my shoe line called: G Soles Shoes or sneakers. G Soles is the very first spiritual tennis shoe with scriptures and up lifting sayings that you will see on the shoe and with creative and unique designs this is truly a godly walking shoe and we wanted to show that its cool and dope to worship God and have him near you at all times. Next I have a comic book I am working on called super Marcus and the autism squad it will be like xmen but super Marcus and the autism squad is protecting autism and special needs communites and showing the super powers they have inside of themselves. I am working on a 4 part docu series called autism the american family story it will be a docu series that follows the lives of 4 different families that have dealings with or have autism themselves and how they live how they fight or strugggle and cope with autism on a daily basics. I have

a radio show for holy hip hop its called kingdom bizness radio where holy hip hop lives and where you will have lit conversations and dope interviews amazing music and giving new artists a spotlight and where God will be in the atomsphere and you never know what I will be doing next. You just have to stay tuned.

Big Chill: I’m Big Chill. Smoove B: I’m Smoove B

Kenny J: And I’m Kenny J.

Tell me a little bit about what y’all been up to.

Kenny J: We are a Patterson- born and bred group that loves to sing and love the gift we have to give the sound. We’re just trying to push forth this Riff sound to the nations, spreading love through singing R&B and soul music.

We love to sing and show the gift that we have been blessed to have. So right now, we are in a season of creating and building.

Big Chill: Yeah, and I’ll say something just to elaborate on what Kenny was saying, 2022 has been a blessed full year for us guys and we’ve been, you know, putting in a lot of work, you know, for the new and upcoming project. And my man, Kenny J

Now when you do download the Christmas song because we want you to download

the Christmas song. Please don’t get misconstrued with the name, the name of the group. Is RI. And you have other groups out there like Riff Raff, Riff, whatever, but our group name is Riff, and you can always link riff with lean on me.

Well, let me ask you, what do y’all think is missing in today’s music?

Kenny J: I’m going to say the message of truth. You know, we’re missing a level of authenticity that we used to have in the early 90s. We are asked this question quite a lot and it seems like everybody is interested in trying to find out what the real answer to it is.

It’s a different day and age right now

and you know with the 21st century, It’s just a different era, a different perspective. There’s so much going on. We enjoy the 90s music because it had a low love, it had a level of respect. Of course, it had this raunchy stuff, but you know, we can pick and choose.

If you can go back and talk to your younger self, what would you tell yourself or what would you do differently?

Smoove B: Me, I would tell my younger self to be patient. You know, because it just hit the ground running. Don’t do any research. Don’t do this. Don’t do that. Just go but be patient. Stop trying to run down there and do some of the things when you can just walk down and do everything that you need to do.

Nitty Green: Just to let everyone know, we’re going to be celebrating our 30-year anniversary this year in March, we’re going to be celebrating 30 years in the business as recording artists. We’re going to be celebrating that we have our life and a new single out, a very special Christmas that’s out right now. You can get it and the video is coming. I also have a podcast called Vibe Sessions. It promotes life, love, and music. You know, it comes on every Sunday. At 7:00 PM this week, this Sunday, come check us out. We’re going to be at vibe Sessions.

What is something you want to share with your fans?

Smoove B: Actually, just be real. Be true to yourself, you know? If you are true to yourself, you will be good. I mean, stop trying to perpetuate. Stop trying to be fake, just be real. Be true to yourself. Be honest and be nice to people got to be nice to people. You got to.

JAMES DR. LORI

40 PROMOTING NETWORK

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

I’m Dr. Lori-Renee Dixon James, however, my friends call me “Dr. Lori.” I am the Founder, CEO, and President of The James M. Dixon Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research and Support, a non-profit, 501c3 charitable organization established to assist to people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers/partners.

Let’s talk about the “James M Dixon Foundation” and the motivation behind it. The Foundation was established in 2018, which is the year my father’s journey with Alzheimer’s ended. The Foundation was born out of sadness, grief, anger, and a desire to assist the group of people who failed in the care of my father. Once the anger subsided, I realized that Caregivers are the ones who need the most support, information, and training in order to intentionally care for and assist people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. My thought was if Caregivers learned how to better care for themselves and were given information on how to care for their care recipients, their desire and ability to care, in an intentional way, would increase. Therefore, The Foundation was born. I started with a box, The Mindful Caring Pampering Box, and I thought that The Foundation would distribute Pampering Boxes to caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia. We then adopted a couple of Assisted living facilities to provide training and information to caregivers employed by the facility, as well as loved ones of residents living at the facility. However, I quickly realized that the need is so great, and the workers are so few, so The Foundation began increasing its programming and services.

care for people in the Alzheimer’s and related dementia community, especially in underserved communities, while providing information, training, and resources to help make their journey just a little bit easier. We are even here just to hold their hands and listen.

Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years, I see The Foundation providing services and support in all 50 states and abroad; expanding the services offered or implementing planned services, such as The Caregiver’s Retreat; having physical locations in several cities; having a core group of at least 100 volunteers; being a major contributor of scholarships for students in medical school; and being a force in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease. Of course, the strategic plan offers more information that explains these goals more specifically and within a timeframe. However, the most far-reaching goal that I hope to accomplish, within the next 5 years, is a retreat center for caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. This would be a place where loved ones can move about freely and enjoy the surroundings, and caregivers will be pampered, learn more care and self-care techniques, and relax for a few days without caregiving concerns.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments in your career?

August 19, 2023) The Purple Affair (Sunday, August 20, 2023) to include a charity bike ride, The Purple Wheel, and The Annual Intentional Caregiver’s Luncheon Workshop.

Tell us 3 words that would describe your future. Extraordinary, Busy and Relational.

What advice can you give to the next generation?

How would you define your purpose?

My purpose is to love, support, and

One of the greatest accomplishments of The Foundation, I would have to say, is The Purple Affair. The Purple Affair started in my home, free of charge, and with approximately 112 guests. This was the first time we celebrated those in the caregiving arena with trophies and other gifts. The Purple Affair ’22 was held at a major hotel with approximately 288 guests. The Purple Affair ’23 is expected to welcome over 350 guests and expand the opportunity for caregivers to participate for free. This year’s event will also encompass activities the day before (Saturday,

The advice I give my daughter, who is 23, is to be intentional in whatever you do. Even though you may not be able to see your future, or you don’t want to think about it right now, you must intentionally plan for it, because of the Lord willing, it will be here sooner than you think. In the meantime, learn how to intentionally take care of yourself. Do not hesitate or put off making yourself a priority. Enjoy your life. Think about what you want out of it and go for it. Do what makes you happy and don’t wait for anyone else to do it for you. Remember that you are the prize and treat yourself like you know it. Finally, the last and maybe most important piece of advice I would give is to be kind. Make kindness the core of who you are, and if life ever gives you an opportunity to give back or support someone, do it with grace and humility.

JONES JANELLE

44 PROMOTING NETWORK

Tell everyone who you are and what you do.

I am Janelle Jones. I run a successful business, homeschool, and worldschool my children, make time for my significant other, and I’m still jet-setting worldwide. My passion is to help entrepreneurs create their dream lives and get the freedom they deserve. I do not allow the cares of life to overwhelm me; that’s why I am constantly building my dream life of space, and my goal is to help you do the same.

The dream life I am building for myself includes the ability to travel the way I want. Traveling is one thing I love, and it’s one of my greatest motivations because it helps me see the world differently. That is why I give my children my undivided attention as a mother, make them a part of my everyday life, and show people how to do the same. My ability to travel has given me the opportunity to acquaint my children with different cultures and the ability for them to become multilingual. “Motherhood should not be considered a jail sentence because kids are adaptable. They feed off of your emotions and schedule. Add them into your dream life, not the other way around.”

-Janelle.

How would you define your purpose?

My purpose is to change the world through my words. I am a naturalborn teacher and writer, so I use both gifts to show the world that there are alternatives to the 9 to 5 work world they have been taught all their life.

Let’s talk about your business and how it got started.

I went on a business retreat in Bali, and during one of the hot seat sessions, we came up with the idea of Hustling Hotties. This female empowerment brand shows you can create your lifestyle through side hustles and entrepreneurship. After launching that brand, I saw a need to

add a digital marketing agency to my company and founded Janelle and co., where I help entrepreneurs build their online presence.

Where do you see your brand in the next five years?

My brand will be internationally recognized and support women around the world.

What has been one memorable moment of your career?

A special moment in my career was when my dad, who lives in another state, met a woman who said she knew me. She told him I was the motivation for all of Atlanta. I don’t know who the lady is, but I will never forget what she said.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself. I am first generation American which means that I have Dual citizenship in England and Jamaica, where my parents are from.

Let’s talk about your two books and the motivation behind the books.

My first book is called the Profitable Passion, and it is for anyone who wants to start a side hustle. I divulge all topics to help you start making money from your passion. Topics range from which

passion to choose what to charge, how to market it, taxes, and so much more. This book has bonus items from the list of 100 side hustles to side hustle checklists. A page of bonus information at the end of the book makes this book work its weight in gold! The second book, Approved, breaks down building credit into a tangible step-bystep process. This easy-to-follow guidebook packs vital information to help you effortlessly steer your business credit to six figures!
